I was a projectionist and showed this movie brand new in theatre’s back in the 70’s …I must have showed it 150 times and laughed at something new every time ..what happened to our sense of humor since then…
I'm same. It seems I understand comedy better than real life. It's my favourite comedy ever. "Dang that was lucky.....etc etc" 🏴👍😂😂
Wanna fight about it?! Just jokin! 🤣

Moral panic, the right didn't bbn wantbus bbn laughing at sex jokes, that passed and now the left doesn't want us laughing at the nbword or that word that also means bundle O sticks
@@MySammykins The left doesn't want us laughing at ANYTHING. I guess that explains all of the famines the left has caused. Because during a famine people don't even want to smile.
My son, n his 40’s and I, n my 60’s, STILL to this day talk n one-liners from Blazing Saddles, when we r joking around! Best movie!
"What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is going on here?" LOVE this line!! 🤣
'Mongo is just pawn in game of life' This is simply the best line in the film.
As a chess master, I'm agreeing -- except for "Let.'s play chess." 😁
Mongo Like Candy!
Line written by Richard Pryor
"Mongo only pawn, in game of life"
Seen this film when I was a teenager 1974 best comedy film I've ever seen I'm now nearly 65 and I still piss my sides everytime I watch it truly a comedy classic well done mel brings back great memories of my youth
THE GENIUS OF THIS MOVIE STANDS THE TESTS OF TIME
U won’t get comedy like this ever again , I’m just glad I grew up watching the best comedy films
Blazing Saddles is the most hilarious comedy ever made. Perfect cast selection. Gold standard. Mel Brooks...thank you sir.
I remember back then a lot of people thought the movie was offensive
Airplane, History of the World, Spaceballs ALL funnier than Blazing Saddles
I agree no body could do what Mel did
WOW wow big statement there son, what about Python.
It's a close call..
And couldn’t be made today.
I laughed when I was a kid I still laugh at this at 45 years old.
Thank you Blazing Saddles!
Madeleine Kahn was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of Lilly in this classic!! It's twu, it's twu!! 😍
Sche schoult haf wun dalink.
Twully.
An amazing lady and talent.
George Harrison sings " Its twu, its twu" in his song "Crackerbox Palace"...no doubt influenced by Madeline Kahn
"You're sucking on my arm". Line cut from that scene. 😅
She sings: "Coming and going and going and coming"!
Is that a ten gallon hat ?
Rip Slim
Rip Clevon
Rip Madeline
Rip Harvey
RIP Gene thanks for the laughs
Too sad.
It was not just laughs. It was part of the American culture, and in many ways helped as it pointed out the absurdity of some of the racism that was and is still present if not worse
All the greats are missed
So sad most of the cast are no longer with us R.I.P guys
To me: This movie; even today, is one of the most iconic pieces of a time. Thank You Mel Brooks. Just Thank You! To you Mr Brooks should you ever see this post please contact me
I remember seeing Blazing Saddles at the Drive In in '74 and can still recall hearing laughter coming from nearby cars as if we were sitting next to each other at a Comedy show; haven't experienced that kind of shared joy since, but how can you go wrong when Richard Pryor is one of the writers.
It's no exaggeration at all to state "Blazing Saddles" is one of the greatest comedies ever. There's major talent in the film and they made it work. It's a brilliant film. And absolutely hilarious.
Oh, I don’t know about that. Maybe not in your opinion but Slim Pickens, Gene Wilder, McCormick and Kahn we’re all VERY well known AND liked at this time. I particularly liked Madeleine in fact. Lol. I was a growing boy! Lol. They were certainly the reason I couldn’t wait to see Blazing Saddles as a preteen. I knew it was going to be good. This was also at a time that Wilder and Pryor we’re enjoying so much box office success for their comedies together so Wilder was no small deal. Even Brooks was well known to me at my young age for good comedic movies. No disrespect intended. They might have not expected the movie to be quite as successful as it ended up being but to say there was no major talent in the movie is simply wrong by any metric.
@@dionst.michael5818 he didn't say that there was no major talent in the film.
@@luvtahandload7692 Umm yeah, I completely read that wrong. You’re absolutely right. I was wrong. My bad. I musta been high when I typed that. I’m glad I wasn’t a jerk about it. Thanks for pointing my error out though. At least it gives me a chance to apologize for the over sight. So, thank you. Take care friend.

