Steve Kilbey, thank you for everything you have done over the years. If your songs were painting sir, they would be on every wall and every pocket. God blessed you...
The first few seconds in, I was wondering where Marty and Peter were. A few moments later I was amazed that The Church are still at the same level with the new members. Sounds great. Love the new material.
Such a great voice. It's so good to have the Church making music again. 🤟🏼 That was a really nice acknowledgment to how Music of the Church helped you cope. It was a warm blanket for many of us out here. Songs that are relevant forever. 🫵🏼 🎶❤️🌎👈🏼
6 …. Don’t forget Tim!, extremely talented musicians, each knowing his craft immaculately. The sound is great. I know they jokingly said there’s a film in the works but you know it would fly…..

it's a shame that just 31.800 people have watched this. Criminally underrated band. People this days just prefer to hear and watch the "sons and daughters" of this band and their legacy.
Saw them at the University of Wollongong in 1983, and have been hooked ever since. Off to see them again in a few weeks in Philly! So excited. Wonderful band!
THE MOST TALENTED BAND IN MY LIFETIME ❤❤ FROM THEIR FIRST GIG IN NYC....NOW 2024....THEY ARE FINALLY GETTING THIS RECOGNITION ❤❤❤❤ I LISTEN TO THEM ALWAYS🎉 GENIUS ❤❤
Just a shout-out to John, and maybe Steve too ... I had the same thing from the Starfish album ... I had a depression going on ... thought that a move would help. Didn't. Then a bit of living with someone. Made it worse. Took time out to get things together a bit. Kept this one album on near constant rotation. Why? Because it doesn't reinforce one particular mood, but it doesn't present anything emotionally irrelevant either. And that album has the best two-song bring-you-home in the world: A New Season and Hotel Womb. The fact of it helping you to experience different moods before pulling you through an 'onslaught of calm" ... this gives the album a somewhat therapeutic edge to it. So, thanks to Steve, Richard, Peter and Marty for that one. And, for everything since then, thanks to everyone else, too. And, to John, thank you for opening up about Starfish. I think there may be many of us for whom there was some degree of healing from listening to it.
Such an amazing band! This past October we got to see their concert in Clearwater Florida and they did not disappoint. Thanks KEXP for having them on your show.
This IS The Church. Thank you, Steve, Ian, Jeffrey, Ash, and Nick for this amazing music and love the two new albums and future albums. See you in the Pacific Northwest again!
I bought this album the day I shaved for the first time. My dad gave me a razor and some shaving cream. I went to Strawberry Records and bought this album. 1988.
When I was but a wee lil lad and a wee little lad was mee’ Starfish Still were found on the shores O’ Maryland O’sCity! I climbed into a sycamore tree…
Still haven't seen them live. Had plans to see them at The Zoo in the Valley years ago, but they cancelled their show the night of. Was so crestfallen lol. This kinda makes up for it 😎
While I am happy to hear this I am more happy for John. I was listening when he announced that he was going to be hosting the Church, yes him John Richards hosting the CHURCH, in the same room! You did a great job my friend! And they sounded great.
I concur!. BSL is a must for KEXP. Songs such as The Prisoner, DNA, The Fear, Leave, Spin, Relax and Breath, Behind Your Window just to name a few.... Even better, BSL go out and support The Church on there next big Aussie tour. Now that would be heaven...
8min in, when the singer reply about the city where the band had a hard time, I was SURE he would say Paris :P I live here and go to many gigs. Not to put the blame on the bands, but while 'we' can be a tough audience, we can also give a lot to the bands. As long as they don't take it for granted that the audience will like them ;) Ask Queen of the Stone Age (Nick Oliveri era) how wild it's been when they came for Songs for the Deaf. Or Micah P Hinson who apparently had a good time last time he came over... But on the other hand, ask the Beastie Boys how they got treated when they did that gig in Elysee Montmartre and started acting 'cocky'. They sure did not see that one coming! Or Kasabian, the Flaming Lips or any bands that showed up thinking it was granted that people will cheer. Well it ain't granted. I have more good memories of bonding with the bands than bad ones though... hopefully The Church will get back on conquer Paris.
Saying “This is The Church” is tantamount to saying “Roger Waters is Pink Floyd”. It’s Steven Kilbey with some decent musicians who listened to The Church, like John.
Sorry but The Church has always been Steve Kilbey as the main songwriter... and for a good reason too. What else should they be called? It's not his fault the others left the band... Stop being a knob.
The Church has always been Steve’s band as he’s mentioned in an interview. As the original and long running members move on, it becomes his band exclusively.
Steve Kilbys voice is on another level.
I had the privilege of seeing The Church at The Caverns in Tennessee on 4/8/2024. What an ethereal experience. Just beautiful.
Steve Kilbey is an incredibly poetic artist. What a presence. Long live The Church!
i saw them live for the first time in october. was an incredible performance and an awesome atmosphere
I wasn't going to watch this, you know save it for another day but started watching it and well . . . i'm still watching it.
Teared up at the end of this. Lovely story how one album can be the all you need at the time.
Priest = Aura is still one of my fav albums ....pure gold 😊
Steve Kilbey, thank you for everything you have done over the years. If your songs were painting sir, they would be on every wall and every pocket. God blessed you...
43 years later I still listen and love The Church.
The first few seconds in, I was wondering where Marty and Peter were. A few moments later I was amazed that The Church are still at the

Jeffrey Cain is a genius. Isidore records are fabulous.
Absolutely
Such a great voice. It's so good to have the Church making music again. 🤟🏼

The SOUND in this performance is ASTOUNDING, as are The Church. Long Live.
Albert Ross, rocking so hard acoustically. Only Steve and the Church are so 50 light years ahead of the times.

