There are many luck-based parts of the game that could be considered unfun. Truly random cards and effects (unstable portal, Yogg, etc.) feel bad to lose to. Losing to draw-RNG can be unfun, and can be amplified by certain archetypes (combo or OTK). Polarizing matchups is unfun RNG as well. I believe that discover perfectly walks the line between allowing for player choice and exciting randomness. TL;DR Discover isn't anywhere near as oppressive as other forms of true RNG, and some randomness is healthy for the game.

Even decks without legendaries were viable, like midrange hunter and zoo warlock. Good for f2p, good for most classes, and 100% better than the jade/pirate meta that came before it. Tar creeper, stonehill defender, primordial drake, and other neutral cards were great too. Ungoro definitely has to be my favorite.

It was great aspecially due to having basically no meta as no one knew how to play the game Missing that "random play" moments like blessing of kings + blessed champion a raging worgen I don't think it would work nowadays tho, without the "new game" factor
I've enjoyed constructed only at LoE and Ungoro. Rest, not so much. Gadgetzan was terrible for constructed, but really fun for arena. Kobold and Catacombs was mediocre, but PvE mode was fantastic.

I agree, but Aggro shaman was the best deck at the time and I feel like most people just ignore that when thinking back.
@@henryzelman4541 Tbf though, from what I understand (I wasn't around at the time) Aggro Shaman really took off the expansions afterwards, with even more cancerous versions, first with Patches and Pirates, and then with stuff like Spirit Claws. So in comparison (though I see where you're coming from), I think people really hated the class more afterwards.
Funny to think that agro shaman was nerfed in late WoToG only to transform itself into even more powerfull ( tho at least less anoying ) mid-range shaman.
Wow I’m surprised so many people agree on this. I just hated Old Gods meta and almost quitted the game because of it... Cthun was pain, Yogg turned the game into flipping coins, Nzoth was even worse pain and I hated shaman (but that works fot every shaman ever so no matter 🤣🤣) At least you had a good time
whispers of the old gods was the only one I wanted to see it was just... beautiful.
Ow yes, I still remember the times of C'thun and all the kripp video's, so many fun times.
Everyone talking about the expansion they joined HS and praising it to the moon and back
> I joined during TGT :(
me too. naxx, blackrock, GVG, and TGT were the expansions when I started playing.
Me too kid. Me too.
@@Danzilla1996 same
shout out to grand tournament for introducing the improved hero power, which I think was one of the things that made a lot of solo content really fun, and has even influenced new cards. Also I would've put frozen throne even higher, I personally just had tons of fun that expansion. Fighting the lich king over and over to get Arthas was... REALLY satisfying.
When you put LoE in D I seriously thought you were joking until the moment you moved on to Kobolds.
Actually, no. I thought it until the video ended. To be honest, I‘m still thinking it.
LoE was game dividing and full of frustrating cards. Seriously, was Finley good for aggro? Was Reno healthy for control? What about Brann being way too easy to break? Torch was silly, Naga broke wild, Pillager was way too good in Rogue and so on. Also, fucking Trogg, the strongest one drop of all time.
It isn't very good tbh
Alexander Ying K&C might have been impactful, but that’s not the same as good. It was a big part of Raven cards not getting much use.
Eric Schwenke I think you got my comment wrong :3
@@SomersBugtopia Also flamewaker
I love this type of content!
1. Undertaker Hunter
2. Raza Priest (pre-Raza nerf)
3. Jade Druid
4. Secret Paladin
5. Cube Lock
6. Midrange Shaman (ONIK Meta aka ‘Shamanstone’)
7. Pirate Warrior
I’m sure I’m alone here but Cube lock was personally my least favorite followed by Jade Druid
Would like to see Trump's take on this.
No, not the gamer, the president.
Probably would have Boomsdsy Project at S tier because it has the word ‘Boom’ in it.
Un' Goro : places B
Tar creeper cries in +2 attack
GvG will always be at the top for me, since it was the new expansion when I started. Also helped me get a golden mage hero (RIP MECH MAGE)
Same for me, that's why I ONLY play wild, because I am nostalgic dude :p
Same for me, started in early 2015, that's because i started that early that I only play wild exclusively (nostalgic dude :p)
I liked old gods, League of explorers and Un'goro the most I think
Yup, the same
No mention of the shudderwock!? Witchwood deserves to drop a tier just for that blunder alone.
you right. shit is fucking annoying as fuck. its a win card that just made me quit. you will waste fucking minutes for that shit to finish
Witchwood was my favorite cuz that's when I learned druid was my favorite class. Lots of fun crazy matches during witchwood. Good memorys
nah shudderwock was a minute tops. I think your thinking of the 5th or 6th shudderwock that would last all day. Good old play 10 shudderwocks in 1 turn.
