Every kid even in the 1970s watched classic 1930s and '40s Frankenstein movies on TV. Brooks used some of the set pieces from the original, and the story line, acting, music, and black and white film is still a little scary to watch, especially for a kid. This was perfect.
So many of the actors passed away fairly young but Mel keeps going strong. RIP Marty, Kenneth, Peter, Madeline, Cloris, and Gene. NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN
Craziest thing about YF is that it was made in the same year as Blazing Saddles--two of the greatest movies of all time, made by the same guy in the same year!
Yup. I was SOOOOO "offended" by these movies that I couldn't stop laughing til the next day! Our society has become so easily "butt-hurt" that it would be impossible to make them today. DAMN!! I JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR THE WOKE DISNEY REMAKES!!! !@@MrSpeed-lt8gr
We lost him for too early, he was only age 48--what a shame. So many good roles he would have made if he had lived, but when you smoke 5 packs a day, you can't not expect it to catch up with you sooner or later
When we got home from the grocery shopping recently, my wife asked for help with the bags. I said,”Sure, you take the blonde, and I’ll take the one in the toiban”. My wife responded with a funny look and didn’t say a word. She knew.
I miss ALL of those actors. They made me laugh and helped put kindness at the heart of my soul. It is wonderful to sit back in this old rotting world with all its problems and laugh it away for an hour and a half or so. They made us happy
I have a soft spot for this movie. My Father died when I was very young. He loved “Get Smart”, and we would watch it together, and Mom took me to see Young Frankenstein when it first came out… it was the first time I really laughed after he died, a solid two years later. Thank you Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder & Cast ❤️.
I was 7 when I saw this w/my Dad on a Saturday matinee - the line was a block long - they had cartoons & a 3 Stooges short (The Civil War one) - and we laughed out loud beginning to end - the entire audience was having a blast. One of the best cinematic experiences I ever had and one of the best films ever. Period.
I adore this movie, even my kids- who were born in the late nineties - can quote it. What a cast and what a director, we’ve lost Gene, Cloris, Madeline, Kenneth, Marty, Peter and a few others now, but thanks to this movie they will never be forgotten…
"I'm gonna blow this N..." BEST LINE EVER, in a movie! Blazing Saddles, I can recite from memory. Even the bits CBS added in the '80's. Young Frankenstein, rates a VERY CLOSE second! 1 and 1A. steve
I was a band geek, I graduated from high school in 2003. We were on a band trip to national competition. So your in a place with 1500 strangers, all the same age. All pretty nerdy, but you could become friends with any group of strangers by randomly quoting young Frankenstein, blazing saddles, or Monte Python.
My favourite scene is between the monster and the blind hermit. Both Peter Boyle and Gene Hackman play off one another so perfectly. Sometimes it is the most "serious" actors who can be the funniest .
My favorite movie EVER... I watch it once a year on average. This cathartic masterpiece resets my sense of humor and allows me to get through life in this topsy-turvy world.
I will forever love this movie. Not only did it entertain me as a child, it brought me and my family together. We would quote it all the time and I still put it on to this day. Rest in peace Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Madelin Kahn, Cloris Leachman, and Peter Boyle. Brings me great sadness to know they're gone, but I'll never forget them.
I saw this in the theater in 74 at 13 with my sister and parents. The last movie we saw as a family. I loved it and laughed more every time I watched it. My parent are gone now but I remember them when I watch this wonderful film. Thank you so much Mel.
Mel Brooks & Gene Wilder, a perfect team of two geniuses that created a "monster" of a comedy movie that will stand for generations to come. Everything about it is remarkable. Probably the most perfect funny movie ever made and my favorite one for sure.
That movie's a classic! Still just as funny today as it was nearly half a century ago. And not only excellent comedy, but even just as a piece of filmmaking, it's superb. Cinematography, production-design, pacing, film-economy, self-discipline, it has many valuable lessons from which today's filmmakers could definitely learn. There literally isn't a wasted frame anywhere in the entire movie.
I shared this movie with my then 10 yr old for the first time and he's 28 now and it's still his favorite movie and mine as well and we make it a point to watch it together from time to time and both throw out quotes from the movie all the time. Pure Comedic Genius!
I was 13 years old and my parents forbid me to see this movie! haha So I went to the theatre while staying overnight at a friends house. Looking back - that made the movie even better. I've watched it countless times since. One of the funniest of all time.