Wow John! A warm blanket. What an analogy and to be able to say that face to face to Steve! That’s great. The power of music!
Im pretty high on ski and digging this perfume guitars band
Exactly
Great to see Ash Naylor in the lineup, there's aural gold dust on everything he touches!
With a badge celebrating the Pies flag!
"Unguarded Moment" remains to this day, one of the most soulful and ethereal rock songs ever penned! My Church! ❤
Saw them at the University of Wollongong in 1983, and have been hooked ever since. Off to see them again in a few weeks in Philly! So excited. Wonderful band!

I've been a Church fan since I first discovered them in 1981. Apart from Steve Kilbey, a totally different line-up - yet unmistakably The Church
YES!
The sound just evolved, as did the band. I got into them the same time, and am still a fan.
Just a shout-out to John, and maybe Steve too ...

Another musical discovery! Thank you KEXP!
You have plenty to catch up. If you don’t mind me saying it, I’d start with their album Priest=Aura. 👊🏼
misses Under the Milky Way, they most know song.
Such an amazing band! This past October we got to see their concert in Clearwater Florida and they did not disappoint. Thanks KEXP for having them on your show.
since the mid-eighties, they fill my heart with magical emotions
This IS The Church. Thank you, Steve, Ian, Jeffrey, Ash, and Nick for this amazing music and love the two new albums and future albums. See you in the Pacific Northwest again!
If you don’t love Australian bands then you don’t love music!
I bought this album the day I shaved for the first time. My dad gave me a razor and some shaving cream. I went to Strawberry Records and bought this album. 1988.
WOW !!!!!! I Loved these guys when I was young !!!! Really was the soundtrack/ background music to my life.
Outstanding performance, this one
The CHURCH es mi banda de ROCK favorita, la mas grande todos los tiempos...
Hey, what a great song to begin with!
Steve Kilbey is the only original member left and yet they still sound like the Church
Church for ever!☝️
One of the world's most under rated band. Starfish was on constant rotation in my youth.
Absolutely amazing album!
I agree, most people have never heard of them, even back in the early 90’s most people didn’t know of them.
When I was but

They need to have “The Alarm” on here 💪
Отличный канал! Здоровские группы! Очень приятно слушать и смотреть! Спасибо.
I appreciate the story telling and excellent music.
The Church!!!!! 🙌🏼
Still haven't seen them live. Had plans to see them at The Zoo in the Valley years ago, but they cancelled their show the night of. Was so crestfallen lol. This kinda makes up for it 😎
Glad to see the boys still at it! STARFISH is an all time classic!!
that was so beautiful
Realm of Minor Angels is as good as anything The Church have ever done. They've soundtracked so much of my life and I can never thank SK + co enough
The blurred Crusade album is an absolute jewel!
👏👏💕
While I am happy to hear this I am more happy for John. I was listening when he announced that he was going to be hosting the Church, yes him John Richards hosting the CHURCH, in the same room! You did a great job my friend! And they sounded great.
God Bless the Church ! could ye get " Black Swan Lane " in to play sometime . Thanks KEXP 🙂
BSL is a must for KEXP!!!

Soooooooooooo good!! 🔥🔥🔥
🖤🖤🖤
Starfish. Timeless.
Priest = Aura is even better😊
Hologram of Baal, After Everything Now This, Untitled #23... the list goes on...
Uninvited, like the clouds.
Back with Two Beasts

Does anyone know what the guitarist is holding at 03:27? It looks like a device with laser that holds the sound?
It is called an Ebow. A magnet that vibrates the strings.
Wow, thank you!@@CommunicatingVessels
😊.
NICE :D
Be nice to have a link to the book.
Roy wood has and always will have the best split ends in the business ,
Where's Tim Powell?
Asked myself the same question. He‘s called Tim Powles, though.
Sorry for the misspelled last name.@@quokkanase
That’s a lot of guitarists for one band.
That's one big mouth for one face . . .
Take your sorry arse off to Google, search Glenn Branca, then stay there.
Well, when you love guitars you need guitarists, how is it a problem?
@@jimbojones101 I don't think he meant that as an insult.
Saying “This is The Church” is tantamount to saying “Roger Waters is Pink Floyd”. It’s Steven Kilbey with some decent musicians who listened to The Church, like John.
Agreed. And since when do they need THREE guitars?
why not?! they sound incredible@@wayneobass9774

Can never have too many guitars
This is more like Steve Kilbey’s band. Definitely not The Church.
and sadly Steve appears to have no desire to write a hook or a chorus.
Yeah. I am sad now. 😞
Bands change over time.

Nonsense, it is absolutely The Church and every bit as valid as earlier iterations.
