Some local guy just sold me this vacuum for $50 and the suction was trash (completely deteriorated COV hose). Thank you for this video I was so scared to mess up the repair on my own.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I was able to fix the vacuum for $12 instead of buying a new one. Your tips on how to insert the hose were very helpful as well.
Thank you so much!! This was so helpful! Not for the faint of heart but completely doable. I saved my mother-in-law from needing to replace her vacuum. It works beautifully now.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Reached Exhaust Filter as well! Thank you for the detailed walk through and suggestions. Followed it to the tee to breathe new life into my vacuum cleaner. It had 3 holes in it which meant the suction power had really fallen in both modes.
Replaced the COV on my DC40. Your video was a great help. Your hint to look down the vac intake port to insure that the foam seal was properly inserted probably saved me a lot of work. There a good chance I would have missed that one. Thanks
Thanks! I couldn't have completed this project without your excellent video.
Richard. This a great and helpful video. My COV was badly damaged and needed to be replaced. Because your video has simple instructions I was able to replace the COV without any mishap. Cost of repair was £7 for the part and twenty minutes of my time. My Dyson 40 works as if it is new.
"Exhaust filter" :-) Thank you so much for so generously creating this video. I now know where to start. Fingers crossed I can pull it off.
Thank you! While cleaning a clog today the entire wire frame of this hose came out. I have my parts on order now and will fix it back up this week with the help of this video.
Exhaust filter. Just finished doing this job whilst playing and pausing your video which made the job easy, thanks very much indeed.
Thank you! I was thinking I was going to have to buy a new vacuum but I fixed it thanks to you!! Appreciate this video. Very helpful
Exhaust filter - thanks, fixed this throwaway Dyson with your help - retired guy, a 32$ hose and 9$ torx set - keep making these and thank you!
Thank you so much for your step by step help. We watched it to the end and if it wasn't with your help we couldn't have fixed it. Thanks.
Very good video took me about half an hour to replace the COV hose fix the hoover for £11 very helpful
Thanks! Video was so helpful😀
Saved myself buying a new dyson!!! Huge thank you such clear and short instructions. All works well now.
Thanks, the video helped me repair my Dyson and saved me a few quid.
Exhaust filter, Thanks you Richard for you crisp and clear instructions of changing the change over house. It literally saved me 200$ from buying a new one.
Exhaust Filter.
Instructions were clear start to finish. Your guidance was greatly appreciated
Glad it helped
Exhaust Filter. Great video, I was half way into it when I decided to look for guidance on all the small screws. Found your video and it got me through the rest of it.
👍Thanks! Worked like a charm!
You're welcome!
Thanks. Very useful video. Very clear and well taken
Thank you!
Exhaust filter! I replaced both hoses but this one was the tricky one. It would have been impossible to fix without your tutorial. My Dyson has been out of commission far longer than it should have been. I only wish I had seen this video sooner. Thanks!
Thank you so much, saved me £99 sending it off to the 'experts'!🤩
Thank you!
Thank you for a very helpful video. Thank you for posting what screwdrivers were needed at the start of the video. It still took me 3 stores to find the right one. I started with your older video and had paused it right before you mentioned what size. Vacuum back up and running great. This is the 2nd part (1st was the long suction hose) I've replaced on my Dyson, so glad I can replace these parts rather than have to replace the whole vacuum. Exhaust filter!
Thanks. Super helpful. No suction on my DC40... opened it up and saw the torn hose. Came immediately to UA-cam and saw this... That T8 is rare... searched in my garage and I do not have one. Just placed an order on Amazon for a set because Home Depot doesn't have one either.
Amazing, thanks Richard - just ordered a replacement hose from Dyson and your video will really help when it comes to swapping it over 💪😀
Exhaust filter - Thanks again Richard, just finished the repair and my DC40 works like a dream 😁💪
Directions also work for a Dyson UP16. Thank you! Great video. You saved me a couple hundred bucks and a lot of headaches.
Exhaust filter - many thanks, successfully replaced the hose. Couldn't have done it without this video. My small screws took a T7 and not a T8, but I bought a set of cheap torx so it may be them that is the problem and not your instructions!
Exhaust filter, great help , I think that part needs to be redesigned , so many people have no idea that hose failed
You just fixed my vacuum cleaner! :)
Thank you for the guidance, repaired my Dyson for very little money, really appreciate your help.
