Not only did Jason do a great job at the reunion concert, he was the only one that could do it and still call it Led Zeppelin in my mind.
I don`t disagree with that, but there are drummers out there who could have done it too. Tommy Lee is one of them. You might laugh but Tommy`s style is very similar to Bonham`s. It`s simpler and more int the pocket, but Tommy has that back beat Bonham had.
For JPJ to say he thought he was back playing with Bonzo & looked up and saw Jason there says everything.
i thought jimmy page said that
Drummer Man this was 30 years ago
Knebworth sound check surprise for you Jason played drums for a while,
They all said it
Like Father, like SON!!!;-)
If the 3 remaing members are praising him. That's all he needs.
couldn't agree more
Yea, but don't you think they feel a bit obligated to praise him? Would you put down your friend's son?
Ultimately, he just does not have his father's feel for the rhythm. I'm not saying he is as bad as Lars from Metallica, but he jsut does not have that feeling for the rhythm that his father had.
I think you get the remaining members in a closed room and they would all say that as well.
IDK.. that home video of him playing just makes me think.. damn dude,, chill out and slow down! But, maybe he was just really excited and could not help it.. but even then you know there is a natural rhythm to the sound and you have to keep that accurate metronome going in your head.
he can play all the beats in pieces.. he just has trouble flowing naturally with other musicians , IMO!
@@kilmoturtles1 That's an unfair comparison. Nobody has the feeling and rhythm that his father had nor no one will ever have. He's got a different style of playing and he did justice to the songs while honoring his father, that's all it matters
He is an amazingly talented drummer and a fantastic showman, honoring his father every night on stage!!! SOLID...
It is incredible Bonham's son is also totally talentented. Some much magic going on with Led Zep
No one in this world has beaten their super genius father in any field when they set a trademark and became number one in the world on what they did. So expecting Jason beating his Dad is just unrealistic. Either enjoy his drumming or go listen to John Bonham, instead of coming here and throwing negative comments about a son who badly misses his father and remembers him through his drumming. Jason no matter what, Daddy is extremely proud that you are holding it up to his legacy. Thank you.
exactly. It's really sad to lose a good friend and father, and I think that it's beautiful for the son to step up and take part. I lost my dad when I was 17 and I felt in his shadow for a long time.
DJ DIDA Well said!
yes, very well said. 👍🍻
DJ DIDA - Even Dave Grohl sounded like shit playing with part of Led Zeppelin- as a listener I have to be honest and objective... I simply don't think that it's that easy to find a fill in for John Bohnam. And I don't blame him... The other three put him in that very difficult situation. I simply don't think he was up to it...
DJ DID
This makes me so emotional. Bonzo created such a unique drum style and helped form a piece of some of the greatest rock music of all time. To see his son carry on his legacy and to have his band mates welcome him in and have such a connection is amazing. His father would be so proud.
I cried. We can sit among the emotional section. 🙂
@@LizG1954 uma onda da bo
Jason is great, but there will only ever be one Bonzo. I think Jason knows that too. Drummers like John come around rarely.
And he'd be doubly proud that his son isn't just a carbon copy of him, but has developed his own style. As parents, that's what we all we can do. Show them the way, and then let them do their own thing.
@@kevinw8688 I don't think either Jason or Bonzo would want Jason to play just like Bonzo.
I just met Robert Plant on the street yesterday, and he spoke about Bonham with so much respect. He really loved his friend.
He have a house in montezuma, costa rica, i see 2 times in this country one time in the airport and the second in the beach a few meters of the house of him xD
He’s my next door neighbor, I see him every day. And we both summer together on Mars, good times.
Fuzzy Ewok bro I bet his house is expensive if he lives on Mars.
@Jeff myrick You think I'm lying, asshole? I took a picture with him. Here's the photo proof.

GET. THE. FUCK. OUTTA HERE!
@@apolloptx that's showing him Apollo. Now he can go fuck himself on Mars!!!
still think it Is cool to watch Jason twirl the drumstick when he was a child
That was the best....
Randy HUTCHINSON yes indeed
Phenomena all
Awesome, I saw that. No one would believe it, they have to see it!!
Check out Nandi Bushell here on UA-cam. Or Yoyoka Soma. Yoyoka is better, she is unbeatable for her age, but she is Japanese.. but Nandi is good for her age also. Good to watch.
