@@mirshia5248 Same reason they don't make a profit from the PS5 or PS4. They take a loss on hardware to make the price cheaper so they can make more money on software. Norm is the person who got me excited about the possibilities of VR gaming way back in 2015-2016. Now, in 2023 I finally have the cash and space to get a PSVR2 as my first VR headset. Can’t wait to use it next week!!
@@Llamu I was quite disappointed when I first tried PSVR1, I have a lot of confidence that PSVR2 will be on a whole other level, PSVR1 was extremely bad graphics/tracking/low-res/problem to set up, and PSVR2 seems to going to do everything like ten times better, and the eye tracking combined with foveated rendering AND GT7 with full support??? @@High.on.Life_DnB yeah, that headset had extremely outdated tech even at the time of launch as the top priority was to make it as cheap as possible. And even then, after buying the camera and move controllers it costed more than the VR2. The generational leap between this one and that one is probably so big that it would feel as if you’re trying VR for the first time.
I've been binging PSVR2 videos all morning and without a doubt, Norm's is the best review out there. Super detailed, but very well organized and presented. Great job!
Glad you lumped your recommendations into categories. This is definitely a no brainer if you own a PS5, and don't have a PC to play high end VR games. Tons of games to play at launch if you haven't purchased all of the available titles on other headsets too. Can't wait to try this thing on in a week!
I’m so glad that Sony is making this! I don’t have a PS5 or plans to get one, but I do have an Index and I feel like the more VR headsets there are the better for everyone. It means it isn’t a dying platform. VR truly is special and hopefully lots more people will discover that now.
One detail: turning off gaze tracking torns it off only for eye tracked controls (menus, aiming assists, etc.), but it doesn't turn off for foveated rendering, which remains active.
Love me some VR. I'm still rocking the Rift S. It still holds up well! Been playing Skyrim VR. I think it's still my favorite VR game, especially with the seemingly infinite amount of mods that really make it an incredible experience. PSVR2 seems great! I hope the VR industry continues to grow and become more accessible.
I am thinking to use mods in the flat version mainly the multi-player mod, and make the game 3d with reshade + depth 3d. Have you ever tried or heard of someone with this setup? Playing skyrim with friends in 3d seems a to be a nice experience.
Norm is probably my most-trusted reviewer, and I thought he did an absolutely GREAT job with this review. Ultimately, it seems like his takeaway is that the headset is really good, but he just wants to see more games that truly take advantage of it. I can absolutely see if you've already got a decent PCVR headset with a bunch of games, you might hold off. For me, I don't own any VR games, so a launch with over 30 games seems like a lot - even if a lot are ports. The PS3 launched with 21 games, and the PS2 launched with 29 (and just 11 for the PS1). So, I don't think this is a poor lineup at all... but I DO get his point -- for many people it'll be worth waiting to see what's next before jumping in.
Coming from pc vr this is definitely done right and I'm getting it just to get the eye tracking and the hdr oled which I think are big features. As expensive as it is this would sell for $800-900 as a PC vr set easily.
Beyond analysis of the angular pixels size compared to that of the PSVR2, most Quest 2 games will not render at 1:1 screen resolution after barrel distortion correction as been applied. For this to happen, Quest 2 must render ~1.7x the native resolution close to the center of the screen. Even if the Quest 2 game is rendering 1.25 or 1.5x the native resolution, this will still display as less than the native resolution of the device and appear softer. The reason PSVR2 looks sharper than the quest 2 is almost certainly because the PSVR2 is rendering closer to 1:1 on the final output, wheras the Quest 2 is typically rendering less than 1:1 on the final output. While the Quest2's resolution looks good on paper, it rarely showcases this resolution in actual games, and so is mostly a false representation of what to expect. There are a handful of examples on Quest 2 that show native resolutions. In Altspace VR and Bigscreen, you can set the multiple of the framebuffer size in the graphics option. A game called Sidequest game called H.A.X. features a super high resolution. Also the animation player can display high resolution if you toggle the "HD" button at the lower right of the menu.
If I'm going to spend money on VR, I just think that PSVR is a good choice. I'll need to look into games available, but the price and what you get for it is just too good to ignore.
It has one of the best gaming launch lineups of all times. And that includes all the consoles that ever launched too. There’s a game for everyone, it seems.
@TwilightKing0 For actual launch its missing a lot. Basically just call of the wild, gt7, and kayak I'm interested in straight away. Launch window will have more. Stuff like beat Saber. Also hoping that Bethesda will do another skyrim vr port, but they're now owned by Microsoft so probably not
@@caenir fyi, phil spencer is very anti-VR behind closed doors. MS just failed for the third and forth time with the Quest Pro and the military absolutely shitting on the HL2. MS/Xbox are done with VR, for at least until they each get a new CEO.
