QUADROPHENIA- Love, Reign O'er Me (W/ Lyrics!) Pt. 10

- Quadrophenia is the sixth album by the English rock band The Who. Released on 19 October 1973, Quadrophenia is a double album, and the group's second rock opera. Its story involves social, musical, and psychological happenings from an English teenage perspective, set in London and Brighton in 1964 and 1965. The name is a variation on the incorrect popular usage of the medical diagnostic term schizophrenia as multiple personality disorder to reflect the four distinct personalities of Jimmy, the opera's protagonist-each said to represent the personality of one member of The Who. The title also referenced the Quadraphonic sound schemes then being introduced.
Song Included: 17) Love, Reign O'er Me
Enjoy the Quad. series. Feel free to comment and rate, and even feedback about my series. Thanks!
im 17 and this is one of the best songs ive ever heard, i love how the who can stretch across generations and still be loved
You have good taste
Alex, you have just defined what classical music is. Did you realize that? Good job, 17. ( From a 64) 👍🌅
Music is timeless.
Your 30 now lol funny to see old comments
This track is something else - such a thought provoking tune. This movie will live with me forever
Listening to this tonight at age 67. This song never ceases to amaze me.
oh! and as i added my comment above...at age 72.
One of Daltrey’s best performances. Absolutely mind blowing.
I'm an old man now but listening to this makes me feel young again. Rock Never Dies!!!
I love how the whole double album leads up to this song, lyrically, musically, thematically.... Quadrophenia is the greatest concept album ever written.
only love can can stretch over such a course,of time reign o,er me dare I say Brighton Rocks and I still have a scooter. less mirrors these days though however , off a dry and dusty road
I think this production did it for Townsend. I know he had later themes, but Tommy, then this, seem to be the pinnacle of his lyric operas. Is that the right term?
This is without a doubt Townshend's greatest composition. Roger Daltry just nails it. What a great and outstanding vocal. And Keith Moon's drums just adds to the emotion. Beautiful.
Keith Moon and his tiny white diet pills were very popular when this was being recorded
One of the most wonderful songs by the best rock'n'roll band of all time. Simple as that.
The greatest ending to the greatest album ever.
1982 Rich Stadium Buffalo, the clouds come in and it starts to gently rain. The Who launch into Love Reign O'er Me, and tears come to my ears. Best rock-n-roll moment EVER!
Wow!!! lucky you!!!
1982, Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky. The first of how many farewell tours? My friend's father insisted on driving us up and back from Knoxville. Thank God he did, I owe him my life.
One of the best Who songs ever ! Full of desire and need urgency Passion
I listened to this album when I was 16 and fell in love with every song 👍 I’m now 45 and still love it x 👍
I just posted...Made love to my high school lover....16, he was 17. Last night, 50 years later, and I love that man like crazy....like the sweat of lover's laying in the fields....Looove!
Here's to passion, keep love alive!
Brilliant album but this track is pure genius and Rogers vocals are just amazing!
One the best song written by Pete Townsend. With Roger Daltery’s vocals are amazing. Just a great legendary performance.
I just turned fifty, but I have been a WHO fan since I could barely walk. Particularly Keith Moon, as it was he and John Bonham who inspired me to become the drummer that I am. Can anyone actually fathom what faculties and imagination are involved with writing something on the scale of Quadrophenia? And then playing it? Then touring with it? It is beyond almost everyone I can think of. There are a few like Pink Floyd with their brilliant, concept oriented offerings and maybe Zeppelin just because they ARE ZEPPELIN. Maybe the Beatles. I listen to these albums from these people and I am still awed after all these years. Makes me wonder if albums like Quadrophenia, Dark Side Of the Moon and Zep II and IV and Sgt. Pepper's will triumph throughout the decades and centuries along with the Classical Giants, assuming humanity survives.
Excellent!!! Thank you and regards.
