Not your fault, Just funny as hell since you said the price goes up when you talk about it. I see the out of stock on a lot of other review channels. Happens all the time so I have noticed.
I just made my own. It is nearly identical to the alternative you review. It took about an hour for me to design and a few hours to make from scrap I had in my metal pile. Cost zip and works perfectly. If more people would just try to make their gear the price of this stuff would get sane again.
You pay through your nose for your inability to think for yourself and/or make a plan of your own. I got financially wiped out in 2005 but I had a caravan. Since then I have HAD to make plans. And I've got GOOD at it. Fortunately I now have a small pension but it doesn't go as far as I'd like. I also have a side hustle that brings in a few extra bucks. No rent as I have my caravan in a HUGE farm garden in exchange for a few chores and light duties. And I have a few ideas for improving my current financial position. Videos like Way Point Survival are my favourite watching.
A good video but I am not sure why you would have to pay $120 for the Trangia Triangle as they are currently available in the UK for just £17.94. But then again having bought a Hennessy Hammock from the USA I am aware that the massive mark up comes from shipping and taxes etc. A lot of people have issues with the wind when using these smaller stands for alcohol stoves but a simple foil windshield improves the stove efficiency for very little extra weight. I have bought a "Disposable Roasting Tray" which is made out of thick aluminium foil and cut the bottom out and use that a a wrap around wind break. Very cheap and easy to set up and fold away.
The flame is still unprotected where it hits the bottom of the pot. The "windscreen" needs a windscreen. This is a common problem with most pot stands that claim to also offer protection from the wind: the protection is minimal, at best.
You're right.....it was you. I was looking at the Esbit triangle when it was about $30. and at that time thought it was too much but was out of stock anyway. Prices on items once mentioned on UA-cam can go up daily....if not hourly for popular, new items. Thanks!
The "Lixada Ultralight Folding Titanium Pot Stand" triangle also fits the Trangia and is only $12. It does not have the solid fuel plate but was about the right height if the stove is on the ground (the pot would be 1" above the stove).
Thumbs up, even though this video is older it is still relevant and helpful. As someone new and just going the alcohol fuel route just ordered one of these triangle stoves from Ali-Express and its still 16 bucks and some change several years later! Thanks. I have ordered from Ali Express several times over the last few years and although not somewhere I shop often on some things their prices make it the best place to buy certain items from to save you some dollars.
I just bought a Trangia Triangle burner direct from the Trangia website for 24.48 Euros (Approx Australian $38) - no where near being over $100 as mentioned in this video - pricing might be updated perhaps as the video is now over a year old - definitely worth shopping around as prices for Trangia products elsewhere are heavily inflated. Amazon prices aren't too bad but still worth double checking against the Trangia website and they do ship worldwide with free shipping for orders over 100 Euros.
Im using the "Bushbox Ultralight" stove from Bushcraft Essentials. It weighs 10% less than the one in this video, and can be used for alcohol stoves, solid fuel tabs - AND WOOD..! Alcohol stoves are of course more practical than wood, but i still like to be able to just pick up some twigs and save my fuel if i want/need to. Using wood also makes it fairly simple to adjust the heat if i just want the food to simmer. The "EDCBox" from Bushcraft Essentials (worlds smallest wood stove) is also pretty cool, but it cant fit the Trangia, so you need to improvise to use it with alcohol as fuel (i just use a small aluminum tin). When it comes to using wood as a fuel source, it is easy to heat the water sufficiently to make some coffee, or maybe some dehydrated meals, but you need a DIY alcohol stove to bring it to a full boil. The "EDCBox" also fits inside my tiny cookset that is basically just for making coffee. It is an old tin for pipe tobacco, that is about 4" diameter and 1" tall, which contains all i need to boil water for coffee. The tin itself works as a pot, and have just the right capacity to boil water for the "Aeropress Go" coffee maker, and inside this tin i also have the "EDCBox", a small chapstick tin that can be filled with alcohol and used as an alcohol stove, a small box with firestarter materials, the Exotac "NanoSpark" flint lighter (inside the "NanoSpark" i store a small permanent match), a small ~7ml container with alcohol (for the permanent match), a piece of cotton rope that has been charred in one end (so it can be used as a rope lighter together with the NanoSpark), a small scrub (to clean the soot off the stove and pot/tin, and to protect the fingers from the heat when lifting the pot/tin off the stove), and a small button compass (because why not). The weight of this kit is 207g, so it is not especially lightweight, but 4"x1" is about as small as you can get, and still be able to boil water for a full cup of coffee 😎👍
