    P01 Omega is my carry gun , no mods other than Truglo Tritium pro night sights and som Lok thin matrix grips. I will never go back to a striker fired polymer pistol for edc I’m much more confident carrying a decocked hammer fired pistol and the CZ is super reliable and accurate

    You can also run any of the standard 9mm CZ mags in both as well , so anywhere from 10-17 rds. They'll stick out the bottom but they run. PCR is my choice.

    Some say the split pin that stops the firing pin is a split pin for a reason. Split pin does slowly collapse and eventually break if one dry fires a lot. Split pin is effectively acting as an impact surface and the pin's slow collapse is reducing the firing pin's likelihood of work hardening and eventually breaking. Replacing the split pin with a solid pin puts more stress on the firing pin and thereby increases the likelihood of firing pin breakage.

    Nice video. I own a CZ 75 Compact, all steel (no decocker) with less recoil because of it’s construction, it’s reliable & accurate. You can’t go wrong with a CZ.

      I don't own a steel CZ but I've shot a few. The safety models I've shot have had slightly sharper triggers, and the recoil is so pleasant, even moreso than the P01. I also like that when the hammer is lowered to DA mode, you can't engage the safety. Solid choice!

      I think the chamber loaded indicator is a nice feature in theory, but it's ultimately an unnecessary component that can get gummed up and cause issues. I will say that the narrower muzzle end of the PCR carries nicer if you're using a leather or hybrid holster. There isn't much difference shooting, but I'd give the advantage slightly to the P01. Both are pretty light recoiling, but if you hang a light on the P01 it recoils ridiculously flat.

      My PCR has the fewest upgrades, and the P-01 has a pretty extensive list. If you're going to carry, I'd focus on keeping reliability high and not changing anything that changes too much of how hard or fast the firing pin hits the primer. CGW's website is a good place to check for that info.

      I've seen this in a forum. The heavier spring I mentioned was in response to this issue (I only put it in when I know I'm going to shoot hotter ammo), and you can put a recoil buffer in there as well. Lighter and more-worn recoil springs will lead to more impact to the frame over time. That said, I have about 1500 rounds through the p-01 (bought new) and 700 that I've put through the PCR (bought used) and have not noticed any of this deformation first hand in either gun.

      The hammer naturally rests (decocked) in a half-cocked position. From here, the hammer is prevented from going forward into the firing pin and the gun is in its double-action mode.
      Both my 75D and P01 have firing pin blocks that prevent it from hitting the primer. I consider both drop-safe with a loaded chamber.
      I would not manually lower the hammer to the fully-forward position with a round in the chamber. If you use the decocking lever, you'll never put the hammer there without pulling the trigger.
      I'll try to do a quick video tonight comparing the 75D to a CZ83.

    • @rjg02005
      @rjg02005  11 місяців тому

      Barrels are interchangeable. Slides are slightly different in the sights, PCR has the chamber loaded indicator, and P-01 has longer rails. Slides will function on each lower but won't match up cosmetically.

    If I use a snap cap while dry fire will it save the firing pin?

    • @rjg02005
      @rjg02005  Рік тому

      The roll pin that retains the firing pin is the only component that I've heard can become worn by dry fire. Snap caps should extend its life because they slow the firing pin down before it impacts the retaining pin.

    Can you put a pin on those magazines to comply with 10 rounder states? If so is it easy to do

    • @rjg02005
      @rjg02005  4 роки тому +1

      Mec gar sells 10rd mags that are dimpled versions of their 15rd mags. The cz 10rd mags are different and, IMO, less good than the mec gars. Not an easy mag to put a pin in though.

    • @ClericalConsequences
      @ClericalConsequences 3 роки тому +2

      CZ makes 10 round magazines for these. If you buy one of these guns new in a magazine ban state, they will come with one from the factory. They’re not pinned. They have a plastic block that makes up the bottom inch or so of the mag. They are ugly, but they work fine.

    do the steel guide rods damage your frame ? i have one i want to install

    • @rjg02005
      @rjg02005  2 роки тому +1

      I've seen one report of this happening, but never seen it personally. I have steel rods in both guns. I've put around 2200 through the P01 (bought new) and put at least 500 through the PCR (bought used). No evidence of this issue on either.
      That said, if it happens, it'll start slow, so check every time the gun is apart and take out the steel guide rod if your frame starts to deform.

    Got an unanswered question ive had for some time. Maybe u can help me out. I own a 75D compact marked as such but its not a pcr. It has the full length dust cover. Why is it labeled 75D compact and not P01? Older model? European designation?

    • @rjg02005
      @rjg02005  4 роки тому

      I'm not sure the difference between what you mentioned and the P01, unless yours has a steel frame. CZ is seemingly inconsistent with their markings on these pistols.

      I've never experienced one breaking myself, but it's probably a good idea to change them every few thousand rounds (I have no clue what CZ recommends). It's not hard to replace, but it's a more involved job than replacing springs in something like a Glock.

      The 75 compact D was bought used and in okay condition, so I wasn't too worried about messing up the looks. I brought the P01 to a class back in '16 and it got its first scratch. It was a relief. Now they're both carried and shot as often as I can.