Wild is like that alcoholic uncle your parents warn you about
Nope wild is fun except big priest :d
Wild is great. At least you won’t see p2w fucks like you see in Standard and people who play gimmicky decks.
but you like him because he's fun and doesn't keep annoying you all the time about things you shouldn't do.
Wild Format is the best format and currently the only way I find myself enjoying hearthstone. It's just too expansive to keep up with HS's standard meta.
Years rated
1: year of the kraken
2:classic
3: year of the mammoth
4: year of the raven
Year of the dragon seems to be pretty good already I’m guessing it’s gonna be better than classic
Year of the kraken was so bad. If the expansions after old gods didn’t exist then I will agree with you.
Oh hell no, you didn't just put LoE in D tier. I would have accepted A over S, but D? Da Fuq?
His reasoning is understandable. I mean, tunnel trogg was a nightmare for me as a new player at the time. I near quit after playing six midrange shamans in a row lol.
It’s nowhere near A or S. I agree it’s not D either though, probably a B-
Definitely a B. There were so many good cards. The only expansion I actually fully farmed for because all the legendaries had play.
Yeah, he put it in D and placed boomsday in A. Weird choice, but he put old gods in S so I can’t complain that much I guess.
Edit: he actually put boomsday in S the mad man
Just because of discover , it deserves D
Discover ruined the game
PRAISE YOGG. PRAISE C'THUN. PRAISE N'ZOTH. don't praise Y'shaarj because rez priest.
Coin Barnes YShaarj YShaarj makes me suicidal
Cool format! Agree with most of your choices except for league of explorers. It deserves a C or even a B imo.
Love the format !
Do another with Classic Legendaries
Can you give ranks to legendary cards Krip :^3
Yeah he should make like a 4 hour long vid ranking all 301 legendaries in the game
Solem did this check his you tube
@@SettTopsMe I don't see any problem.
Thank you for the video! All of you friends are super awesome!
Move Boomsday down to a and rastakan to b, then this would be pretty good 👌
Haven't watched Kripp in years but I had to see this one.
Exactly! I also was playing since closed beta, till mid season of whispers of old gods and played after that just a tiny bit. This video tho for veterans is must see I guess :D
Every hearthstone card ever tier list
5000 hour video
Really enjoying the diversification of content, Kripp! Would love to see more vids like this
I would enjoy a tier list of all the legendary cards up to date with the ranking of how good they were at their time of release and how good they are nowadays. Would take a hell of a long time to make but I'd watch it :)
Ragnaros and Sylvanas were the best legendaries.
@@kimichiii875 I feel like in classic the most impactful card (provided no polymorphs/silences instantly afterwards) was Tirion; the feeling of a well timed "Put your faith in the light" to see an aggro deck conceding was the best
@@velerios9552 Rag and Sylvanus literally had to be Hall of Famed dude
Haven’t played in 2-3 years but still watch Kripp because you can’t leave kripperino behind and your funny and cool man
Also WotOG gave us our lord and savior Yogg-Saron.
Started playing HS at WOTOG, stopped at witchwood. Best memories by far came from Yogg duels with friends
Yeah man! Hearthstone expansions became unenjoyable after WOTOG since they release so many every year.
Rise of Shadows > Frozen Throne ? Sir, couldn't disagree more
RoS has a much better balance than FT did..
I agree with kripp 100
Yea frozen throne has some bad cards, but the great ones were _just a_ *_bit_* powerful.
I'm sorry but Jaina and UI were way too broken imo
That was a great watch Kripp, thanks for sharing!
No mention of discover, the best expansion mechanic ever, in league of explorers?
Rise of Shadows 100% deserves S tier. Great well balanced set, flavorful theme, best single player mode yet, actual *buffs* for the first time ever, time just flew by with this set as opposed a majority of the other sets.
@@dummiesaywhat Its called opinions
Can't give RoS S tier at least for braindead mage decks, but for PVE content and theme it deserves A tier imo
Theme for RoS is alright. The heist is good though. Rise of Shadows is the most boring name you can come up with. Blizzard Activision just came
up with the name in 3 seconds.