In Sweden today you can buy the Triangle for about $30/280SEK. $100 for 4 pieces of metal is shameful. In combination with the gas burner & spirit burner you have a great kit for cooking outdoors...An updated model of the burner stand in the middle for Triangle 2022...Love from Sweden...🙂
I've paid the money for the Trangia because it can be used with a gas burner, (Trangia or third party gas burner, like GoSystems, which I use). This is a big difference IMO. I have the alcohol burner and the small cross stand for it. The two piece pot stand can lie across the Trangia triangle in a 'T' configuration for smaller titanium cups, providing a fast efficient boil. Everything else is fine. The Trangia Triangle is back in production and generally available and is not commanding the premium prices at the time of this review. Get a TT and a gas burner and pair with the Trangia Mini system and you have a wonderful versatile light cooking system for either gas or spirit or one person. If using gas the burner fits into the Trangia Mini and the TT can be held with it by a rubber band. The Triangle cost me £22 a few months ago; now round £ 26 ($30 at time of posting), on Amazon UK, with an updated design for 2022 which accepts both alcohol and gas burner in a more robust design.
You must REALLY enjoy paying the gouge. I got my Trangia triangle for $35 USD on Amazon, and a Zen triangle for $20. The Zen has 3 position slots so you can burn wood chips and briquettes, too.
The IKEA utensil holder (13.5 cm. SMALL SIZE) @ $4.99 is perfect. If hight adjustment is required, a few pieces of meat skewers will work, same for a "top grill". It doesn't fold but it will hold the stove, aluminum foil, ferro rod, etc.
👍 .. yep, greatly underrated and if one fabricates a carrying bag from whatever is lying around at home, being as lightweight as it is, if necessary, it can be slung onto the outside of one's pack.
I looked at these (when they were still widely available, now they're hard to come by even here in the UK) but opted for a knockoff Lixada type twig burner, the smaller one. The reason for that is that I can also burn wood in this, as well as solid fuel tabs, if my meths (alcohol) is running low.
I bought the Gas One WS10 stove. It burns wood, wood pellets and, if you flip the fuel chamber upside down, will fit a Trangia perfectly. I filled up the Trangia and it ran for 30 minutes with this setup. The Gas One costs $17.
Just got mine, today. 17 days, C$31.33 with $10 shipping. Size testing with my Lixada knockoff Evernew titanium burner fits at the 1" flame level, my lil 450ml cup doesn't fit, but 900ml pot fits fine (I have a lil square grate for that purpose). I see what u mean about having to bend some tabs out for assembly. Also, I contacted the seller & posted the yt link, they were thankful 👍
You should try the Trangia in the lower slot. Trangia is most efficient with a stove top to pot bottom distance of 1.25 - 1.5". As always, thanks for the excellent review.
Before I made a 0.2 ounce cat food can stove, i used a Trangia for quite a few years. I used an Evernew titanium cross stand(0.5 ounce for the pair and $15) plus a Toaks titanium windscreen (0.5 ounce, $11). I still use the windscreen for my cat can stove
I bought a very similar one a couple of years ago. Use a windscreen on a windy day or bring three times the amount of fuel you would use in perfect condition. Make a grill or bring some nails, or tent pegs for mug sized cups and pots. The simmer ring won’t fit so make one out of the bottom of a tin can that is just a drop over. Love mine, but it sees limited use. Sort of a bug out bag item.
Another great alternative is the bushbox ultralight from bushcraft essentials. It offers the same as the ones you show, with the option also use wood and esbit tablets. I also like the top plate, cause it fits even very narrow cups. With the closed baseplate its 40€, but you get a made in Germany product with way more versatility
I know you mentioned it briefly but how well does the TOAKS Siphon work in this stand? Does it leave a 1" gap with the solid fuel plate still installed?
The problem with all of these triangle stands is that the slightest breeze flowing under the pot will blow the flame away from the bottom of the pot. This is why designs such as the Sterno Inferno kit are best, because it creates a windbreak that goes up the sides of the pot (which also has the heat distribution design similar to Jetboil).