I'm one of those VR newbies w/ no VR experience and I'm super excited for this, mainly for GT7! All the other VR games are just icing on the cake, since they're all new to me! Can't wait! Thanks for your detailed review!
Follow the recommendations for how to gain your VR legs. For some, VR can really throw the brain for a loop, and they need to get accustomed to VR over time. GT7 might be too intense as your first game, just so you know. Don't get discouraged if you get a bit nauseated, just stop playing immediately and try again in some hours or the next day. Over time, your brain will get used to it and stop freaking out, and that's when the fun starts for realsies.
@@vgaportauthority9932 I wouldn't say HOURS are required in-between sessions - the current standard recommendation is 15min breaks at a time. It generally only takes a few days to adjust. Would highly recommend playing in a seated position first, but also pushing yourself to stay standing in VR to really get your brain to adjust to the new sensation. A few days later locomotion vignettes wont be required.
The more VR the better. I am a PCVR person but we need this for the masses. It is VR done right this time. So I am very happy to welcome you guys to good VR
AFAIK the original PSVR has 2 variants, and seconds one come with a pair of in-ear just like this PSVR2. The attachment is very similar if not identical. I do have the second version.
On the audio front, not sure why it wasn't mentioned but PSVR1 had a mid gen refresh that condensed the headset cables from two parallel cables into a single lighter one, moved the headphone socket and level controls up onto the headset, and also has pretty much the same custom removable earbuds piece as PSVR2. This minor "PSVR1.5" headset refresh was at the same time they updated the breakout box to support HDR pass through. A minor but welcome comfort upgrade that appears to have been kept as-is for PSVR2, which is great.
Yep, got my PSVR1 in 2019 and had the headphone jack on the headset. I was confused at first when he showed the cables required for audio. Very interesting info about the refresh.
PSVR1 came with a special short earbud cable that plugged directly into the rear of the headset. Also, nobody ever realizes the triangle looking holes on the side of the headset (both PSVR1 & PSVR2) are where you store the earbuds when you're done playing...
I've seen a running theme in PSVR2 reviews of people complaining about the games lineup. We aren't even at launch yet. No game console has launched with a million exclusive games. Like with everything else, the game library is going to fill out over time. Give it a year and there's gonna be tons of games for it.
I just tried vr for the first time ever this passed weekend and I have been debating since whether I should get pcvr or psvr2. I ended up choosing psvr2 and I am stoked for it to show up this week
I can also vouch that the image quality in this headset is a significant upgrade over the Meta Quest 2. Which I think looks good but this looks great. But I also agree that if you have a 4K TV with Dolby Vision, you will still want to play your non-VR games on that versus in the headset. A perfect example is Hogwarts Legacy. Tried playing that in cinematic mode and even put on the special setting for 120hz in cinematic mode and it doesn't come close to my TV with Dolby Vision. I highly suggest having Gran Turismo for this because you can play that with a dual sense controller and be charging up the VR controllers while you do that. Plus it looks amazing and feels nice on a dual sense. I can only imagine if you have an expensive wheel accessory, It's even more sweet.
When i placed my preorder months ago, i was really hoping for an Astrobot announcement along the way :/ But I’ve mainly been playing gt7, so THAT announcement took me totally by surprise and now i can’t wait to play it
I'm hoping PSVR2 is a success and brings VR back to life after Facebook has killed it. VR has been dead in the water for years since Facebook bought up the market to turn into a mobile gaming system with low-effort developed games. What I really want is for Sony to push Valve to create more hardware and software for VR, help push VR forward, not backwards, like so many are doing. With that, maybe once Xbox gets rid of Phil Spencer and new blood at Nintendo take over, we will see a new generation of VR products connected to powerful consoles in the next 5 years. Restarting VR mainstream adoption and pushing developers to put effort and money into developing VR games. There is so much potential for VR, and very few are seeing it, or willing to put in the effort to learn from others instead of building something with ignorance.
Thank you for the in depth review. I’m contemplating buying a unit. How many of you at 19:57 followed the dot as if you were setting up the PSVR2 for yourself?
They will probably add 3d blu-ray support in a firmware update a bit later on, they added 3d blu-ray support about 3-4 months after the PS VR release on the PS4 back in 2016. Edit btw don't worry if you have the digital PS5 version because Sony has officially confirmed that they will release a detachable disc-drive later this year which gives me even more reasons to believe that we will get the 3d blu-ray update later on
Norm providing more useful information about this in the first few minutes than the entirety of any other review I’ve seen. Man is a pro. Every other video is a mid-tier UA-camr reading the press sheet verbatim with no useful insight whatsoever. Big up norm
