  • The very start of Fallout Tactics a decleration of war on Vietnam can be heard.
Note I am not interested in a canon debate. So please don't bother.

Strange we never declared war on Vietnam in fact that's one reason why it's controversial

Obviously an old comment, but the US wouldn't declare war on Vietnam as generally since the 2nd World War we've generally tried to present ourselves as liberators, not conquerers and colonizers. Fallouts US however evidently doesn't care about that stigma (their perfectly fine anexing and oppresing canada, a NATO allie no less).
Honestly it kinda makes sense the Fallout US would make Vietnam a territory or something, fully exploting it's rescources and people

Fuck what what Bethesda says is canon at this point. Ugly ass power armor keeps being added. At this point I'm only considering what's previously been published as canon and everything in 76 isn't.

Did the U.S. somehow win the Vietnam War in the Fallout universe? Otherwise, how do you explain the 1950s schtick remaining the dominant aesthetic in the US for the next century and a half - instead of the countercultural, hippy vibes that won out in the end due, in part, to failures in Vietnam.

the U. S. went through other cultural changes in between the time of the 1950s and 2077. so many people have this wrongful misconception that Fallout's timeline stayed 100% stagnant, and that's not true.
