Mojang broke my favorite contraption...

- In the recent Minecraft 1.21.4 snapshots, Mojang have been making experimental Minecraft redstone changes that break a lot of redstone contraptions. These changes to the Minecraft redstone update system have stopped redstone updates being passed to other components from dust, which does prevent lag but also means you can't use dust as an updater.

"It's not quiet simple, actually"
-Mumbo, for the first time ever, 2024
Yes, it’s actually quite loud instead
Lmao, he even added the "For the first time ever." XD
Quiet means not loud....
What I meant is you spelt “quite” wrong..
It’s actually surprisingly complicated
“For once, things weren’t that simple!”
Probably the scariest thing Mumbo could’ve uploaded on Halloween.
XD so true
i'm still recovering from the mental distress and trauma i experienced when it wasn't quite simple really
How to tell a horror story in one sentence
@@HomeSchooledWizard "I do kinda like having water in my redstone contraptions" (7:25) is a pretty scary sentence too.
and now we can sleep peacefully knowing once again we can hide our crafting benches
hm
Not because we don't want other people to use them, because because crafting benches *don't fit in with the vibe of a lot of builds.* (mumbo said calmly)
Aren't they called crafting _tables_
Thank god 🙏🙏💯
It’s just a neat little gizmo that looks cool
You know we're dealing with dark magic when even Mumbo says "things were not really quite simple"
Lmao
3:34 ”All our useful blocks pop out” *shows fletching table*
Edit: for yall that say its a good villager workstation, well yes but then you wouldnt have any reason to hide it, hiding would only make it way more annoying to get the villager to restock.
You beat me to it lol
Cub is mad now
They’re useful for iron farms, but not much else :/
and cauldron as well 😂

“I am now starting to understand why people have trouble with redstone”
Mumbo 2024
Mumbo finally got brought back to earth and now knows how absurd redstone is as an outsider, lmao. One of us! One of us!
(Wait five minutes and he'll be back to making 24x24 piston doors like nothing happened)
This really seems like an old days classic Mumbo redstone video. Genuinely exploring the different mechanics of a redstone component and showing it off, making it "really quite simple" for the viewers to try themselves. Underrated. I love this kind of video!
Same!
1:40 This really is a halloween special: Mumbo has finally admitted that a redstone component isn't actually quite simple
In this update, we see that Mojang has changed redstone from being confusing, to confusing.
It's impossible to make redstone make sense
- says me. A non redstoner
and so I left this world same as I enterd it, confused.
@@DragonTheOneDZA Drugs.
LOTS of drugs.
Correction: It went from confusing to non-veterans, to confusing to *everyone*.
Rest In Peace you will always be remembered as the super cool simple redstone blockswapper.
Now its even easier!

Goat that made that one 3x3 combination lock for the Pacific vault in season 7 (I think)
We need a collab with u and mumbo lol
@Unbrickable27 oh mate is that all you know him for? Crafty cooks some mental shite
Hey Crafty!
Craftmastermind
You know it's bad when Mumbo says, "It's not actually that simple"
3:33 "All of our useful blocks pop out" Yeah, looking at you FLETCHERS TABLE
And y'all are forgetting the java edition cauldron
@@DragonTheOneDZA It's useful in two specific scenarios: certain redstone things and putting out player fires in the nether. The composter has superseded the first use though because it offers more possible signal strengths
I'm so sorry for your loss, Mumbo....
4:28 He didn't use F5, so it wasn't this good of an idea
So I just opened UA-cam to find a block swapper, this is the first video recommended to me.
UA-cam has cameras in my room.
But I was like "I need the input to be directly on top of the block swapper, otherwise it won't fit into my build"
And Mumbo's like "I want our input to be directly above where our crafting bench pops out"
Mumbo has cameras in my room.
7:24 bro built a hydraulic redstone contraption. Incredible.
7:40 the sign "Work" is above the ONLY BLOCK that doesn't do anything ironically lol.
Ngl I don't understand a single bit of redstone (never taken the time) but I love watching Mumbo make these contraptions and get excited when they work
"And it very briefly ruined my week."
This is the kind of energy we need in the world. Things can be bad without being The Worst Thing Ever ™️

