I enjoy your work. Just wondering if the slowmo files are video or one file per frame. If per frame and a compressed file, I wonder if you can just look for a change in file size to see when the action starts. Also can the cameras detect changes from frame to frame and flag them somehow?
@@Dielawn69 How do you figure that? He was barely in anything besides F**kface for the last half a decade. He was usually doing slow mo guys or projects like this anyway.
could you imagine what the show would have looked like with the camera tech we have now ohhh please make a special mythbusters episode with all these new fancy cameras ... the cement truck in 8k slowmo uurrgghhhh i need it
I feel like one of the biggest contributions to the world Adam and folks like him have done is the enthusiasm. not just about science but that is a big part of it. it's "This thing is so cool!" It is both infectious and it gives people permission to be enthusiastic about their interests.
I agree and have said similar in multiple occasions! 🍻 Here's a real brain melter for you/everyone... Try and imagine a world where Mythbusters never happened, and as such, Adam was never in our lives, nor would he be now. 🫠🤯 It's nigh impossible! The knock-on effect of Mythbusters would've meant so much in the world would not have happened. So many people wouldn't be in the fields they are in all because that inspiration wouldn't have existed. It's basically a very real and public example of The Butterfly Effect... I'm *very* grateful we DO live in this universe, which _did_ have Mythbusters and now Adam on UA-cam.
Adam is an international treasure. He reminds us daily that we shouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed about the things we find interesting or that we want to learn more about. We should pursue those things with enthusiasm just because it's what we want to do.
I wonder if anyone has ever looked through the data to see if there was a marked increase in the number of professionals/college graduates working in fields that Mythbusters would highlight, say STEM related or what have you.
It's really fun to see people like Gavin and Nerdforge guest appear in the shop because you can see the conflict on their faces of wanting to fanboy and fangirl, but also want to come off as being professional and it's really cute 😄
If you go watch gavys video on slowmo2 you will see adam light up in the opening when gavin talks about mythbusters and what it was to him. I love seeing it goes both ways.
There is genuinely nothing I love more than two people with expertise in a subject speak at length about their specialist subject[s], so this is delightful. Seeing exactly how much Gav and Adam have learned in their years of working is inspiring, too. They're not just entertainers, but actual experts.
It is generally pretty cool but it is especially great in stuff like this where it isn't just something they know a lot about but are also extremely passionate about. Happily and excitedly sharing knowledge is so much more captivating than just talking.
Damn, getting permission to slap a legend. Gav can brag about that for the rest of his life. SlowMo Guys and Adam Savage's Tested is always a guarantee for good content.
I must admit when Jamie slapped Adam years ago on Mythbusters, it was funny. Now, part of my brain is screaming, “be careful, you’re going to hurt him!”
I enjoy watching the amazing builds Adam has made, and watching his process. But I think this solidifies for me that his interviews are the best. Just seeing someone who has had such a wide range of wild experiences (often involved in the process with some contraption or another) lovingly geek out with an expert in a particular field, and get into both the technical detail of how a thing works, and the personal detail of how an expert found the field and developed their craft, is just so uplifting and encouraging. When it is hard to feel good about the world, seeing Adam's boundless enthusiasm and love for the human experience as a whole, never ceases to comfort me.
I really love how Adam made a point of physically reaffirming that there were no hard feelings with Gavin. You can say "we're good" and mean it and it won't have the reassuring effect of a good, hearty bro-hug.
I love watching all of the UA-cam nerds meet Adam. Most people don't expect to meet their childhood heroes and even fewer can expect them to actually be same the person you grew up admiring. Thanks for what you do for the nerd community Adam. You're one of the greats.
2 of my favorite creators. Tested and the Slow Mo Guys helped me through the beginnings of the pandemic, my early retirement, and my deep dive into UA-cam.
Gav liked Red vs Blue, he got to direct it. He liked movies, he ended up working on them. He liked video games, he ended playing them for money and featuring in a bunch. He liked The Inbetweeners, he got to be friends with Jay. He liked Mythbusters, here he is. This man just manifests his dreams
Its always interesting to watch Gav (and Dan) go from fun guys to ultra professional and back again. In those professional moments their whole posture and voice changes and you know that now is not the time to mess around.
Same as with Mythbusters, it's all fun and games until the firearms or high explosives come out, and then it's all business. If you ever watch Cletus McFarland, his persona doing s**t with cars and how he acts as a pilot are two very different things.
Particularly given the flip isn't just "okay we're going to shoot the thing now it's serious time" and then minutes of being more professional before the moment and then winding down to relaxed again -- it's laughing and goofing and being silly until maybe a few seconds prior to the real thing is done fully serious and an immediate return to goofs the second it's clear everyone's okay and nothing has gone wrong. Joking asides to camera one second, the thing they're there to film next second, confirming Adam's alright second 3, back to joking and laughing by the time 5 total seconds have passed.
@@blackbearnh Hell Yeah Brother! I like your comparison! Hey Adam, my son’s (9 years old) first myth is “can you open your eye while sneezing”. And the slap is probably the favorite one. I’m finishing my work now and rush back home to show him this! You are part of our core memories! Thank you for those wonderful moments between father and son!
You have to respect Gavin's professionalism. I mean the fact that he was able to receive a compliment from Adam like being one of his favorite UA-camrs without squealing with glee is really impressive.
There is something truly magical about having two grown man giggle like little schoolgirls, as they embark on something so incredibly silly yet satisfying, and probably also giggling in star struck but mutual respect and awe and friendship to each other as the realization sinks in what they are about to do to each other, and yes I think Adam is very conscious of the mental agony Gav has to go through to slap him, as proven by the immediate and heartfelt hug right after. And that was just the emotional magic. The high detail perfectly set and lighted and all that end result is absolutely magical to watch, take in, and makes you wonder at details like how momentum and energy is passed on from the hand and seems to magically send water drops flying off at an incredible rate. And you see something else to wonder about or just enjoy every time you watch it again. Absolute magic. Thanks for having so much fun together.
