Haven't seen a missed field goal this heart-breaking since the one by the Saints that made the announcer scream the initials of the city that they're from.
I was staying with friends in Spain when this happened. I was trying to explain to them how frustrating this was. They were like, "If this guy is so bad at kicking, why not get someone else to do it?" And I'm like, "No, they can't, he's the only one. He has exactly one job, and it's to kick the ball far and accurately. It's the only thing he does and he's the only one who can do it!" "But what about that other guy? He kicks it too." "That's the punter! Totally different job! He can't kick field goals!" "Neither can your other kicker though." "I know!!"
I mean he was no Greg Zeurlein that year but Parkey went like 3 of 4 in that playoff game and was the majority of the bears points. Always felt like the dude caught the blame for a teamwide issue.
How people that are into "futbol"/"football"/soccer often forget about that American Football is a completely different, and highly specialized, game, despite common ancestry (being Rugby Union). Only thing in common between American Football and "futbol"/"football"/soccer is the total number of players on the field at the beginning of a game/match (11 per side).

I am the hiring manager for our Mascot talent over at the Seattle Kraken and I have to say I would fire this mascot. Mascots have to be the ultimate beacon of positivity in a stadium during a moment like this. Anyone in my position would have the clear expectations that if the kick didn't go in the mascot should run to the kicker, give him a hug and tell him "you'll get it next time". Then after that I would expect the mascot to run to the head coach and yell "LET'S GO!" and follow it up by running up and down the stairs of the stadium at a full sprint for the remainder of the game.
@13:33 Big props to Massie, big number 70, for being there for his kicker when that happened. Despite the frustration and disappointment I’m sure he felt, his first instinct was still to console his bud. Makes this a little less awful.
Agreed. I'm an Eagles fan and I felt for Parkey after this. I remember being glad he had his teammates. He put up 9 of their 15 pts and the whole city seemed to turn on him.
If I remember correctly, he actually made a field goal immediately before when Philly called timeout. And I remember thinking that he'd definitely miss the next one because he made that one.
You know what's crazy? The day after this happened I thought to myself: "Man, if they don't rebound in the next few seasons, we'll see a rewind video of the missed field goal in a few years." Low and behold, here we are.
I was actually covering this game as a photographer. I'm sitting underneath the goal posts, one of two in a tan vest to the left of the referee at 13:27. To this day, that sound is still ringing in my ears, and as a lifelong Bears fan, it will forever haunt me that I will show up every time this is replayed.
One thing unmentioned, that really shouldn’t be forgotten, Parkey’s social media was full of him kick training by aiming at large single wooden pole for “accuracy”. It was inevitable that his kicking would lead to countless doinks. That’s visualization at it’s best.
That's dumb. He's not aiming for the crossbar. He's aiming down the middle. And the ball was tipped anyway. The four doink game was a freak thing that could never be replicated
The one thing about this moment I don't see mentioned much is that this went down in the books as a blocked kick. An Eagle just barely got a couple fingers on it, causing that weird spin.
Same thing with that "drop" that ended the Patriots Ravens AFC Championship game 10 years ago when it was clear the New England defender got his hand in there to cause an incompletion.
I was at this game with my dad. I will never forget the absolute silence that came over soldier field. After the kick bounced off the post I vividly remember the small section of eagles fans cheering on the opposite side of the stadium. Could hear them loud and clear. Wild game
What truly made this moment so painful for Bears fans was that it perfectly encapsulated the experience of following this franchise for the last quarter century. If my toddler grows up and asks me about my favorite football team, I'll just show this clip and tell him to go find another team to cheer for.
Hey man I’m a die hard lions fan. Always will be. Stick in there. When I have children I’m gonna make sure they’re die hard lions fans too! Call CPS on me idc 😂
I went to this game with my dad. It was an early birthday gift from my parents. We sat about halfway up the top level, even with the goal posts that Cody hit. Something that got left out (albeit not very important but memorable for me) is that he kicked the 43 yarder two times, the first he made but got iced. The stadium was too loud for me to hear the bang, I just saw the ball not pass the uprights. We watched it the broadcast call over and over on the train home trying to understand what we had just seen. Looking back on it now, I am so happy we went to that game. It is the most memorable sporting event I’ve ever been to. I didn’t think you’d be able to capture it all in less than 15 minutes, but you did a great job.
I was there too! It It was actually on my birthday and my first ever NFL playoff game. I sat on the opposite side of the field and thought he made it on the second kick. Heartbreaking
Yep I was there too. The thing I remember most is the few seconds of almost complete silence after the kick. It was as if everyone was simultaneously in shock for a short period of time. And then everyone sort of snapped out of it and that was when the drunks started to make some noise lol.
I remember watching this game live, the defending champs Eagles were back from the dead and under another run with St Nick while the Bears had a stellar defense and were the dark horse to win the superbowl, back on Naggy was considered a great coach and Trubisky not yet a bust. The game itself was a classic defensively playoff hard fought game, Foles worked his magic at the very end on a clutch TD but the Bears fans (who made the game have a great atmosphere) could not imagine what would happen next (Vikings fans could relate though lol). In the end, the biggest winner was the Pepsi Ice the kicker ad who became the meme of the season.
can't wait to dive into the analytics and see how many Chicago viewers we have based on the dislikes. will try and remember to update this with an honest tally after 24 hours **update** ok Chicago y'all know by being midwest nice it only makes me feel more guilty. we're sitting at 301 dislikes (so 96.3% approval rating, solid) so appreciate y'all's support. much love - Will
