Awful. They feel awful. It's so hard to find US sunscreens that feel nice and don't leave me looking like a grease ball (and I have dry skin!). I don't wear makeup so I'm probably not used to the feeling of having things on my face. I also with the US had some kind of rating for UVA protection, like the boots stars system or the Asian pa+ system. It sucks not knowing how much uva protection I'm getting from my sunscreen, which is arguably more important than the uvb.
Take any kind of skin barrier balm, like diaper rash cream, and put that on your face. Voila! You know now what most US sunscreens feel like.
So far what I love the best is the Cerave daily moisturizing lotion spf 30, but it won't work for me in the summer where I need an spf 50 because I burn easily. I have no idea what I'm going to use! 🥵

I know. I can't bring myself to wear sunscreen inside, for that reason. And I always wash, as soon as I get home in the evening. Can't imagine, having 'stuff on my face' any longer then necessary. I can feel both sunscreen and makeup (which I rarely wear) on my skin constantly. Can't bear having an oily scalp, either. And I have a similar issue with tight clothing. It must be some kind of tactile hypersensitivity.
Funnily enough though...my holy grail sunscreen outside of summer is an American one.
The Cetaphil PRO Redness Control tinted moisturizer spf 30.
It's a tinted mineral sunscreen, that applies very smoothly, evens out skin tone and doesn't feel or look gross.
I mean, I don't love wearing it ...but I don't hate it as much as most other sunscreens. I do need to find an alternative with a higher spf for summer, though.
Another one I can recommend, if you can tolerate chemical sunscreens, is the Nivea Super Water Gel spf50. I order that one via Amazon from Japan...and even with shipping, it's quite affordable.
And it's really a gel. Not oily at all.
I can't wear it on my face, though. It makes my skin a little itchy over time and stings my eyes, if I sweat. But it's nice for the neck and chest and so on, because it doesn't feel sticky or leaves marks on clothes.

Just an FYI~ I was able to order the Avene Intense online for around $31 (shipping included). It took two weeks to get here but was well worth it! It has ZERO smell which is exactly what I wanted. I hate that sunscreen smell. It's a little shiny when it goes on but seems to soak in as the times goes by. It also did not bother my eyes at all which is a plus. This is actually a sunscreen that I will use on my face on a regular basis so it was worth the cost and time. I will order it again.

What I'd give to not be sensitive to chemical sunscreens, niacinamide, aluminums, fragrance, and coconut oils.... Grrr to eczema!!! Currently using cetaphil sheer mineral and then follow-up with cetaphil mineral tinted for my face, neck, and ears. Blue lizard sensitive for body, but aluminum can be quite irritating in the winter when it is dry. I swear by sunscreen but struggle to find one that doesn't torture my eczema or acne.....

I’m not sure if you’ve already posted on this topic, but I would LOVE a post of sun protection for people with sensory issues. I can’t STAND the texture/smell of 99% of the products on the market. Even most hypoallergenic, chemical free, mineral ones bother me. It’s hard to explain but the feeling of it on my skin drives me crazy.

Thanks for the heads up on the Sun Bum lip sunscreen. I love Vanicream for hiking, most of all because it keeps my lips from drying out at high altitude in Colorado. I have eczema and problems with both irritant and allergic contact dermatitis. Last summer, it took me five tries to find a drug store brand that worked for me. I landed upon Coppertone Sport Mineral 50. It's not too thick and I use the body version on my face, too, if I'm doing outdoor sports or won't be around ppl during the day. I also have the face version, which is twice as expensive, so I save it for days when I have meetings, etc.

The marketing for dry skin/oily skin is a nice guide but I do find its not always a steadfast rule. My skin is oily but I prefer the sunscreens for dry skin. And I do find Zinc Oxide so drying! I recently tried the Black Girl Sunscreen Make it Hybrid and was amazed it was actually moisturizing but being fragrance free was a huge lie. There is lavender essential oil and the scent is SO STRONG it gave me a headache. I wish they would do a true scent free formulation because it wasn't half bad. I'm now trying that Eucerin spf you are currently loving and I'm enjoying it as well! I find it slightly sticky but it doesn't run into my eyes at all because of that haha!

My favourite sunscreen is a Japanese one: the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel. I get the big 140g bottle and it last forever. It’s a liquid, slightly gel texture that comes out white but sinks into the skin in seconds with no cast. I have oily skin and it’s great, it does have alcohol in it though so beware of that.

I have so much issues with LRP's sunscreens that I just stop trying. It leaves a really uncomfortable film on the skin and I feel really greasy even with the formula that is liquidy and for oily and combination skin. I think you've talked about it before and I cannot find the other formula at the stores. This Shaka fluid...i've tested some of its samples...but I haven't made the plunge all these years as they aren't cheap, too, and I have wasted a lot of money on their sunscreens already and I just don't dare to try it again. Altruist is very very moisturizing and definitely on the shiny side and yet, on my skin, it is still comfortable. That film....I wish L'Oreal would just reformulate their sunscreens.

My favorite sunscreen lip balm is the Salt and Stone SPF 30 Sunscreen Lip Balm (their other lip balms have mint and lack SPF). It is zinc and shea butter based, and has no fragrance or flavor. It gives a similar look and feel to the vanicream, but it has ingredients I'm more comfortable getting in my mouth and ingesting (which happens with anything we put on our lips). I think you would really like it Dr Dray.

I like the Cetaphil PRO Redness Control tinted moisturizer, spf 30.
At least for outside summer, when I feel I can get away with a lower spf.
I'm from Europe, actually, but I have a hard time finding a sunscreen, that doesn't burn my skin, sting my eyes, feels heavy and cloying or looks too oily even here.
So funnily enough, I found my holy grail in this American made mineral sunscreen.
It applies very smoothly, wears without discomfort and looks only minimaly 'dewy'.
And while it's not cheap, it's not as ridiculously expensive as other 'nice' facial sunscreens, either.
      Wish, they made a version that's spf50.

I use Australian Gold Botanical 50 on my t zone. Unless your skin is very dry, you may enjoy it. It is pretty easy to find the light (which is rather light) the medium is too dark and I need to mix them. It can even act as a primer. I first picked up at Walgreens and reordered off Amazon.
