    super underated, hope this blows up soon

    personally i rate this an 18/15 (you can achieve 18 signal strength by putting 6 unstackables in a hopper and taking a comparator output)
    to get 6 unstackables in a hopper, take 2 curse books and grindstone them together to stack them (learned this via Squibble's video on unconventional redstone)

    • @danielrhouck
      @danielrhouck 2 дні тому

      I think that overstacked unstackackables bug was fixed, unfortunately. You can do it on an old version and I think it upgrades fine, or probably there are other ways to do it I donʼt know about.

    • @TheOmegaOof
      @TheOmegaOof 2 дні тому

      @@danielrhouck im not surprised, redstone dust is capped at 15 power anyways so the only real use is comparator subtraction

    • @danielrhouck
      @danielrhouck 2 дні тому

      @@TheOmegaOof Or compact item sorters with overflow protection but a smaller buffer in the hoppers compared to standard ImpulseSV designs, where the dust signal strength capping at 15 is a necessary part of the design

    You could try ultimate tic tac toe, that is a board made of 9 smaller boards with 9 slots each. When you place a cross in a slot, say the upper left, then the other player has to play his circle in the board that is in the upper left. When you put 3 in a row in a board, that board becomes your symbol (cross or circle) and the player that wins three boards that are in a row wins. I don’t know if I have explained myself, check it online.

    its definitely impressive as-is, but there is a lot of missing logic
    - force taking turns
    - prevent pieces from jumping onto opposing pieces
    - prevent pieces from moving into allied pieces
    - automate capturing (and chain capturing)
    - prevent men from going backwards
    - also each player starts with 3 rows of men, not 2
    and if i may make suggestions:
    - you can use liquids to make displays less tall
    - why not have the 2 halves lean the same direction? that is, if the east half slopes up from west to east, have the west half also slope up from west to east

    • @Frostsuit
      @Frostsuit 2 дні тому

      In my style of checkers, I don't force taking

    • @danielrhouck
      @danielrhouck 2 дні тому

      I thought that too with the missing rules but I think itʼs fair to make players do that themselves; they have to with physical checkers. Computer versions of games donʼt *need* rules enforcement even though I also prefer it. The only real issue there is the missing row of checkers men.

    • @posterboymc
      @posterboymc  2 дні тому

      Oh wow, if you could build redstone checkers do all that, that would certainly be impressive! Having the two halves not face the same direction because I think the redstone would overlap and show. If not then I did not think of that for some reason and made things harder on myself :) What do you mean by I can "use liquids to make the display less tall"?

    I think traditionally you start with *three* rows for each player (12 pieces), not two? But that should be pretty easy to fix, and I think the rest looks great.

    Hi, really like the idea. I want to build this mechanism on the server. Is it possible to build the mechanism in a remote location, and the display for example on the spawn?

    • @posterboymc
      @posterboymc  День тому +1

      The display can be anywhere, however the buttons would need to be relatively close to the game. If you use command blocks then you theoretically make commands that when buttons are pushed then the redstone is activated remotely.

    Is the waterfall circuit slow? Would "wallstone" be faster?

    • @posterboymc
      @posterboymc  День тому

      I actually did a test using 4 different methods in the Connect 4 video which showed that all heights updated at the same time on activation and deactivation which is why I chose to use it. I haven't used wallstone in any builds yet but perhaps I should study it more. Thank you for the question.

    id give you a 5/15. It was very creative but watching you do it the way you did felt horrid. Ive worked with map displays and made map games plenty when i was younger and i dont think you could've made this in a less efficient way unless you tried. Credit where credit is due, using a 1:1 ratio map when you had the ability to was smart. I probably would of gone with a 1:2 ratio like i usually do. Im gonna come back to this and make my own version. Half because i want to show you some more effective ways of utilizing map displays and half because watching your attempt left a bad taste in my mouth 😭
    Jokes aside, keep up the good work. The map display community needs people like you. subscribed