As a Bears and Chicago sports fan in general, this is one of those moments in my life that I know exactly where I was and who I was with when it happened. Will never forget and it still feels like yesterday to me.
Man, this 2018 team could’ve been perfect. I hope Jon or someone else at Secret Base covers just how weirdly good this team was. Instead everyone just remembers this team for this play… don’t be a Bears fan, it’ll just make life worse
Kilo, man I agree. This team had flashes of 2006, sans the Windy City flier. It is disappointing to see how that ended, and as a life long Bears fan, it def adds to the PTSD.
As an Eagles fan, I remember feeling like if icing the kicker would work on anyone, it'd be our old friend Parkey, especially after the season he had. Although, to be fair, it may not have been all his fault since it was ever so slightly tipped at the line. I just remember freaking out almost as much as I did when Brandon Graham strip sacked Brady in the SB the year before.
Watch Parkey’s first kick, it’s right down the pipe, but doesn’t count b/c Doug cracked open a cold one / called TO (Thanks Coach P!) Now watch the first few frames of kick no.2 before Treyvon Hester gets a fingertip on it. I think Hester saved the day, otherwise kick no.2 would be good.
It was more the response to the outcome. Their offense couldn't score more than a TD in a playoff game versus a wounded secondary and their defense couldn't close out a win when they needed it, but the Bears' brass fooled themselves into thinking they were a kicker away from being champions and spent the offseason holding a kicker circus rather than getting better in other areas.
@@kevinheisey4350 i mean they still went 12-4 that year and it felt this teams core was set for a few years. IF trubisky worked out and nagy wasnt garbage, i think this is a completely different situation
Love how you just say “Jay Cutler” instead of pointing out Cutler being injured in the NFC Championship Game. Cutler always got the short end of the stick
I remember sitting on my couch as a sophomore in high school so ready for the bears to win this game and win the whole dang thing that year. I was ready to believe in Trubisky and Nagy. I remember crying after this game. Now as a freshman in college I’m so glad Trubisky is gone and can’t wait for Nagy and Pace to follow! Geeze it’s interesting being a Bears fan.
I will always remember this kick. I work retail and was at work that day, but had the play-by-play on one of our computers. A customer came in and was watching the game on his phone when he came up to the register, and he let me watch the end with him. The only play that I actually watched from that game was the double doink. Afterwards he just looked at me, and was like “oof, sorry man”
Treyvon Hester got a tip of just one of his hotdog fingers on it, the Eagles won, a title defense called DOA more than once that year continued, and a hundred million memes were born…
I was thinking the same thing. Really annoying that people keep ignoring this, and very unfair to the kicker. People just want to have an easy scapegoat.
I went looking for this in the comments, and I think you're the only one that mentions it! What gives? I kept waiting for him to talk about it in the video...
I was in such a dark period of life when this game happened. All I really had to enjoy was the Bears being decent for the first time since the Cutler years. I was huffing nitrous in the living room of my shitty duplex in Wisconsin when Parkey doinked it. For some reason, that was a breaking point and I broke down and cried all day in what I can only assume was a mental snap. Man, that was a dark day.
Can’t believe this was 3 years ago, I remember this day like it was yesterday and even as a bears fan the pain of this field goal never went away even today I still think what could have happened if parkey made the kick, for me it could have changed how the nfl is today if parkey made the kick maybe the bears could have won the SB, we still could had have players that were in that roster today, Nagy would have still had his job and be considered a good coach and trubisky would have not been called a bust, the pain never went away it’s very depressing to think what could have happened and what we had that years, I remember watching this game it was chilly and cold in Chicago and you can still see a bit of snow and ice in the streets and I see many people wearing bears gear and jackets and hats outside and I remember that when we stopped that eagles on 4th down I was hyped and scared at the same time knowing that their season comes to the line on that play then they scored, they decided to go for 2 but thankfully are defense was a brick wall on 2 pointers just like it was all season and then I remember freaking out when trubisky made that pass to Arob knowing that we were really close to field goal range but also knowing we need to spike it so we did and then we knew we have a chance to win the game but then I remembered that our kicker was parkey and he had been doinking kicks all season and that this will be a roll of the dice and I remember celebrating when parkey made the kick and I celebrated so hard that I couldn’t hear the timeout and screaming “LETS GO TO NEW ORLEANS!!!” But then I said “why aren’t the bears celebrating” and then I realized that they had iced the kicker (icing was considered a smart strategy back then I think it still is) and I was scared again that my heart felt like it was gonna come out of my chest and turned the volume up on my tv and then when I saw the ball going to the left side of the upright and heard the doink I thought it was gonna bounce in but then it bounce to the center low part upright and I thought it still might have gone a bit in after it bounced off but then I saw the bears mascot on the left side and he fell down and I saw the refs signal no good and parkey lay down I new our great and promising season was coming to a end and I knew people and gonna flame parkey and the bears and bears fans like me on social media and I knew he was probably going to get cut so I turned of the TV and I didn’t talk to anyone that day after the game so I went to sleep cuz I was so upset I couldn’t find anything else to do and when I went to school the next day me and my friends (also bears fans) and bears fans in general where all so quite and by the look of our faces we were all upset and none of us wore are bears jerseys and sweaters and jackets and hats like we did all last week knowing we had a playoff game on Sunday and me and all bears fans weren’t even saying a word and my gym and athletics teacher and coach was doing his job but wasn’t really in a good mood as he was always so positive and energetic and you can tell by the look on his face and the way he talks he was upset like all bears fans, and he always kept a bears sticker on the board with the bears record and he erased the bears record and wrote “ great season is over” and after the class me and all bears fans asked him why was he so upset and he said “ you know what happened yesterday we shouldn’t talk about it” the rest of the week was depressing but I was a saints fan the rest of the playoffs since drew brees was one of my fav our QB’s until that no call But there is no way that this great season and everything of the 2018 bears was 3 years ago hopefully Justin fields does something spectacular with this team just like he did with Ohio state 🐻⬇️
