No he definitely went straight from Wilde jagd into no. 10. He slightly stumbled at the beginning of no. 10. Wonder if he accidentally left it out and realised as soon as he started no. 10 or something. Who knows. I would have liked to hear it!
@@louisehollyhead6807 he didn’t play it because in that semifinal he played The comisionated work, and he didn’t have enough time to play all the studies. The semifinal’s duration is only 1 hour playing.
After hearing Rach 3 remastered, I'm very excited to see Liszt's Transcendental Etudes remastered also. Kholodenko's rendition of these pieces were amazing and I'm looking forward to hearing them once again.
I think it is a shame they've clearly edited out a mistake towards the end of Chasse-neige - the similar motion into contrary motion chromatic scale. It is notoriously difficult and there are a number of performances where pianists miss the Gbs at the end. Usually one hand rather than both. I think I've found the original of this and the fluff at the end of the scale is next to nothing and the clunk of the bad edit is obvious and far worse than leaving the mistake be! I don't care about occasional fluffs of which he makes quite a few within the set. Bad editing is worse!
Pity about the unmusical video direction. All those face closeups are intrusive, distracting and musically irrelevant. Many of them take the camera away from his hands at the precise moment his hands are what we want to see.
LOL He “cheats” throughout the section at 42:21 by omitting the last chord in the left hand before each jump, making it easier, and I guess none of the judges noticed. Shameful.
I bet he can play it perfectly but you gotta understand this was after 10 transcendental etudes, maybe in practicing he wasnt able to play this well anymore after playing the other ones, its stupidly difficult to play this set and he still did a great job
There are some areas that he should have played faster but slow pace almost gave me a discomfort. Also too many mistakes witnessed while he was playing.
He performed all 12 in a row! Even performing just 6 is hard enough! Trust me, I know - I've just learned Eroica, and not one of the hardest, but it is still a nightmare! Most of these etudes are written with the three handed effect. They are very very tough indeed, so any pianist who can perform all 12 in one go has my utmost respect!
Amazing how we forget all these prior first place winners. They're all phenomenal.
He plays Feux Follets staccato. Unbelievable. Fantastic.
Liszt was known for his mastery of staccato 😊 Chopin known for his mastery of legato.
April 29th 2023. I enjoyed this so very much. Thank you Mr. Kholodenko. 🌷🌷🌷 (netherlands)
Brilliant pianist. Performs not just with ease, but with an authority and grandness, the way Liszt should be performed!!

@@louisehollyhead6807 It’s not in this recording, right? Or did I miss it

@@gvelezlevy1 thanks for the explanation. Hard to choose which to miss out I guess !
Thank you ❤️
I heard of his name before but never listened to one of his performances. Those remasters are a great thing to do! Looking forward for the performance

I so look forward to hearing the remaster of Liszt done by master pianist , Vadym Kholodenko, Tuesday, 11/08. Hope I get to see you at the Kimbell !!!
Congratulations to The Cliburn for making this production available. My best regards.
Stunning. Remarkable pianist. Many thanks for uploading this.
I find it so funny how at 50:09, at the end of the trascendentales he goes like “yeah, that’s okay”
incredible, beyond words
Потрясающе!
오래전 연주곡이군요. 임윤찬군의 리스트와 비교해서 들으니 그것도 콩쿨에서 들려주었던 소중한 한곡 한곡이 귀에 맴돕니다 ^^~!
Amazing,Amazing~~!!!
Artista che amo molto.Nonostante sia schivo e' capace di grande espressivita' e comunicativa.Suono bellissimo e sempre appropriato.
Should have more views
Remastered mastery !
Kliburn. gracias. Inolvidable. ♥️. 🇮🇷. México. 😍😘
Amazing pianist!
I wonder what happened to number 9 Ricordanza?!
Probably given time constraints
Fantastico! Un grandissimo pianista col suono legato, grande padronanza del suono e del fraseggio.,un grandissimo!
Can't wait to relive these performances ♥
Four curtain calls. I'm glad he won.
Дуже дякую! Молодчина! Вадиме, грайте, будь ласка, більше української музики!
SOUND and PICTURE are NOT synched 😭😢😥

I'm sure they will never replay Ukrainian Dimitri guy's 20 second memory slip in Prokofiev Third because a mistake like can't be cut.

Has it been 10 years?
Right

Sensible, cut & dry playing, a pupil dutifully doing his homework. Not playing that deepens our understanding or appreciation of the music.
You're wrong. Sorry.
not impressed.
you can’t play this whole collection in one sitting 💀