Too bad the Inferno has its own issues. The lid isnt heat resistant and swells into the pot becoming stuck. It is designed to only be used with the included pot. People have also reported the lock tabs getting stuck so they go to pick up the pot and end up picking up the whole stove which is less than ideal when your fuel is liquid (fire hazard). Lastly it doesnt nest neatly into itself since the flame guard has to actually hang outside the pot so it's a tad bit larger than it should be trying to pack it away. Firebox nano with it's flame guards is also highly wind resistant and can be used with whatever pot/pan combo you want plus it packs flat. If you want a wind resistant system that only works with one pot without the quality control concerns of the Inferno the caldera cone is another option.
Have a look at the Clikstand it solves the problem you are referring to, one can purchase stainless steel or Titanium versions. This is the ultimate triangle style set up available for gas and alcohol in my opinion.
@@SnowyAspenHills You´re absolutely right. Actually the Clikstand is the original. All the others are copy cats. I bought mine 10 years ago when the titanium version wasn´t avaliable. It is a bit heavy. but works well with the windscreen.
I like that you do all the comparisons that I wonder about. I have the Trangia triangle. I got it about 5 years ago. I got a good windscreen for it. I use it in my daybag as a security incase I can't make it face to camp.
There is an inverse relationship between the height of the stove and the burning of your fingers trying to light it. Now if they had a little door like an old 'pilot hole door' that you could light from the side.... What would be nice if they designed a pot holder that has a place to put something under the alcohol stove to heat the stove while the stove warms up. Sure would speed things up in the winter time.
As I have previously stated. Trangia on the upside down lid in the Bushbuddy is very safe. It's what I have. (besides the Esbit triangle) It can burn wood, it can burn alcohol. If you own a solo stove that probably works the same. I would rather not buy something made in China. On the other hand I have been toying with a cross stand directly on the body of the Bushbutdy. hmmmm, 2 pieces of 1 inch x 1/8 inch x 5 inches aluminum bar and a little DIY might just do the trick.
@@PaleoHikerMD Cool! Can’t wait to see it. Only problem I found was the stakes are too long to fit in my 750ml pot, and if they’re somewhere else, that opens up the potential to lose or forget them…
For $10 get a Lixada titanium 2 in one windscreen, is round, 2 pieces you put together, Trangia inside, if your pot is small in diameter get a little square bushcraft grill to stabilize any kind of pot and you can use the little grill on top of your Firebox nano and other stoves. You’ll be paying around $15 definitely no more than $20 altogether both pieces just add your Trangia. I’ve used mine countless times and is great. Amazon has both.
I ordered a trangia triangle some years ago, it didn't turn up. Purchased another 2 trangia triangles which arrived fairly quickly. Then purchased an Esbit triangle, which arrived no worries at all. I don't remember having to pay anywhere near the prices mentioned and I ordered mine from the UK. Oh yeah, my missing trangia triangle turned up 18 months later, got to laugh but what the heck, 3 trangia and 1 Esbit triangle stoves, got to be happy 😏
Hmm, I looked today and the Argos stand after shipping and import tax is the same price as the Trangia Triangle here in the UK. Both about £30, ($36). Ive been using one of the Chinese lixada stands which is very thin flexible metal in 2 parts, only weighs about 20 grams. Works fine for small pans, problem is it doesnt take the burner off the ground so is a fire risk when its dry. So have to scrape away any leaves and put it on soil, or on a mat.
I have the expedition titanium esbit stove. it works great too. 28.00 dollars, It is essentially like those. I also got that info from you. Luckily they did not raise their prices.
IMHO, this has only one thing going for it: the price. The Firebox nano weighs just 30 grams more and offers far more versatility. Always neat to see new stuff!
I have tried different triangle stands and really do not care for them except for one. The Clickstand , Appalachian Titanium Combo. Whats nice about it is the adjustable wind screen that comes with it. A puff of wind will not extinguish the flame like it can with the others. The old adage , You get what you pay for.
I have that Argos stand. I did find that my Trangia knock off does not snap in like your authentic Trangia. I just use it with the stove on the ground, or with the solid fuel support on the lowest (just like you showed). It is still not great in windy conditions. Something like the Caldera cone is far better wind protection and collecting maximum heat from the alcohol stoves.
