Good video mate, I also found that having the lure only about 3 inches from the tip so you can load up the rod with a shorter stroke. The 2 main advantages are definitely casting in tight quarters and the accuracy. I also find it more fun and the tackle options and modifications are cool.
@@missiondiscover I think you made a solid choice on that reel for the price. It's really the only option at that price point that makes sense. I have a cheaper reel than that (Seasir cast X) and a more expensive (black knight 2) I'm happy with both.
This definitely is not a new style of fishing! It’s just been tagged with a trendy name! I’ve been using this type of gear for 25years and one such reel the abu 1600 is a very old design! and reels like my Calcutta 50xt from the 90s is definitely a tank compared with modern bfs reels but it’s still capable for the larger lure’s and with some mod’s can fish incredibly light!
@@needmoreboost6369 the classic Abu Garcia 2500c has aftermarket mods for it to cast very light lures. Pity it will cost $1000 or so for the reel and all the parts
I managed to get the new Acura with the short shaft on sale for $50! I’m super excited to get it in and give it a try. This will be my first BFS setup, and with it being winter, I’ll have plenty of time to practice casting in the yard.

It definitely is a cool new genre, and have continued to enjoy it since making this video

If it's anything like this Acura you will love it...an easily accessible price for a great reel that got me hooked on BFS
Great job man.
Thank you
Really informative, great video!
Stumbled across this. Only really fish for bass but good thorough review!
There are some rod options set up for what is known as "bass finesse". Things like ned rigs, dropshots etc as well as mini versions of jigs and cranks
