    First off, thanks for this video. I am a 68 yo Grandma with 3 dogs, a cat & 2 parrots so a lot of fur & feathers, oh a hubby also. I’ve always done my own repairs, I think that’s why the hubby married me. We have a DC 65 animal & last year I replaced the Hose Assy, then a few months ago the Duct Hatch Assy. Last week it was the Change Over Valve Hose Assy not realizing until it was apart that I also needed the Internal Hose Assy. By the way that part has went up on Amazon to $34. Also replaced both filters for the 1st time. I just finished and I think if anything else goes wrong I will sell it. Thanks again for your time.

    Thank you so much! This helped tremendously! I am 65 and not afraid to fix things on my own if I can. Your instructions were clear. A bit fast at the end when putting everything back together. But I figured it out. I ended up replacing a filter I didn’t know I had. Thank you 😊

    Thanks for making this video. The same part failed on my UP13, and the hose ripped after 1 year of service. I ordered the part and was able to replace it in 30 minutes thanks to your great instruction!😃

    Terrific video and thank you for taking the time to make and share it. I am a lifelong DIY repair junkie and have always been able to put damn near everything I’ve taken apart back together again and fixed it to boot.
    That being said I am so freaking happy to have found this video. One big thing though, and I can’t believe you never even mentioned it in your outstanding piece: That little tiny tiny screw that is probably the very first thing that ANYONE needing this video probably removes and should never, ever lose. That little teeny tiny screw that secures the top edge of the “click” tab at the upper end of the hose assembly. That little teeny screw that is about the mass of a bb and does NOT , by the way, come with the replacement hose. You should really address this screw itself, at least mention it, and stress its importance. Without it, the hose will easily detach.

    • @darylturcott
      @darylturcott  6 місяців тому

      Sounds like very good advice. Honestly i am unaware of the screw.

    Thank you very much for posting this video. The repair cost me the price of the parts and the tools to do the job, all of which were much less than a repair shop and certainly less than buying a new vacuum. It took me about 30 minutes to complete given your great instructions (and I watched the video twice).

    Thank you very much for making this video. The part is up to $26 on Amazon, but way cheaper than having it repaired. I also replaced the change-over valve (hose) which was super easy since I had it disassembled for this repair already. It was about $22. An added benefit: since both hoses had small tears, it make a dreadful screeching sound that went away after the repair. Thank you again! I wouldn't have tackled this one without your video! (Mine is a DC41 Animal Complete)

    Thank you Sir. Had I not seen this video, I never would have attempted taking the ball apart. Both internal hoses were ripped on mine, and the red clip broke off years ago. I had the old one hanging on to the intersection with a screw. I'm in for $60 with the parts and the snap ring pliers and a couple of torque drivers. My sister told me to throw it away and get a new one. All fixed for $60, as good as new.

    • @darylturcott

      Those where snap on i bought off truck when i was a mechanic. You dont need to spend a lot on a decent tool though. Local tsc or harbor freight should have a reasonable option. Dont get any that have interchangeable tips though, none of them are very good. Here is a link if you are an amazon shopper.

      Took me about an hour to get the hose replaced on my DC65. The trickiest part is re-aligning the white gear on reassembly. I had the video play on the TV while performing the disassembly and re-assembly. I also labeled screws as I took them off to help on the reassembly. Overall, I highly recommend this step-by-step video for how to replace the hose assembly.