A young prince ascended to his father's throne. And wore the crown brilliantly.
only on the o2 show did he really let loose and over played at times, but with power and finesse
He’s a mediocre drummer
That Chicago 1975 line and incident that John Paul Jones made me really happy :) - It really does prove he was the best person to fill in for John Bonham. Led Zep were an improv band, and here is a son who actually kept track of what his father knew
Jason Bonham is the living incarnation of the expression "chip off the old block"
We lost the greatest drummer we've ever seen, but they lost a friend. It's great to see these guys have all bonded with Jason as well.
Jason Bonham is one of the best, most solid and hardest working drummers today. He also seems like a very humble and kind guy. I love his playing and can't wait for the new Black Country Communion.
"a very humble and kind guy." Yup, met him just once, a real nice guy.
ua-cam.com/video/3QxwYWYzEis/v-deo.html
I've met him in person 3 times and he's not a humble guy and he's curt, cold and rude.
On the VH1 show Supergroup, which was a total shitshow, Jason was so humble and so hard working.
@@daveclark2507Maybe he just doesn’t like you.
Jason nailed the O2 concert..in fact The whole concert was awesome... Everyone were at their best.
👍
Trying to pinpoint when JPJ stopped aging. Some time before 1990 at least.
He looked older in 1988 than he does now... he’s got some poor fuck trapped in a painting somewhere aging for him
John Jones looks like he is 70.
Bret Zayger_Michigan well he’s 73 so you’re admitting he looks younger than he is 🌝
And I was just thinking how Jimmy still looks like Jimmy here's, just older. But Robert does not look like Robert to me. IDK that it is just age. Imho he looks like a totally different guy. Except for the hair maybe....🤔🤘
JPJ looks younger than 50 these days
And in the o2 arena gig he played just like his father did.
If you close your eyes it is exactly the same style same fills same feel . Jason is exactly like john in every way in his drumming technique and style. Fantastic drummer. If Bonzo was alive today he would be extremely proud of him . He took his fathers mantle and did zeppelin proud.
Except he ate too many chocolates and some got to he’s face is what happened and his dad would be ASHAMED to he.
Jason used a double drum pedal at 02 arena concert John bonham would never need a double pedal he can do it all with a single pedal!!
I love Jason's honest assessment of his fear and what was at stake when the curtain went up...
Yeah I liked how even though it’s his father and there is no one other than him they would’ve picked he still needs to go out and prove himself instead of feeling like he deserves it
he's just a drummer
Saw Jason Bonham and his band a couple years ago. WOW! Closed my eyes sounded as if Led Zeppelin was on stage, he was amazing!
Jimmy looks behind him and sees Jason Playing the drums and John setting in front listing to them play.
Must have been awesome for Jason
Bonzo would definitely be proud of Jason. Hell, I'm proud of him. KICKED ASS AT THE O2!
Hell yes he did!
Jason is a rare example of the offspring of a legendary musician who actually has the chops. He was amazing in Celebration Day. Btw, I’m still in love with Jimmy :)
Kennedy Greer Yes!!! Jimmy will always be a dreamboat! ☺💙🌌🌠
Don’t worry, I’m in love with jimmy too.
Who's Jimmy ms?
@@jqdizonofman8669 jimmy page duh
I think the celebration day version of Kashmir is the best recorded.
I love the fact, that Jason has his own style and is not trying to be his father.
So do i
a lot like Hank Williams Jr. Him and Jason couldn't get away from the gift/curse of their famous dad, but both were determined to prove themselves as individual artists, which they both definitely did.
To Jason: You did it! You made Led Zeppelin sound like Led Zeppelin again bro!
"Because he was sober", LOL!!!
Hats off to (Jason) Bonham.
3rd Millennium Man you bet! Hard to beat the best! Led Zeppelin! Only “1” . Awesome! Simply awesome!
I saw him with page and plant in the '90s. Best show I ever seen. Best I ever will see!!!
Nothing but LOVE!! 💖 Whole lotta love...GBJB
John**
you’re a true zeppelin fan XD
John Paul Jones is the one of the most talented musicians of all-time. He plays bass, guitar, keyboards and mandolin as well as many other instruments. He played on a lot of sessions for British artists b4 becoming a member of Led Zep.
I said the same, JP could play any instrument , even Violin! He was the Glue that stuck what Led Zep together. This is new to me that Jason can carry on in that style, heavy handed drumming , the police would be on my a s s w/ Bose 901 full vol. Ha! , other than JPJ , I have studing Pre Zep - Jeff Beck, prob the best Ele Guitarist ever ? Payed w Clapton , P Floyd, Zep, . . . see what he did with the Fender,, better than J Hendrix?? ua-cam.com/video/nQDjSGnmYBI/v-deo.html
Every Zeppelin fan already knows that. Well documented.