I’m a Bears fan. I remember the pain and agony of this “moment in history” as our Super Bowl hopes were dashed at the drop of a hat. This video was published 15 hours ago as I needed to mentally compose myself to live through this again. 🐻⬇️
An iconic football moment that has yet to be rewound that would be an absolute banger is Marlin Jackson’s interception on Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game in 2006 that would send Peyton Manning to his first Super Bowl after years of failure all the while the QB for the other team had won 3 in the same stretch.
@@GenericUserNameHere I think you’re thinking of the 14 - 35 comeback in 2003, which while sounds impressive, it does not tell the whole story. The Colts scored 3 touchdowns in the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter against the defending super bowl champs, and then Peyton finished the deed in OT with another TD.
I'm a Vikings fan and I remember watching the game in a basement at a party, a little outside of Chicago and I was saying "imagine he hit the post again" and everyone was for sure he was going to make it, man I remember holding back my laughter it was so hard 🤣🤣
Earlier in the season, the day before my birthday, when he hit the upright 4 times in the same game, I said "Watch we'll actually make the playoffs this year and this dude is gunna ruin it for us".
This was such a crazy game as an eagles fan. That last bears drive crushed all my hopes with every play… and when he lined up to kick the game winning field goal, I was defeated… and then… all of a sudden… well… you saw it… lol it was amazing
I remember watching this game with my dad, neither of us were fans of either of the teams playing but when this kick missed he started laughing the most hearty laugh I've ever heard from him
"Chicago worked their way into a descent". 2012: 10-6 record that gets a team into the playoffs 90% of the time and somehow got lovie smith fired. I hate that i love this team.
They put Lovie in such a position of high expectations only because he made it to the Super Bowl. They expected him to make it back and win but given the loss to the Packers in 2010 of course they would fire him
@@FilmPassionprod He deserved to be fired for that postseason. Two tries to knock out Rodgers, failed both times, and Rodgers has never been back. There's a world where Rodgers has 0 titles right now, and we don't live in it because of Lovie Smith and Jay Cutler.
As an Eagles fan, this is one of my favorite Rewinder episodes to date. It should also be known as the game that broke Matt Nagy. He spent the entire off season (and some of training camp) looking for a new kicker.
as a bears fan i almost cried watching this. truly heartbreaking to the highest order because of the past few seasons that preceded it and the next few seasons that followed.
As a Bears fan I remember watching this season so excited. Our first possibly real franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman in the 40s and a 12-4 record PLUS a losing record packers made me so excited and totally thought we were gonnna win the superbowl. I remember exactly where I was when I watched this and I just remember turning off the TV completely silent and going up to my room and going to bed without a word. Still to this day the most painful sports moment I have ever watched and it still hurts to be reminded of it
This was so instantly iconic that I literally remember exactly where I was and what I was doing that very moment, and I'm not a Bears fan or Eagles fan
Without that defense getting all those turnovers and khalil mack's last truly all pro season... that team would've been sub .500 and Nagy would've been fired last year or the year before. That's all the rewind you really need on that one.
I remember this moment. My dad and I were watching on the sofa and knew this was going to be THE moment of the game. We both knew the doinks were real that season and had watched Cory make the exact kick moments before because the Eagles called a last second time out. We heard it and simultaneously cried out ‘No!’ Which had never been something we’d done before or since.
Ahh, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at a small party in friends basement. Everyone sat watching the television, holding thier breath as Cody Parkey lined up kick. We all thought the season was over, but simultaneously all wished for a miracle. It was so quiet you could hear a pun drop. Then the kick, then the time out. We all sigh at once and get ready for the real thing. This was it. The final nail in the coffin to the Eagles post suoer bowl season. The kick goes up and... Bounces twice and then out of the uprights. We all yelled so loud when that happened. Then they played the highlight reel of Parkeys missed kicks that season and we all laughed. That game was pretty boring in all honesty, but the end made all of it so worth it. Then the Eagles failed to show up in the second half against the saints the next week and got sent home. Ah, good times.
i will never get over seeing that priceless face of Nagy's, i watched that live and was laughing so hard because of how much of a Bears moment that was 🤣🤣
This Bears team deserves a Collapse video after this too. They looked like one of the best up-and-coming teams in the league, this happened, and BAM, absolutely nothing.
The Bears entire history since the 40s has been one "great" year followed by a "collapse". It's hard to pick just one when they're all basically the same, and 2018 looked more like an outlier than something that had been building for some years.
I do not envy the job of NFL kicker. You could be the most consistent, automatic, prolific G.O.A.T. kicker, and you'll still only ever be remembered for the one time you missed and lost a playoff game
This was definitely Philadelphias revenge considering what happened at The Fog Bowl. This definitely goes down as a top 10-15 moment of all time in eagles sports history. #gobirds