Looks very useful and easy to follow, have ordered the part so hopefully the fixing the replacement will go smoothly! Thank you
Exhaust filter: Yes...! Thank you. A quick fix made all the more straightforward by your video.
Thank you Sir for such a clear video step by step, you have save me from having to buy a new vacuum! Thank you Adrian
67 year old granny here I did it thank you so much
Well done granny. Not all heroes wear caps!
Hi. Thank you very much for taking time to upload an excellent video. I was able to follow all your instructions except for seating the plastic washer. I ended up not putting the plastic washer and using the screw directly. Would that be an issue?
It could be. I’m not sure the head of the screw is large enough to keep it secured in
It worked!.....Great video....well done man.
I used furniture wax to stick that small screw to my unmagnetised screwdriver.....worked a treat.
Thanks again
Thanks! Very helpfull
Exhaust Filter but so grateful and empowered. thank you kindly from Texas
Thanks
Great video, saved me a lot of time and money, your lead in to what tools helped, I had to buy a T8 and T15, Harbor Freight 6 bucks
Brilliant Brilliant...just finished job following your video....now in full working order
Thanks so much. I was able to install my POV hose and get everything working again.
Thank you for this video. You helped this 70-year-old man replace the broken hose piece too. I'm have a new problem now though. It is a loss of suction in the hose that is stored in the vacuum handle. It's got me baffled. I'll keep investigating. Let me know if you have any ideas please. Thank you. Tom Wedsworth
Remove your hose and check for clogs in the wand. The wand has a very small opening so it gets clogged easily.
@richardsvacuumcenter
Thank you for your reply. I just checked the accessory house by removing it. It had no clog in the want it in the house blocking the suction. Could I have done something wrong in following your video showing how to replace the @richardsvacuumcenter
I made it to the end so I'll say, exhaust filter. After rewatching your video for the 3rd time, I realized that that I had the COV in the wrong position.
Great video, was easy to follow and made the change so easy. Thanks from Scotland X
You're welcome!
Really helpful video I'm just about to replace this hose on my daughters DC40 and your video should make it much easier to do. Many thanks.
Thanks. I got one that looks great from the dump. Both COV had cracked
So I watched and Im ready for the job! Thanks so much for making it so easy with the links to the parts and tools . I'll be back after I receive the parts and attempt the job . Thanks so much !!!!
Beautiful walkthrough. Just finished one I found in the trash.
“Exhaust Filter”
Thanks a ton! Hugely helpful.
That worked brilliantly!!! Thank you very much for such a great detailed video.
Worked like a charm. $18 repair. Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you!
thanks for your detailed video .
Very helpful. Appreciate the step by step guide and tips.
oh mate, you help me a lot to put this thing back together ! Thanks a lot, greetings from Poland !
Great to hear!
Watching to make step chart as hose here tomorrow. I have used painters tape to keep from dropping screws. Thanks for your video.
Great video. A lot of help. The screw with the funny plastic washer is a bit more accessible if you adjust the hose to the other position.
Thanks!
Thanks, great directions for replacing cov hose. After looking at another video I figured out and was able to see the holes in the hose that I need to replace.😊
Thanks
Yw!
Thank you!! I finally got it! Appreciate your helpful videos
Excellent! I was about ready to toss my Dyson! You saved me $250 👍👍
Fabulous video !!! this was concise and to the point. non of that 'wazzup guys' nonsense. and I fixed my Dyson. Thank you so much!
Exhaust filter, although I'm not sure the screw with the washer at ~8:30-9:30 actually tightened. Maybe I stripped it? But it seems to be all in place. Thank you!
They can strip easily. If it holds you should be fine.
Thanks, this was a big help. I still have a problem however. I wish I could attach a photo here. There is an air gap between the cross over hose flange when it is in the attachment vaccum mode. However the floor vaccum mode it seals properly.
After using the vaccum for a few minutes, the hose flange is now seating properly when its in the upright mode.
Glad you got it figured out
Thanks for the time and energy.
Thank you so much for this awesome video. My vacuum is fully fixed and works great again!
Exhaust Filter nicely done thanks
Exhaust filter! Thank you! Extremely helpful!
Great help. I should have been more careful about keeping track of which screws came out from and where. Unfortunately although you mentioned short screws I was still not sure which screws were being referenced, the regular small ones or the ones with the very short ones . Hopefully I got it right 😜
Thanks for the video!….saved an U19 from the rubbish dump….