@@IAAP. There are millions of Zeppelin fans all over the world. I am sure that many of them don't know that.
@barrthen they aren't fans. ygreenstein8383
Jason is a great drummer in his own right! His father would be proud.
What an amazing clip, He is a chip off the ole mans block and many of us Rock and Rollers are grateful, rock on Jason!!!
I was a teen during Led Zeppelin's original run. For whatever reason I've become obsessed with them again over the past 4 months. I just wanted to say thank you for all who post this content and those who kept it updated so I could have this enormous gift. Jason is incredible, enormously gifted and can hold his own with the others. I hope he has a fabulous life.
I think Jason started where his father left off, and his father taught him everything he knew! Not to mention, he knew all the music!
Yeah but he isn't anywhere near as good
So if he took over .. what 10 albums did he make with as top band...
@@classicartfoundation639 Stupidest Comment Award goes to you!

Not a whole lot of children carry on their parents' legacy as you Jason. Thank you for doing it for your father and yourself and for the world and not let anything or anyone and not even the highest of highest standard that your dad had set in his brief lifetime get in the way of that. Keep on rocking!
I have been a drummer for 57 years. When I first heard Led Zeppelin in 1969, John Bonham became my role model, of course no one can match the music and rhythm that was in Johns Bonham’s head. In my humble opinion John Bonham is the master !! RIP John !!!
They are the greatest band that ever was - in my mind anyway. His father is looking down on him he’s so proud!!
I remember being glued to the TV the entire weekend MTV played this. With the release of the box set in 1990 it was a Led Zeppelin weekend. Videos, interviews, The Song Remains the Same concert.
Pure heaven for me at age 17.
Ok your playing the drums and you have Robert Plant and Jimmy Page facing you as you play. And you nail it. WOW I think that was amazing 👍
Haha. The pressures on and he pulls it off. Well done
that drumming at the end of Whole Lotta Love is excellent
teach your children well...
Massive respect to take on that gig , the pressure must have been enormous.
To all the naysayers, have you ever played with a band as hallowed as Led Zeppelin? Really impossible unless you've played with Led Zeppelin! Well Jason has! I think one of the most moving aspects of this is how seriously Jason took the 1988 Atlantic gig .. oh, and also what JPJ had to say about Jase following his specific bass fill from a show from Chicago in 1975 .. hmm, and how according to JPJ, when Bonzo had prompted his son to assume the throne (and a throne it most definitely was), so he could check on his sound, that JP played on thinking he was still playing with John! There's a great generosity of spirit shown by these Gods .. too many instances to cite .. but most certainly in evidence here. I am infinitely proud to say I've been introduced to Jase, many moons ago. Honestly, the thing that springs to mind most, thinking about all this, and as I type this tears are literally welling up in my eyes, is how it would feel to be in Jason's shoes, losing your Dad so unexpectedly, who clearly loved him so very dearly, and who encouraged him to follow in his truly giant footsteps. I salute all involved in this tribute, including Bonzo (RIP, physically no longer with us but most definitely there in spirit), but most of all Jase. God bless you all ...
Well said brother!
Jerry Villarreal Yes I second that emotion! Well said indeed!! I can't imagine the pressure he was under the first time going out!! I think I would have caved as I am a drummer also or I would have gotten smashed which believe me never turned out good for me either! So I'm glad he practiced and nailed it!!! I'm sure his pops is very proud!!!
Play country
just adding nods... you said it well. They were the prototype, along w/ DP, inventing the genre, and Jason humbly and w/ great respect did his dad proud.
Well, actually, he hasn't really played with Led Zeppelin. That's like saying you played with Skynyrd after Ronnie Van Zant died, or with The Doors after Morrison died. That said, Jason played with the surviving members of what was once a band called Led Zeppelin, which is pretty bloody cool in and of itself. I would imagine just being around the remaining members of LZ makes Jason feel closer to his dad.
7:44 Jimmy speaking with Producer/Engineer extraordinaire (Zep, Stones, Hendrix, etc.) Eddie Kramer. God bless Jason: I lost my dad in an accident, its a long hard road.
BluesLicks101 It's a long road without a turning.
Listen,I have two albums by Led Zeppelin . they sound good on the turntable. Toney Tillery Isaiah. Crank it up!