You Sir, are a market place juggernaut! Now you've gone and created a run on "ArgosTitanium Folding Pot Stand with Tray. Will Restock from Mid-Novemer2021" --Freeman
Got this about a year ago I can’t get the Trangia to fit into the slots So I use the solid fuel platform Not exactly the sweet 1” spot Trangia has a major supply problem So the silly prices are not from Trangia, just secondary suppliers
The problem with this stove (and the Esbit) is that you wouldn't be able to use the simmer rings on Trangia and Esbit burners, whereas the Trangia Triangle has room (just) for a simmer ring. This may (at least in part) make up for the exorbitant price of Trangia product.
No pandemic shortage. Trangia had to stop the production due to some patent stuff, spring 2022 they have a new design in full production (better) and the shortage is void. In Sweden the new design is about $25 and a great value.
To be honest? Our Church youth group has been making our own "stove stand" for years. We flaten out a large coffee can, and cut it to a similar pattern with tin-snips! Cost us ZERO! Folks just donate their empty coffee cans. These have been working just fine for 25 years.
Great review. I’ve got one of these stands that I use with my Lixada titanium stove and it works a treat. For me it’s better than the triangle for boiling water because you can use a wider variety of pots. It’s my go to UL setup when I’m not using my Trangia 27. Provides wind protection too and the adjustable height tray is a neat feature. It supports my Snow Peak Trek 700 really well. One thing to note is that you can’t use the simmer ring but for boiling water that’s not an issue.
I made a simmer ring (non adjustable) out of a tomato soup can. I bring the water to a boil then drop the cab over top to take it to a simmer to save fuel or extend the cooking time.
@@ronkierstead sounds interesting. I should say that you can actually use the simmer ring but only on its lowest possible setting. I have a lixada stove too which is essentially an Evernew clone and it comes with a snuffer cap which won’t fit into the Argos triangle but that’s not much of an issue as I tend to measure the alcohol carefully and just let it burn out.
Hey Ernie, I really enjoy your videos..I carry a Vargo Hexagon wood stove and the Vargo Decagon spirit burner fits inside perfectly. this way I have 2 options of heating my meals
3:40 - Assemble the triangle with the outside turned for inside. :)) 4:08 - The review miss the detail that this triangle don't allow use the simmer ring of Trangia burner.
I have one, have reviewed it. My major issue with it is that you have to have a pretty wide pot to use it, at least without modifying it. Good stand though.
Great review as always Dr Ernie !! I have tried to buy a few things that you reviewed from them and not long after your review it was sold out . Lol . Take care and stay safe my friend !!
Nice little stove there. Have you tried the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox ultralight stove? I always have it with me when I'm out and about - it's fiddly to assemble but really versatile! All the best from the UK!
I have done as Simon H. Lixada titanium mini wood burning, gives you more options should you need. Folds flat and small enough to fit in your back pocket of your pants.
Hi, great vids, i wonder if you have one of the larger army issue trangias. I use mine in a triange as it fits straight in the slots without the rest that you would normaly fit in it. 😉
They are back in stock. Mine just arrived. Had to do some twerking to get the Trangia to sit as you demonstrated but for the price needing to pull out the Leatherman for 30 seconds and do some squeezing with the hands here and there was nothing.
I found a somewhat similar stainless stand on EBay that came with a poor quality (no internal wick) Trangia knock off. It cost about $17 US and doesn't have the solid fuel plate or the dual height option, but at least it's available. (Weighs more than titanium, but so does the triangle...)
I should have added that the Trangia burner also fits in the Expedition Research solid fuel stove in place of the solid fuel plate. I don't know if the height is optimal, but it's pretty close.
Would like for u too do a review on the Atiap titanium wood stove. The top is a 3X3 inch. Seems nice and have one but no time to test been on medical leave.
Hmm, I wonder if that can take the trangia gas burner also.. It's a decent burner, it has a hose and the heater loop thing. I got one before finding the joys of ultralight and BRS, the cook set is worthless to me, but I think the burner would be good for winter, because I could turn the canister upside down with it, but I haven't found a stand for it yet. Edit: No, after looking at the design and the burner, I don't think it will. Btw, it is stocked now.