@@Amandor2011 Yeah there are always going to be major misses in any expansion and conjurer's just seems like a huge misstep (just look at what they said about mage's weakness) However Mage isn't completely unstoppable killing off all diversity so I think Shadows still deserves S. Think of it like this, for every Un'Goro there is a quest Rogue
The most P2W expansions.
S: Knights, mean streets
A: GvG
B: Shadows, rumble, KoC
C: ungoro, boomsday, TGT
D: Old gods
E: all the adventure expansions.
Facts
Mean Streets by far. So many high-power legendaries *looks at Kazakus Priest*
Knights of the Frozen Throne was actually Insane. The Lore, the Singleplayer, the fuckinggggg legendaries. Everything was Insane man
I wasn’t playing HS when Frozen Throne came out (more important things like exams were in the way) and I remember everyone during WOTOG wanted a Lich King themed expansion.
Ungoro, knights of the frozen throne, and kobolds and catacombs was the best time in hearthstone IMO
Cameron Carper, I agree, we were saved from the jades and Patches apocalypse.
@@Shooshawali they couldve nerfed jade druid or completely delete it like they did to genn and Baku. Patches is honestly just a 1/1 with charge that comes out for free IF you play a pirate. It wasnt game deciding. Patches was fine.
"Who am I? None of your business"
"Bring out your dead"
"Charge forward!.... A fight count me in... My blade be thirsty... Everyone get in here, everyone get in here, everyone get in here, everyone get in here"
"Troggs rule"
"We're gonna be rich"
If you remember any of these from back in the day you're an OG.
Dang I liked LOE and KOTFT. Thought they would be A tier (potentially S Tier).
This is the quality content I subbed for
League of Explorers was the best expansion
Change My Mind
Matthew Watson it really was the best personally for me it had the funnest cards out of any expansion
Based on the teaser, you might be happy about the next expansion then. :V
I have played since the beginning. My favourite overall is Nax. But my favourite cards of the whole game are the death knight hero cards. Dalaran heist is great too.
Ungoro was by far the best expancion this game had so far
Definitely have to agree here. It came right after the shitty Gadgetzan meta, which in my opinion was one of the worst we've seen. Sure, pirates and quest rogues may have been a problem, but i think almost every class was represented somehow in the Ungoro meta and quests were fun af.
I usually rarely watch gameplay videos anymore now that i'm on twitch mostly and only go for such videos! Keep it up!
Just thinking i play Hearthstone since before nax. Very good game just hard to have good decks so i play adventures arena and brawls
Just be good in Arena 4Head. Seriously though, been playing since pre-Nax as well and have most cards by averaging 7 wins each Arena run.
Mrzanetti100 You know, you dont have to be a dick about it
same
Mrzanetti100 Arena rewards are crap. 3 wins is average, But you have to get at least 7 to not lose money from arena. My average is around 6 wins I think, but I feel like I’m slowly losing money from arena. The only upside is that I have opened a lot of packs as a free to play player
Same bro
Whispers got me back into the game after taking a solid break. Ot was AMAZING. That expansion singlehandedly revived the game. Well done blizz
Great Content!! love these kind of videos, any type of ranking ones!
I came on board during Whispers of the Old Gods. I can confirm that this expansion was extremely fun! As a brand-new player, I was most enjoying my spell damage mage, and then my C'Thun decks! I am so glad that at that time they just gave everyone C'Thun! Very fun!
Tier list for Hearthstone? lol
For me ungoro, koft, wotg, and RoS are the best expansions
Ungoro is really up there that was such a good expansion. Stonehill defender and the little Tar dude are sorely missed.

@@abrakadaniel5908 Ow yeah another good one.
A fair and fun one drop.

LOE remake inc( probably)

KoFT was the best expansion. Everything is balanced when everyone is OP
It was pretty good during that expansion. Only problem was it took a year and a half to recover from the insane power creep.
Meanwile on UA-cam:
Let's give Kripp russian subtitles
My lIst:
S: Kobolds, Old Gods
A: Ungoro, Frozen Throne, Explorers
B: Rise of Shadows, Gadgetzan, Witchwood
C: Rastakhan, Classic, GvG
D: Boomsday, Blackrock, Nax
E: Tournament, Karazhan
Year of the mammoth was the best year on average imo
Best list for me too, I would put Rise of Shadow A, LoE S (I'm a Wild player so biased), and Grand Tournament F (yes, it's that fucking bad, Karazhan at least provided an adventure and playable cards).
