Even as a tool fan for over 20 years it took me 6 or 7 listens through to really appreciate the album. All Tool albums work that way. The album(CD version) is a masterpiece.
@@waynedome5469 Sometime a band can change a song for the better or add something unique to it. Johnny Cash - Hurt for example. I personally enjoy listening to Tool - No Quarter WAY more than the original. Give them both a listen and see for yourself if you don't think the same :)
Vin, appreciate your take on the Fear Inoculum album - figured this would be the song you would like most as it is the most metal of the bunch. The band had been 'maturing' for a long time, and an additional 13 years between albums added to that (Danny Carey is now 58 ! and Maynard no longer can scream like used to). Reflects in their sound and style, but to me this is still the best sounding album I've heard by anyone in a long time - Pneuma, this track & Descending are exceptional. Definitely need to be willing to put in the time with it, and of course, like anything, not for everyone. What I find interesting is that the Tool fans who are most critical of it are generally the ones who want the raw, heavier, angrier sound from the past - some AEnima, but even more so back to Undertow & Opiate. But on this channel, you haven't really done much from those (nothing from Opiate & only Sober / Undertow from that one if I'm correct) - perhaps you could dive in there & may find it more to be the Tool style of your liking (Bottom perhaps as a start ?)
Exactly! The people who are disappointed in this album tend to be younger metal fans who want the Tool of AEnima, with all it's youthful energy and angst. That Tool no longer exists - they have grown up. This is a more mature, more musically sophisticated Tool. This is the album where Adam, Danny and Justin get to come into their own as incredible musicians and creators. Past albums were more about Maynard's brilliantly creative and esoteric lyrics and his intense energy. This album is where his fellow bandmates really get to shine, with more heavy prog elements. As an older fan, I think this album is absolutely brilliant.
I think by saying Tempest, he is referring to his intemperance during his youth or younger self, that dominated his music and lyrics throughout the early days of Tool and APC ect. He's saying a 'Tempest' must be true to his nature, doubt isn't an option. I think he's grown a lot, 'think' he HAS grown a lot through the years spiritually and i believe what he's saying is he no longer has the same sort of view's he once held and is trying in some way to atone for the damage he feels he may have caused through the angered and drug/alcohol damaged years. But by being that 'Tempest' that raging storm of emotion he's attracted a different type of following almost cult like, who want to hear or see that same rage or anger, so in their eye's, a Tempest cannot doubt himself. He has to be just that. Or maybe it's not even rage or anger, maybe he's speaking to all of it. Maybe he's growing weary of doing the 'Tool' thing, or music in general. Invincible does talk about growing older and such, so maybe he's telling all of us that he no longer feels the way his previous self felt, i dunno i go back and forth with myself in my head with what i'm typing and as i'm typing so i could go on and on and on about different view's and opinions about the matter; however, i will end it here. Thank you to anyone who reads this lol.
This song has a lot from the Undertow-Ænima era. You should react to the Undertow album. Top tracks are Bottom and Swamp Song. Crawl Away is a gem too.

You guys have gone through so much Tool; I respect anyone's experience with any particular music but how do ya'll not feel this new album? It's the refined version of everything they've ever done. Not being a smartass or troll, just genuinely confused about how you can enjoy their catalog as much as you guys have and not appreciate this experience in that purview.
😂😂 you can tell where the predominant instrument or what instrument Vin is listening too is placed in the mix, by his eyes and head bob. It’s awesome guys. To see you both into it. Keep it up.
To me this is their best of the long songs out of It, third eye and Rosetta. Masterpiece. And Descending is the best on the album a top 5 song of theirs for me. Pneuma is greeat, FI, Invincible both also really good.
Such a great song that when I listen to it on full blast so does all of New Zealand 🇳🇿 so glad I got to hear it played live before all this COVID 19 shit hit the fan
When you make it back around to Sabbath, try Into The Void,Tony is tearing that guitar apart, one of the best Riff's in Metal, and of course Everyone else are on point, and lyrics!!!
