Jeep JL Wrangler Front Bumper Installation EVO Quarter Pounder Stubby with WARN ZEON 10s Winch

- Ever since Cindy and I got our Jeep JL Wrangler, there's been one front bumper in particular that we've been wanting to run but wasn't available or at least, not until now. Of course, that bumper would be the Quarter Pounder by EVO Manufacturing and as some of you may know, it's the same basic and beefy, stubby front bumper that we've been running on Moby for years. Some of the things we love most about it, is that it's super compact, comes with a built in winch plate that sits down low and in between the frame rails, allows you to chop the lower frame extensions, flip the Rubicon sway bar disconnect motor and hide all the mess behind precision, laser cut and CNC bent, 1/4" steel that's proudly Made in the USA! In this episode of the JL JOURNAL, you'll get to see just how easy it is to install a Quarter Pounder front bumper and with a WARN ZEON 10s winch. We hope you find our video to be helpful to you.

That was another great install video! Thank you for taking the time to share a detailed, quality video....you guys are the best👍👍👍
So glad to hear you found the video to be helpful :)
Love the clean look. EVO killed it and you guys did to. 👍👍👍👍
As a brand new jeep wrangler jl owner, I have found your videos very satisfying. I truly enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!
So the editing for your unboxing portion is top notch. So smooth 😍
LOL - happy to hear you enjoy some of the fun we have making our videos :)
I was unboxing some parts for my Jeep this past weekend and I told my fiancé that every box I open I now think of Eddie. Luckily we both are subscribed to your channel so no further explanation was necessary. 😜 As always- awesome video and the editing is top notch!
LOL - too funny. I hope you tear into them with reckless abandon :)
Great video! And kudos to Cindi on her filming and editing!
Thank you. We really do appreciate it :)
You got to love the unboxing, slamming parts on the table! Yes!
LOL - glad you enjoy it :)
Looks great! Love the super clean and functional look!
Awesome! Glad you like what you see :)
This channel should be called “Jeep Master.” I enjoy the way you fast forward through the straightforward bits and show us in detail the tricky stuff. Also, kudos for painting the tusks you cut. I wondered if you were going to. Yep, went straight to the spray paint! You really know your craft.
We'll, we're truly flattered you would say as much and so glad that we can share videos like this with you :)
Nice looking bumper ! Really your channel has inspired me to save for my dream Jeep and while I save I enjoy learning from your professional instructional videos !
Thank you. We're glad to hear it :)
I just barely got done watching the original basic set up and thought it was sweet by itself and here you are already improving on it 10 fold.
I like this set up even better. The comprehensive install videos are gonna do wonders when I go to install my own stuff.
Awesome, so glad to hear it :)
It really does look dramatically better even if functionally pretty much the same thing
Looks great we love that look and the EVO bumper too!!! 👍🍻
Awesome, glad you approve :)
Sweet bumper, guys! Another great video!!
The unboxing edit is great and so funny,I love it. Good improve for Jet. Well done Eddie👍.
LOL - thanks, we try to have some fun and happy to know there are people like you who appreciate it :)
Good idea with putting bolts in backwards. I am excited for your new videos . Keep up the good work🤟!
Just got my quarter pounder in today and came to watch the install 🙌
Awesome! Congratulations to you on your new bumper!
Mine's showing up today for my JK. I've had the LOD stinger bumper for the last 9 years that you guys used to have on Moby, but am doing a refresh on my JK and needed a change. The quarter pounder has always been one of my favorites. Thanks for the helpful vid as usual!
Awesome and congratulations to you. Glad to hear our video was helpful for you.
Really like the look of your Jeep and the quality of your work on the véhicule and on the video.. Tks.
Thank you :)
Safety Always Brother!
The way you edit the unboxing is very satisfying. Keep up the great work! Jet is really coming along.
LOL - glad you have fun watching it :)
Looks Bad Ass Loving the Stubby Beef look.
Thanks for the great video. I found that a 15mm crows foot works very well for the rear passenger winch bolt.
Eddie, from all the channels I watch, you have a deep knowledge of off road preparation. Congratulations for your work! I always follow here from Brazil, I live in Belo Horizonte! Cheers!
Truly flattered to hear you say as much and glad that you enjoy our videos. Thank you.
Great video once again guys. Your Jeep looks great!!!
Thank you, so glad you like what you see :)
Looks great brother👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Wow looks awesome!!
Thanks :)
Nice install, good looking bumper, better than my Rubicon steel bumper I bought for my Rubicon EU-version in The Netherlands. Best regards, 🇳🇱❤️🇺🇸✌️👍💪
Nice Video, again. Keep up the awesome work.
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Your content is always really good.
Glad you think so! Thank you.
Very clean look. 👌
Just what you need and nothing else :)
Your videos are keeping me Sane in covid-19