I've said it once I'll say it again, best. Crossovers. Ever. Seeing both these channels work together is so amazing to see on so many levels, the slowmo guys Chanel filled the void that was the scientific curiosity that Mythbusters provided while it was on the air, so now seeing Adam work with the slowmo guys makes me so happy
Only someone like Adam could enjoy being slapped twice and make it as fun to watch as this. Being able to laugh at yourself and enjoy being silly is something we all need to try and remember in life! Loved this video!
There is something just nostalgic about seeing Adam Savage be slapped in the face in slow motion. Reminds me of the slap some sense into you episode they did on MythBusters
Adam's face during the entire pinball discussion is why I love that man, just the sheer and clear awe of him realizing these things is so honest that it's just so endearing.

Genuinely, I think Adam is one of the few exceptions to _"Never Meet Your Heroes"._ You definitely want to meet this hero! 🥰 _edit: haha So this _*_one time,_*_ I managed to get the watching process wrong and should've watched Gav's first! Usually Adam's (Tested's) video lays the groundwork, sets the stage, and does the test/execution; Gav's then is the filming and footage review... NOT HERE!_ 🥴 _His vid immediately starts out saying exactly what my comment does... (and also perfectly set this vid up by mentioning the iconic MB's slap)_ 🤦♂️😅
Gavin is so cool, and so fun to be around, im such a huge fan, ive seen him in hundreds of hours of content between Slow Mo and Rooster Teeth. I hope you work with him again soon.
This is crazy because I know how much Adam means to these creators and watching them get to work with him brings me joy because I would be over the moon as well.
It makes so much sense now that Game of Shadows looks like that. Props to the work Gavin did; that's probably the most memorable slow-mo motion tracking shots I've seen yet.
The slap of a century! Watching you two get into it with the movies and cameras was fantastic nothing like the love someone has for a thing and getting into that thing! A two hour podcast is needed just the two of you sitting podcast form talking for two hours about props movies and more!! It was an honor to see you slapped Adam! Just saw the link to the 36 minute pod! I’ll listen to that!
I love the passion of Adam's guests, you can tell how much time and love is dedicated to their craft. So much incredible information to share. I would love to see some of the high speed camera footage paired with an ultra-sonic microphone to slow audio with the picture!
Adam, this looks fantastic! It's always a pleasure to look at the work with someone as fun as you. Everyone has a great time on set, and your enthusiasm during stunts is truly commendable. You've been a childhood hero of mine, inspiring my curiosity about how things work-or why they sometimes don't. Your ability to make complex concepts accessible is remarkable, and I appreciate the joy you bring to the creative process.

Imagine being Gavin here. ‘You’re one of the first people I saw do slow mo’ … and now he’s slapping Adam in the face, as the slow mo expert! Mad! Couldn’t be happier for Gav and Dan
I can't get enough of these and I'm so happy for Gav since he's told us how much an inspiration Mythbusters was...
Genuinely, I think Adam is one of the few exceptions to _"Never Meet Your Heroes"._ You definitely want to meet this hero! 🥰
_edit: haha So this _*_one time,_*_ I managed to get the watching process wrong and should've watched Gav's first! Usually Adam's (Tested's) video lays the groundwork, sets the stage, and does the test/execution; Gav's then is the filming and footage review... NOT HERE!_ 🥴
_His vid immediately starts out saying exactly what my comment does... (and also perfectly set this vid up by mentioning the iconic MB's slap)_ 🤦♂️😅
AND to be interviewed *_BY_* his hero... just heartwarming to me. 😊
Gavin is so cool, and so fun to be around, im such a huge fan, ive seen him in hundreds of hours of content between Slow Mo and Rooster Teeth. I hope you work with him again soon.
Hope to see more of this. Would love to see what Adam would choose to see in slowmo on a regular basis to learn along side both of you
I love how you hard core nerd out about this in the beginning!!
11:27 12 years ago, MIT managed 1 trillion frames per second and caught a photon of light travelling through a Coke bottle filled with water.
I look forward to Adam and Gav's Slo-Mo Adventures! (Don't forget about Dan!)
We love Dan!
@@tested My wife and I named our son after Gavin but we also love Dan too :)
good to see Adam thoroughly enjoying himself. Gavin is such a champion too. love it
Adam's upper lip creating a reverse sin wave is classic
I love the passion of Adam's guests, you can tell how much time and love is dedicated to their craft. So much incredible information to share. I would love to see some of the high speed camera footage paired with an ultra-sonic microphone to slow audio with the picture!
The waveform in your lips folowing Slap2...
LOLZ!
How could you slap Adam?
Who do you think you are?
Jamie Hyneman? 😂
😂😂
Two of my favorite creators! Thank you Adam & Gavin for the great talk and fun
i don't remember Gav hugging Dan after he slapped him ;)
one thing is to slap your coworker because it's necessary for the making of the video... another thing is to slap your idol.
Thats the foto that go's on your gravestone!! 18:22
😂
This combo is such a treat, Adam is class.
18:15 skip to this for an amazing sight
Two of my favorite people on the same video, thank you so much, Adam and Gavin. Please, can we have more, collaborations.
The raspberry slap shot was one of the greatest clips I've ever seen. Thank you both!
Such a fun, wholesome video! I really needed that. Great dynamic, you two.
Most wholesome content I've seen in a long time. Thanks ya legends.
This is Gav in his absolute element! Love to see him get nerdy and enthusiastic about his amazing speciality.
Love Adam's content and love slo-mo videos. Excellent work gents!
