It was actually Offensive Coordinator Bob Gibson that called the infamous "Miracle at the Meadowlands" play. Not only was he fired the day after the game, but the stigma of the play was so great that he never worked in any level of football ever again. Gibson never even talked about the play before his 2015 death, telling ESPN In a 2008 phone interview that he hadn't discussed the play in 30 years and he wasn't about to start now.

I recently watched a video where they said that back then it was uncouth to kneel down to run out the clock at the end of games, which is why he called a run play. So dumb.

Also this play resulted in the creation of the Victory formation by the eagles since after winning like that they realized how important it was to make sure they didn't become the next team to lose like the giants.

@@happyclampopper it doesn’t make it not embarrassing, but idk if it can be the most embarrassing of all time if it looked like the team was actually trying (yes, the broncos defense was terrible, but the offense actually had some decent drives, and it could have realisticaly been a lot less lopsided if they didn’t come up empty

Hey, another 30 point comeback was gonna happen sooner or later, couldn't have set it up better if I wrote a script for that game *and* the season leading up to it. And I'm a Bears fan. But goddamn did I feel it coming when the Colts got cold. That Colts team right now has a ridiculous ability to confuse everybody in every way possible just for a bit of chaos, sorta like that one Chargers season where they missed the playoffs despite a league leading offense and defense.
And it was the EXACT SAME QUARTERBACK on the losing end of both games. You can't write this shit up.
Funny what happened to us a few games after that (packers 😤)
Watched every second of it too lol. My buddy is a Colts fan, I messaged him at halftime and said "what are your Colts doing to the Vikings right now??"

As a die hard Falcons fan on the west coast. I’ve never felt so many people sorry for me in a room after 28-3.
There’s a video out there that did the math, but if the falcons did literally nothing but kneel and punt, they’d have needed 1 first down for a guaranteed win, or to have forced one turnover/defensive stop.
Falcons are my favorite team. I cried during the touchdown by patriots in superbowl 51 to end the game.
Not to mention they blew a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter

Early in the 1940 NFL championship, Redskins QB Sammy Baugh threw a pass deep down the sideline to a wide open receiver which should have been a sure touchdown. The reciever just straight up dropped the pass. After the game, a reporter asked Slingin' Sammy if he thought the game would have been different if the receiver had made the play. He replied, "Yeah, it would have been different. It would have been 73-7."

Also, that game caused teams to switch to the “T” formation from the single-and-double wing formations.
After the game, a reporter asked George Halas if the Bears had played a perfect game. Halas replied "No. I think we could have scored another touchdown."

One memory that sticks vividly in my mind is that Seahawks goal line interception. I was 13. Super Bowl party in my moms friends house everyone’s spirits were high.

Reminds me of the miraculous Saints play that ended in an insane touchdown after all of those laterals, only to miss the PAT and lose the game.

Chiefs V Colts 2013-14 playoffs. As a chiefs fan, this was so heartbreaking and humiliating. We lost so many players to injuries and the defense forgot there were 2 quarters left after the half. We gave up some of the luckiest plays I've ever seen in a game.
Alex Smith was one of the unluckiest QBs in history. The way they lost that game, the loss to Tennessee (where his counterpart scored on a TD pass to himself), all the OCs in San Francisco, the timing of his injury there, his injury in Washington nearly killing him...jeez.
The Colts always seemed to be the Chiefs Kryptonite during the playoffs. I've watched some painful Chiefs losses in the postseason. 1995 is the one I remember most. 13-3, number 1 defense and a pretty good offense. In fairness, that was a brutally brutally cold day and neither offense was doing any thing of note. What pained me that year was when Len Elliott missed 3 chip shot field goals. People in Kansas City never did forgive him of that and ran him out of town and the league.
As a chargers fan. I admit that game was beautiful.
That was a bad one, at least nobody really talks about it as much as the others.

I would like to nominate "The Capitol Collapse" of 2016 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the (then) Washington Redskins. Buccaneers totally collapsed in the 2nd half after leading 24-7, ending up with the famous Kirk Cousins "YOU LIKE THAT?" line. That game effectively ended Lovie Smith's tenure in Tampa.