I also saw this on a cruise ship that went to the Bahamas. My dad, brother, and I were absolutely crushed and I remember this guy who had bet money on the Eagles was all smiles and cheering. I hate that man to this day.
And then you remember what happened a week later in New Orleans 😂but for real the eagles are still relevant, my bears are not. Good luck for the playoffs
@@robBears96 I'm an eagles fan living in Chicago and I joke with my one friend how our teams both disappoint us year in and year out yet somehow the eagles make the playoffs and the bears never do. Don't worry bears fans losing in the first round every year gets kind of old anyway.
I have never had one of my favorite teams be the subject of a rewind. As a bears fan this one hurt so much. Originally I thought the kick went in and was going nuts only to see the replay and the ball bounce out
As a Chicago born Eagles fan living Schaumburg (suburb of chicago), I remember being at a bar my friend worked at and watching the game there, decked out in eagles gear among a sea of bears fans. Honestly I thought were gonna lose and then when he hit the upright and it fell to the cross bar, I couldn't believe my eyes. I laughed in amazement because I thought to myself "there's no way he missed that. No way." I was stoked but also terrified. I felt everyone's eyes on me and I thought for sure someone would stab me on my way to my car.
I'm normally a loud fan, even when watching from home. But I was just speechless after this. Especially when we all jokingly said that Parkey was going to end the season on hitting the upright
What a freaking ripper. I couldn't believe it when it happened. That kick just killed me. Thanks for bringing up this moment again. Jeez But you did a great job on this video.
AS an eagles' fan I remeber that game vividly it was so intense and I was so nervous hugging a pillow while my friends were already teasing me that the eagles' had lost. When the double doink happen I just jumped from the sofa and couldn't believe it! It was another St Nick miracle! The week after wasnt that great with Jeffereys drop/int against the saints
I was watching live with my mom. When they called a time-out I explained what "icing the kicker" meant. Then, in front of my astounded eyes, I received a perfect example of what could happen. Bless Doug Pederson, gone too soon....
Trayvon Hester was officially credited with a blocked kick - adding this to this excellent video would have made it even better. The one criticism is that in 2018 the team in Washington was still the called the Redskins, not the Football Team.
Love to see them show that Cohen highlight. Sad he is still going through an injury but as a buddy of his in Highschool I know he can bounce back if he can get healthy
I am a bears fan, and this was so rough, he practically missed every kick each year and for this to happen it was heartbreaking. And obviously this ruined our future to as we are 6-10 in 2021-22
Pretty much everyone involved in this game's career ended on this day. The Eagles lost the following week, and both teams have been average to garbage ever since. Nagy finally getting canned on January 10th will finally put an end to this chapter.
this is the one game in eagles history, aside from the super bowl win, that I wish I could watch and experience again. the elation mixed with feeling so upset for Parkey was surreal
I remember watching Parkey against I think it was the Lions, and Parkey missed like 3 kicks and I remember telling my dad he was gonna miss it, and he did
As an eagles fan, obviously I was overjoyed at the win in such an unexpected playoff run. But I was happy to see the bears win the north that year and I wish our win hadn’t come at their expense. Hope to see them back in the playoffs sometime soon
As an Eagles fan, the double doink was the only time in my 30+ years as a fan I've ever felt that my team winning a championship was inevitable. Not even at any point during the 2004 season, with McNabb and Owens wreaking havoc on opposing defenses, did I feel this way. But this was different. We had just made an improbable run to the title the previous year, and the script was playing out exactly the same way, though with a tougher playoff schedule this time around. Wentz was hurt (again) and Foles stepped in to help secure the playoff spot (again). This was going to happen. The Bears made the mistake of giving the Eagles a shot and they paid the price. The rest of the league was next. Foles throwing that interception in New Orleans turned out to be beginning of the end, but the night of the double doink I thought, for the first time, that we would never lose again.
Man you missed out then. I believed in 2004 and 2017 twice. I lost faith after Wentz went down then jist was hoping to make it to the next game every time. Then the day of the Superbowl some just felt special. Even more special than 2004. Only the 2008 Phillies could match it in my lifetime.
Believed with all my heart in 2017 - knew that entire year something was different. I told my wife we were watching magic happen. I felt the same way in 2018 after winning the Bears game - plus Cre’von picking off Drew Brees to literally start that NFC title game. Definitely felt like we were going to repeat for sure.
Foles was special in big games. Normally when Eagles are driving to win the game I expect them to blow it, but with Foles I expected him to score a TD.
It’s funny, I felt that way about the Seahawks after the Jermaine Kearse miracle butt catch. It seemed so fitting that Tom Brady would lose a third super bowl on a ridiculous catch…
@@lambaseded4845 Those Seahawks teams are a great example! The wildest stuff would happen, like the last few minutes against the Packers in the NFCCG or the Wild Card the year after when the Vikings missed a 27 yard field goal in the waning seconds. I never saw a team win in so many crazy ways.
After mostly being a garbage team for 30 years and counting, Bears fans are numb to such things like this. There are some who even don't hate Rodgers, which makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.
For anyone mentioning the tip, keep this in mind - as Chris Kluwe pointed out at the time, the tip did nothing to alter the trajectory of the kick. It still had the distance, and it went in the exact direction Parkey kicked it. What changed, between the first and second kick, was the positioning of Parkey's hips - because his hips were not square to the posts for the second kick, it veered off course. He simply didn't get the job done, and the Bears lost the game as a result. P.S. Ultimately the loss is Nagy's fault, as the Bears' seasons after 2018 amply demonstrate; but still, the missed field goal is on Cody.
I sure hope he makes this field goal