8:41 ah yes, emergency block that has no use
Ahhhh I love a good ol' fashioned Mumbo redstone vid to go with breakfast and tea, _especially_ with such a nostalgic circuit!
1:42 is the most terrifying sentence to be said by Mumbo K Jumbo
3:34 “all of our useful blocks”
**calling the fletching table useful**
Its spooky time, mumbo jumbo.
or should i say: MumBOO jumBOO????
orrrrr Mummy Jumbo.
Im so sorry
I appreciate the effort
1:42 oh that's not good at all

"for the first time ever things were not really quiet simple"
In every story there is a moment where the hero hits rock bottom. Rock, Meet bottom.
the Mumbo Character Development has come full circle:
Mumbo in 2014 "I don't know WHY you would want to hide your crafting benches, but I don't care, the Redstone looks cool"
Mumbo in 2024 "You hide Crafting Benches because it doesn't fit the vibe of the build around it"
AAAGH I want more of these small contraptions! Please more of these videos I'd love to fill up my bases with them all over the place :D
I'm just imagining Wheatley from Portal 2 trying to open a door.
"I can't do it while you're watching, just turn around for a second."

Cries in bedrock edition
“it’s not quite simple, actually” the end is coming 😭😭
4:53 decorating??? Hermitcraft really changed him…
4:05 no, i was actually thinking why you would want acces to a fletching table.
I still expect these to change anytime

Mumbo: "all of our *useful* blocks"
Also Mumbo: has fletching table
The thing that made my week worse is the , fact that your " 1.14 walking house " video was published 5 years ago. Hope it makes your week better Mr. Mumbo Jumbo
I didn't think I'd ever hear the words "emergency fletching table" come out of any minecrafters mouth, but here we are.
2:51 It's taken 12 years, but Mumbo has finally come up with a good justification for hidden crafting benches
Clever thumbnail idea Mumbo, made me read the full video title 10/10
Seeing these new desings operate is incredible - its like looking at a running steam engine with the main piston and all the auxiliary valve openers and closers moving back and forth.
this could be really cool to reset villager trades instead of breaking -> picking up the table -> forgetting to trap the villager well enough -> putting the villager back in the hole -> placing the table
3:34 all of our USEFUL blocks - Fletching Table ._.
just realised: The Poisonous Potato Update
I miss the old outro that you had in your videos with the text that said "That's all folks" and the fun music. Please bring it back!