I think the Colts loss against the Saints back on SNF in 2011 (62-7) deserves to be on here, because it was on primetime national television for the whole world to see. Plus, it was 34-7 at halftime.

You can't really count that one because that was the Peyton Manning injury season. They weren't doing much against anybody.

Miami owns the most humiliating loss this year. They threw their franchise QB on the field 3 days after a concussion just so they could try to maintain an early-season undefeated streak. Instead, they let Tua get a second concussion inside of a few days, possibly ruined his career, and lost the game anyway. I can't think of much more humiliating than that.
Tua wanted to play, he's on his way out.... if he doesn't perform this year, he's gone
@@commiehunter733 what the player wants and what is best for the player sometimes do not align. Of course he wanted to play. Sidney Crosby wanted to play after 2 concussions back to back and ended up being held out for almost 18 months. Cumulative concussions are nothing to mess with

The first ever Cardinals game I watched was the 58-0 blowout against rookie Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

As a Browns fan, about twenty games immediately popped into my head when I read the title. And that's only because I can't remember the other hundred or so because one can only endure so much trauma.
Especially the first 2 years after they came back. Totally non-competitive most weeks.

I really think the Falcons 28-3 is the most humiliating loss ever. Just because of the stage it was on and how the franchise has cratered and continued to blow leads in the years after. Falconing is a recognized meme now.

My brother and I saw that Buffalo vs Houston game live on tv. That was a crazy and exciting game. We were rooting for the Oilers, because as Raiders fans, we hated the Bills because they were so good. The fans helped by never giving up cheering for their Bills that day. Good memory. I think that Texans-Chiefs playoff game a few years ago is one of them. To go up 21 points in the first quarter and have everyone get hype for an upset/stomp then proceeding to get absolutely BLASTED in the last 3 quarters alone by giving up 51 points is outright embarrassing
To go from 24-0 to 28-24 within a single quarter, to getting blown out by 20 by the end, never seen a game flip so drastically. I’m a Cowboys fan but I sympathized with Houston fans on that day.

It’s because the game was staged to keep interest in what could have been a huge upset.
is that the year the chiefs' won the superbowl? that was quite a season. if i remember right the chiefs performed a comeback in all their postseason games that year. i guess the only thing missing in this video is conseciutive comeback wins by a team in post season. the chiefs just might hold that record.

I'm a Jaguars fan and while this loss doesn't ever get talked about losing to one team 3 times in one season is one of the worst feelings but you know what's even worse than that? Going 14-2, winning the division and being the number one seed in the conference only to lose the Tennessee Titans twice in the regular season and a third time in the playoffs! We beat every other team that year but the Titans blew us out the last two times and ruined a promising Super Bowl run 😭
Before the Texans were a team, I was a diehard Jaguars fan. LOVED them. And that millennium team is still my favorite in the history of the franchise.
To this day, I maintain that the Music City Miracle was a forward pass, lol.

And to think that the Titans got there thanks to Wade Phillips (then head coach of the Buffalo Bills) not using his better QB against the Titans, and even then, they needed the Music City Miracle to win. I knew that whoever won that game would beat Indianapolis in the Divisional Round so I had expected either team to face the Jaguars in the conference Championship (because no way Miami would beat Jacksonville). In fact, once in the playoffs, the only two teams I gave a chance of beating Jacksonville that year were the Bills and the Titans (I was almost certain about the Titans, while I gave the Bills some chances but with the Jaguars having the advantage). I didn't think any of the NFC teams would be able to top the Jaguars, not even the Rams.

I was at that 52 Rams - 0 Raiders game. As a Raiders fan, flying halfway across the country, it hurt 😭
My brother was on vacation in Southern Cal and decided to take in a Rams game while he was there. They were playing the Packers, and at halftime the score was 44-7, He was a neutral observer, so had no stake in the game, but told me it "sucked" because, basically, both teams stopped playing after halftime and ran out the clock. The Rams didn't want to rub it in, and the Packers didn't want to give them any reason to start playing hard again, so they took it easy too.
Man they stomped the shit outta of us, I couldn't imagine being at the game
For the record, a kneeldown wasn't an accepted play until 1985 (this was also when a QB slide rule was established), so you can't fault the Giants for that specifically, just for a *really* bad time to fumble (teams would run out the clock by doing a sneak or dive, as a "QB fall down" play was considered poor sportsmanship).