EVERY Mel Brooks film has to be watched MORE THAN ONCE because there were a plethora of sight gags and throwaway lines in the script that sailed right by the viewers..watching 3 or 4 times..you laugh in unexpected parts of the movie...THE GENIUS OF MEL BROOKS...
Yep; you can watch it dozens of times and still laugh.
Yes Absolutely. You can still catch things to do his day.
"LePetomane Thruway! What'll that asshole think of next?" That's a throwaway line all to itself! Lepetomane of course was the worlds first performing Flatulist (fartiste), performing for kings and princes before retiring from showbiz before WW1. Look him up.
Yes sir, same with Airplane and the Naked Gun series.

I will never forget queuing in Glasgow Scotland to see this movie, it got a standing ovation at the end. First time I witnessed this at the movies. This movie had a major impact on the culture , just about everyone used a line from the movie in everyday language.
Rest in peace Mr. Harvey Korman. True comedic genius. Nothing he ever did ever gets old. A true thespian and deadpan comedian, a great loss to the world of comedy.
Two twu comments.
@Heartstung good morning. And most-definitely! Sorry for the late reply.

No - one , ever . in the existence of mankind . Will never be able to make such an ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS comedy film like , BLAZING SADDLES . Iconic in every way . Every scene in that film was total genius , . By the best cast ever to be hired and scripted . Even the extras were hilarious . Mel brooks , genius comedy.perfection .
Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein two great movies of that era
When I saw this movie in a theatre for the first time, the campfire scene had me crying with laughter. I almost fell out of my seat onto the aisle.
I was watching Hollywood Graveyard and came across Harvey Korman. What a great comedian. I'm 51 and grew up watching him and Tim Conway, Carol Burnette and the whole genre was so great.
Love that channel!
A masterpiece. All the best to everyone. Enjoy humor. We are family.
I Saw This, Along With Young Frankenstein, As A Double Bill Back In 1974, As A 12 Year Old, With My Childhood Friend Andrew, And We Laughed All The Way Through Both Fantastic Mel Brooks Films . . . :-)
I Have Both On DVD, And Watch Them At Least 1 Time Every Year . . .
Thank You Mel Brooks, For Making My Childhood In The 1970's A Fun 1 . . . :-)
What impresses me most is the absolute perfection of everybody's timing. It's as if all the scenes were vaudeville routines that the actors had been performing on the road for months before they shot the movie.
2019, still arguably the greatest comedy of all time.
I'm right you're wrong still laugh every time I watch it. Will always be the best.
Sorry, try watching Brian again. It's shite
Airplane, Naked Gun and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
@@blackdog2994 A-r-g-u-a-b-l-y, it's a word funny.
"I'm living in the house that farts built" has got to be one of the funniest interview lines ever.
I used to do a fart on the mic in a top Las Vegas show, I keep telling my wife that we live in a house that farts built, she’s not buying it LOL!
I remember going to see this in the early 1970's....Everybody was shocked into silence. Two weeks later, they were rolling in the isles. A movie like this couldn't be made today...Now, it's a classic.
Am I the only one who is sick of hearing this? It's bollocks BTW.
I went with my best friend to see this. I started laughing from the beginning and literally couldn't stop. I was crying, I laughed so hard. She enjoyed it but was absolutely embarrassed by my laughter. I had never seen anything SO outrageous and I loved every minute!!
This was my first R rated movie and I was 8. The theater was packed and it was rockin the whole time. The biggest laughs came with the fart scene. The place literally rumbled with everyone laughing. Interestingly, the scene that follows is a bright, sunny desert scene and hanging over the whole audience was a thick cloud of cigarette smoke...
I used to work with a guy who basically described it the same way. He was the manager of the theater and he said inside the first 20 minutes you were either laughing your head off or you were back at the ticket window demanding a refund. There was nothing in between.
*aisles*
Mel Brooks and all the stars from that film are all HERO'S !!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
In 1972 had a former girlfriend call me to say we had to see a move together. She sad the movie was me. I laughed so hard at Blazing Saddles i could hardly breath. Went back to see it the next night, alone. If I ever see her again, i will thank her for introducing be to this classic.
It was released in 1974
It is truly no exaggeration to call it one of the funniest movies ever made. It was such when it first opened, and it remains so to this day. - CEJ

Yeah but "Spaceballs" evened it out; not all satires are created equal.

