This album saved my life. I was the most depressed I've ever been at university, and hadn't left my bedroom in over a week. One day the sun was shining (rare for northern England lol) and I stumbled across this album. I was a new hip-hop fan and never heard of J. Cole. I decided to throw it on and in a moment of strength found it in me to leave the house and walk around in the sun while it played. I listened to it 3 times back to back. It gave me a sense of strength and energy that I hadn't found in a long time and it kicked me out of my slump and down the path to a better place. I really wouldn't be here without 2014 forest hills drive, it holds a special place in my heart
Admittedly I like to ignore this album bc it's been over played & over referenced since it came out....but whenever I end up listening to it again without it being background music, I remember how wonderful it is & why people love to talk about it. I'm happy to hear what a positive impact it had on you. That just goes to show the power of music, especially at the right place & right time!

Love Yourz is easily one of the best songs of all time. Perfectly putting into words how people you think have everything really have nothing. I've played this song over 500 times on spotify
03' adolescence is such a beautifully raw and uncompromising song to me. There's a whole off kilter kinda feel to the beat and his flow, where everything kinda feels like its falling down around you and drags a little bit which gives it a somber nostalgic vibe. Truly one of his best and realest tracks in my opinion, my favorite alongside Love Yourz on this album!
This album is an underrated masterpiece. It’s so dope how he we can see Cole from being an adolescent, to being hungry for money, to making it, to realizing they’re bigger things. Such an amazing listen and lesson.
Bro, if you dissect every album like this I gotta sub. As a lover of music I love and respect seeing other people truly listen to artist and try to understand what they're trying to convey.

I genuinely think this is the best hip hop album of all time, it’s such a complete project. I’m not saying it’s my favourite album but I think it’s the strongest from start to finish quality wise I’ve ever heard
This album helped me get through the pain of my family falling apart. I was in high school and I couldn’t talk to anyone about my family falling apart so I relied on music to free my mind. Every time I listen to this album it takes me back but in a good way now. It literally helped me from going mentally insane

It certainly keeps in line with the reflective theme of the album, and despite the fact it's probably about a previous lover, I think a lot of it can also be applied to long lost friends that took a different path in life.

I think this is quietly one of the best hip hop albums ever. I remember this dropped right before 2015. I feel like To Pimp a Butterfly and If Your Reading This got all the attention. But I feel like this was better then both.
Fun Fact: According to a recent tweet from Ibrahim Hamad (J. Cole's manager/co-founder of Dreamville), "2014 Forest Hills Drive" almost had 1 feature. Ibrahim said that J. Cole reached out to the legendary Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) to sing the hook on "'03 Adolescence". Mos couldn't come thru by their deadline, so Cole ended up singing the hook himself.
Love Yourz always makes me take a step back because I struggle in life right now, and while I would never say someone’s life is be ignorant enough to say someone’s life is better than mine, a struggle is a struggle. Self-love comes from confidence and success. I hope that day comes soon.