Ikr? And imagine his love life. He married one of thr greatest actresses of her time, Anne Bankcroft! Her performance in the Miracle Worker was absolutely amazing & she won an Oscar for it! That & she was Mrs Robinson ! 😂
I was a small child when this came out. Like 5 or so and I saw it in the theater. Most of it went right over my head at the time, but I have seen it at least 50 times over the years and it never gets old. It is a masterpiece.
My daughter who is in now in her early 30’s, and I were in a grocery store when she was about 9 or so talking in the language of “Young Frankenstein .” Virtually everything we said to each other made perfect sense! We still laugh about that day together! Greatest comedy I ever saw! I’m a movie buff … love excellent movies. The first movie that I remember watching was “The Little Tramp” when I was about 3 years old (of course it was a rerun in the late 50’s or early 60’s in a theatre.) So sad. I remember Daddy being so upset at the movie for making me cry! And then watching “The Wizard of Oz” at home on our very own black and white TV he wanted to turn off the movie for frightening me! I’ve always loved good movies! Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder are tops with me! So many great movies! The old ones are the best to me!
The Wizard of Oz scared me too as a kid. Her family closes the trap door and can't hear Dorothy banging on it trying to get in out of the hurricane! Dorothy's dog is taken from her by that awful old lady and her family can't stop it. The colors are too loud and the music is frantic. And those monkey-bats are over the top! I could finally sit through it as an adult. My first movie was Bambi, which was showing in the theatres. My dad took me and we sat through it twice. Later, Bambi was shown in the theatres again when my son (now 43) was 5, and we sat through it twice too. Movies have been important in my life, and I thank my father for introducing me to them and sitting through Bambi twice with me. He had been a prisoner of war in WWII, and we saw Bridge on the River Kwai together too. What I love about this comedy version of Frankenstein is how true they remain to the original aspects of the story and characters.
@michaelblumfield3933 That's the line that came into my head! LOL Madeline wearing a plaid outfit with a matching plaid car! Hilarious. And the fruit cup scene! Having Harvey Korman made Mel's movies even better. Count duh Money! Count duh Money!
I still say lines from this fabulous movie. One of my favorites is “WAIT! I was going to make espresso!!” - whether it fits in the conversation or not. Most people get it & laugh. Those who don’t are missing out.
Gene Hackman's cameo was a stroke of genius. Personally, I often come out with the line "You know, I never forget my old dad...when these things would happen to him... the things he'd say to me".
It wasn't her first role. She'd been acting for about 10 years already, doing small guest roles and bit parts. It was, however, the role that made her well known.
She was adored in the Star Trek episode Assignment: Earth, considered to be one of the best episodes. i think she had a lot to do with that high ranking.
I remember my mom laughing so hard at the scene where the monster mounts Madeline Kahn and she starts singing at the top of her lungs, "Mystery of life at last I found you", my mom couldn't stop laughing. 😄
sorry to say your comment is grossly outdated as that scene is rape being portrayed and this film has been canceled because of it. I can link the article
Easily the funniest movie comedy of all time! Like so many others, I can recite every word! I attended a charade party once that quickly turned into a Young Frankenstein reenactment hilarity! Each person was assigned a character and we did the scenes over and over, literally peeing ourselves with laughter! 😂 Thank you Mel Brooks! Ps: We did the same with Space Balls AND Blazing Saddles!
I fondly remember Gene Wilder comforting Cleavon Little by explaining how many people learned to become racists because they were "simple people; you know - morons!"
My daughter was two when she watched this with me. She was absolutely mesmerized with it but she was afraid of the monster. I told her that his name was Peter Boyle and when the movie was done, Peter and the other actors would go get french fries and tell jokes. Worked brilliantly. I did the same for Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard of Oz. My daughter is 23 and still refers to Peter Boyle by his name.
My Dad absolutely LOVED Margaret Hamilton "and her little dog too," and could make me laugh every time he said that ;) But then he took me to see "Old Yeller," where I couldn't stop crying, especially since he looked just like our dog at the time.
Any movie collection without "Young Frankenstein" isn't complete. An absolute must! My top list goes something like this: "Some Like iI Hot", "Sunset Boulevard" and "Young Frankenstein". All treasures of cinematic genius. Thank you Mel Brooks. You complete me! PS: Black & White Rules!
It is such a pleasure to discover my wife and I and our two kids are not alone knowing every line and injecting these lines into our experiences together choreographing our lives for over fifty years! So much JOY!