Yeah, learnt a lot. Didn't realize that the usual dualsense wouldn't be tracked like the ds4. Also, the haptics being disappointing. I heard other people compare it to switches HD rumble.
I'm probably very late with this since I mostly just watch the VR stuff but I guess Jeremy is no longer at tested? That's too bad, I thought they made a really good team with Norm.
the game launch lineup is actually one of the reasons im getting it day one and there are a lot more games at launch and because you cant play them early before launch doesn't mean the games are lacking
Great review. The hype is real! I'll have mine on the 22nd. I'm currently covering my living room with plastic because I might explode! 💥😆 Update: HOLY MOLY BATMAN! I just got the email, after watching this review, that my PSVR2 has shipped! 😲 My living room is a mess.😜
Finally someone with a lot of knowledge about vr hardware doing a review of it. I own a quest 2, and a gaming pc, but I also have owned every PlayStation so I own a 5 obviously as well. I’m getting psvr 2 mainly to be able to play on an oled. The quest 2 is the only gaming display I use that still has lcd. Also I really hate the compression over link/airlink and the extra latency you specifically notice with the touch controllers.
Love your review Norm, you continue to be the gold standard when it comes to VR knowledge and objectivity. This is a solid review, I have a bit of disagreement just with the end bit. Call Of The Mountain is not the only exclusive, GT7 in VR is exclusive to PS5, so is Resident Evil 8. We should also be talking about performance per dollar here. No Man's Sky, for instance, performs terribly on my PC even with a 3080, and Star Wars Tales From Galaxy's Edge is an Oculus exclusive on PC. For those of us who all we have is an Index or equivalent non-Oculus PCVR device the PSVR2 is a worthy addition. It gives us access to Call of The Mountain, Grand Turismo 7 (VR), Resident Evil Village (VR), and Star Wars Tales From The Galaxy's edge for the first time, and it also has the potential of allowing us to play games with higher fidelity and better performance than we do on PC thanks to both the console nature of the PS5 as well as the foveated rendering feature.
I wanted to get some more realistic expectations for those fairly new to vr. I have a psvr1 but the way a lot of people talked about it sounded like it would insane the level of detailed comparatively. I found that a lot of people's expectations have been rather tempered after getting their hands on the psvr2 mainly due to these factors: It's marketed as hdr 4k - I know vr enthusiasts know this does not translate to the same thing as a lg Oled TV or something but to a lot of people it is more akin to like a 1080p screen and this is confusing for the newer vr folks. The edge to edge clarity is extremely off-putting to newer folks too. The sweet spot put a clear screen in the center (about 50% of the screen in the middle). If your peripheral vision wanders to halfway past the middle of the screen you start seeing the blurring that a lot of people have been talking about on forums like reddit. That feels rather narrow but maybe to dedicated vr users that is wider than normal. What would be helpful is something to help set expectations and know what is "normal" because I think many people may start thinking something is wrong with their headset or its just not what they were expecting.
29:40 thank you so much for this clarification! I have been searching high and low for this, thinking that there would be compression artifacts because of using USB-C. Only think that sucks is that if it is proprietary, this will probably never work with a PC.
The dual sense controller has led lights on the top of the controller. The inside out tracking only needs the cameras to look at the controller to track for it, in addition to the gyros it will be fine.
I'm actually primarily a PC gamer who now has a Quest 2 for PC VR only, and previously had a HP Reverb 2. The Reverb was doo damn unreliable and sold it while it was still in working condition, and the Quest 2... too bulky for PC VR, quality is not really there with the image compression, and not that comfortable even with several mods I have. I've preordered PSVR2, and my main hopes are: comfort+quality, GT7 - no comments needed I guess..., really hoping that No Man's Sky will be well optimized, and let's hope there will be more exciting titles to come. I have 1 week to keep myself busy with Half Life Alyx one last time perhaps (but hope not!)
Honestly. PSVR2 is the Future that VR has promised to be for a long time. That standard we expect is finally here. Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil 8 are unmatched titles in VR, going back to a standard screen will never happen. The future is now.
Apparently the connection is virtualink and it does connect to graphic cards that have it. Unfortunately they ditched the connection on more recent cards and they are only available on top of the line 2080 series. It would be interesting if recent cards bring it back and drivers are developed to make it compatible to PC as well…
@@IrocZIV I've done the Star Wars VR Void thing where you were the suit and stuff, and wayyyy back in the 90s with the VR with the gyro setup, but I've been waiting for the graphics, pixel density, refresh late, latency, ease, etc and it seems like we are finally here.
If only Sony considered going PCVR as well and building a Steam like ecosystem for thier games to run on PC. But this is great in helping to move PCVR forward by setting new Standards