Excellent song choice... Tricky deed, there, Vin. You started by stating you weren't going left, then took a 45 degree counterclockwise turn. Political man!!! Hehehe
I dont like comparing this album to other Tool albums. It is a great work of art, but it is totally different. I hated it on first listen! Tempest and Pneuma are one of my favorite Tool songs now. It is all about detail - Tempest sounds Rushy and King Crimsony as hell - the intro for example! How many subtle musical changes are there in the rhytms! Invincible is great too - it is a medieval song inspired by traditioonal European music - in those guitar riffs, there are flutes and strings. It is an adaptation of troubadour song in our times. So.... good for them, good that they are always changing and evolving, not playing the same music for decades. I hope the next album will be different and diffucult to adjust to as well. :)
This stranger would love to see you experience the cover of No Quarter - Tool. Originally from the legendary Led Zeppelin. Perhaps soon rather than later plz, thx, bye.🤘
Very interesting! Unlike you guys, 7empest was the song I struggled with the most on this album. I more quickly fell in love with basically all other tracks on the album. I wish I had more friends I could discuss these things with =) Thank you for a great vid! Love from Sweden
Tool has never sounded more like Rush than on this tune. Without sounding anything like them at all, the instrumentation, the guitar the drums the bass, all soloing at the same time yet blending together seamlessly, is a testament to their talent of time signatures, changing tempos and production values. Did I mention the lyrics? WHOA just WHOA.
Very good Reaction, the Kind of Content I subscribed for. :) (It was Rosetta Stoned tht I saw first on your -channel -- Instant-Subscribe.) And yes, I'd also give it a Thumbs up if the Rating had been lower. ;) In Terms of Audio, the funny Thing about The 7empest is that it sounds a Bit more like their first Records, before Ænima, but newer -- that is basically the more "metal" Aspect which you have noticed. When I first heard the Song, I immediately thought to myself "huh, is this about Trump??" -- though I thought the "Tempest" was also referring to the Person in the Song (i.e. supposedly Trump)... chaotic, wild, potentially destructive, and yet a Symbol of Power and Might, but it needs to be kept at Bay so that Tempest won't wreak Havoc... maybe like Trump on Twitter, or maybe like the Corona-Virus or other Kinds of Disasters, or maybe the Line is blurry. Anyway, good Reaction, Thumbs up! :)
FINALLY!! So happy that you did this song... but not happy that it turned into a political/history rant... I think the song had a different meaning IMO but with your reaction to Pneuma and this song I think you made up for your dissatisfied reaction to Invincible...musically this song is insane and an absolute masterpiece!!!
I love seeing Papa in the background...TOOL and Ghost are two very different bands that are two of my top 5 of all time. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! FUCKKKK HERE WE GO AGAIN
Alot of people are annoyed because Maynard never screamed on the album. The summer says they are out of thier old contract now and would like to make new songs. Maybe we can get some hard screams from Maynard one day if his lungs heal from covid. Side note, I don't think Maynard is talking about Trump. His lyrics usually have two or three meanings in some cases.

13:07 This is my favorite part. The song sounds like it's ducking and weaving, almost like a boxer.
This is the best song they’ve EVER done. Period. End of story. Pneuma is child’s play.
Jeffery Tucker 7empest, hands down the best song from Tool ever!
Keep it up.
A masterpiece of a song.
Chris B it’s okay... Don’t get me wrong it’s a great album but tool has so much better music from the past
To me this is their best of the long songs out of It, third eye and Rosetta. Masterpiece. And Descending is the best on the album a top 5 song of theirs for me. Pneuma is greeat, FI, Invincible both also really good.
This song was written before COVID 👍 But I love your takes.
Such a great song that when I listen to it on full blast so does all of New Zealand 🇳🇿 so glad I got to hear it played live before all this COVID 19 shit hit the fan
I actually was not expecting this!
Stank face on Vin on the get go. The Tool Army welcomes you.
Hope you guys are safe and in good spirits . Love the video
PS. Loving the deep talks to Tool playing in the background. Haha, lovely content.
From canada, Enjoy the 🍄 ride 🍄 that is TOOL sometime, 🤙
Damon I must have missed your live stuff.. but I will take this. Love u guy's..
Umm. I'm not Damon.. But whatever. I'm good.
Not a tool fan but I might be now that was awesome
When you make it back around to Sabbath, try Into The Void,Tony is tearing that guitar apart, one of the best Riff's in Metal, and of course Everyone else are on point, and lyrics!!!