...from a time when Mel Brooks and those of his era created stories to be funny; that's obviously a far different time than anything recent. Comic book portrayals just don't have the depth in their casts or their stories to last. The films of Mel Brooks would draw a theater full of people as soon as the ads went up. I don't remember them all but then again I don't remember any that I didn't enjoy. The man was definitely a unique talent!
Between Young Frankenstein and Princess Bride, my kids and I have endless "appropriate" quotes for whatever we do. But, 'walk THIS way' is pretty much on top. Inconceivable! I love this film.
My best memory of this film is that I saw it in the picture theater with my dad when I was 8 years old. For some reason it is the only movie I actually remember going to the movies with him, even though I know there were others. I’m 55 now, my dad long gone, and for some reason I remember that outing very well.
My friend and I saw this in a theater in SF when it was first released to theaters, and the full crowd was laughing throughout the entire movie. All of the audience left together in a good mood!
Reminds me of when my Dad and Mom took my brother and I to see Jaws at the theatre and Herbie the love bug at the drive-in I’d love to go back and do that again.
Awesome!!! We're about the same age...my dad was trying to take us to see Star Wars...hahahaha. He was shocked by the line....we went across town and saw Young Frankenstein instead. I'm so glad!!! I was a terrible chicken as a kid. Everything scared me - so this helped to curb my fear of monsters a little. I went in afraid to look at the film and left laughing.
This is one of the top three movies I quote on a daily basis. Friends that see this movie suddenly go “wait a minute, is that why you said lightning was just an atmospheric discharge, nothing to worry about?!”
I watched Bride of Frankenstein on TMC Halloween night - all I could think of was how brilliant YF truly is. The screenplay, sets, casting, acting, music - it's all spot on.
The song Madelyn Kahn sang and the way she did it was hilarious, " I'm so tired",. I watched an old I think it was Marlene Dietrich and it was a war time drama and not supposed to be funny but I burst out laughing because Madelyn Kahn sounded just like Marlene Dietrich and Marlene was being serious she too was a cabaret singer/ prostitute. Madelyn Kahn was spot on and nobody realizes this because no one has ever seen or heard Marlene Dietrich sing. I just happened to catch a really old movie on some obscure channel. So now when I see that scene I laugh even harder.
My father was a comedian by trade, he rented this for me when i was about 11yrs old. he said "this is comedy", he questioned me at the end to make sure i hadn't missed any of the "in" jokes" can't thank him enough for that. its quotes been part of my vocab ever since :)
I adore this movie. Every time I watch it I laugh at something new and all over again. This is one of those movies, that are so Iconic that, yes you can recite the dialogue verbatim. 🎥🎥🎥📸📸
A masterpiece! We have a tradition in our family to watch it at New Year's Eve. And although we know the lines by heart, we still enjoy it like the first time!
Every time I watch this excellent documentary I have to watch the Young Frankenstein film again. I've lost track of how many times I've watched this wonderful motion picture. I absolutely love it! 🤗
This movie is like coming home. It welcomes you in, treats you warmly while you're there, and sends you off with a good feeling. Truly a classic American film.
She was terrific in Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and an appearance on Saturday Night Live. I understand her life eventually took a hard turn downward, but I've always found it hard to believe that she didn't become an absolute comedy icon whose name would be forever on people's lips. She REALLY was good! She had enough talent to work forever.
@@dingfeldersmurfalot4560 She had family demons to fight, i.e. her mother. Her mother never was in her corner because SHE thought she was the star of the family. She was also brilliant when she was a guest star on "The Carol Burnett Show." She played in a "Family" Skit as Mavis, the star of "Cat Women on Mars." It was a scream!
She was magical beyond description. It takes great talent to sing out of pitch the way she did as Lily Von Shtupp (My favorite character in Blazing Saddles). Everything she did, she just made it memorable. And, for me, it wasn't just the big things she did, even though they were so good. It was the little things she did that made scenes so much funnier than if she didn't do them. Fuck cancer. That's all I have to say about that.
I saw it for my birthday when I was little, and it remains one of my favorite films; and as I grew older and understood the genre of horror better, I loved it even more. It's a joy from start to finish, in every way.