True But in Todays Climate the theatre would get burned down that shows it
I thought YOUNG FRONKENSTEIN was funnier 🤣🤣😁
Harvey was a gift from the comedy gods.
I love "Blazing Saddles". I don't understand the people who don't think this film is funny...when it's got to be one of America's funniest movies of all times!!!!!!
Because people are easily offended by words images thoughts and ideas. They
Cant understand the context in which this was made. The "N" word, KKK and so much more in this film isn't really grasped when you consider the times that this movie represents. Instead of harping on it just think of how far we've come since the time of this movies depictions
Up yours....
@@thephantomeagle2 Have we really? With all the stupid acrimony between the sexes and races? You call this mess "progress?"
@@ManuelGarcia-ww7gjYes. I'll grant you we have major issues, especially with 45 in office, but we are far far better off than we were then. The "N" word was used just as much as black, African American, and such. In fact, I remember when I was in college in a sociology class, I remember distinctly a professor said that the "N" word, as bad at it was, was used as a term of endearance.
We've got a ways to go but I'd far far rather live in today's world, as politically toxic as it may be, over the days that Blazing Saddles was set.
@@randallbanks1589 I do not agree. There is no race completely free of racism. Nature has saddled us with different sexes and there are enough differences between men and women that we are very nearly made up of two entirely different species. What needs to happen is that our natures be faced with COMPLETE honesty and that is not happening. Gone are the days when one could casually say the word "wop" when addressing anything Italian. I can remember the day when people of Polish extraction were referred to affectionately as "Pole-acks;." People of Bohemian extraction were called "bohunks." We as a people have become entirely too sensitive to honesty and honest language.
Two finest films ever made, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Nothing better on Earth.
Absotively!!

I like all of Mel's movies, but I think "History of the World Part 1" is my favorite.

Harvey Korman was brilliant, and utterly unique.
I can't imagine how any cast member made it through a entire movie with Brooks and Korman without being hospitalised with busted gut due to laughter.
A masterpiece. Like young Frankenstein and even the forgotten high anxiety. Love you Mel and your gang.
Don't forget Spaceballs!
Brooks got gene wilder to do this film by green lighting young Frankenstein, talk about two classic comedies!
Just a timeless classic comedy movie that I have watched probably 30 times and still love it!
You should see his better half in "The Graduate."
Harvey Korman was the best!!!! One of my all time favorite!!!
As Gene said 'A Classic'. Watching this had me in tears, with laughter and also the sad loss of so much wonderful talent.
Harvey was always so great in anything he ever did. Miss his talent!
Outside of Carol he was the best reason to watch the Carol Burnet show...
Mel Brooks had the amazing sensibility to know what controversial cultural issues he could play with, without going too far over the line. Despite how some jokes would be slammed as "racist" today, they're still funny because of the context. Mel knew how to walk that fine line.
Absolutely true! I think everyone needs to know that you CAN laugh at yourself no matter what race no matter what creed.
The jokes ARE rascist... that's the POINT. Mel Brooks was pointing out how ridiculous rascism really is. IMHO of course.
Aside from sucking the sheriff's arm haha
a movie ahead of its time. great humor.
The funniest movie of all time-nothing else is close-I saw it at the Patterson Theater in Baltimore on Eastern Avenue. laughed so hard i cried. My sides hurt by the end of the movie. Harvey Korman was terrific and so was Slim Pickens. It is the gold standard of comedy movies.
One of the best movies ever made I have never laughed so hard in my life
Why can’t they make movies like that anymore?....
NO TALENT !
This is by far the best comedy in the history of film!! I've loved this one since it first came out. When scrolling thru the tv channels and I come across it, I have to watch it, again. Even tho I've seen it probably a 100 times. Thanks for the laughs and the memories, Mel.
There will never be another Blazing Saddles . The combination of incredible writing , insanely funny directing and the outstanding performances of the cast can never be matched . Besides that too many people would be offended lol

Harvey Korman was perfect in that part. This was a GREAT movie and as it has been said could Not be made today. Every single actor in it was hilarious.