One thing unmentioned, that really shouldn’t be forgotten, Parkey’s social media was full of him kick training by aiming at large single wooden pole for “accuracy”. It was inevitable that his kicking would lead to countless doinks. That’s visualization at it’s best.
damn Secret Base should’ve brought you on for this episode lol
As Pat McAfee always says “some guys aim for the bars. I just say freakin’ kick it down the middle you weirdos”
Reminds me of The Waterboy.
That’s really bizarre
That's dumb. He's not aiming for the crossbar. He's aiming down the middle. And the ball was tipped anyway. The four doink game was a freak thing that could never be replicated
The one thing about this moment I don't see mentioned much is that this went down in the books as a blocked kick. An Eagle just barely got a couple fingers on it, causing that weird spin.
Yes, it should be mentioned in the video
It's so frustrating that they don't mention it. It's basically the only reaaon he missed it
It was treyvon hester
Same thing with that "drop" that ended the Patriots Ravens AFC Championship game 10 years ago when it was clear the New England defender got his hand in there to cause an incompletion.
@@dco2006 yeah, he literally punches the ball out of the receiver's hands
I was at this game with my dad. I will never forget the absolute silence that came over soldier field. After the kick bounced off the post I vividly remember the small section of eagles fans cheering on the opposite side of the stadium. Could hear them loud and clear. Wild game