John Morris’s score was the perfect icing on this perfect cake of a film, as responsible as any other element for the success and longevity of Young Frankenstein. So deeply luxurious and evocative, it brought everything together and paired perfectly with the gorgeous B&W cinematography. That opening shot of the castle with the theme behind it is truly beautiful. Morris was the best film composer for comedies, I think, he played it straight but with a light touch. One of the all-time greats.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN - BEST MOVIE EVER!!! I've seen it a million times but never tire of it. "A little spongecake, a little wein..." Every line is precious!!!
This movie...this cast...this script...this screenplay...this lighting...this production...this musical score...this acting...? RIP Peter Boyle, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, and Gene Wilder...you are all in my memories as being part of one of the greatest comedies in the history of cinema. And to you Mel Brooks, at 96 years young? May you live long and enjoy your accomplishments! Halloween is coming soon and I'll be ready for my tradition of watching the original 'Frankenstein', 'The Bride of Frankenstein', 'The Son of Frankenstein, and finally 'Young Frankenstein' in the coming days ahead.
We had to sit through this movie twice. Missed half the movie the first time because we were laughing so hard. It could be worse... Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were released less than a year apart. 1974 was a year of comedy greatness...
You take the blonde and I’ll take the one in the turban…OMG!!! I love ALL of Mel Brooks’ movies! ALL of them are hysterical!! I watch them all the time. And the way he loved his wife? Doesn’t get better… I wish I was related to him! Uncle Mel…🎵… has a great ring to it… Uncle Mel… sigh… I love him!!! Taffeta! Taffeta darling… No, my dress, it’s Taffeta… OMG😂😂😂😂😂😂‼️
My favorite Mel Brooks movie. Such talent. Anytime I saw that Gene Wilder was in a movie, I made sure to see it. I do wish there was a bit about Kenneth Mars as the inspector. He was so damn funny. His accent was thick as molasses. "TO THE LUMBER YARD!"
Especially when he's addressing the mob and says "He will regret the day that he was born!" in the heavy accent and they all say "Whaaat?" and he does the line over again completely without the accent.
My friend, my brother, and I saw this at the theater. My friend literally fell out of his seat laughing. How many of us comment, "Wow, what knockers" when we see a door knocker??
One of the best movies, if not the best, in my opinion, a true masterpiece. Everything said and shown in this video is spot on, everything was perfectly matched and timed in such a way that even after almost 50 years it's never old and still as funny as it can be. I can't count how many times I have seen it and I can truly state that I know it by heart; from the first time I saw it in a theater, later on in VHS and then in DVD I still can't get enough and once in a while I have to watch it to feel better and go through the day with a smile.
I felt tears well up while watching this...simply because these people who made this are mostly gone......I love them for this film alone... I'll forever miss new movies from them..
This is one of my favorite movies. So much so, that when the stage play came to Houston, I asked my husband to take me to see it. It was brilliant. We laughed so hard but I was taken aback by the music and stage setup. It was magical.
I remember seeing this at the theater with friends. We were high as kites and howling with laughter. From the Producers to History of the world his movies were must see.
All the actors that played their roles to perfection, and are not with us anymore,😑 your careers will always be immortalized by this work of art of a movie! Rest in peace you shining stars!
It is my favorite too. Also, "History of the World Part 1". I saw it with my dad for the first time. I was 10. I didn't get all the jokes, but I loved Marty. He simply had to look into the camera, and I'd burst into laughter. Thanks, Mel!
I LOVE this movie! I was, and still am, a huge fan of the old classic monster movies and the loving way this movie parodies and pays homage to the original 1931 movie is marvelous. The people in it are perfect, so very funny and talented. I don't know how many times I've watched it, but I have to re-watch it at least every Halloween!
It is actually condenses three of them into parody of absolute love and adoration. Every silly thing from originals is deliberately recreated and huge amount of gags was sprinkled in.
A very funny movie even today. It's one of those movies you will never forget. I saw it 4 times at the theater back in 1974. I have not done that since.

Two of the greatest comedies, to be sure.
Marty Feldman was a one-man Monty Python.
A very accurate description.
None shall pass.
And in my opinion far funnier
Those peepers. awesome!
Didn't Feldman get his start writing for one of the early absurdist British variety shows?
We lost him for too early, he was only age 48--what a shame. So many good roles he would have made if he had lived, but when you smoke 5 packs a day, you can't not expect it to catch up with you sooner or later
When we got home from the grocery shopping recently, my wife asked for help with the bags. I said,”Sure, you take the blonde, and I’ll take the one in the toiban”. My wife responded with a funny look and didn’t say a word. She knew.