Overpowered cards that demolished the meta tier list.
I cannot believe Knights isn't S tier and Boomsday is. It was phenomenal. From death Knights to single player adventure. Pure Gold that expansion was. It is your list and of course we like different things, but i was surprised knights only got a B . I would also give Explorers an A.
the madman ranked league of explorers rank D....
my tier list
S: Un'goro, Whispers
A: Ratakhan's, League of Explorers, Rise of Shadows
B: Knight's, Classic, Blackrock
C: Boomsday, Gadgetzan, Kobolds
D: Naxx, Karazhan, GvG
F: Grand Tournament, Witchwood
Had to look through your tier list because I thought you forgot Mean Streets of Gadgetzan because it wasn't in F tier.
19:59 Come on now Kripp. We all know Well of Eternity and Ilidan story arc is the best.
Kripp: Purify was such a bad card!
B.B.Jr: Say that to my unicorn priest!
My personal S tier would be:
1. Knights of the Frozen Throne
2. Naxxramus
3. Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
I'm floored by how many expansions there've been.
Too much hate to adventures, can't really complain about them being easy, of course they easy when you have every card from every previous expansion
Exactly. I was a noob when Naxrammas came out and it was very challenging. Kripp had all the good cards at that time.
It was nice hearing about the cards and combos of other expansions before i started playing.
First few expansions was a very good time for Hearthstone.
Boomsday S tier?
Rumble A tier?
Loe D tier?
How much did team give pay you to up the latest expansions 🙄
You misspelled "Your opinion does not match mine, therefore you're wrong. No need to argue more."
I hope they create a vanilla Hearthstone server we can play. I did not get to play until after the first expansion.
It was great aspecially due to having basically no meta as no one knew how to play the game
Missing that "random play" moments like blessing of kings + blessed champion a raging worgen
I don't think it would work nowadays tho, without the "new game" factor
a fine list that I can agree on most aspects to... but....
how dare you play my boy Reno so dirty and put LoE in D???
This is the absolute last place I expected a list video to appear, and yet somehow I'm not shocked at all.
I've enjoyed constructed only at LoE and Ungoro. Rest, not so much.
Gadgetzan was terrible for constructed, but really fun for arena.
Kobold and Catacombs was mediocre, but PvE mode was fantastic.
Witchwood was my favorite for all the druid decks. So many combo druid decks. Tons of fun. I still play taunt druid in wild.
Grand tourney was my favorite expansion because of control warrior lol
I feel that it's kinda tough to rank the expansions themselves, because what makes of breaks an expansion is the synergy with other standard legal ones. So it would make more sense to rank the metas between the launch of two expansions. You shouldntry that in the future, Kripp.
I think the list of my favorite hearthstone cards is literally just the list of cards from league of explorers but without tunnel trogg.
Naxxramas was just theme wise such an amazing expansion imo, loved the pve, loved the art of the cards. I just enjoy playing random decks with cool minions,.
Hol up. Grim patrons get a c? Boi.
Edit: should be S
Yeah, seeing BM at C rank is kinda sad. But let's be honest here it's not S tier either. WOTG's rank has to be SS then BM can be S.
Grim Patron deck was so annoying but great at the same time. A strong deck where you actually have to be skilled instead of a being weeb.
my top 3:
1. Journey to Un'goro
2. League of Explorers
3. Whispers of the Olde gods
Rank all the Kripp-based novelty accounts lmao
RaniasBloodyTampon should at least win the silver.
Old gods is when I started playing, and mean streets is when I stopped. Not surprised the ranking really reflects that
Hearthstone is F tier
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is S tier
For me though, Rastakhan is the worst expansion, and Un'goro and Rise of Shadows are the best.
They actually removed the "heroes of warcraft" after the introduction of Morgl the Oracle lol
Rastakhan is in no world the worst, it's actually trying and lowered the power level.
Sweaty Woman I can't put my finger on exactly why I don't like it. I stopped playing for a while, and even with 2 balance patches the meta felt really stale the whole expansion.
@@milos1967 It's not explosive and OP, that's why. Seriously, people just wanted more bullshit so a boring expansion bothered people. Don't blame you for leaving though.
I can't believe how much the perception of the older expansions has changed over the years. I remember when everyone was saying that league of explorers was the best expansion when it came out. I like how whispers of the old gods is still considered the best expansion besides that though.
