Greatest song of my marriage years.. still holds true to this day for me.. I'm still "The Church" fan for this song though.. resonates to my life of the 1990's
Musicians gravitate toward great songs. And this my friends is one of the Greatest. Well done Steve Kilbey and The Church. Thank you. This classic has been a huge part of my life.
The Killers prove that they have a very distinctive taste of music as the cover really great songs by brilliant band like this gem by The Church. They've also performed the Waterboys' «The Whole Of The Moon» and even «Rain In The Summertime» by The Alarm. Great!
The original appeared on my Max Sedgly Pandora station of all places. Now hopelessly hooked on The Church and their sublime inventive timeless dream pop. Their new AND old shit sounds fresh af. Apparently never put out a bad album in 30+ years. Kilbey cracked in concert once that there are like 500 crappy covers of this so I went cringe-surfing just to torture myself. Obvi this ain't one. LOVE what Brandon does with covers in general. The Chairlift vocal trade-offs here raise the drama level so nicely. *Goosebumps* when female voice comes in aghhhh! If only more artists were able to stay so young-sounding, honest, prolific, and relevant as they age. The road less traveled. Kilbey & Co are my musician role models, straight up.
I found out about The Church's classic tune from the most unlikely of sources - a UK band called Six By Seven, who had a top 50 hit in 2002 with a tune called I.O.U Love - which is almost a note-for-note take off of Under The Milky Way..... Since I also enjoyed the film Donnie Darko, I remember the song from that as well.
The original from this one hit wonder is one of the best one hit wonders of the 80's, somehow the church never got too many decent songs since but remain a cult band
By far not as good as the original. I've been a great fan since my childhood of The Church , a band which really would have deserved to gain more celebrity.
i understand this is sort of a space for fans of this band, so dont waste your time...if they treat all songs like they did with one of the greatest ever written, the name of the band is well picked...
I love UTMW by The Church. Always have, always will. I have heard quite a few good cover versions. But sorry, this is bad. Really bad. None of the singers has a feeling for this song. I hope I will never hear this again.
@popfrend - Its called commercialized music. Just like sports such as Football which Americans call Soccer and its not and will not become popular in USA due to its lack of time for commercial, great bands like Church will not be as popular in US, while they are icons in AUS. Remember when Led Zeplin started out they were ignored, put down & criticized to death as too heavy for their time. 1 more problem, Rap was coming out when Church began its carrier. History will speak for itself my friend.
a typical American cover of a once classic tune. overblown and overstated. you would think that between 2 male singers (and a female) you could delegate at least one voice to harmony.

This was a nice surprise! I like the Killers, but I have loved the Church since the 80's.

Two of my favorite bands, the church & killers from different generations...how awesomely cool...thanks heaps perfekt
I've changed my mind. I've listened to all The Killers' records and I find them amazing. They have that thing only great bands have.
wish there was a studio version of this =(
That other guy has an amazing voice. Even the audience which came for the Killers makes an audible cheer when he 1st sings.
The dude from chairlift owns this performance. His voice is insane.
Always great Cover songs
Eu gravito nas dimensões superiores com The Killers.
Um salve a todos direto do Brasil.
All the negative posts must not be aware of the impact The Church has had on several genres of music.
Nope. Not one bit. I miss the Ploog days. Way more aggressive than the crap now.
Eu já era Fã do The Killers...
Depois dessa,fiquei mais ainda!👏👏👏
What a collaboration! I love it. Especially the guy in Chairlift. He's so cool and with that dark awesome voice. Great
Hell yeah, the great Under the Milky Way by The Church
cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from a BIG Church fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is by far the best quality audience video from a rock show I've ever seen. Thanks for posting the details about the camera.
Que lindo isso!!
Belíssima homenagem!!
Nice cover. Thanks for remembering the great 80's artists.
it just shows that great songs lift the tides of even average bands, still nicely done.
It's nice to know that Brandon likes The Church, even he sings this song a touch too high.
The Church beatifully covered thx!
Wow great cover from band the Church
This is so awesome!
how the heck did i miss this?! great stuff.....
T O P S O N G. I just found this and I think wow!
the killers + the church= win/win!
i love chairlift so so much it hurts
best cover i have seen of this song. imo
sadly much better than anything on the last 2 killers albums...
Awesome!!
Great voices.