With the help of this video able to fix my DC40.. Thank you... Exhaust filter.
Exhaust filter. Very helpful video, thank you!
This was an amazing video! I was able to do this myself and saved me so much money! Much appreciated!
Excellent video for a difficult task. Very well done
Fantastic video. Your instructions and hose part link to Amazon saved my vacuum!
great tip about checking the foam seal was correctly seated, thanks
Thanks so much for your instructions and all looks well and sounds okay. I washed one of the filters too. the inside is spinning and i cant see any blockages, but why doesnt it seem to have much suction. I was expecting more. My Dyson, last year, was so heavy to push round and even before i replaced the COV, it seems too light still... Hmmm.
Is the lower hose connected? Or clogged?
Yes and thanks for redoing this one. Way better and your tips were super helpful along the way. sent a venmo :D
Really helpful video, saved me ££’s.
So a big thank you from us across the pond in Wales.
Thank you very much! I was just giving my DC-40 a good cleaning, the floor brush was very clogged, which I'd never seen so bad. It was the cov, two big holes in it. I'm pretty handy, but I was wondering if this job would be too complicated. Thanks to your video I'll be getting this done as soon as the part arrives from Amazon. Well done, sir!
Exhaust filter. Thanks so much, I'm going to give this a try!
Changed hose, great instructions thank you so much
Thanks for this video, very much appreciated. I have 'Dyson Light Ball™ upright vacuum' and has lost suction in upright position. I checked the hose, looks fine. What could be the reason? please advise.
Thank you for this. And you're awesome do doing it.
It's strange, when I put everything back together. I suddenly had 2 extra screws. I keep trying to figure out where they came from..
But now there is no / very low suction when I put the head back on. I double check everything carefully. When the head is off, big suction power in both positions. When the head is on, there's barely any suction coming from the main head. I blow vape around it to see if there's a leak, but nothing.
Any suggestions?
Check the head for clogs. Also check the other hose that leads down to the head for clogs
Thankyou so much! Clear instructions and a now a properly working vacuum.
You make this look DOable. I will order the part and give it a go! Thank You!
Thank you. This was so helpful.
Don't forget the exhaust filter.
Hey, thanks for posting this. It helped me replace the one on the Up16 I have. Now Im curious to know. How do i figure out what the issue is with the vacuum brush rollers not spinning.🤔 I replaced the brush head roller, fixed the flip hose, it sucks great now but still no spinnage. How do I test the brush button? If its fine, whats keeping power from getting to the brush roller head?
Usually it’s a bad motor. In this video I walk through how to test if your motor is bad. Best of luck Vacuum repair man | How to replace motor in Dyson cleaner head | UP13, 14, 16, 19, DC65, 66

Thankyou from the UK ! So helpful,
You're a legend! Time to order the part and get this sorted.
Thank you sir!
Thanks for the COV replacement guide
Very helpful! Thank you Richard 👍
Excellent video. Thank you so much for sharing. Our old Dyson lives on 😅 Question: our local vacuum repair shop tossed our post filter and put a cheap piece of fabric in its place without telling us. I purchased a replacement from Dyson (confirming the part number with our model number with the folks there on the phone) and now the vacuum makes kind of a screaming sound with it on. It sounds like air is maybe going through the sides of the post filter? It’s definitely on right with the arrows pointing at each other. Will this damage the vacuum if we use it like this? It seems to work well otherwise (especially now with a new cov hose thanks to you).
That’s really bizarre that a repair shop would do that (but not surprising unfortunately). The fabric would just bind up in the ball shell.
You have accurately diagnosed the sound. It’s the gaskets seeping air. That’s abnormal that a new filter is doing that. Usually a new filter will fix that noise. It will not harm the vacuum. But you might be annoyed.
@@richardsvacuumcenter Yeah I’m really disappointed they did it as they’re a local shop and I want to support our Mom & Pops. I’ve tried 2 different post filters now and the same sound happens 🤷🏼♀️ thanks so much for your insight I so appreciate it!
@@richardsvacuumcenter sent you a tip on Venmo! Hope it made it to the right person lol
Thanks, mission accomplished, your video a great help.
Many thanks. Super clear instructions. Success!
Very helpful! I followed it step by step.
Thanks, I am going to try it myself! You made it look very easy.
Thank you for the tutorial on how to repair our DC40.