The most informative review on psvr2! So great to see an objective review, only issue I see with vr2 is considering the lack of storage real estate even with an optional internal storage, not sure it is important enough for me to get vr2. Also all the charging requirement of the controllers add to all the other stuff in the game room. Maybe when serious racing sims support vr2 like Assetto Corsa and acc support this it will become more enticing! Nice design, and I am sure the old psvr games will at some point be emulated with free updates, hopefully!
I've got a second rift and have played a ton of VR, but I still ended up getting this headset. I've got the Fanatec wheel and I am in love with GT7. Also excited to try out Resident Evil 8 in VR.
This is a fairly decent overview but with the audio solution you made it seem as though the ear buds connected in the back are new to PSVR2. They are not. Sony had already done this with a hardware revision with the original PSVR. Also the ear buds don't "just dangle". The soft spots on either side of the headset are where you store them when not in use.
I really wish they supported pcvr. It would help reduce the cost by being able to scale up production catering to a larger market. Plus they can also sell their PlayStation vr games on the pc.
I could see that! I feel like if they were to add official PC support it would just be later on because they are trying to capitalize on it selling more PS5s for now.
It doesn't help reduce the cost because they're expecting game sales on Playstation to do that. If you buy the headset and never buy the games you end up in the position Meta was in recently when they had to raise the price of the device.
I doubt we will see PCVR support, because we would need an adapter for it. But I do have the feeling that we are going to see PSVR2 games on PC, with the way Sony is porting even PS5 games to PC now.
The only VR hardware reviews I need. Norm delivers every time. I'm surprised Sony didn't enable some sort of first-party emulation of PSVR1 games for the PSVR2. Even if no new features were added to PSVR1 games on the PSVR2 beyond the native resolution upgrade, it would breathe new life(and sales!) into classic PSVR1 games, and preserve your library, which is now locked to PS4 & PSVR1-only forever.
This is very exciting. I wish the price for PS5 + Headset wasn't so high. But it seems worth it. I wonder if the moiré effect comes from the subpixel arrangement of OLED screens. Developers need to take this into consideration.
That GT 7 VR is going to give me all the pleasure of PCVR drifting without any of the god damn PC jank. I'll sit down behind my wheel.. Turn on the PS5, put the PSVR2 on my head and start driving... The ease of use is going to be a massive change of pace from the airlink/VD hellfest of the past 2 years.
They really, really need to leverage their Square/Enix connection for diorama-style RPG's and the Killzone franchise for a competitive multiplayer. Not some handholding, on-rails experience, but a real sweaty-tryhard shoothouse. Too many experiences try to babysit you instead of letting you cut loose and really bury your head into VR gameplay.
@@WindFireAllThatKindOfThing both needs to exsist, not everyone can stomach hrs or sweaty VR. there is competitive games for PSVR2 already though but not covered in these reviews. Stuff like GT7 and RE8 should instill confidence in getting full games alongside exclusive experiences
@@ItsAkile Definitely need both, but the timid stuff is ALL we get. Years of toxic clickbait VR-Is-Dead journalism crying about motion sickness has made devs paranoid that 1 little Timmy somewhere out there in the world can't handle it, meanwhile real squeakers are flying to and fro in Rec Room Paintball like happy, foul-mouthed, meth addicted ninjas, yet even Valve won't even take the logical (and overdue) step of releaseing a VR Counterstrike built off of Alyx. Nevermind EA or Activision getting into the ring with _their_ ailing flagship FPS franchises.
@@WindFireAllThatKindOfThing yeah, some say the Haptics are turned down in this build of horizon Vr. That’s an easy fix with a patch though, maybe intensity toggle.
In the same way that Sony wanted “everyone” to play Astrobot to be introduced to their PS5 & PSVR technology at launch, they believe Horizon is the best game to impress & introduce “everyone” to PSVR2 without splitting the hype. And it’s 1st-person to show off certain features in a way Astrobot cannot as a 3rd-person platformer. Besides, they seem to really want the Horizon franchise to expand & succeed. I’m sure an Astrobot game is coming and almost all PSVR2 users will love & buy it.
These VR headsets are meant for the casual VR user, I guess what could be best described as a gateway VR headset. My issue is I get queasy and until there's a much wider FoV, at least 240Hz and with 6K I'll have to pass. I've tried VR and the most I can take of it is 15 to 20 minutes and that's even on a friend's decent setup using his HTC Vive Pro 2 with its 4896 x 2448 @ 120 Hz screen.
I used to get really sick first few times I played but I noticed I eventually was able to get over it even on the first oculus rift, might be u just need to slowly acclimate to it over a number of different days, some games are a lot more nauseating than others too Minecraft vr was surprisingly one of the worst offenders for me
@@pistachiodisguisey911 Yes, I get sick in minutes on the Kayak game, while Moss I can play for hours. Horizon I have to pause every 45-60mins and definitely avoid using smooth turning. I feel like my tolerance is increasing though.

