I'm a 59-year-old dude. When I first sat down and listened to this in early Sept 2019 I knew about 4 minutes in that this would be special. At about 7 minutes in a strange thing happened: A tear came to my eye and I started blubbering like an eight-year-old, no screaming or anything... At 10 minutes it finally dawned on me what was happening! I thought of a Beatles fan carefully placing the brand new White Album on the turntable in the late 60's, or when I heard the first minute of Zepp's "Achilles Last Stand" in 1976. Whatever reason we are drawn to Metal or any type of music, my emotions were asking me "Is this it?", "Will this be the highest moment of my music listening life?", "Will there be ever be better than this?" "Is it impossible to get better than this?". I don't believe as humans we are ever prepared to not wish for more.

I believe it 💯. I can tell there’s so many sections of the material where they’re are just jamming/improvising. After being in group for decades you get together and no one talks to each other. someone will start a guitar lick a drum beat what have you and everyone joins in. They’ve developed such a binding chemistry they can all get in a room and start jamming without a word being said. You can tell they just hit record start jamming and the outcome eventually molds its way into another masterpiece. I’ve been in a few bands where the chemistry was so on point that’s exactly what we’d do and before we knew we had a bunch of promising material without a word said

This song takes months, even years to comprehend, and this is coming from a very seasoned Tool listener. This is NOT the song you play for someone you are introducing to Tool for the first time. Way too much to take in for an inexperienced Tool fan. This song is the ultimate Tool song. It's the final boss. You need to hear everything else they've ever written before even attempting this song. You need to hear it all multiple times as well. If I were to list the sequence of Tool songs to progress through for someone who is new to them, this would undoubtedly be the last song.

I listen to it daily and I always find new stuff I'm hearing.
This whole album is just killer, this track is just beyond words, you're right in saying it will take months to properly listen to it and it just keeps getting better.
Danny and Justin's back rythems just utterly compliment Adams 7 minute solo.
I love how Maynard just steps out when needed but comes on perfectly.

It’s incredible how they’re ALL 10/10 on musicianship(whereas most bands would kill to have one 10/10) and can full on Ham any moment but they rarely do, they all just do their part so beautifully to be a part of the whole which puts them above a 10/10. Even Maynard adds the lyrics last and keeps the volume low as to once again blend as another instrument and not take over being the vocal point. Danny comes the closest to being a Ham and well he’s otherworldly, so what can you say? Well I say 13 years it was worth the wait. Every minute of it and if this is your last album this is a great masterpiece to end your timeless discography. Thanks for all the impact on playing a large part of the soundtrack of my life. Don't know if you remember me saying it was pretty obvious why they left this for the last track on the album. Not only would it be hard to follow this up with one of the other songs, but some of Adam's riffs in 7empest were from before the Aenima album. They hadn't found a place to use them until now and this is an incredible blend of their early sound mixed with the more recent stuff. It would set an unrealistic expectation for what the rest of the album would be if they led off with this track.

One of the best TOOL songs forever to me...Adam guitar is sobbing
Heat lighting flash, but don't blink
    Misleading
    Tranquility ruse
    You're gonna happen again
    That's what I think
    Follow the evidence
Look it dead in the eye
    You are darkness
Trying to lull us in, before the havoc begins
Into a dubious state of serenity
Acting all surprised when you're caught in the lie
    We know better
    It's not unlike you
    It's not unlike you
    We know your nature
Blame it all on the bastards when you're blowing out
    Shame on you
    Shame on you, now
No amount of wind could to begin to cover up your petulant stench and demeanor
Calm as cookies and cream, so it seems
We're not buying your dubious state of serenity
Acting all surprised when you're caught in the lie
    We know better
    It's not unlike you
    It's not unlike you
    We know your nature
    Calm before the torrent…

this was definitely the Avengers: Endgame version of all the T00L reactions. Not sure if that reference will resonate with most of the viewers.

As a huge comic book fan, especially of marvel, dc, image etc, I can tell you, you’re on point. It really is the avengers end game of all Tool songs.

A major part(s) of it is 3 bars of 7 to make 21...repeating not sure how many measures....I was thinking about how it's about sorta starting over...anywho it takes approximately _three weeks_ to form/integrate a new habit. How could that not have been a consideration for the song?

I came across Tool via the side project A Perfect Circle and they have blown me away, outstanding and astounding. Have been into what I call thinking man’s progressive music and Tool ticks the box! I’m 71 and have seen/heard the development of innovative music from its beginnings in the 60’s and this is pinnacle stuff man! ❤️❤️❤️

I've never really listened to Tool before until today, and 7empest was the song. There's something almost supernatural about this musical composition! EPICNESS!!! 🤘