What truly made this moment so painful for Bears fans was that it perfectly encapsulated the experience of following this franchise for the last quarter century. If my toddler grows up and asks me about my favorite football team, I'll just show this clip and tell him to go find another team to cheer for.

The ball was also slightly tipped.
Yep I was there too. The thing I remember most is the few seconds of almost complete silence after the kick. It was as if everyone was simultaneously in shock for a short period of time. And then everyone sort of snapped out of it and that was when the drunks started to make some noise lol.
@@evankaiafas6219 Sounds about right. I wasn’t there, but that makes sense. I was dancing in my living room.
Also to be fair to Cody, it got blocked, well tipped, by the DT. As an Eagles fan it was amazing but I did feel bad for him
I remember watching this game live, the defending champs Eagles were back from the dead and under another run with St Nick while the Bears had a stellar defense and were the dark horse to win the superbowl, back on Naggy was considered a great coach and Trubisky not yet a bust.

I really think had the bears beat the eagles they could have made a Super bowl run
Too late! Lol.
But seriously, at least I have my memories...
Kilo, man I agree. This team had flashes of 2006, sans the Windy City flier. It is disappointing to see how that ended, and as a life long Bears fan, it def adds to the PTSD.
Oh hey Kilo

Nick Foles in an Eagles uniform was just legendary.
People always forget that it was slightly tipped.
@@denimchicken104 Always will be a Philly legend. It’s sucks that he’s on the Bears now, on the damn bench!
This kick changed the entire Bears franchise as a whole. They went from Superbowl contenders to back in the same situation as 2017
It was more the response to the outcome.

