When a 76 year old woman can replace the changeover hose on her Dyson by watching a UA-cam video...well, that's an excellent, concise video. Thank you for this easy to follow instruction. I was successful on my first attempt.
Well done ma’am. Never underestimate a 76 year old woman !
It’s these kind of videos that makes you realise how good the internet is. Thank you for sharing.
Finally a good dyson repair video. You are very descriptive and all of your work is right in the picture and in focus. Your descriptions and commentary are spot on. This is a very good video!
Thank you!
I was told I wouldn’t be able to replace my changeover hose .But this video and the gentleman’s clear instructions made it easy for me to complete the task .So many thanks for your help.
Richard, Thank you for this concise and valuable video on how to replace an important wear item on Dyson vacuums. You saved us getting a new one. Works great. Keep up the good work; we all love being part of UA-cam University.
Thank you!
Best tutorial I have ever watched. I watch a lot of them, several a day! Thank you.
Do you repair vacuums for a living?
@@richardsvacuumcenter yes I do. 😊 I also fix phones and laptops. I do a lot of dyson referbs.
Very clear and concise explanation for this. Just got a Dyson Animal 2 second hand after a shark burnt up on me and watched a handful of the videos you have that cover servicing it, I feel like I’m an expert now, thanks for making these.
This was a great help Thank you. I watched hundreds of repair videos on youtube and this is the best by far. When people make a repair video this should be the template of how to do it!
Wow thanks!
Just wanted to show my appreciation for a really useful video. Simple but thorough. Just the right amount of information and no messing around or time wasted! Thanks
Was harder to find a supplier with this part than it was to follow your instructions. Thanks for such a good how-to video
I UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT! All thanks to this video!!!
Thank you for showing how to do this with your clear, concise video. My wife's brand new Dyson Ball Animal 3 (UP30) had it's change over hose split within 6 or 7 uses, rendering it useless. Dyson customer service could not even help us for some reason. I was able to purchase another change over hose from Amazon and fix the problem myself thanks to your video. The UP30 appears to have the exact same components as the model in your video so the process was straightforward.
Thanks for the video. This is exactly what I need to avoid spending too much time fixing mine!!!
Excellent clip, this was just what I was looking for. Clear, step by step instructions, with excellent level of detail, telling me everything I need to know and thoughtful information including what size tool to use, what size screws making it easy to put it back together.
Thank you thank you thank you! For under $20 I fixed my vacuum! In today's economy, I can't afford another Dyson, so being able to fix it has been a godsend! Thank you!
What a brilliant explanation and video. No flim flam straight to the point and really easy to follow. Thanks
Flim flam is a great term 😂 thanks for the comment!
Excellent video! No fuss and straight to the point. It really helped me change the COV. Working fine now because of your step=by-step tutorial with tips.
Great video, as someone who does all my own repairs this was the best for a Dyson hose change . I watch a number of video but this was the most helpful.
Amazing, that was actually an excellent and quick video. No messing around and no rushing.
Thank you !
Really helpful and well done! No small talk with unrelated topics! Nice! No one is interested in all the personality chatter when they click on a video to get the info for what they need! Thank you!
Thank you so much. Someone actually threw out their dyson and I recovered it. The top suction worked but the bottom did not. You video that explained about the change over hose was my solution to fixing it! Everything was fine but there was a tooth floss stick stuck inside where the hose changes over that was preventing the change over from top to bottom. I removed it and twala! I now have a $300 dollar vacuum for free! Once again, thank you!
thanks Richard, Fixed UP13, couldn't have done it without you! Nice camera sooth camera work. This is why youtube is great!
Just completed the hose replacement. Thanks heaps Richard. This was so helpful to this DIY wannabe. You're a champion. 👏👏👏
Thank you Sir. Had I not seen this video, I never would have attempted taking the ball apart. Both internal hoses were ripped on mine, and the red clip broke off years ago. I had the old one hanging on to the intersection with a screw. I'm in for $60 with the parts and the snap ring pliers and a couple of torque drivers. My sister told me to throw it away and get a new one. All fixed for $60, as good as new.
thank you for this video! for me through this diy repair from the replacement parts I got off Amazon! really detailed and thorough!