I'm glad the world gave us Jason Bonham!
I have photos of Jason on my Musicians Wall # 2. Along with SRV, and about 50 other very well known musicians. Jason is an amazing drummer, I love listening to him play.
Jason nailed it at 9:29...
I was blessed not only once
But 3 times to see Led Zeppelin
Oh what a lucky man I have been
Thank you Led Zeppelin
VERY VERY PROUD OF YOU JASON, YOUR DAD WOULD BE SO SO HAPPY AND PROUD, I KNOW HOW I FEEL WHEN MY SON ACHIEVES THINGS IM A PROUD FATHER TOO, SHAME BONZO WASN'T HERE TO HOLD YOU X
"Sparing?" good point Robert, that's kind of a jazz concept.
I saw Jason Bonham play with his band in Miami in 1989. Still remember it today. Awesome.
It shows you what life is capable of offering. Great job Jason.
Totally amazed by his passion on drums!!!!!
Imagine the dynamic of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jason Bonham who relive their dads every day through their profession. We are able to pick the times we remember our dads. Every time Jr. got in a race car, he was reminded of, and compared to, his father. Same with Jason...imagine hearing his dad's music every day. Rough.
Each musician has their own style and talents. Wonderful job.
I never was able to see John Bonham play but it was a lifetime honor to see the reunion with Jason and also the Page Plant work live. Nothing will ever match it.
Led Zeppelin is the Best Rock Band in history! Jason's intro
to the drums, was a gift well earned! When LedZep carried on, their live shows grew to the next generation.... a Cult like following, leaving audiences Starstruck⭐ ZEPPELIN IS STILL #1 🇬🇧🎸🎤🎹⭐♥️
I remember seeing things about John's son that was playing drums at the age of 4
I saw Jason and his band on a July 4th show coupled with Heart! Before the show a few of us had a paid-for meet and greet with drinks and food. Jason couldn't have been nicer, a real sweet gentleman, then he gets behind the kit and becomes a monster!
Bohnam taught his son very well if u watch some of the movies on Bhonam was a down to earth bloke as they call him so Jason learned from his father and yes his father is a legend love Zepplin who the hell wouldn't I think the rain song is a marvel it just so beautiful it's one of those song were yer like damn this song I feel it to my soul
I was always addicted to LED ZEPPELIN.
I was at the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary concert with Jason on the drums. If you closed your eyes and it sounded like John Bonham was on stage. What a show.
You must be deaf then
Best rock band ever,, “Led Zeppelin”...!!!
3:49 Those shades though! LOL
My friends and I met Bonham before he passed here in our hometown of MIAMI BEACH!! We also met Page!! What an honor!! What an iconic, legendary band unlike any other!!
He made his dad proud,Though it didn’t become what I had no doubt it could’ve still even if we never got to see or hear it,It was a great time in music for this incredible band to welcome their fallen and incredibly ICONIC DRUMMERS SON to share in the love and celebration for their legacy is beyond touching and magical!!!WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED!!AND THANK YOU JB AND LED ZEPPELIN FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION TO MUSIC!!!
Like father, like son!
Well done, Jason! Amazing drumming - so great you're keeping this legacy alive! (And extremely cute @1:52 with your Dad - very touching...)
So cute seeing Jason playing the drums as a child. Adorable.
I would imagine just being around the remaining members of LZ makes Jason feel closer to his dad. That's what he's really yearning. That 'thing' that Bonzo had, or that any person with a special talent and charisma has can't be replicated. I will always admire LZ for recognizing that.
Jason, your father is beyond proud of you and I'm sure bragging and boasting about you up in the Heavens 🤘😎👍
Jason has always been good... recently playing with Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Vic Johnson and knocking it out of the park !!!
Jason takes on so much humility and blows it out of every doubters ASS....the man has it! ❤️
I still miss Zepp so very much. I never got the opportunity to see them - ironically they had announced they would be playing Montreal on their upcoming tour and we were waiting for the tickets to go on sale when the news came through of John's death. Devastating.
he's a great drummer . totally killed it in Celebration Day. my god , 13 years ago already .
i'd be scared to jason imagine playing with your dads band and the 3 remaining members are your uncle the biggest band in the world man they are legends
Totally out rages thank you so much for sharing that. Man do I wish they had toured back in 07
Saw them live in the 70s. Was thoroughly impressed with Jason's performance in Celebration Days and would go see them again with him at the drums....hands down outstanding.
