Just used mine for the first time today. I also have the curado bfs and the acura I feel is lighter and free-er when casting. Durability is to be determined. I've had the curado close to 2 years and functions with the same quality. But for now, I enjoyed this Acura.
@TheConstantAngler , so I used this reel pretty often. Things I like: light, very consistent with the casts, breaking, and drag. Every functions works and all knobs are easy to turn. 1 thing I don't like. I fish very light line, 2-4 lbs max. Anytime I birds nest, it always go in between the spool and frame. I now use the larger spool and use it to fish in saltwater with 8 lb line. I have full ceramic bearing, it is noisy but I like the sound. Overall, it's a good reel because it works. If the tolerance on the spool was better, this would be a great reel.
Mine seems ok with 4lb Fluorocarbon but haven’t tried with braid. It does fish well with heavier lures up to 12gr so far and 10lb 0.6Pe braid. Very smooth. Good brakes
CA, I watched BFS' Fishing Channel's review of the Acura Pro but no mention was made of a of a Pro "2" and the model # was HICC-50 Pro ... not the HICC-8-L (or R) on the box of your reviewed reel. Further, nothing came up at Ali for a Pro 2 model and there's no link to a rPro 2 reel source in your review. Can you enlighten more on the Pro 2? Thanks.
I’m not sure what they were doing here as it appears better than the initial reel but then they released a newer version again. I think they are calling this the pro. As long as it has the short shaft spools it is the latest version. I think they just called the new version the pro and not pro2
Thanks for the video! This is a reel I've had on my radar, especially after watching Peter's video and now yours! For the price I think I will pick one up and use my Amazon gift cards!
I'm always suspicious of double figure ball-bearing counts as it seems to be a way of hiding sloppy engineering. Never understood why it took so long to put drag clickers on multiplier/baitcasting reels. Don't see a need for a clicker on the star drag though.
You are probably correct. Did take a long time to put drag clickers in these reels. Think angler pressure made them. See what your saying about star drag clicker but I do prefer it.
The reel is smoother than both. Amazingly smooth. They have just brought out the pro version which is even better. It’s way better than a Zephyr but the brakes aren’t as good as the Arise Air. This is easily solved by adding a couple N52 magnets 4mm x 0.5mm. Get them cheap and just place on top of the one’s there. The Zephyr is probably the most solid of all the reels but struggles with lures below 3gr. The Acura (this model) will do down to 2gr and supposedly the new version will do below 1gr but the Arise will easily do 1gr as is with the correct rod. Hope that helps
@@TheConstantAngler Very helpful, I appreciate it. Is the Pro version the one on Amazon for $66 with 2 spools? How do I know if it's pro? The pro's brakes don't need more magnets?

Cool Adrain
Cheers buddy.

DAIWA J Braid
Great video man! What's your experience been with this reel? Better than Kastking Zephyr? Close to the Arise Air?
Many thanks!

@@slabslapper8507 not sure whether it will need more brakes. If you look at the spool it will have equal length spindles either side of it.
@@TheConstantAngler got it, awesome, thanks!
@slabslapper8507 my pleasure