Even if humanity survives, they will be enslaved to computers. We will never reach highs like this again. RIP music.
Don't forget Tales From Topographic Oceans :)
Questions often pondered, long; may LOVE Reign over us !
Thy will
Probably Roger Daltry's finest vocal ever.Just an amazing range .Hits those highs with such power and amazing ease.
Love this very much .Ty for sharing
xxoXXO
Allison
Wondering if this might have inspired Rutger Hauers ‘ famous tears in rain monologue in Blade Runner.
Absolutely one of the greatest, most beautifully powerful songs ever written and performed. What else can I say?
totally fucking right
100% agree
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME!
My lover, Donald gave me this album in the 70's. I will always lovingly remember him and our time together💜
Still get thrills all these years later. Best song on the best album by the best band ever.
That is all.
Definitely the best Who song!! Ever.
my brother gave me this album for my 18th birthday, forty years gone thank you dave, and thank you who for the great music
BRILLIANT! Absolutely brilliant! Sure puts the crap pumped out these days in perspective--doesn't it?
Only love can make it rain
The way the beach is kissed by the sea
Only love can make it rain
Like the sweat of lovers laying in the fields
Love reign o'er me
Love reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me
Only love can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky
Only love can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high
Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me
Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me
On the dry and dusty road
The nights we spend apart alone
I need to get back home to cool, cool rain
I can't sleep and I lay and I think
The night is hot and black as ink
Ooh God, I need a drink of of cool, cool rain
Love, reign o'er me
Rain o'er me, over me, o'er me, oh
Love reign o'er me
O'er me
Love
Easily one of the best closing tracks of all time. It just perfectly sums up all of the emotions of the album and provides the perfect amount of closure.
I first got this album then an 8 track tape, I played the tape so much that first summer I had to buy another. The absolute best the Who has ever done.
I installed Rogers alarm system when he lived in Hurst Berks. Listened to Joe Cocker on his Hi-Fi downstairs whilst he was upstairs. Never met him only his lady. Great times.
this song still sends shivers up my spine roger and keith mood at there best
John entwistle isn't too bad here either.
No one can perform these vocals but Daltry... One of the best front man/ vocalist ever...
Bout a year ago i was on the street waiting for a bus when I got a text saying my Mom had died. I just started playing this song over and over. It killed the pain. Played in my head for months
I'm so sorry. Losing your mother is the hardest thing in life.
@@QueenCeleste2 thanks. I appreciate your concern. 🫠
Quadrophenia is not only my favorite Who album, but it is probably my favorite album to listen to of all time. I will admit I did not like it when I first heard it, but grows on you quickly and you can feel the emotions of the songs as the groups interprets the mod lifestyle of Jimmy Cooper. The Rock happens to be my favorite track on it, but Love Reign O'er Me is a heck of a song to end this album. Long live the Who! RIP Moonie and The Ox
I put this album in my top 5 of all time! This is what rock and roll is all about.
That explosive final chord ends one of the greatest rock albums of all time.
Bought the album, It had so much more meaning after seeing the Movie with my Friends, A total Rollercoaster of feelings and Emotions, from the Sea!!!1 *)
Bell Boy!!! got to get running now!!! *)
This song sums it up. It sums up the human condition. It speaks for all the poets and preachers. It reaches down into the aching heart of a man and holds it up high to God and begs for the rain of mercy to wash away the pain of man's corruption and brokenness. At the end there is only one hope. The Reign of a God who loves., Who reaches out and draws us up to Himself, giving us the life giving water of his cool cool rain.
Love ur words❤❤
I think this album is so underated...
A perfect end to a perfect album!!!
This song makes me cry.
Because it's about love.
Because of the humanity on display here, which we have now lost to technology.
Frying in the summer of 76 London. Graham and I singing to the top of our voices. Going house to house, waiting for Ice cubes...... Graham 59 - 81 still tears.