Excellent. No Koppes solo but does the job nicely.
Touche
Awesome, long live the choich!

Great song and great job on filming. I want your camera!
Wtf, the best song ever whit the best band ever!!!!??? :D
Good,guys!
Wow 🔥
pretty sweet spot
Really nice cover! But I like The Church's version the most
Great!
ALUCINANTE!!!
Dave, and Mark, really played this well
@permanentbliss1 one hit wonders? what r u talking about? One of the better Australian bands of all time.
Great. ...
Love this song, but Brandon's rather OTT vocals (a full octave higher - why?), make it a tad comical!
Is thay Caroline Polachek?
Cool! Love this song (and the band that wrote it, The Church).
@anovato yes you're right ^^
@Kamikukamiku Actually i think he sings it great..much closer to how Steve from The Church sings it.
Aaron Pfenning and Brandon Flowers on one stage? That's so much sexiness.
Touche
YEAH! GO CHOICH!
Who is the Male Blond Singer?
Bloody Frkin sheit yeh
The original from this one hit wonder is one of the best one hit wonders of the 80's, somehow the church never got too many decent songs since but remain a cult band
Freakin awesome! and the chick has the same mike performance as I when singing lmao!
No, ya messed this up. Nothing beats the Church
Excellent. No Koppes solo but does the job nicely.
Brandyyy :D
COOOOL!! XD
awesome cover of a great classic.. much better than the kill hannah version.. PUKE..
who is the woman?
By far not as good as the original. I've been a great fan since my childhood of The Church , a band which really would have deserved to gain more celebrity.
@BermanTV yea who doesnt
@oceanchange
Its not the "Killers'. Its The Killers. Just sayin :)
@poupyma91 Tommy is the best!
Not as good as The church version, but at least it get's Kilbey's music spread to the masses. Check out the version by PS22 Chorus.
I don't like The Killers very much (and I love the whole The Church's work), but this cover is awesome.
Caroline Polachek of the duo "Chairlift" I think she is great !!!!
Google her...
@LordChoxy What's your problem?
tommy marth is so cool
Great version and lots of cliched, awkward stage movement from the 'front people'
Caroline Polachek \ Chairlift rules
The Ireland batpipes melody its not the original :(
(La melodía de la gaita irlandesa no es la original :( )
Uggghhh why why why why god?!?!?
i understand this is sort of a space for fans of this band, so dont waste your time...if they treat all songs like they did with one of the greatest ever written, the name of the band is well picked...
EXQUISITE!
buen tributo a the church. pero este tema no es para ustedes
Nice try on the Steve Kilbey imitation. I'm sure he'd be quite flattered, lol!
I love UTMW by The Church. Always have, always will. I have heard quite a few good cover versions. But sorry, this is bad. Really bad. None of the singers has a feeling for this song. I hope I will never hear this again.
I PREFER THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE CHURCH...WHAT CAN I SAY.......
Not as good as The Church, but still better than Sia. The fact that this song gets covered by so many people says alot about The Church.
@popfrend - Its called commercialized music. Great cover but the bagpipes work so much better than that sax...
a typical American cover of a once classic tune. overblown and overstated. you would think that between 2 male singers (and a female) you could delegate at least one voice to harmony.
So, is it the problem of americans covering an aussie band or what else? Like the Church had awesome harmony. And, I love the Church.
I vehemently disagree.
Way too fast to breathe !!!!!!
Coheed and Cambria version is better
who the fuck are the killers?
Voices way too sharp and too low/flat. Not a fan. :/
Way to butcher a perfectly lovely song.
Half of those people don't know what the hell this song is or who it's by. The destruction of music.
The guy in the middle can't sing.