The greatest character of all SLIM PICKENS !!
And he showed us how to ride a nuke!😊😊

One of my friends had cable TV back when this came out in the 70's and 'Blazing Saddles' played repeatedly all day on a Movie Channel. I have the original 'Blazing Saddles' on DVD. I love watching it over and over many times.
Absolutely the BEST! Where ever Madilyn & Gene are, I hope my house is in their neighborhood, when it's time for me to move.
The funniest movie I've ever seen. In this day and age the possibility of this project getting green lighted is 0 in to infinity. And today more than ever we really need too to laugh.
harvey is so good at everything he does
With all the “talent” today this cast couldn’t be touched, great cast it’s too bad so many are gone!
I really don't know why something like this can't be made in 2019..It just takes guts.
Well, there's the lack of talent for starters...
RIP Harvey. I thought the scene with the cabinet, paddle ball toys, etc was perfect! You didn’t do too much, you got it perfectly right!
Harvey Korman, Madaline Kahn and Cleavon Little. All fantastic actors who are now gone. At least we can relive them in their films. 😂
Harvey Korman was pretty humble. An Awesome comedian. Loved all of his stuff.
john sherrill “that voodoo that you do” One of his great lines....
When Blazing Saddles hit our local theater, my friends and I were in line to see the first showing. The theater was full, but most were not prepared for what ensued. We were well familiar with Mel Brooks movies and were falling over laughing when the theater was stony silent. The farting scene was the first place where anyone besides us laughed.
People got up and left, particularly one couple who had three small children... what were they thinking? Its a Mel Brooks movie!
We saw it again in a few weeks (no vcrs or dvds) and word must have gotten out because the whole place fell apart laughing. Best comedy I have seen..except perhaps for Young Frankenstein...
i EXPERIENCED A INCIDENT LIKE THAT, WATCHING A SCENE FROM ''OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR'' , WHERE TWO DRUNKS WERE SINGING A BAWDY SONG, AND A LINE WENT--''I DON'T WANT ME BOLLOCKS SHOT AWAY''. IT WAS MET WITH STONEY SILENCE, AND JUST ME, HOWLING MY HEAD OFF IN THE CINEMA.

Saw Blazing Saddles in '74 in the theatre as double feature with The 12 Chairs (which ran 1st). Chairs had us all rolling on the floor ... then came THE funniest movie I have ever seen. Saddles is completely outrageously brilliant! I own a copy on DVD so whenever I need a laugh, I just break it out. Of course, I've seen it probably 100 times and know the script by heart ... still completely cracks me up. Thank you, Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, Harvey Corman, Cleavon Little and the incredable Madeline Kahn for this great film!
khan was just awesome. "i'm tired, tired of playing the game..."
Always love watching this movie. Thanks Mel Brooks
The scene Brooks plays the chief of the Indians pursuing the black family's wagon. After they are stopped he looks at them in wonder and says, "Shvartsas! Woof! They darker then us!" Then as an acknowledgement of one minority to another he lets them go. Some great comic lines in thatmovie.
After meeting Madeline Kahn on the set of "Fridays" a late night TV Show in early 80s, I realize how Ingenious she was! My friend Actor Darrow Igus had auditioned for a part in Blazing Saddles.. though it's been awhile since Ive seen the movie, Ive recently (out of the blue) found myself adopting the immortal words of Madeline Kahn in my own vocabulary.. Hurt like hell and was bleeding bad but was still laughing. That was my third time watching it.
I BEGGED my mom to take me to see this movie at night because that's when all the grown ups would be there. She finally gave in and we went. She didn't care for it, but my eight year-old self had a ball! Some jokes went over my head. It didn't matter because the ones I did get were hilarious! A Yiddish speaking Indian?