As a Bears fan, I just want to say that the visuals were off par since I couldn’t see through the tears. Other than, that great video!
YO SAME OMG LOLOLOL
The game that broke Matt Nagy's brain.
I've NEVER seen anyone dedicate THAT much effort into looking for a new kicker
Nagy hasn’t been the same since and he’s gonna loose is job bc of it
It’s genuinely fascinating how this kick broke the Bears for years (and counting)
I will always remember this kick. I work retail and was at work that day, but had the play-by-play on one of our computers. A customer came in and was watching the game on his phone when he came up to the register, and he let me watch the end with him. The only play that I actually watched from that game was the double doink. Afterwards he just looked at me, and was like “oof, sorry man”
The mascot falling down in agony NEVER gets less funny
One thing people overlook is that ball was tipped, a testament to how nasty and deep that d line the eagles had in the late 2010s
Yeah literally no one talks about this
It's actually officially listed as a blocked field goal.

I was in such a dark period of life when this game happened. All I really had to enjoy was the Bears being decent for the first time since the Cutler years. I was huffing nitrous in the living room of my shitty duplex in Wisconsin when Parkey doinked it. Can’t believe this was 3 years ago, I remember this day like it was yesterday and even as a bears fan the pain of this field goal never went away even today I still think what could have happened if parkey made the kick, for me it could have changed how the nfl is today if parkey made the kick maybe the bears could have won the SB, we still could had have players that were in that roster today, Nagy would have still had his job and be considered a good coach and trubisky would have not been called a bust, the pain never went away it’s very depressing to think what could have happened and what we had that years,
I remember watching this game it was chilly and cold in Chicago and you can still see a bit of snow and ice in the streets and I see many people wearing bears gear and jackets and hats outside and I remember that when we stopped that eagles on 4th down I was hyped and scared at the same time knowing that their season comes to the line on that play then they scored, they decided to go for 2 but thankfully are defense was a brick wall on 2 pointers just like it was all season and then I remember freaking out when trubisky made that pass to Arob knowing that we were really close to field goal range but also knowing we need to spike it so we did and then we knew we have a chance to win the game but then I remembered that our kicker was parkey and he had been doinking kicks all season and that this will be a roll of the dice and I remember celebrating when parkey made the kick and I celebrated so hard that I couldn’t hear the timeout and screaming “LETS GO TO NEW ORLEANS!!!” But then I said “why aren’t the bears celebrating” and then I realized that they had iced the kicker (icing was considered a smart strategy back then I think it still is) and I was scared again that my heart felt like it was gonna come out of my chest and turned the volume up on my tv and then when I saw the ball going to the left side of the upright and heard the doink I thought it was gonna bounce in but then it bounce to the center low part upright and I thought it still might have gone a bit in after it bounced off but then I saw the bears mascot on the left side and he fell down and I saw the refs signal no good and parkey lay down I new our great and promising season was coming to a end and I knew people and gonna flame parkey and the bears and bears fans like me on social media and I knew he was probably going to get cut so I turned of the TV and I didn’t talk to anyone that day after the game so I went to sleep cuz I was so upset I couldn’t find anything else to do and when I went to school the next day me and my friends (also bears fans) and bears fans in general where all so quite and by the look of our faces we were all upset and none of us wore are bears jerseys and sweaters and jackets and hats like we did all last week knowing we had a playoff game on Sunday and me and all bears fans weren’t even saying a word and my gym and athletics teacher and coach was doing his job but wasn’t really in a good mood as he was always so positive and energetic and you can tell by the look on his face and the way he talks he was upset like all bears fans, and he always kept a bears sticker on the board with the bears record and he erased the bears record and wrote “ great season is over” and after the class me and all bears fans asked him why was he so upset and he said “ you know what happened yesterday we shouldn’t talk about it” the rest of the week was depressing but I was a saints fan the rest of the playoffs since drew brees was one of my fav our QB’s until that no call