👌🏼😂
Aww... 😥 A missed opportunity.
"Not that one though- it's taffeta, darling.
I do that too. Best comedic line of any film.. ever.
Right on!
Period.
Mel deserves a lifetime Oscar!
He deserves a statue on Hollywood Boulevard!
Most definitely!! The man is a comedic genius!!
👍
If he never got one...We the people are giving him one...For the laughs alone...Gene Wilder also...Top of the CLASS!!
@@vincentdinapoli9399 Mel Brooks won an Oscar for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay - Written Directly for the Screen for The Producers in 1967.
I adore this movie, even my kids- who were born in the late nineties - can quote it. What a cast and what a director, we’ve lost Gene, Cloris, Madeline, Kenneth, Marty, Peter and a few others now, but thanks to this movie they will never be forgotten…
pauljonze, beautifully said and so true.
I can quote this movie line for line. This movie gives me so much joy. I never get tired of watching it over and over.
im in tears before they even say the lines. this is my death bed movie 😁
Almost all Brooks movies hit me that way but Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and Spaceballs get quoted most.
"I'm gonna blow this N..."
BEST LINE EVER, in a movie! Blazing Saddles,
I can recite from memory. Even the bits CBS
added in the '80's. Young Frankenstein, rates
a VERY CLOSE second! 1 and 1A.

@@RICDirector how dare you not mention " The Producers " 😉
@@jamestiscareno4387 Because I don't quote it much? :P Forgive me! :P
😮 so😅
Cloris Leachman, Madeline Kahn, Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle - you all may be gone from this Earth but you will live on because this movie is immortal!
And Marty Feldman as I gore 😆
@@mariestreeting4213 and now in October 2024 Terri Garr at the age of 79
This is a movie you MUST force your kids to watch so they can see what true comedy is all about! Simply the best ever
No mention of Kenneth Mars(Inspector Kemp). Another brilliant performance completely overlooked.
"Before 'vee go round killing pee'ple, vee had better make DAMN sure he's following in his fodder's foot shtops!"
Easily the funniest of all Brooks's movies. I watch it every October, and laugh like it's the first time. I love love love this movie. A classic!
My favourite scene is between the monster and the blind hermit. Both Peter Boyle and Gene Hackman play off one another so perfectly. Sometimes it is the most "serious" actors who can be the funniest .
"I was going to make espresso."
One of the most perfect movies ever made, period.
My favorite movie EVER... I watch it once a year on average. This cathartic masterpiece resets my sense of humor and allows me to get through life in this topsy-turvy world.
Ah, "A YoungStein at heart..."
Amen !!!
They're still with u Bro!🙏🏼👍🏻
I remember seeing that Mel Brooks wondered about making a movie in black-and-white. That throwback makes YF even MORE of a classic than evah!!
I shared this movie with my then 10 yr old for the first time and he's 28 now and it's still his favorite movie and mine as well and we make it a point to watch it together from time to time and both throw out quotes from the movie all the time. Pure Comedic Genius!
It's a toss up as to whether Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles are my favorite comedies. Both are absolutely brilliant.
I mean mine is Spaceballs! But 2 and 3 are Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles!
I was 13 years old and my parents forbid me to see this movie! haha So I went to the theatre while staying overnight at a friends house. Looking back - that made the movie even better.
I've watched it countless times since. One of the funniest of all time.
Just read Mel Brooks’ autobiography. The funniest, loveliest man. Whole cast on the movie were hilarious. Incredibly special.
Read it last month and enjoyed reading about each movie and how casting came about.
Kind of a horrorshow, also
I met Mel Brooks while I was doing cue cards for Hollywood Squares back in the day. A very nice man. He was promoting Young Frankenstein at the time.
High Anxiety is underrated and overlooked
"Here's your paper! Here's your paper! Here's your damned paper!"
@michaelblumfield3933 That's the line that came into my head! LOL
Madeline wearing a plaid outfit with a matching plaid car!
Personally, I often come out with the line "You know, I never forget my old dad...when these things would happen to him... the things he'd say to me".
cigaAAaars!
My favorite lines are. "Where did you get this brain?". "Uh--abbe somebody, abbe-normal". And "put the candle back. " There were so many good lines.
Teri Garr was perfection in her first role. Amazing.:)
A roll in the hay,
It wasn't her first role. She'd been acting for about 10 years already, doing small guest roles and bit parts. It was, however, the role that made her well known.
