- Quadrophenia is the sixth album by the English rock band The Who. Released on 19 October 1973, Quadrophenia is a double album, and the group's second rock opera. Its story involves social, musical, and psychological happenings from an English teenage perspective, set in London and Brighton in 1964 and 1965. The name is a variation on the incorrect popular usage of the medical diagnostic term schizophrenia as multiple personality disorder to reflect the four distinct personalities of Jimmy, the opera's protagonist-each said to represent the personality of one member of The Who. The title also referenced the Quadraphonic sound schemes then being introduced.
Songs Included:
11) 5:15
12) SEA AND SAND
Enjoy the Quad. series. Feel free to comment and rate, and even feedback about my series. Thanks!
Perfect album. EVERY song is brilliant. Best Rock Opera ever, and one of the best albums ever.
10 minutes of some of the best music ever
Best rhythm section in the history of rock. Entwistle and Moon RIP.
Yep and THEN comes Bonham & JPJ man...
Not to disagree but I feel Townsend has to be included in the rhythm section often. It not unusual when Keith and John are going nutty it's Pete that's holding the rhythm together playing chords. Which, I believe is a part of the genius of this group.
ONE of the best..
Too many to mention
I was in VEGAS when John died 🪦 RIP hard rock hotel
This is one of the top two groups that my Grandparents LOVE. I and my fellow grandchildren are proud that they put such great music in our lives and in our heads 4 ever. We love you Grandma and PaPa.
You should listen to early Genesis
trespass and nursery crime would be a damn good start!
fuck genesis!
Pete Townsend, Rabbit, Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon, and the Ox playing at their zenith, PRICELESS!
If I ever met Pete Townshend, I'd have to fight the urge to hug the man. This album just means so much to me.
Old school feel good rock n roll. Best sounding music ever.
sheer brilliance and utter genius on display here man......
Sea & Sand - the single greatest teenage angst song ever written and done?...
Thxs for this .Quadrophenia is one of the all-time greatest albums, not just by the who, but all-time masterpieces ever produced-
Classical music.
this entire album is a complete classic better with each passing moment
Man; that BRASS drives into sheer heaven.
Wow. I just strolled through some Filmore East session recordings and fell onto your work here. You did a great job. Thank you for all the effort. This really does the band justice.
Thank you Jason, for these two great Who songs, but especially thank you for the lyrics because I'am hearing impaired and now I know what brilliant song writers the who really were.
I love the change of directions or pace of this song. Geniuses at work
The lyrics are very deep. Thanks for posting it. So I can fully understand what are they singing. Some are difficult to understand, like what are they saying.
Outstanding Music..
What a great effing band..
35 great years of listening to this album. 7th grad walking the middle school track back in 87
Awesome song, haven't heard this in years. Thank you
I got that LP for Christmas that year, as a high school senior, still have it. It has some of the best songs The Who ever penned and recorded. The Real Me and Cut My Hair are also great cuts, so's Dr. Jimmy & Mr. Jim-their version of Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, IMO.
So glad I got into this album... then I researched Mods and realized that I've always been one. Thank you, The Who, for helping me realize my identity. Me love you long time. :)
masterpiece
Your almost done with them, awesome. I've been wanting to spend time to listen to it start to finish. I really think its one of the most beautiful musical pieces ever written. The way townshend captures what its like to be a teenager, going through depression, the unrequited love of those years, and being dissassociated from society. It is amazing...
Best concept album,so much flow from one song to the next...
THIS ALBUM MEANS A LOT TO ME.
Quadrophinia = Pete's masterpiece
I was in VEGAS when John died RIP hard rock hotel
quad was a way of life in the 70's
Best horn riff ever!
No doubt but Townsend was master of the keys
Last great Who album. Better than Tommy just harded to grasp since it was a British time piece. The Who at their best.
timeless towering triumph by the who, masterpiece ,related perfect to my rebelious youth & still listening it at 54.If your a drummer real fun to play to,& learn from!!! What happened to bands like this today ?
I miss the OX's solo during this in live shows
Yes, absolutely! Long Live Jon.
I had my room set up when I was a teen. I had an early 70's tube driven Kenwood receiver and 4 speakers(2 Klipsch and 2 United Audio). I also had a United Audio turntable. This album was cranked up many a time. And many a time I got my ass chewed for having it too loud....Didn't care though. This was the mid 80's. Course we cranked alot of other albums too. But nothing was better than hearing The Who at max volume....well, till the cops/parents showed...lol!
I have subscribed! I only know of one other person who knows the Who as well as you, and that is my husband. I've spent the last hour listening to your cuts. Your information is spot on! The sound quality is amazing! Thank you for the love you show the greatest Rock band of all time!
something to give me peace tonight - rockin guitar and pounding drums!!!!!!
Thanks for your effort. Hate to admit i was singing some wrong lyrics all these, lol. oh well. thanks again.
If i go one day without listening to anything from quadrophenia i feel i've wasted a day of my life.I bought the box set deluxe 2 months ago but can't bring myself to open it because it would be damaged then oh well i'll have to buy it again and open that one
I'm sorry but this is so much better than anything the Stones ever did it's not even funny !!
I’ve had this album in every format album, cassette, 8 track
JasonBonitati , you are the only one to have any lyrics for 5:15 by The Who. All the others are for some other song by some woman with the same name. For that, I thank you. I can now go and attempt it at karaoke with the confidence of knowing the song fairly well. Not even joking.
+wariodude128 Dude, you better be bringing the hi energy to that performance!
Very well done1 Thank you!
I've always enjoyed this song when commuting.
God Damn this album is great!

Btw- if you like Quadrophenia, I'm almost done with the rest of the songs that were originally on the album. If you're looking for more Who vids, they're in production haha :)
@beardedbrother couldn't put it any better
..sadly estatic that their hereos are "used"?
" Catcher in the Rye " by J.d. Sallinger besides the bloke that did it wasn't he owes Art Therapy and used J.D. Salinger as an excuse for him to tell The Art Therapist who sympathised with the guy that did it