By the way, did you hear the rest of the story? In case not: Larry Csonka was supposed to take the handoff, but in the huddle said that he refused to because it was such a stupid play. Now you understand why poor Pisarcik was left handing off to the air.
The trouble with that is that Pisarcik did fall down on the previous play. If you're going to do it on the next-to-last play, why not do it on the last play?

As a Titan fan I remember that game vividly and my next day at work was hilarious. A coworker called my phone pretending to be a cop investigating a murder and if I could answer some questions. #1 suspect were the NE Patriots. Wouldn't let go of the loss we took against the Rams in the 2000 superbowl either. Had the nickname "1 yard shorty" for a few days after. LOL! Those guys made football season even more fun at my old job. Miss that. ... J
Week 15, 2022 has given us two new contenders... The Colts losing to the Vikings thanks to Patriots Superbowl MVP Matt Ryan outdoing himself by allowing the biggest comeback in NFL history, and the Patriots losing to the Raiders because there was apparently an in-game trade before the last play that allowed for Jacobi Meyers to throw a perfect pass to Chandler Jones for a 48yd game-winning TD

As a bills fan, the Miami loss was nowhere near humiliating. Close game, we had a lot of injuries, etc. The 2000s and early/mid 2010s. THAT was humiliating

It’s incredible how people overlook the fact that Miami got dominated by an injury riddled team, on the road on short rest facing impossible weather conditions….not to mention medical malpractice on top of it. I had Kerry Collins as my starting QB in fantasy for the 59-0 game because everyone I had before got injured. It didn't go so well.
I had Ryan Leaf, yes, Ryan Leaf on my team in the infamous KC game... Funny part: I also had Cunningham that very same season. Once he came from the bench to replace injured Brad Johnson my season was saved. Now that is a rollercoaster by epic proportions.... Needless to say the Leaf game was one of the most embarassing QB losses ever. He never recovered from that performance.

That game was worse than non QB Kendall Hinton did as a Corinna-19 replacement passer... Leaf had all the tools, but this game broke his neck. I still believe. Not his off the field issues. It must have felt like getting the yips, something psychological happened like with Manning in playoff games that are not decided early.

As a Titans fan the season before we was the 1 seed and lost in the Divisional round against the Ravens thanks to an Algie Crumpler fumble, i was like okay we be fine next year, then after this game i was like 💀
Atleast you got to see Chris Johnson break the single season yards from scrimmage record and won offensive player of the year that year.

And then we win 7 of the next 8 I think. All because of CJ2K but I've accepted that the Titans are mediocre. Until we adapt to the spread offense, we won't come close to another super bowl. 2,000 yards is awesome but I'll trade both of those seasons for a ring.

The (So Called) Terrible Towel Curse. Clinched the #1 Seed beating Pittsburgh then Keith Bullock, LenDale White, and other plays stomped the towel blew their noses with it and all. After that game we lost 8 Straight games (including playoffs and a week 17 game which meant nothing). I'm surprised we started 0-6 in 2009 to finishing 8-8 almost making it to the playoffs. Sadly every time I think of our Oilers throwbacks this game is the 1st thing that pops up in my mind
So amazingly proud that the Giants game was here. My dad told me about it and I actually had a very hard time believing him, because it just sounded so ridiculous. Now, he told me when I was just a kid in the 90s, before UA-cam...but later, I remembered the game, found the footage online, and was blown away!

As a lions fan I would imagine whatever team loses to the lions to give them that one win they usually get each season must be pretty embarrassing.
Seriously. We make the Browns look like a competent franchise.
Most honest to god embarrassing loss for me as a jets fan is the loss to Miami in 2019, which ended the miami imperfect season and saw darnold mess up a snap. That game truly epitomized what they had become over the past decade. It’s not a game that feels embarrassing as a total blowout, but one that breaks total morality for a team
I would say losing to the 91 Colts would be even worse; they blew that game and the Colts were legendarily bad that year. Like next level shit.

