As always, I love your enthusiasm and honesty. It's great that you don't edit out the normal stuff we all do - drop a pot lid or forget to get something ready before you need it! Keep being normal...
Thanks Luke. I'm so used to always get what I need, when I need it in the kitchen that I can't for the life of me remember to have everything in place on camera. I'm glad to hear that, what I at the time think of as lack of planning, doesn't take away from a viewers experience. Cheers!
Thank you for the video. Nice to hear about your grandmother helping learn how to cook and I’m sure all the experience she could share. Fortunately my mother now 95 who lived thru occupied Holland in WWII is still with us and with a sharp mind & can teach me of things from the past.
It's always good to see ya out and about but when you stop for a meal and your expression of the meal was that good, that makes for a good video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Jack! It isn't often that a freeze dried meal gives me such a pleasant surprise. Most often they are ok at best but this one really hit the spot. Cheers!
👍👍👍 .. nice. Gas as always, a handy alternative. Using Gas, I never have seen the need to operate at full throttle .. being of the opinion (probably erroneous) that, especially with smaller diameter pots and mugs, 'full out' .. a lot of the heat generated (and gas) is wasted flowing out and away from the container bottom. A reasonably lower intensity heat does not appear to appreciably increase the boil time of water .. and anyway, there is no need for haste .. mostly 😏. Bigos .. herewith some useless information 🙄😏 .. I got hold of a Bigos Recipe many years back and the information that accompanied it included that it is a traditional Polish 'Hunter's Stew' .. much beloved back in the day, during Autumn Hunting Festivals on Polish Estates. The Hunters would return from the Field for a hearty Lunch of Bigos and Beer before once again venturing out. It must be at least 20 / 25 years, but I still remember the day .. a Saturday, lunch time, the first time that I attempted the Recipe .. and it was during a South African Winter and yes, it turned out well .. delicious. 'Eating one's mistakes' 😁. I have been fortunate in that my 'mistakes' were not that inedible so as the ingesting of the evidence was overly onerous. But then, I spent five years at a Roman Catholic Boarding School where the Cuisine could be classified as being 'adequate / met basic standards' .. where we learned to eat (and enjoy) what was put before us 😁. Coffee .. as it should be .. strong, black and unsweetened. I add a pinch of salt .. it removes the 'bitterness' from the Palate and makes for a more mellow taste. When feeling especially decadent, a glug of Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey (Mulled Wine or Port will also do) into the Coffee Mug does no harm. Thanks for sharing .. and until next time, take care ..
I had heard of Bigos before but haven't tried it previously. There's a large probability that I will try it out from scratch to see how I manage. And if I fail I'll just have to try again and fail better. Cheers Thomas!
Love it. I use my one when I'm on long cycle tours and only fall back on the spirit burner when I run out of gas. Love your videos and hope you get lots of use from your gas burner.😊
Normaly I'm a firm beliver in the spirit burners but for the Triangle I think that gas will be my primary choice. It works excellent and the noise is pretty much my only complaint. I have some plans for how I will build this kit and I hope that I'll show it off in video a near future. Cheers Robert!
As a simple pot support get a Stainless Steel cycle wheel spoke ~ 2mm x 300mm +, saw off or straighten (use gas heat) first & saw off the J bend stud end, file off the sharp end, you can file down the threads too. Gas heat middle & bend in half, tight turn. Half way up bend out each leg to form a Y, approximately 60° spread. = pot support. No more akward balancing. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the tip. I made something similar, took a piece of a broken umbrella and made a smaller triangle that sits on the support brackets, hopefully it works according to plan. Cheers!
Love my aeropress go coffee maker .three scoops of coffee in the press then top off the cup. With hot water. It's great .I just bought the trangea triangle and a after market butane burner . hope it works like yours
many thanks for the tip about the Long Black. I just purchased the same coffee press. I like the coffee but your are right the coffee is far too small. I have only recently found your channel and have been really enjoying the videos. All the best from New Brunswick Canada.
Sauerkraut is one of my favorite foods to add into meat dishes. I love the tart, freshness it adds. If I'm doing a dish that I feel needs help from an acid, I'll often opt for kraut instead. And I'll even just sit back and eat it cold and plain. Good to see you out enjoying the new gear. I'm actually waiting on my new triangle to come in the mail. I went with a different brand, but it's basically the same. Don't think I'm brave enough to use a gas burner on it, though
Sauerkraut as a side to a hearty stew is nothing short of amazing. As for gas in the Triangle I think it will become my primary choice, it works way better than the spirit, and usually I will pick spirit over gas nine times out of ten. Cheers Chad!
Titanium has a higher melting point than steel and aluminium, I wonder if a Titanium version of Trangia Triangle would tolerate heat more? But as all the comments already pointed out, you'd not want too high a heat as it wastes fuel, anything hot enough to soften the triangle is going to wasteful. I have the gas burner for Trangia but not the Trangia Triangle I have a titanium triangle "Jolmo Lander Titanium Folding Pot Stand" and a titanium 4-side "TOAKS Titanium Alcohol Stove Pot Stand". I might see if these can work together with the Trangia gas burner.
I don't have any experience of titanium stoves, just pots and plates, but some comments testify that Titanium have a tendency to warp at higher temps, (that may or may not be true), so maybe an excess of heat will have other problems with those. Since I learned a more moderate use of heat from the gasvburner I haven't had any more problems. Cheers!
there’s no reason to go full throttle on gas. You only loose fuel economy. you might win some minutes in time but at least for me the time to get water to boil isn’t critical. 😊

Learning from those that didn't have everything pre-made is precious. Cheers!

I was quite surprised that the gas burner fits in the Trangia triangle. I thought it may have been too big. Thanks for a great video.
It fits like a glove. Cheers Tony!

Very good advice on learning to cook. That is how I learned. Also learned some tips and tricks from my uncle who was a trained chef. Thanks
It must be really helpful to get some pointers from a professional, saves you so much mistakes. Cheers Rick!

Sounds great, Alan! Cowboy coffee still is my favourite but a long black from the Aeropress is a good runner up. Cheers!
Very nice video sir. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it, Cheers!
love sauerkraut. It is very healthy, one of the healthiest things you can eat.
Right on, I keep a jar in the fridge most of the time. Cheers!

Welcome to the channel Patrick! The Kiwis know their coffee, the best of both worlds of volume and strenght in a Long Black. Cheers!
Brilliant video and good information. Love my trangia and cooking . Your video's very relaxing. Thank you 👍
Thanks, that's so nice of you. Cheers!

Love sauerkraut... nearly as much as I love your gentle and B R I L L I A N T videos.... Thank you 🙏! 😁
Thank you for those kind words Amanda! (Now you got me all blushing...)
I find myself just setting up trangia on the back porch and cooking just because I can
I hear you Brandon. Cheers! :)

Awesome, welcome aboard!
Smoked plums ??? Thats a new one to me
Yep, hadn't heard of it either Rick. Can't say I could identify the taste properly but in any case it didn't shame the dish in any way. Cheers!
🔥☕️👍🏻😋
Thanks James!😄👋

True, if I'm in a hurry outdoors I'm doing something wrong. Cheers!