Agreed, that would be an excellent episode.
Didn’t the Colts also come back from a 21-3 deficit?
@@GenericUserNameHere I think you’re thinking of the 14 - 35 comeback in 2003, which while sounds impressive, it does not tell the whole story. The Colts scored 3 touchdowns in the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter against the defending super bowl champs, and then Peyton finished the deed in OT with another TD.
This game feels so recent. It felt like this happened only a single year ago.

They put Lovie in such a position of high expectations only because he made it to the Super Bowl. They expected him to make it back and win but given the loss to the Packers in 2010 of course they would fire him

I bet. As an Eagles fan, it hurt that we lost the next week.
I remember this moment. My dad and I were watching on the sofa and knew this was going to be THE moment of the game.

This Bears team deserves a Collapse video after this too. They looked like one of the best up-and-coming teams in the league, this happened, and BAM, absolutely nothing.
Nagy couldn't develop QBs. :(
The Bears entire history since the 40s has been one "great" year followed by a "collapse". It's hard to pick just one when they're all basically the same, and 2018 looked more like an outlier than something that had been building for some years.

You forgot to mention that an eagle defender got a hand in the final kick.
Trayvon Hester was officially credited with a blocked kick - adding this to this excellent video would have made it even better. The one criticism is that in 2018 the team in Washington was still the called the Redskins, not the Football Team.
I will never not laugh at Nagys reaction after the kick 😂
Love to see them show that Cohen highlight. Sad he is still going through an injury but as a buddy of his in Highschool I know he can bounce back if he can get healthy
I am a bears fan, and this was so rough, he practically missed every kick each year and for this to happen it was heartbreaking. And obviously this ruined our future to as we are 6-10 in 2021-22
Pretty much everyone involved in this game's career ended on this day. The Eagles lost the following week, and both teams have been average to garbage ever since. Nagy finally getting canned on January 10th will finally put an end to this chapter.

As an eagles fan, I remember the game this happened still. It was incredible to watch and was all anyone talked about in my area the next day
What’s even more incredible, to me anyways, is the consistency he doinked in his time in Cleveland afterwards.
this is the one game in eagles history, aside from the super bowl win, that I wish I could watch and experience again. the elation mixed with feeling so upset for Parkey was surreal
Parkey's career deserved to end for this turkey, but sadly it somehow didn't.

I remember watching Parkey against I think it was the Lions, and Parkey missed like 3 kicks and I remember telling my dad he was gonna miss it, and he did
Bears fan here thanks for reminding me of the double doink def needed that
As an eagles fan, obviously I was overjoyed at the win in such an unexpected playoff run. But I was happy to see the bears win the north that year and I wish our win hadn’t come at their expense. Hope to see them back in the playoffs sometime soon
double doink was my first bears playoff game ever… awful memory
Man I still remember falling to my knees in disappointment this day..
Left out Pederson icing the kicker (while his first attempt sailing through the middle).
The Bear's mascot's reaction to the kick was perfect.
Man... I'm a Panthers Fan and this hurts me, imagine to the Bears fans...
It was bad... let's just leave it at that 😥
After mostly being a garbage team for 30 years and counting, Bears fans are numb to such things like this. There are some who even don't hate Rodgers, which makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.
I feel like the fact that the first kick was iced and that the second kick was blocked shouldn't have gone unmentioned.
People tend to forget that.
stop making excuses for him. "blocked" isn't the way I'd put. Doubt it even changed the path of the ball
@@austindzik4702 considering how close it was even the tiniest change in the path would have been the difference maker
The fact that this isn’t about Wrestlemania 9 is upsetting.