Man, I'm Australian and NFL isn't my go to sport but a few UA-camrs have really got me into NCAAF and the NFL through their content. Your video of the craziest college football season (2007) is one of my favourite videos on here. I go back and watch it once a month probably.

2022 is pretty insane too. Since Tennessee and Mississippi are looking legit for the first team in decades. My team Florida isn’t doing good right now and we play the defending National champions and longtime rival Georgia. The game is played on a neutral site in Jacksonville, Florida.

Given the stakes of the game one of the most humiliating losses has to be Denver’s lost the Seahawks in the Super Bowl Peyton Manning who was setting records that season and to statistically have the greatest offense of all time to get destroyed by the LOB was definitely humiliating and probably Peyton’s worse lost in his career
Oh yeah... Nervous playoff Peyton at its best. The usual mega collapse in the playoffs. This was the low point at that time (his last season was even worse). Guy couldnt score 18+ points in 11 (!) season ending games. With a rule backed offense that scored 30+ in most of those seasons. Guy melted under pressure like ice in the sunshine. Embarassing.

First the Pats somehow blow a 21-3 lead in the real super bowl (because the winner got to go against Rex Grossman), then he gets benched for Brock Osweiler, yes, Brock Osweiler, only to come back just in time to ride his defense’s coattails to victory. Amazing QB, no doubt, but his legacy looks a lot different if things hadn’t aligned perfectly the way they did in 2006 and 2015, and that 2013 loss would look a lot more humiliating in hindsight.

Other than the wide open Wayne TD pass there was no MVP level in that shitty SB... And the DEN 2015 SB run? Absolutely agree. Never seen such shitty play by a winning SB-QB. By far the worst ever. It needed an all time D to win it all. With a real QB they should have beaten CAR 46-10 like the 85 Bears did with a efficient passing offense and all time D... Real observers know that PM was the RS-GOAT, but got nervous in the playoffs when things got tough. A failure. Plain and simple. Not worth the worshipping when you cant excel in all situations.

As a New York Football Giants fan, the Joe Pisarcik handoff fumble will always be the most haunting and embarrassing play in NFL history. I still think about that play on every handoff the Giants make, TO THIS VERY DAY!!!

That Broncos lost to the 49ers hurt my soul...Denver was my AFC team and the Niners and Skins were 2 NFC teams I followed, when the Skins beat us I stopped following them, I remember hitting my TV during that 49ers game and my dad coming into my room cussing me out.

I was at that Giants/Eagles game with my Dad. It was the dirst NFL game I was ever at, and we had seats around the 20 yard line, so we had a perfect view of that fumble/touchdown. I think my Dad almost started to cry. I was a Jets fan, so it was no big deal to me.😂

Week 14 of the 2018 nfl season. The dolphins, down 33-28 to the patriots, make a last ditch effort to win. Tannehill throws it on the 20, pass made by Kenny Stills. He runs for a little bit, then throws it back to D’vante Parker, then he throws it back the Kenyane Drake. Now he’s running around the field trying to get somewhere, and then Rob Gronkowski misses the tackle. Miami makes a touchdown with 0’s on the clock, we won 34-33 when ALL the odds were against us.
The Patriots losing Super Bowl 42 to the Giants after going undefeated in the regular season with a monster roster has gotta rank up there as one of the most humiliating losses in my opinion. Still sticks in my craw all these years later
At this point I have nothing but respect for Eli and that Giants team. Their D Line dominated and played like champions. Strahan ended his career with that upset. It sucks that it happened to a hometown hero turned legend on the losing end but its still an historic moment and two historic teams. I would still trade the last three for 19-0 though. I know Bill and Brady would too.

7:50 Fun Fact-I saw this game live. Flew from NJ to St. Louis to see this game. Lomax threw 3 TD passes(2 to JT Smith, 1 to Robert Awalt) and Niko Noga returned a fumble for a score all in the 4th quarter. To this day it's the largest 4th quarter comeback in NFL history.