After a spell of checking out much of my The Who cds, I believe that this tune is one of the best vocal deliveries from Roger Daltrey & Quadrophenia, my favourite Who "Rock Opera" !
It's 12:30 a.m. where I'm at, pouring, all the lights are out, listening to this song...I have found inner tranquility.
Quadrophenia was released a few weeks after I first met the woman who would become my wife. The album, and especially this magnificent song, was an important element of our soundtrack during those early, wildly passionate weeks of our lifelong love affair. When she passed away earlier this year we'd been married 47 years. Thanks for helping make the memories, Pete.
This is it, when all ends and only this song can remain
❤ One of the All Time Best Who Songs❤
Love it, still after all these years!
One of my all time fav albums of all time!
I swear this is a true story. I saw The Who in Tampa Stadium years back. They used this song to totally change the vibe of the show. When the backing track of a rain storm began (honestly this is the truth) there was a slight sputtering of rain that lasted through the first verse then it stopped and never rained again through out the show. At first I thought someone had a squirt gun and was shooting water but I looked around and everyone around us was sensing the same thing. Awesome!
The WHO. The BEST
Forget the new version... Thats the real and incredible stuff *****!!!!!
I saw the movie and this song really sold that movie.
so nostalgic i can hardly stand it. the love. the memories. the brilliant times. gone.
If you never saw the who- they were the ultimate band- Let it rain..Love can make the rain..
Did this play in high school back in 74...what a blast...learned every note in my head...Thank You Gregg.
No band no artist can touch this song - it's perfect and it is brilliant.
i believe you
This song stirs down to the very depths of my soul. Forever it will Rein O'er Me! Thank you for posting!
fantástico!!grande tema de um dos melhores álbuns dos The Who
Quadrophenia the film is a classic. I like Ace The Face as "Bellboy"! (played by Sting) and Jimmy's reaction when he realizes what Ace The Face does for a living...
thank god i have this on vinyl
Yeah
Vinyl beats all! Streaming, CD's, cassettes, 8-tracks...
@@shutupandmakemeasandwich6991 me too ,putting that needle on the vynal adds to the whole thrill. Incredible!!!

I saw them live in concert last sunday and when they did this song it blew my mind! so amazing.
I think this is the best song I've ever heard
Thanks so much, Jason ! First time I heard this I was 15, in 1981. It was my cousin ( luckly his name was not KEVIN...lol ) to lend me the album... QUADROPHENIA , the MOD movement and THE WHO will never die !!!
Haha. I'm sorry it took so long, and sorry to the rest of my viewers who like the Quadrophenia series. But it's up, so enjoy it! Haha.
Thankyou it's a concept l p
This song always put my skin like a chicken, is one of my favorites
wonderful, the best band of all time
Quad, is beauty, depth, energy and noble intent. So, many goosebumps, emotional highs and also sublime lows.I so Love this true masterpiece! Yes, not since Kanye Wests lip sync babble dribble has anything shown us the difference between grunt like tripe and exqusite sound wave caviar.
what an Lp, out standing it really touched my soul to hear such a sound & the feeling it gives you great Lp,
Iv'e been playing my piano for hours. struggling enjoying a piece of music I'm writing. 2 break up the stress and irritation I've ate and played rock and pop from my youth. what I'd consider easy elementary chord sequences. Interestingly I've also had some difficulties getting songs like Michael Jackson 'one day in your life' together still great fun and a lesson in humility. So I decided to turn the piano off & listen to The Who a band I listened to most nights whilst pissing about pretending to do my home work. Quadrophenia ws my favourite L/P from 3rd year (15yo) 2 end of school. As soon as I heard the piano at the start of this track I heard the influence of the who in my own writing. Ace! back to the L/P. Note The fantasy's i'd have staring at the cover or listening 2 the songs were so passionate & now seem so ridiculous. As a teen I thought you wait until I'm a man. Never once thought as a man I'd still have to contend with men & their love of power & prejudice. Now that sounds ridiculous 2. DR JIMMY& MR JIM!!!!