Excellent song choice...
Tricky deed, there, Vin. You started by stating you weren't going left, then took a 45 degree counterclockwise turn. Political man!!!
Hehehe
I hope y’all choose to react to more A Perfect Circle.
Jake Cameron I hope not...
Tool's swansong and homage to their previous metal influences 😍
William Brookings homage is putting it lightly...the intro riff is nearly identical to King Crimson’s “Frame by Frame.”
Damn Sori looking HOT here!
Tool Fear Inoculum album of the year 2019
This stranger would love to see you experience the cover of No Quarter - Tool. Originally from the legendary Led Zeppelin.
Perhaps soon rather than later plz, thx, bye.🤘
I couldn't click any sooner on this one! 😲😎
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Moonspell - Night Eternal
Love Sori's lipstick, she looks great!
Very interesting! Unlike you guys, 7empest was the song I struggled with the most on this album. I more quickly fell in love with basically all other tracks on the album. I wish I had more friends I could discuss these things with =)
Thank you for a great vid! Love from Sweden
I'll be your Friend 👊💪

Tool has never sounded more like Rush than on this tune. Without sounding anything like them at all, the instrumentation, the guitar the drums the bass, all soloing at the same time yet blending together seamlessly, is a testament to their talent of time signatures, changing tempos and production values. Did I mention the lyrics? WHOA just WHOA.
Beautiful outro listen Tool army proud❤️
One of these times it would be great to hear you talk about the music more and not just the lyrics.
Are we ever going to get a live listen for Pink Floyd's The Wall? You guys said you'd do it about two years ago after doing Dark Side I believe.
FINALLY!! So happy that you did this song... but not happy that it turned into a political/history rant... I think the song had a different meaning IMO but with your reaction to Pneuma and this song I think you made up for your dissatisfied reaction to Invincible...musically this song is insane and an absolute masterpiece!!!
You could, I dunno, do a live watch of the DVD I sent you almost 2 years ago instead of doing a live listen LOL.
I love seeing Papa in the background...TOOL and Ghost are two very different bands that are two of my top 5 of all time. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! FUCKKKK HERE WE GO AGAIN
Yes!!!!!....FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! been waiting for this one for a while,
Sori looks 🔥 😍
"Sounds like Christmas music"
Adam Jones just taking you to the center of the Universe and back.
Descending is a good one in my opinion. Do a Descending reaction
Beard is looking good Vin!
Danny’s drums like an octopus
Vin your rant here was awesome!
Tool - Culling Voices
Kae Kazakas naa
Kae Kazakas Culling Voices sounds like APC.
My name is mud.... I would like them to do that one.... I know it won’t happen , oh well
Sori is looking cute. Thx for the tool
@Sebastian lol I don't know about all that. I'm sure her and vin are evenly matched.
Which is cool it makes relationships that much easier.
You can also remember he was accused of acts he did not commit and some people *ahem ahem* who played right into the hand of the lies.
@Dexy Chan at least they don't think it's about Maynard's mom.
@@nathanrodriguez914nr LOL
@@nathanrodriguez914nr hahaha
2 years later.... Still NOT my least favorite TOOL record, so that means it's just as great and masterful as they all are.
PANTERA ... More please and thank you 🙏 Message in Blood off of Cowboys from hell
Maynard is greta about writing things ahead of it’s time, Hush, aenima, 7emptest, etc etc. song was written way before COVID
How bout an album reaction to great southern trendkill by Pantera
Norman Tompkins good call... I second that !!!
Forur magical musicians 🔨
Nightwish, NOICE!
How on earth have you managed to not listen to this up to this point?
Alot of people are annoyed because Maynard never screamed on the album. The summer says they are out of thier old contract now and would like to make new songs.
Maybe we can get some hard screams from Maynard one day if his lungs heal from covid.
Side note, I don't think Maynard is talking about Trump. His lyrics usually have two or three meanings in some cases.
Should do a live listen of Cradle of Filth's album Damnation and a Day!
I don't trust anyone that doesn't close their eyes and go somewhere for a bit during that solo
Very clear King Crimson influence on this song in intro riff (that also shows back up at the end). Listen to "Discipline," and you'll see what I mean.