IMPORTANT THING that most GT7 VR players dont know is - for anyone wondering how to adjust the in game wheel (sitting position) to be higher or lower, or away from you (the driver), or closer to you, simply lower your head (while you have the psvr2 headset on) and keep pressed the option button if you want the wheel to be higher, raise the head+hold the option button if you want the wheel to be lower. Lean/move your body toward the wheel and keep pressed the option button if you want the in game wheel to be further from you, move away from the wheel+hold on the option button if you want the ingame wheel to be closer to you. So, play around a few times until you get the desired position.
Pricing wise, it's positioned at a place where, going for same experience elsewhere costs you more, and going for a lesser experience is cheaper, but that's not what you want once you have seen PSVR2.
I don’t agree with the lineup, it’s quite good imo. But then again GT7 was enough to make me preorder. It’ll be my first VR, so any game will be new to me 😁

i knew going into the next gen consoles that i would get an xbox series S, then a ps5 with the disc drive, and eventually the psvr2 to enter into the vr world. i have a pc but it doesnt really meet the high end gaming status quo to run a GOOD vr experience. so i knew that psvr 2 would be my entry into vr and would be fun and exciting to show to friends and family. eventually when valve updates their vr experience and i update my pc specs i will dive into that world but this certainly is filling a 34 year void of mine where vr hasnt been HD enough, hasnt been fun or inviting enough because i got rid of my facebook account in 2011. I've had a goal in mind since the next gen consoles were announced and next week i get to fulfill that vision i had a couple years ago. im fortunate enough to be in this position and i look forward to experiencing this new world of gaming. my only introduction was my nephews original quest vr headset and thats all it took for me to know when sony came out with the psvr2 that i would be all over with and that this is the right move into the future. i cannot wait to see more vr take off!