Thank you so much, was able to follow through and change to a new COV very simply! Back to excellent suction 👍
Many thanks for sharing your knowledge on this particularly in going through the entire process ie. putting back together. The ANIMAL is back! Also a big shout out to Dyson, it's both unusual and very pleasing in this 'throw away world' we live in that end users can purchase genuine parts both inexpensively and perform these maintenance tasks relatively easy. I've been an engineer for a long time (45+ years) and like to pay for quality but have to say when I purchased the DC41 and removed it from the packaging I thought whilst it was aesthetically awesome the wife would smash it to pieces in no time. Well I've been proved wrong the old girl is almost 9 years old and now back on her best form
good job. No pictures of yourself nor music. Perfect instructions. Well done!!
😁 I value anonymity
Richard thank you so much mate, your video this helped me as I was bit nervous to open the machine, now i can have confidence to replace it my self,
Cheers saved me $200 and a trip to my only service centre in my state! 133km each way. Dyson's lack of after sale service in Australia is sadly prohibitive.
This is exactly what I needed to see to repair my daughter and son-in-law's Dyson - many thanks!
Yw! Thanks for watching!
Great video, I started and was back vacuuming in a half hour.
Super helpful video. Saved me hundreds of dollars.
This video saved me tons of time. Great explanation of how to do it. Thank you for posting this.
Brilliant video Richard...thank you so much..it was easy once shown what to do..both hoses replaced works as it should now.
Thanks Richard, good advice. Managed to get my chageover hose replaced straight away.
Used this in 2022 to repair my Dyson. Thank you so much Sir!
Thank you, that is what needs to be changed on my dyson… very thorough instructions.
Hey Richard, great video which helped me change my cov hose. Thank you 👍
you just gave my dyson another 5 years of life probably, thanks.
Awesome video! I was able to change the part! Thank you so much!
Great, thanks for the video! It really helped me sort the same fault out, keep up the good work 👍🏻
Top man. Another really useful Dyson repair 👌😊
The DC 43 is the splitting image of the UP. Filters are the same. The only difference is the canister. One can even put a cinetic canister, an animal canister or even the Extra canister. The slight difference also comes in the canister tube which is interchangeable. The changeover is almost like a slinky. Great video
I replaced my DC41 changeover hose back in 2019 through many days of trial and error, I wish this video was around when I was changing this!
Thanks, superbly detailed video, easy to follow
Brilliant, I was going to throw hoover away but got new hose for £11 and followed instructions, now I have saved £279 quid on a new dyson excellent
Very good video. Very helpful and informative commentary. Thank you
I was told today Dyson Sydney Australia my Dc41 Animal is retired and they wont fix the hose parts not available . Fingers crossed i can source a hose and with your video fix it. Many Thanks (probably not from hubby) a grateful Aussie Nanna
Thank you very much. This is very good video with excellent explanation with clear sound.
Thanks from UK. Most helpful. Just waiting for new hose to arrive then off we go...
Great video! This is what UA-cam is for!! Thank you!
Finally a great explanation to fit the COV..many thanks
Thanks Richard. Excellent guide. Saved my Dyson from the bin 🚮.
Thank you so much. This video made the job easy
WONDERFUL!
THANK YOU so much. Really very helpful.
Awesome vacuum! I love it!
Really well explained, thank you.
Very interesting and helpful thank you
Super and clear video. Thank you so much.
Thank you, this worked a treat.
Excellent video!
Extremely well done!! Thank you!!!
Great vid , worked for me , easy job. only issue I had was I thought I lost a small screw but going by your vid the new hose holder only has one screw holding it in on one side. despite a small screw actually able to screw it in on the incorrect side. Was cheaper to buy the part from Britain and delivered than in Australia , Dyson Australia don't stock the part and tried to sell me a new discounted dyson vacuum cleaner because they said it was a safety issue buying replacement part not from Dyson or franchise.
Nice - £10 part - money saved
Thx! Great vid, saved me about £150, just £13 for the hose. 👍
Very helpful, thanks a lot!
