- “Sometimes the old ways are the best…” Bond (Daniel Craig) has a close shave with Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) in SKYFALL (2012). Harris said: “I was nervous, it was one of my first days of shooting on the film. I had never used a cut-throat razor before so I practiced on balloons and graduated to members of the crew.”

Even with this scene, Bond and Moneypenny seem to treat each other as friends and colleagues first and foremost.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: While the sensuality in this scene is great, I more like how it shows character development for Bond in that he's more quickly able to trust someone after they caused him harm despite their intentions, as opposed to the more bitter and closed-off Bond we saw in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. It's a great example of character-building that I wish the Bond franchise had had more of before Daniel Craig came along.
I’d say for all its manic camp, Die Another Day does a lot of similar character arc work…
Maybe the proof of concept before the extended execution…
@@wasserperson Probably. The character development was sadly lost in the manic camp, in my opinion. Die Another Day was the movie where the original approach to making Bond films finally ran out of steam for good; Skyfall, even with its theme that "sometimes the old ways are best", ironically succeeded because it followed the modern style of filmmaking that the franchise first began utilizing in Casino Royale.

The eye contact, the way his voice drops a few octaves, their positioning, she teases him subtly and he follows her with his eyes towards the end, calling for her continued attention and acceptance. 🔥 very 🔥
I love this scene because it’s an ultimate sign of trust from Bond. Kind of like a dog exposing their belly. They had attraction, but also a deep friendship. Also, I think her biting wit reminds him of Vesper.
The best thing about craig series is his conversations and relation with Moneypenny . Its completely mutual and both being veterans respect each other like good friends .They both have casual healthy flirting with each other too. When Moneypenny asks for forgiveness for missing the shot , bond knows it was not intentional and by mistake and understands it .
I adore this new Moneypenney.

If you are the real Naomie Harris I take this opportunity to compliment you on your excellent performance as a Moneypenny character.
Of course the director should have given your character a better aim, but if you hadn't hit Bond I think we wouldn't have had a "skyfall" like the one we had.
This scene in particular was very well played by both actors but I never seen a more classy and subtly erotic Moneypenny on screen yet.

This is the sexiest scene I've ever witnessed in a film, I'm not even joking. The art of sensuality and leaving things to the imagination is so lost in today's world. I wish we had more stuff like this in the Brosnan/Craig films and less exploding gas canisters. It is scenes like this that really captures what Bond movies are all about.
The seduction scene played by Pierce Brosnan and Teri Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies was the absolute height of romantic Bond scenes: lighting, music, atmosphere, perfect.

Its never explicitly stated that they did, but there are a few instances where its its implied. Like in the scene after this one, Bond says something along the lines of "Its amazing what you can do with a pair of extra hands" suggesting that they did in fact did it.

I actually shave with a straight razor exclusively. This is one of maybe two or three films where I’ve seen it is used properly. Naomi Harris must have really cared about this role to learn to use one.
