INFO: King Krule (aka Archy Marshall) is a singer, rapper, songwriter, record producer, and musician from London, England, UK. He began recording music in 2010 under the moniker Zoo Kid, and has ever since then made quite a splash with his three full-length albums.
The Ooz is his newest one and was released just over a week ago.
King Krules music is so magical. I dont always understand the deeper meaning but most of his songs hit my soul hard. He has such a magical way with words its crazy he's not more popular. Hes truly a poetic genius.
I normally dont comment on these kinds of videos but ive been having such a hard time interpreting his music. From easy easy, to dum surfer to everything in between. His poeticism confuses me but is so fascinating at the same time
As a person who can relate to all of his song both lyrically and musically at 1st time listening to almost all of his work, I feel like I was floating in the dim hollow universe aimlessly for immortal time and run into someone else on the same boat.
I found it easy to understand only because before I got into Krule, I had already dug deep into all his influences which include: 1950s Beat Poetry (Ginsburg, Kerouac, Burroughs, Bukowski), No Wave punk (DNA, James Chance) and the graffiti artist Basquiat who was friends with many of them. Old school modal jazz and hip-hop were huge influences too. These are all things that pop up in his interviews, but also make a lot of sense once you're familiar - everything from the harmonic and rhythmic choices he makes, to the specific words he uses.
All of these art scenes shared common threads which were urbanism, addiction, avant-garde and impressionism.
I didn't go to art school and got into these things through an adolescence filled with heavy trauma, violence and escapism. I felt I could deeply relate to Krule's music and at times felt like I was living through the lyrics.
I honestly find some truth in the few memes that describe King Krule fans as red flags or toxic, because relating to his music on a personal level seems to come with very deep-seated and untreated mental health issues that result in destructive behavior. Honestly it's tough just living with PTSD and listening back to Krule's music can be triggering, so I rarely do anymore. The newer stuff has been a lot lighter though.
Amazing video. The OOZ is honestly my favorite album of all time. The world building and storytelling doesnt get better
Exacy the ooz cane out on my 18th birthday best gift we ever got
same
Good stuff but new place to drown came out a few years after 6 feet.
new place was under his actual name and not the king krule name
that background loop is killing me, i just want the song to continue lmao
coming back to this video surprised, as it doesn't have more views and likes. extremely underrated video.
Thank you for this! Not enough video essays on archy, I appreciate your interpretation👏🏾👏🏾
incredible work on this, 'a new place to drown' came out after 'six feet beneath the moon' is all i'll say though
how am I finding out you made a video for this album just now
That was really well analysed and a good interpretation. I’d like to see you do this with “6 feet beneath the moon”!
Thanks! I'll see what i can do.
Video essay worked really well here. Nicely done. I'd like to see more of these

Me re tripea este album, pero hasta ahora trato de buscar el significado del nombre del disco, que significa the ooz?
This is sick but the way you butchered "Bermondsey' made me chuckle

It’s kinda hard to match archy’s style but here are a few artists I come back to that are slightly similar:)
love this vid and it deserves more attention. Can someone explain to me how the poem ties back into Czech One? I can't quite understand what Lie Likes Music means by that.
How about an interview with Jamie isaac/ tom cully
Wow this is great! Do you listen to all music like this? Does understanding what a song means make it better for you?
King kruleeee
This was a great video! :) would you do the same with Julien Baker's new album? Would love to hear your take on it
Thank you! Alright, i'll see what i can do.
Hi C, watched Dum Surfer and it fits perfect in this Halloween period . It's a pretty cool video, but..(yes there is the but again) this music feels so depressed, it makes me feel to skip it right away. Here is an other King band with depri songs, I do like! : ua-cam.com/video/xw1gPV7DL4c/v-deo.html. Tx and happy Halloween ☠
Jacqueline Diesel I respect your opinion. You must have an aquired taste for dark, depressive stuff to like this i guess haha. Alright i'll give it a listen right away.
I have the cover tatted on me, krule is then greatest of all time.
Awesome video. If you like King Krule, check out