It is now available for a small xost but he said he won't go back to that style @@flazeflame7372
For the first time in the years I’ve been watching your videos, I think I actually am starting to understand redstone concepts in a way I could apply in game.
Mumbo seeing redstone through our eyes for the first time. Lol. This is exactly why I love Mumbo’s redstone videos, because I feel like I’m actually learning redstone every time.
Hidden fletching tables are for you to put in a cave, so when you are just walking around with your friend, you start acting really panicked, place a redstone torch on the wall, and then there is a fletching table and you calm down. I will be filling ally worlds with hidden fletching tables.
I love that the machine gets fixed in the first two minutes and then you reinvent the machine like 7 times afterwards. I was kind of expecting a negative video here but this is inspiring.
Why on earth would you want a fletching table.
I love this type of video, seeing exploration and iterations! Now I wanna go do some myself - I'd love to make a setup where you walk into a room and everything pops up in sequence dramatically
Mumbo, fletching tables dusnt have a use.
3:35 "all our useful blocks pop out" *has a fletching table
Some of these contraptions would actually work better in Bedrock because we wouldn't get that side-powering effect. I'm going to have to try this out now.
*1:42* DAMN, one of the most earth-shattering things in all of Minecraft history has been said this day. This will forever shake up Technical Minecraft and will have lasting impacts for the generations to come.
I was about to quit playing Minecraft, as all my crafting benches had to be visible now. This video saved me
Fun fact - mumbo has an *official* community discord with weekly events and an active SMP for java and bedrock players - new season starting soon
yes - if you want to join just google it, it'll be the first result probably. smp season starts december 1st
Mumbo: "For the first time ever, things were really not quite that simple"
Me: *Screams*
We need this in wild life next to the "useful" bridges
this feels like a video that started as an idea for a short
Turn our hidden crafting bench on and awoff. Lol 6:27
i draw objection to the spelling of awoff. it should definitely be spelled awff.
These little absurd redstone idea videos are concise, funny, useful, and actually quite simple!
Thanks, Mumbo!
Your redstone vids are so fun to watch!
Mumbo inventing a new redstone torch key design by accident is such a Mumbo thing to do.
Evil Mumbo be like: it's really not simple.
Happy Mumboween!
"Shrinking my already small beloved"
happens to the best of us Mumbo
Truly the redstone progress we've all been waiting for
The yellow wool probably updating the piston due to the redstone changing the state of the yellow wool by being powered
Goes to show that the new redstone changes will in no way inhibit our ability to create redstone contraptions, and perhaps piston/dispenser weirdness isn't as necessary as it is just weird.
3:33 `all our useful blocks pop out of the ground` The fletching table has NO USE
The block update is not coming directly from the redstone dust, the redstone dust is powering the bottom block, and the bottom block updates the piston
Now you have to hide crafting benches in everyone’s bases in Hermitcraft
I'm curious, what dictates what is built in your Redstone testing world, and what is built in a new superflat?
This video was brought to you by a proper mad scientist.
that high tech system really feels like it would totally fit rendogs hermitcraft base
Should have done Skulk Sensors!
Can't wait for moveable tile entities. This is gonna change the game. It's a game changer.
Mumbo kept putting “beloved” so much in his cards that I started to think he made the word up like “chuffly”
not you saying "useful blocks" to a row of workstations including a fletching table. somewhere, cub is shaking his head in disappointment :D
The change here is actually quite simple. Bud powering, was a phenomenon caused by the fact that air is still a block that can be powered. Air block now no longer carries a redstone state, so it can no longer be powered or unpowered.
Could be tied into a game where you're only able to collect and then you throw in materials to unlock crafting table, then unlock another and then use that table to unlock the other
Mumbo you GOTTA start throwing these ‘less than essential’ contraptions into your hermitcraft builds!!
Mumbo was salty that one of his original contraptions was messed up, so he created several superior alternatives that work with the new redstone nonsense. That is honestly a Chad move
I hope this works on bedrock as we can do that with all our things now, chests, furnaces even hoppers
"I want to access just my fletching table. "
It is crazy how far redstone has come! I thought the first design was already the best, and then Mumbo bested all over the place in 8mins of video.
Finally a way to hide my fletching table, which I definitely use all the time
Ah yes, the most useful block in the game!
Finally, Mumbo understands how I feel when trying to do redstone.
The thumbnail going with the notification message is smart AF !
So happy to see you upload redstone vids (non-hermitcraft)
Time to put a bunch of hidden tables on the hermit craft server
I see Grian in front of your workstation on the server having fun pushing the buttons.
You could make a simon says game with this function. For funzies, not for diamonds. Clearly. XD
When Mumbo says that it’s not really quite simple, you know something’s wrong
Now we only need floor-craftingbench-hiders
"What if I want to access my fletching table?" - Mumbo 2024
I think you should cement your criminal arc on the Hermitcraft server by going to everyone's bases and using these designs to hide their crafting benches from them.
I would love to like the redstone update, but since they added randoness, liking it is out of question.
I understand that they wanted to remove the location and rotation problem, but they did not add a solution. They made it worse.
I have a relatively simple solution. (Even though I don't know how hard it would be to code it.)
They need to give each redstone signal (redstone blocks, torches, wires, repeaters, powered blocks, etc) their own rotation value. Similar to how Pumpkins or Observers have a front facing side.
And each time this block gives of a signal the update order starts on the left and rotates clockwise to the right.
Means when a torch stands on the ground, depending on in which direction the player was facing when placing it, it first powers the dust/components to its left, then the front, the right and at last the back. And if a redstone wire get powered, depending from where the signal came from, it updates all 3 directions in a clockwise rotating order. And in case it gets powered from above or below, it depends on which direction value from the input. Like when getting powered through a block by a repeater facing east for example, the dust fist updates the next component to the north (left), then the east (front), south (right) and then the west (back) direction.
It might be a bit confusing when putting it in words, but it is always:
Carry over the input direction value (aka what was the front side from the signal giving block) and update the next components in the circuit in a clockwise rotating order, left front right back.
And when having two directions to process (like for when two pistons want to push/pull the same block position), the entire left side always gets calculated and processed before the entire right side, since those were written into the update list first.
AKA, when having two wires in each direction, it's left-left > left-front > left-right > front-left (which is the same position as left-right) > front-front > front-right > right-left (same as front-right) > right-frint > right-right > (and in case it was not powered from the back) back-left (aka right-right) > back-front > back-right. And that also goes for when a signal gets carried through normal blocks and etc etc.
And to not process a block twice, like front-right and right-left or left-left and back-right, they could implement a simple value for wether or not a block was already processed/updated within this tick.