Led Zeppelin was the best
For as long as I’ve been a Zep fan, I can’t believe I was unaware they did a post breakup gig in NY.
They broadcast that concert on HBO and I know the footage from Zep's part in it is on UA-cam. You should totally check it out.
Jason is so likeable, unpretentious, his dad must be proud
They're all in mom jeans during rehearsal. God bless them...what game changers they were.
Jason.....You slayed it. Are you kidding me? You are *so* your Father's child. You took on the Led Zeppelin catalog! And *worked* it out but good. *With* the Zep Masters on stage. That's some *serious* kahunas .... And skills! I love your dad, and probably will never stop missing him. But what if we didn't have *you*. What if you weren't awesome like a beast? What would we do? Thank God for John Bonham and thank God for Jason Bonham.......Because we thank the great Gods above and the Universe for *LED ZEPPELIN*.
You work it out.......
Can't help but think of the song "Ten Years Gone" since some of this was filmed in 1990 a decade after Bonzo's demise.
Well, Jason, you are the amazing spectacle of a great talent with great gratitude (and thus, to a certain extent, humility), and a genuine love of life. Many more blessings to you and yours.
I have always thought Jason is a fantastic drummer and when I saw him live a few years back he was amazing .
What I respect most about Jason is that he earned his way to where he is now! He could have gotten pretty far just due to the fact that he is his Fathers son! Any up and coming band as well as a lot of established groups would have loved to bring him onboard, just for the recognition alone, but that wasnt good enough for Jason he wanted to do his Dad (as well as himself) proud and earn his stripes, so that's what he did and that is why he is an awesome drummer today!
I remember seeing him when I was a kid at a drum seminar Nashville Tennessee. I got his autograph on a bandana of mine. I tried to trade him my earrings for his earrings LOL. The darndest things kids say
He said sorry bud but these were a wedding gift from my wife. It doesn't hurt to ask
Seems such a humble guy...well done Jason...and zep for helping the young guy to realise his dream! The great led zep!
Thanks for posting this video.
You did well, Jason.
Shoulda had him at Live Aid.
That probably wouldn't have fixed the fact Page was high as a kite.
@@hypolyxa7207 that comparison is good lol
Live aid should've never happened.
Such an amazing bunch of musicians that we all love dearly.
My first exposure to Jason was at the 1994 Woodstock, I heard him there, I HEARD it and I honestly did not know he was going to be there, but, I turned to my friends and said " who is that?", nobody answered, then someone and I don't remember who this guy was, he said "that is Jason". I am SO happy for him. NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM.
Jason was always a cool guy when he was a motocrosser with Oggie, Dave O'brian and Coxy from Cox's Cranes and of course not to mention the other Motocross schoolboy champions.
Ohmygosh could you imagine, being raised by Led Zeppelin... that’s next to Jesus for a brother 🧡
Jason was/is an amazing man----who took an extremely heavy burden on his shoulders, and SHINED. I think his Dad would be so proud. Now he can live to be old and enjoy life that his father didn't quite get to.
Legend has it that after a Zep reunion gig with Jason on drums, at the end it was alleged ha had a tear in his eye and Robert asked him what was the problem,. I just done a gig with the best band in the world, said Jason, Robert said NO!! We've just played with one of the best drummers in the world...
Legend = "I don't have a single fucking reliable source".
Is it true
Ah yeah Jason is a chip off the old block, Sammy Hagar must be stoked to have him in the Circle :)
John Bohnam was the best.
I agree, I wish that I had a drummer with .025% of what he taught his son! Great work Jason!
xblackcatx13 666 yea. definitely.
He could bang the drums all night; for sure
good luck trying to out bang him or out drink him
The same sort of thing happened to me with Ozzy, I had bought two 5th row seats on Randy's side of the stage, to see Ozzy Osbourne on the Diary Tour, I was 14 and was hanging around older folks and started experimenting with Black Beauties & Everclear, my mom thought I was sick so she took me to the doctor, they admitted me into the hospital for 2 days and the doctor didn't release me on time and I gave up my tickets to my best friend, Randy Rhoads died about two weeks later. I was devastated!
In response to Drinkerbelle ;o)
Love love the music. Gives me chills still at 56
Adore this video. Thanks for uploading. 🖤✨
No one beats bonzo... But one can be just behind him and that's jason.
Robert Plant is one of the great ones. He also has an awesome personality. I could listen to him forever. He'd be great to have a few drinks with.
Wow thank you for the window into the private life of Jason B - love his humility 🙏
Loved it.