@24:00 it's not just pixels per angle since the distortion is slightly different between different lens types, the true pixels per degree in the center foveated area may be slightly different
13:52 Thank you someone mentioned the grip buttons i was worried about them aswell. We all remember the garbage Vive grip buttons that had no travel time.
great review. also the sweat spot and the field of view and ghosting are better if you are not use glasses. when you use vr without glasses your eyes can be nearer to the lenses compare to person who use glasses and the overall experience is way better compare to person who use glasses. in my opinion for its price psvr2 is a great vr headset compare to other expensive headsets.
I don't understand why they don't have a game theater option where your in a virtual room playing a game on a TV, but it's 3d, and you can stretch it to make it bigger, easing you in to VR. It just seems like a good idea.

Also hoping that Bethesda will do another skyrim vr port, but they're now owned by Microsoft so probably not
Unless you already have a pc that can run VR, then the PSVR2 is a terrible offering.
Quest 2 is still the best bang for buck.

Norm, thank you for your reviews as literally everyone else on the internet pales in comparison per the thoroughness and quality you provide.
PSVR1 came with a special short earbud cable that plugged directly into the rear of the headset.
Also, nobody ever realizes the triangle looking holes on the side of the headset (both PSVR1 & PSVR2) are where you store the earbuds when you're done playing...
WHAT. my mind is blown about the earbud storage
Yeah. You can tell reviewers don't read instructions. Sony showed it in the unboxing vid. 😂
PSVR1 had 2 models, the OG model had to plug headphones into the cable, not the headset itself.
I've seen a running theme in PSVR2 reviews of people complaining about the games lineup. We aren't even at launch yet. No game console has launched with a million exclusive games. Like with everything else, the game library is going to fill out over time. Give it a year and there's gonna be tons of games for it.
5:23 That room scanning feature is so futuristic, and it's NOW! Man, we are in the future. :D
it's a great onboarding experience!
God I really hope this thing grows the VR player base and we get more games across the board because of it. For PSVR and PCVR.
I just tried vr for the first time ever this passed weekend and I have been debating since whether I should get pcvr or psvr2. I ended up choosing psvr2 and I am stoked for it to show up this week
Good choice 👍
When i placed my preorder months ago, i was really hoping for an Astrobot announcement along the way :/
But I’ve mainly been playing gt7, so THAT announcement took me totally by surprise and now i can’t wait to play it
I'm hoping PSVR2 is a success and brings VR back to life after Facebook has killed it.
Jeez, what a comprehensive and helpful review, thank you!
Thank you for the in depth review. I’m contemplating buying a unit.
How many of you at 19:57 followed the dot as if you were setting up the PSVR2 for yourself?
If you could use 3D blu rays in cinematic mode think they could have something there...
They will probably add 3d blu-ray support in a firmware update a bit later on, they added 3d blu-ray support about 3-4 months after the PS VR release on the PS4 back in 2016.
Edit btw don't worry if you have the digital PS5 version because Sony has officially confirmed that they will release a detachable disc-drive later this year which gives me even more reasons to believe that we will get the 3d blu-ray update later on
well most people don have any vr, so this is awesome.