Looks good Eddie. just the basics is all you need. Evo makes some great products
That's how we feel about it :)
I like your videos, you’re very thorough
Thank you, we really do appreciate it :)
I know this is an old video but I have been watching some of them and enjoying them. You always make it look easy. If I were to do this I would probably make 10 trips to get tools, etc LOL. Thanks for posting. 👍
LOL - so glad to hear you enjoy our videos.
Another clean install! Have to say it, totally jealous of your garage!! Lol!!! So cool.
LOL - thanks. Took me years to finally get it :)
Killer video! Thanks for great overview! Really appreciate the little details and suggestions for how to get the sway bar disconnect out of the way! Awesome looking Jeep after it all!
Awesome! Glad you found our video to be helpful :)
Excellent video as always, especially the unboxing bit! One of the other UA-cam channels I follow does the same thing and it's always good for a laugh. Glad to see yous adopted it as well. That EVO bumper looks great. They make some awesome looking stuff and the quality seems amazing!
LOL - so glad you enjoy our videos :)
Outstanding! Thank You Sir.

Looks sick , you can’t go wrong with evo
This is true :)
I have the evo bumper and stinger on my JL. And I love it!!

Nice video. Thanks for the help. Other than the rear winch bolts it’s wasn’t bad.
Awesome! Glad the video helped :)
Those wheel spacers really changed the look and stance of the Jeep.. 🧢 off to you guys for the awesome channel!!! Thank you
Thank you. We're so glad that you've been enjoying our videos :)
Port-o-band makes quick work of the frame horns, nice and straight cuts! Now A pice of painters tape on the nuts on your winch hold them in place! My meat sausages would never fit! Great video love the EVO bumper looks nice!
Would love to have a Port-o-band 👍
tnew bumper looks great
Glad you like it :)
Sweet looks awesome, similar but just that much tidier
Tidier is what I would call it :)
A great addition. I must say the overall finish is nice but it’s EVO so it’s what you’d expect from a good quality product
LOL - indeed. :)
Nice!
Glad you liked it :)
I've been shopping around for bumpers and watching tons of videos. This one does everything I'm looking for. Although it did seem like this is one of the few bumpers that installing the winch ahead of time might've been beneficial.
LOL - good luck with that.
@@johndoughboy6930 LOL - I make an extremely thorough video on how to install an EVO bumper with a WARN winch but somehow, I'm a "dbag" for not adding "a little context" to a reply I made. Now, allow me to laugh at you while you to sit there and wonder what the answer might be. 👍
Love the no Tusk look, it looks very stout and clean cut, just like your haircut Eddie 😁
LOL - too funny :)
Me likey! It’s such a bad ars man! Enjoy & be safe always my brother
Awesome, thank you :)
nice
Package Opening ..... 😃 👍 👍 👍
Some buytel or strip caulk (dum dum) will hold the nuts in the winch, I do this on everyone I install, for this trick years ago and works great.
Thanks for the tip. I actually just used some tape on the other side but forgot to film it.
I did a sway bar electronic disconnect delete and saved the weight. You can easily install a sway bar link quick disconnect setup, beefed up links. Not much of a hassle. I was thinking Anti-Rock
Sorry, I LOVE the electronic sway bar and HATE the Antirock. Way too soft for on pavement and way too stiff off road. At least, that's what I had found over the years.
Although I liked 1st bumper u I stalled better I like this much better then just the winch mount setup
That's the beauty of Jeeps, you can build them up however you want :)
Great video brother. There’s always going to be nuts and bolts the ms is going to have to start for you lol. Team work👍🏻
LOL - Team work is what it's all about :)
Team work makes the dream work. So corny but also true lol
I’m on a pretty strict budget with my JL at the moment but I did something pretty cool I think. Took all the metal out of my stock jl plastics bumper and made my own bumper delete.
I like your chanel!
Thank you :)
Would you mind telling me the type and size of hardware you used for the motor flip? Does that come with the bumper or is this extra?
Ha, Eddie looks like a Japanese grill chef opening those boxes xD
LOL - now that's funny. I'll have to learn how to do knife tricks :)
Quarter Pounder, "I'm lovin' it," clever. ;)
Jeep needs to make the same model but as a EV ! it would be brilliant , and environmentally good and make jeep look good in the public eye .
Looks awesome! Great video. It’s tough being an automotive engineer obsessed with weight seeing giant solid steel spacers though haha. My OCD would have forced me to water jet some out of aluminum with center areas removed as well.
Will you add any bull bars or stingers to this one?
I would have to paint that 1 silver Allen bolt black I love it tho
LOL - I may still :)
Great instructional video as always. Would you mind sharing your preferences on the size of the synthetic winch line to use? That appears to be 1/2".
We're running the synthetic line that comes with the ZEON 10s and it's just 3/8".
What did you use to replace the spare tire bumper stops they look like a fender fastner clip
Another great video Eddie! Love the minimalist look. I can't seem to find your video on mounting the air compressor. Any chance you could post a link?
Actually, we don't have a video on it yet. Coming very soon though.
Hi Eddie, what is the bolt specs (size, length and sleeve length) for the sway bar motor flip? Thank you
Do u by chance have a link for the sway bar disconnect kit 2020 rubicon, also when u did the cut on the tusks you went up on a angle towards when going to the back, is that suggested, and 7 and a half is that also suggested, THANK YOU in advance