This wasn't her first role. This is the role that proved her a master of her art.
And she was hot! I wouldn't have minded a roll in the hay with her!
She was adored in the Star Trek episode Assignment: Earth, considered to be one of the best episodes. i think she had a lot to do with that high ranking.
My dad always fell asleep at movies, except this one and blazing saddles. Tears rolled down his cheeks from laughing
~~ Mel Brooks could make grown men do that - but of course, especially in those two films he had a secret weapon - by the name of Gene Wilder ..

Or... "Hallelujahhh!!!"
Don't remember that(I haven't seen it in awhile) but that's the same lines as Blazing Saddles with Cleavon Little.
then you simply must check the Italian dubbing!

@@stevecosmolove1045 Please do.

A sweet story. The Wizard Of Oz scared the Hell out of me when I was a kid...... Now, on to " The Producers "
I did that too with my kids but said they had a salad with a vinaigrette dressing after the scene 😂
Used to, go, see Peter Boyle at Second City in Chicago.
My Dad absolutely LOVED Margaret Hamilton "and her little dog too," and could make me laugh every time he said that ;)
But then he took me to see "Old Yeller," where I couldn't stop crying, especially since he looked just like our dog at the time.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
I have this movie in DVD and cassette. I treasure them both.
Saw it a year ago first time, bought it on Bluray the day after.
Teri Garr and Madeline Kahn. Thank GOD, for Mel Brooks.
It is such a pleasure to discover my wife and I and our two kids are not alone knowing every line and injecting these lines into our experiences together choreographing our lives for over fifty years! So much JOY!
Love this movie, it`s a timeless Masterpiece, that could`ve never been made today, just like Blazing Saddles.....another Masterpiece by Mel Brooks.
...from a time when Mel Brooks and those of his era created stories to be funny; that's obviously a far different time than anything recent.
I had the exact same experience. The first movie I remember seeing in the theater, I was seven years old.
'for some reason'?
This is one of the top three movies I quote on a daily basis. Friends that see this movie suddenly go “wait a minute, is that why you said lightning was just an atmospheric discharge, nothing to worry about?!”
I watched Bride of Frankenstein on TMC Halloween night - all I could think of was how brilliant YF truly is. The screenplay, sets, casting, acting, music - it's all spot on.
This is one of my favorite childhood movies. So is Blazing Saddles. Gene was hilarious, so seriously hilarious 😂. Mel is just amazing too.
You just can't overstate the greatness of Gene Wilder the actor. The Waco kid The Frisco Kid nobody could have done that better
A masterpiece! We have a tradition in our family to watch it at New Year's Eve. And although we know the lines by heart, we still enjoy it like the first time!
Fabulous tradition !
I love, love, love this movie. I can watch it over and over because it never gets old.😄
Every time I watch this excellent documentary I have to watch the Young Frankenstein film again. I've lost track of how many times I've watched this wonderful motion picture. I absolutely love it! 🤗
Gene Wilder + a great script = CLASSIC!!!
This movie is like coming home. It welcomes you in, treats you warmly while you're there, and sends you off with a good feeling. Truly a classic American film.
"Masterpiece" is not a big enough word for this work of art
I've had this movie memorised since i was 10. Love Mel, Marty, Gene and Madeline especially
Ms. Madeline Kahn was a comedic genius--they ALL were. But her work, always left me gasping for air!
A classical singer she more sang than spoke her lines. Unique and masterful delivery.
Her role as Lily Von Shtupp in Blazing Saddles was genius!
I absolutely cried all the way through this film when I first saw it in the cinema. Pure comic genius!
I saw it for my birthday when I was little, and it remains one of my favorite films; and as I grew older and understood the genre of horror better, I loved it even more. It's a joy from start to finish, in every way.
You're just a "YoungStein" at heart.
Masterpiece!!!!Gene is part of my childhood and the warmth he produced on screen is just phenomenal

I know, right?! :)
Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles should be mandatory curriculum at every film school.
And so many kids today don't even recognize that line?
Mel Brooks is one of VERY few celebrities I'd like to meet. You can see the warmth in his eyes - a lovely person.
Wallowing in his granfadders voodschtops!!!
We saw it in Galveston!!!
So much incredible talent combined in a single movie -- simply amazing.

I saw this movie three times in theaters when it was new. Up until then I had never paid to see a movie even two times. It's that good.
It was not just a movie , it was magical .