This is absolutely incredible! I'm 32 and this song really touches my heart..
I discovered earlier today that if you listen to this with a really good pair of headphones, you get the most amazing experience:the power of this music completely envelopes you. You hear, feel, all of it. The bass shakes you to the very core, the stereo blows you away, the strings power through all, and the true power of this work shines through. A good pair of headphones can make it inescapable, and all the better for it.
one of my top spngs
my heart felt thanks for the above series my friend. ive just finished listening to them all and im now on ebay buying the album. again thanks
My all time favorite Who song. Thanks for putting this one up.
A masterpiece.......the song symbol of a generation aboslutely GREAT !!!! font of inspiration..........
Less than 24 hours, I think, 'til I see them. Not sure I've been this excited for a long time.
not just a song.......but,a novel and soundtrack of life... to the youth who lived through that special time.......1973 !
Truly one of the best rock opera songs ever recorded, written performed by anyone. Long live Pete Townsend, Long live The Who, God bless Keith Moon and John Entwhisle, lonf live Roger Daltry.
This is unquestionably a brilliant masterpiece - probably the best composition Townsend ever created. Also likely the best showcase of Daltry's astonishing range and incredibly powerful voice. Sonically, the instrumental textures, pacing and emotional execution are all simply breathtaking! I've been listening to this since it came out and it still never fails to give me chills.
omg this is the best music ever ;) ty m8 4 posting ... goodness this takes me back 2 easter monday in bangor ... northern ireland lolol what memories ;) those where the days ;) an may day .... scooters .. booze ... and skirt ;) lololol
I remember this well, this is a classic
If I were in one of my old hot rods I'd have to SMOKE THE FUCK outta the tires to this song!
Everyone's essence of being is ageless, eternal and blissful. This song helped you connect with that essence.
As I noted elsewhere (the Pearl Jam cover...meh): this is a great example of Pete's songwriting brilliance. Poetic lyrics, incredible composition, skillful operatic arrangement, and expert guitar playing. Of course, he also had one of rock's greatest drummers, and one of rock's greatest bass players.
My high school lover, who I met at 16 years old...he was 17.....went on to make love to this song so many times.... it's now 50 years later, and last night....well. I still love that man like crazy. Here's to Looooove! Reign O'er Me! Here's to passion, keep loving brothers and sisters.🐦🌷
This song sends a shiver down my spine...thx for posting.
I was 2 when this came out , at 12 everyone loved Wham and Duran Duran so I turned modette. Here I am at 52 listening again and it’s given me the same chills. Amazing song
rock an roll may never die but it some times makes me cranky that my 21 year old son listens to the Doors and thinks that "Spanish Caravans" is brand new. I'm 64 and bought the album in ..what? 1968?
chhheers for the upload Jason, top notch!
totally top tune...thx for posting :)

that sounds so familiar. I remember when one of my kids wanted me to hear this "new music" it was Robert Plant. I'm glad that we like the same stuff.
my fav who song, and my fav love song, only love can make it rain, the way the beach is kissed by the sea
"Only love can bring the rain that falls like tears from on high..."
Lovemaking with words ❤⭐️❤
love it. just watched the film. my all time flick.
Song directly sent from god. Thanks for Posting!
It's still great and OI give Morrison more credit than he deserves just because he was part of my youth
That's great! Put them in a playlist. When I came to your channel I would have liked it as a playlist. Great stuff!
Someone on Experience Project (social network) mentioned this song, I was curious to hear it -- terrific!
The first four chords are the most epic song opening ever. Major, major, major.... minor....
The music - yep - but the comments bring it to life - I'm not on my own
So awesome to go back to real music
Thanks for the reminders each time you send me a memorabilia song or artist I added to my Amazon music.... which I just started as I found out is free when Jackie subscribed to Amazon Prime.... :-)