This titanium stand is now 31,73€ and trangia triangle is 25.90€. Looks to be smaller than trangia, so i wonder how well it would fit a gas burner or a multifuel burner.
I like the Trangia triangle because my military M40 burner fits right inside without the adapter. Just bought 4 sets for about 20€/pcs shipped directly from Sweden.
Looks much better from a cost standpoint than either of the other two you mentioned! Thanks for taking a look at it! I would like to suggest a couple of related stoves for you to look at: picogrill 85 and picogrill 239, both available on Amazon ($21 and $40 respectively). Both are made of stainless steel. The number designates the weight in grams of each stove, so the smaller one is 85 grams and the larger one is 239 grams. Both can accommodate a Trangia (or clone), along with their primary purpose of being wood/twig stoves (although the larger one really doesn't need twigs). With a very minor addition of something to contain the solid fuel as it burns (aluminum foil, mason jar lid, etc.), both could also be used with solid fuel tablets. I've got my picogrill 85 on order and am anxiously awaiting its arrival!
You beat me to it to suggest picogrill stoves. LOL I'd also suggest picogrill 398, which is larger and heavier, but in different form factor to be used as BBQ grill firepit.
Hi! I'm late but I was wondering how this would work with a Trangia Mini. Do you need an additional windshield or could this perhaps replace the poor trangia original "windshield" entirely?
Guys, I checked last night before I posted the link and it was "in stock". Sorry! Keep an eye on it and hopefully they will restock soon...
Aargh! Nice review.
you did it again Ernie - reviewed and now gone - no mad just sad, thanks for the review

Used trangia for 40 years and wouldn’t swap. It’s easy really. It WORKS.long live trangia 🏴🙏👍
True fact, you can never have too many stoves. Thanks for sharing!
The "Lixada Ultralight Folding Titanium Pot Stand" triangle also fits the Trangia and is only $12. It does not have the solid fuel plate but was about the right height if the stove is on the ground (the pot would be 1" above the stove).

You might want to try the Zen Camps stove holder. It works great. Only 19.99 with free shipping. Really well built.
As I have previously stated. Trangia on the upside down lid in the Bushbuddy is very safe. It's what I have. (besides the Esbit triangle) It can burn wood, it can burn alcohol. If you own a solo stove that probably works the same. I would rather not buy something made in China. On the other hand I have been toying with a cross stand directly on the body of the Bushbutdy. hmmmm, 2 pieces of 1 inch x 1/8 inch x 5 inches aluminum bar and a little DIY might just do the trick.
thanks for this video got mine today they seem a bit better now I never had to bend the tabs to get mine set up.
I love the shameless plug for your patches
:)
It's back in stock on Ali Express!! I just ordered mine :)
You are right. I bought very cheap on aliexpress trangia cook set. It's very similar but very cheap. I have it for a year no problem
I use the Toaks "titanium alcohol stove stand & windscreen" with my Trangia. It's $24 on Amazon & works great with my Toaks 750ml pot.
Great kit, have a review on it filmed that will come out down the line
@@PaleoHikerMD Cool! Can’t wait to see it. Only problem I found was the stakes are too long to fit in my 750ml pot, and if they’re somewhere else, that opens up the potential to lose or forget them…
As always, great no-nonsense material, and well-presented.👋
Thank for the video just ordered my one from Ali express to the Uk 🇬🇧 no problem
Sold out! It was definitely you Ernie!
All sold out!. You are a force of nature 😃
IMHO, this has only one thing going for it: the price. The Firebox nano weighs just 30 grams more and offers far more versatility. Always neat to see new stuff!
I have one and love it. I also bent mine and put the solid fuel plate in after. Thanks for the review.
Great review as usual Ernie. Would love you to review the Picogrill stoves and grills note available on Amazon when you get a chance. Thx again 👍
I have tried different triangle stands and really do not care for them except for one. The Clickstand , Appalachian Titanium Combo. Whats nice about it is the adjustable wind screen that comes with it. A puff of wind will not extinguish the flame like it can with the others. The old adage , You get what you pay for.
Nowadays you do NOT get what you pay for! That's why these videos are so valuable.
M71 stove all the way!... Sending you love from the uk ♥️🔥
Seems like it would support smaller pots. I like that, but your influence has done it again - waiting for new stock.