Agreed
I wanted to get some more realistic expectations for those fairly new to vr. I have a psvr1 but the way a lot of people talked about it sounded like it would insane the level of detailed comparatively. I found that a lot of people's expectations have been rather tempered after getting their hands on the psvr2 mainly due to these factors:
It's marketed as hdr 4k - I know vr enthusiasts know this does not translate to the same thing as a lg Oled TV or something but to a lot of people it is more akin to like a 1080p screen and this is confusing for the newer vr folks.
Nitpicky correction: the PSVR camera was just called PlayStation Camera. The “Eye” was the PS3 peripheral, and was not compatible.
Ah, thanks!
29:40 thank you so much for this clarification! I have been searching high and low for this, thinking that there would be compression artifacts because of using USB-C. Only think that sucks is that if it is proprietary, this will probably never work with a PC.
Any word on 3D bluray support?
Best review so far ! Thanks !

Real excellent review thank you for such an in depth review. My VR gets here tomorrow.
Mine too !
Mine as well!
I say 3 months later, lol
The dual sense controller has led lights on the top of the controller. The inside out tracking only needs the cameras to look at the controller to track for it, in addition to the gyros it will be fine.
Thank you for explaining the IPD thing. I couldn't find details on it and your review gave me the reason why
I’m 75mm so ipd is super important to me. Sony really need to give us a range.
It would be interesting if recent cards bring it back and drivers are developed to make it compatible to PC as well…
Never really tried VR because it never looked great, but I've pre-ordered this. Excited to be jumping in finally
Great stuff...The more on board with VR the merrier 😀

If only Sony considered going PCVR as well and building a Steam like ecosystem for thier games to run on PC.

That would cost Sony a lot of money.
Finally the details I was looking for re: Cinematic Mode - thank you!
Great, in depth and balanced review.
I've got a second rift and have played a ton of VR, but I still ended up getting this headset. I've got the Fanatec wheel and I am in love with GT7. Also excited to try out Resident Evil 8 in VR.
glad to see all this new hardware and Norm / Tested getting back into reviews! :D
Outstanding review!
The BEST PlayStation VR2 review!!! Detailed and thoughtful! Thanks!

There’s a few developer interviews out there which explain how psvr1 games just won’t work on psvr2 without effort to port and change a lot of things.
They aren't using regular fresnel lenses. They call it next-gen fresnel.
This is very exciting. I wish the price for PS5 + Headset wasn't so high. But it seems worth it. I wonder if the moiré effect comes from the subpixel arrangement of OLED screens. Developers need to take this into consideration.
The last version of the PSVR1 also had the same earbud cable design and the port was also located in the band of the headset
Good I'm glad in not the only persone that was thinking that

They really, really need to leverage their Square/Enix connection for diorama-style RPG's and the Killzone franchise for a competitive multiplayer. I think it's wild that there's no Astro game at launch, or even announced.
Seriously!

Pricing wise, it's positioned at a place where, going for same experience elsewhere costs you more, and going for a lesser experience is cheaper, but that's not what you want once you have seen PSVR2.

i knew going into the next gen consoles that i would get an xbox series S, then a ps5 with the disc drive, and eventually the psvr2 to enter into the vr world. i have a pc but it doesnt really meet the high end gaming status quo to run a GOOD vr experience. so i knew that psvr 2 would be my entry into vr and would be fun and exciting to show to friends and family. eventually when valve updates their vr experience and i update my pc specs i will dive into that world but this certainly is filling a 34 year void of mine where vr hasnt been HD enough, hasnt been fun or inviting enough because i got rid of my facebook account in 2011.