😊 hello , waiting for the piece (Amazon) thanks for the videos , help me a lot 😅
Thanks for the video!
Great tutoral 👍
Thanks for the video. Fixed my DC65 for just the cost of the part.
Very concise, my dyson sucks again🤣
This was perfect... thank you
Thank you! Very much appreciated!
This is all very interesting, BUT I KNOW that disassembling my Dyson will heaven me with a thousand bits and no vacune cleaner😂😂😂
Awesome video thx
Thanks a bunch now im just waiting for my hose..
Thank you for the great tutorial! These models must be notorious for this issue, as the changeover hose on mine looked exactly the same as yours -maybe worse. Wondering why it's the case with the degradation of this particular section of hose and not the others? Anyway, thanks so much for the walk-through -you saved us all a lot of money!
The plastic is paper thin is why, makes you wonder why they don’t make it more robust.
Thank you fixed it no problems
Do you have a video or tips on changing the internal hose on the DC41. Loving your videos, helped me find the internal hose issue causing my suction problem.
Not yet. I will keep that one in mind and make sure to shoot it next time one comes in that needs that part.
good video thanks.
Thank you so much.
Thank you!!
brilliant, thankyou
Thankfully.
Thanks!
Thanks
Richard very helpful video what torx size is the security screwdriver
It isn’t security. But T8
There is a 2nd internal hose on the DC41. Trying to find a video of that and the part #. I'll be changing this one out too, especially if I have to dig this deep into the machine. Amazon has the hose in this video for $15 now.
Does the rubber part of the hose that sucks up against the dirt collection unit normally have a gap when not vacuuming? Yours in the video seems folded over and mine doesn’t connect fully with vacuum off
It should not have a gap. Sometimes the fold comes from the factory.
Thank you so much for this video it helps me with my exact vacuum however I'm having a hard time finding the correct part please if you could give me the part number you used that would be great.
922009-01
Thanks Richard - what is the part number ? Chip
In the description
What's the part called at 4:27? Mine broke. I am going to try to save this one, but in case I need to replace it, I'd need to know what the name of it is.
Not entirely sure, but I would call it the change over hose bracket or guide. LMK if you can't find it. I might have some in spare parts. richardsvacuummi@gmail.com
Is this the same for the D95 Animal? That hose cracked within a year of buying the vacuum from Costco, and Dysons website says my serial number doesn't exist. So I think I need to do this myself.
I’m not sure. I’ve never heard of DC95. If you meant DC65 then yes it’s the same part and procedure. 👍🏼
@@richardsvacuumcenter Sorry, I read it wrong and sideways. It's a D9S.
Question, will this same process work for my model UP19?
Yes but watch my video on the DC40 (up19 is a dc40 base with a newer version of the cleaner head). I’m actually going to be making a new one because that was one of my very first recordings and it wasn’t the greatest 😩
@@richardsvacuumcenter will do, thank you!
echoing comments here, saved one from the skip/dumpster and eventually land fill, long live 'Right to Repair'
Obrigada. Pena que não serve para montar o UP14. Se puder me ajudar com ele, agradeço imensamente!
I’ll be sure to make a video next time I have one of those models in needing this same part.
Hi, just replaced the same hose. But I have another problem, may be you know... There is a top valve on the container (like a little circle) and in the vertical mode it opens up, and obviously no suction in the hose. UPD, fixed! the main hose was clogged.
Yep that’s a clog. Glad you figured it out!
Hi. I've followed along the video and changed the hose but when I tested it, as shown at 9:17 on the video, the end of the hose starts to move into the second position but then clicks back to the original position. The suction stays on the wand and the vacuum head doesn't get any. Could anyone offer any advice please?
I would recommend removing it and re installing paying close attention to where each post installs into the hose (if you get them wrong it could effect the movement like what you're experiencing).
I did that but the new hose just doesn't work. I put the the old hose back in and it operates as it should - although its full of holes. I think that the spares company sent me a part that isn't suitable for my DC41. It's slightly longer and much stiffer than the original. Thanks for the great video.
I think the plastic gets brittle and all kinds of stuff breaks , i wish they used a better grade plastic . maybe im expecting too much .
Yeah 🤔
