Hey Cam, Nancy here. Really loved your review of the MHC Special Release #4! Just thought you might be interested in a few technical notes. First of all, I completely agree that I could have taken it out of those freshly-dumped Calvados casks just a hair earlier. I thought it was absolutely perfect just a month before it was dumped, but I admittedly got a little 'greedy' with it. Next time, I'll pull it just as soon as I think it's ready to go. As always, I really appreciate your honesty and candor in your reviews! ;-)
Secondly, that floral note you are getting is actually from what is known as "Q" yeast strain. Years ago, when 4-Roses and MGP were both under the Seagrams umbrella, they shared all the same yeast profiles. Of course, 4-Roses has kept these up while MGP usually only distills the "V" yeast version these days. Well, back in 2017, we (Magnus) bought some "Q" yeast 21% rye Bourbon from MGP distilled in 2006, which was something they hadn't distilled in years at the Indiana plant. While it is certainly unique, and gives off a lot of floral, potpourri type of aromas as it ages, it takes a VERY long time for it to really come 'on line' for use (at least the MGP version does). I thought it smelled terrible when we first bought it. However, now that it is 17 years old and about to have it's 18th birthday very soon, I find it to be absolutely exceptional to work with. I've held some back to be able to use in future MHC Special blends because it's really come into its own with maturity.

randomly found one on the bottom shelf at an ABC in Virginia. instantly picked it up after hearing David from Whiskey Row say he picked up a backup bottle after tasting it. definitely my favorite bottle of the year so far. great job, Nancy! 🥃

My small town got two of these along with cigar batch! I picked up one of each! It's my first cigar batch and it is amazing but I actually think I like the special release murry hill club better! It's amazing
I’m behind the curve on Joseph Magnus, having just (finally) bought a bottle of their basic triple cask bourbon. I was very impressed though. I’d definitely buy another bottle, but I’m looking forward to try these other Murray Hill and Cigar Blend offerings (unless it actually tastes like cigars 🤢).

Enjoy your videos. Had the opportunity to get a bottle of MHCSR4 and after your review, decided to drop two bills and get it. Haven't tried yet, but looking forward to it. Also appreciate you and Nancy honestly approaching the slight over finishing.
On a reddit review, Nancy stated that she actually felt that she let it finish just a tab bit too long. Also it sat for 4 to 5 weeks in the bottle before it shipped out.

This one is definitely for me. Can’t believe how difficult it’s been to find. Hoping it’s just because it hasn’t been distributed to many states yet and not because there’s very few bottles! Basically doesn’t exist on any stores with shipping outside of $100+ MSRP.
