I was extremely hyped when they announced Monica Bellucci would be in a Bond movie. Yet I was extremely disappointed when I saw how under-utilized she was.
I remember her from her role as gorgeous Malèna. When I saw her in Bond, I couldn't help whispering 'Finally!' in the theater. If anyone deserved a Bond girl role, it was her.

yeah that almost 20 year age gap didn't help to sell it. he played a redneck in lucky logan who hits on a younger woman ...even those two had better chemistry. he introduces himself as Bang, Joe Bang. explosive expert with high blood pressure.
I'm sure you know Brosnan championed her; he really wanted her to get the role, he thought there was no chemistry at all with Teri Hatcher. Brosnan called the producers "fools" after they had chosen the actress he didn't want to work with but was seen as the "It-Girl" at the time.
the best bond girl in TND would have been the one in Goldeneye. The story feels like they split up and then she married Carver. It would have been more impactful her death in the hotel room and also the main Bond girl in that movie is Michelle Yeoh, or at least after a fashion. It would have some continuity and really emotional stake for the viewers. BUt yeah, Monica Belluci is great in every movie and I applaud that finally Bond got with a woman older than him, not like the latest Roger Moor movies.

Sometimes the main reason to love the Daniel Craig Bond films is for the supporting cast and their performances. Monica Bellucci here is stunning and brilliant and beautiful.
Bond once again up to the task. As standards of form and style plus gender equality (the woman question) get upgraded and stricter Bond is not gonna fall short and lose his grip, looking out-dated. No! Bond delivers an absolute master piece here, in dialogue, cinematography, even acting even with its genre specific conventions and mannerism. .
The whole scene in Rome was so good, except for the car chase scene. But the atmosphere in this part of the movie was so mysterious and sinister. Lucia even looked more interesting than Madeleine. If only the film had followed this narrative line ...
Spectre is a mixed bag of a film. But the eerie, creepy atmosphere of the titular organization is fantastic. Blofeld's presence in this scene made my skin scrawl, if more of the movie had this thriller type vibe to it, it may have been much better.
Same, sadly it came really short later, from reveal onwards Blofeld was really badly handled, and they wasted Schulz's talent. He got a tiny bit better in No time to die, but the dialogue and general disposition of Blofeld is just really lame compared to how mysterious he was built up in the Rome scenes, they should've ditched 'author of all your pain' approach same as adoptive brother trope and kept him more mysterious and menacing, perhaps closer OHMSS Blofeld
We all have our favourite Bond. Sean Connery was a bit special and being the first set the standard. Roger Moore had that class about him and the underplayed humour. However, the way Ian Fleming wrote the part was with James Bond being a ruthless trained assassin and I think Daniel Craig just about nailed it.
Ian Fleming had in mind a privately schooled English gentleman, a diplomat that could kill if needed. His ideal actor for the role was David Niven. He was horrified when Connery was named, a body builder and model, too macho and lacking in the education of a diplomat....but he warmed to him during filming...(Dr No)...and eventually came to enjoy Connery's Bond. Literary Bond is never muscled but much more the quiet well educated connoisseur, multi linguist, and gentleman that has been given licence to assassinate when needed. Hollywood has moved Bond away from Fleming's creation to a muscled action hero that appeals to a mainly American modern stereotype.