Ernie, have you tested or reviewed the Bushcraft Essentials brand Bushbox Ultralight Outdoor Pocket Stove?
It’s pretty great, IMO.

Wow, so, I guess UA-cam deleted my reply because I included an Amazon link to the triangle stove I asked about above?
Ridiculous.
Got this about a year ago
I can’t get the Trangia to fit into the slots
So I use the solid fuel platform
Not exactly the sweet 1” spot
Trangia has a major supply problem
So the silly prices are not from Trangia, just secondary suppliers
The problem with this stove (and the Esbit) is that you wouldn't be able to use the simmer rings on Trangia and Esbit burners, whereas the Trangia Triangle has room (just) for a simmer ring. This may (at least in part) make up for the exorbitant price of Trangia product.
Yeah, that is a huge negative if you want to actually cook meals rather than just boil water. This is no way superior than the Trangia.
I used my pocket rocket for ages. I would use this for more colder weather. Very interesting.
Great video as always. You have got to check out the pill bottle stove.
Have you tried out the Picogrill line? :)
This looks like a good pot support and your review was great as usual. I was wondering if you’d ever heard of picogrill?
Hey Ernie, I really enjoy your videos..I carry a Vargo Hexagon wood stove and the Vargo Decagon spirit burner fits inside perfectly. this way I have 2 options of heating my meals
You can't beat the trangia 27 cooking set with kettle
You have great videos! Since you seem to be the guy when it comes to these we would love to send you one of our StarFire stoves to try.
3:40 - Assemble the triangle with the outside turned for inside. :))
4:08 - The review miss the detail that this triangle don't allow use the simmer ring of Trangia burner.
I understand the Clickstand is the original - and has a windshield too.
I struggle to get it in the UK, but it shouldn't be a problem for you.
I have one, have reviewed it. My major issue with it is that you have to have a pretty wide pot to use it, at least without modifying it. Good stand though.
Don't forget to play with solar stoves Ernie. :) My favorite is "The Solsource stove." Big size, and a junior size for camping.
Great review as always Dr Ernie !! I have tried to buy a few things that you reviewed from them and not long after your review it was sold out . Lol . Take care and stay safe my friend !!
Looks good but can you use the simmer cap with it?
Why not just get the bush box mini? Do you guys not have those over there in the States? Check em out. Made in Germany
GO GET EM ERNIE!!! 👍🏼
I like ur set up, firebox Nano and a alcohol stove
Nice little stove there. Have you tried the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox ultralight stove? I always have it with me when I'm out and about - it's fiddly to assemble but really versatile! All the best from the UK!
how many inches is the distance from the top of the trangia to the top of the stove, does it have 1 inch?
I have done as Simon H. Lixada titanium mini wood burning, gives you more options should you need. Folds flat and small enough to fit in your back pocket of your pants.
Just spotted it on Amazon, in stock, for $20 shipping included
Looks like China is out of stock. I got to keep looking for one somewhere. Thanks I will be on the Hunt!
Short question where is the Argo made? Trangia now where to find? On the Trangia website ?
I want both patches and the stand
you should run this test in wind conditions
Well. The little pot stand may be out of stock but I just bought a bunch of Toaks titanium gear that i didn't need, lol.
Hiram Cook would be proud. 😊
I like the Trangia triangle because my military M40 burner fits right inside without the adapter. Just bought 4 sets for about 20€/pcs shipped directly from Sweden.
Hi Ernie, does this stand allow enough space for the simmer ring to used properly?
Big fan btw.
No space for use Trangia simmer ring.
Clickstand Titanium have space, but cost more than this Argus.
@@Sokol10 thank you👍
Thanks a lot Ernie! Now the price is gonna shoot up to $180. U.S. 😫
both of them,, which one you choose
It says, they will restock mid-Nov in the item title
The downside is, that it so small, that you cant use the lid on the Trangia to regulate the heat.
Exatto!
The Trangia triangle are 30$ on amazon right now
Can argos be used with the Trangia gas burner with some kind of assessory? It works with the Triangle, I think that makes is very versatile.
Hi! I'm late but I was wondering how this would work with a Trangia Mini. Do you need an additional windshield or could this perhaps replace the poor trangia original "windshield" entirely?
