    Thank you Sir. I was able to perform this fix tonight on our DC40. Changeover hose, 2 new filters and a good cleaning! The vacuum is currently working like it’s new again. You directions were great. I owe you a beverage.

      He's partly correct. The dyson supplier that us vac shops get our parts from is at the complete bottom of the supply chain for Dyson parts. Dyson stores, and internet retailers get first pick of the supply of parts which means us small guys have nothing to left to buy in regards to dyson parts. I have had to resort to buying these off amazon myself and just charging my customers a small convenience fee plus labor.

      Anytime you're working with small screws like the ones here, be careful how much torque (twisting force) you apply. With Phillips screws especially, make sure you have the correct size head, cuz those little guys will strip even easier. At least with torx, the chance of stripping is much lower.

  • @michaellambert7567

    Nice.. but, You should slowly, gently back-screw with slight pressure by hand ... searching for the original threads in the "plastic" supports... when your screw reaches the original thread, it will suddenly drop... at that moment you can screw it in, without starting a new, weaker set of threads in the plastic. especially when re-mounting the filter support assembly with those 4 screws you ran in with the motor driver... :-) (But then, it probably has a torque-limit adjustment)

    Hey, Very informative. Okay, I have the shredded change over valve hose out. I don’t have a manual. I’m not sure which replacement part is correct for my DC40 13 year old upright vacuum with purple cyclone. I see so many that look like mine, but when I read reviews sometimes they don’t fit. I’m not sure which one I should get. How do I determine correct size for mine? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peggy

    • @richardsvacuumcenter
      @richardsvacuumcenter Рік тому

      You’ll need to find out the exact model number first. Multi floor 2 isn’t the model number. There is a sticker on the vacuum behind the dirt cup and the model number will be to the left of the bar code and it will start with either the letters “DC” or “UP”

    At 2:00, you removed a retainer, but didn't show it to the camera before setting it aside. It appeared to be about twice the size of my retainer, which I think is broken. I bought a parts kit for the changeover, but the retainer is not included. What to do next? Look for more parts.

    • @richardsvacuumcenter
      @richardsvacuumcenter 8 місяців тому +1

      Can you be more specific. At the time stamp you included I merely removed the cyclone. I’m not sure what you’re asking.

    • @steverose2405
      @steverose2405 8 місяців тому

      You are taking the screw out of the hose retainer at 1:57 and holding the retainer at 1:59. My retainer looks different, but I determined that it is not broken. I put a new changeover mechanism around the hose that I purchased from Amazon; one of those hollow plastic shafts had broken. I have it back together; all is good. Thanks. I liked your video so well the time that I replaced the hose that I sent you a tip. @@richardsvacuumcenter