Thanks for another great install video. This is probably an obvious question, but why not install the winch foot retaining bolts top down setting with the winch rather than from the bottom up? Also, did you torque them to any value?
The nuts in the winch are square and sit in slots that prevent them from rotating. I did not tighten them to a torque spec being that I couldn't get a torque wrench up into the bumper to do so but given the bolt sizes, they should have only needed about 45-50 ft lbs. That's easy to get to by hand.
Very nice
If you flat tow the jeep can you use the D-Rilng brackets for the attachment point for a tow bar?
I don't think so. But, there are kits out there that can use the mounts.
Now i saw what you did about flipping dring mounting bolts do you need lock tight on the bolts?
Nope, no loctite needed.
Hey Eddie, quick question not sure if its been answered but must the 'tusks' be cut off with the quarter pounder. I know the JK required some cutting but just ordered and was wondering if I should be ready to cut come install time.
Thanks!
Yes, you must cut them off in order to install the Quarter Pounder.
Do you know when this will be available for the JL? After watching your video I went to purchase it but none of the vendors EvoMFG lists have it on their sites yet.
Hopefully the EVO powder coating holds up, its been flaking and peeling off on people on various EVO parts/accessories. Otherwise awesome unboxing and install.
I suppose it's just me but I can't say I've had any issues with their powder coating. Of course, you can order their stuff bare steel and have them powder coated at a local shop. I've done this in the past too and the shop I use does an awesome job.
Eddie, I like the look without the stinger but do they make a “low profile” loop to protect the winch just in case? Seems a bit exposed to damage on the controller.
They don't or at least, not as of now but if they were to come out with one, I wouldn't mind having one.
Nice Vid. Thanks. I notice you have a significant angle on your swaybar. I was under the impression the front sway bar was basically supposed to be level with the ground, am I misinformed?
Ideally, you want your sway bar arms sitting at about 5° above level. However, we have a tremendous amount of droop due to our coil overs and longer links are needed to prevent hyper-extending the links at a full flex. This is of course because we have a Rubicon and use the e-disco.
So I have a question in regards to what did you do with the fog light wiring and will it throw any codes
I just zip tied them out of the way and you will not get an error code.
Looks really good
Like it more then the last plate. The evo link doesnt seem to work tho. Also assuming this will work with a Sahara...???.
Great vids. Glad you make them!
That's odd. I'll have to give it a look. And yes, it'll work on any JL or even JK for that matter. Happy to hear you enjoy our videos.
I love it!😘so what were the extensions that you cut off for??the factory skid plate??🚙🚙💜
The air dam but essentially, yes.
Nice install. I really appreciate how you add the little aids that you include that helps eliminate tons of time scratching my head. This bumper is heavy! What is your thought on aluminum bumpers? My Jeep is currently near weight capacity when wheeling. Evo has an Alumilite. Genright makes an ultra high clearance bumpr. What is your thought on the weight vs durability for the front bumper? Thank you for your time.
I don't know what constitutes "near weight capacity" but I can tell you that with 1-ton axles, steel armor and all the gear that I carry in my JK, it's almost 7k lbs in weight and it's been able to take me everywhere and all across the US for 15 years now. That said, nothing wrong with aluminum and if saving weight is your thing, you should consider it.
I just watched your install as a guide for mine and it was very helpful, but did you have long enough bolts? Mine are short with the three spacers.
Yeah, my bolts were long enough. I wonder if maybe you got bolts for a JK.
Maybe, I will contact evo and find out.
Great Video
Great video! Any info on bolt size and crush sleeve for the sway bar disconnect motor? think I am going to go this route with my bumper selection.
Sorry, I don't know for sure but if I recall, it only came in one size.
Ok so just finished up flipping it. It was an all thread 10M - 1.5 x 100mm bolt, also it was 2.25 inches of rolled spacer I used a 3/8 inch 0.75 and 1.5 inch spacers to get to the 2.25.
Just ordered my first Wrangler, a Willys Xtreme Recon! Really like the looks of this. Would cutting the tusks off void warranty? Is there something similar that wouldn’t require that?
Warranties are only voided IF what you're wanting to have covered was affected by the modification you've made. In other words, if you're trying to have your radio replaced under warranty, the tusks being removed would have no bearing on that. Make sense?
Do you think it might have been better to mount the winch to the bumper first? Very curious about that.
rich swanson no because you wouldnt be able to get to the two inner frame bolts on each side
Nope. Near impossible to do especially if you're doing this alone. If you're doing this as a new install, it's a lot easier and you won't have the same issues being that there won't be any rope on it.
Excellent. Thanks for the tip. Many videos with other bumpers say that it’s easier to mount a winch first. Nice to know it’s not the same for this application.
@@blakstar64 I've installed a LOT of bumpers over the years and I can't say I've ever found it easier to mount a winch first. The whole idea of doing that just seems stupid to me. Not say that there aren't some bumpers out there that may require it but clearly, I've never dealt with one.
Do you recall what size bolt and what size crush sleeve you used ?
Hi eddie, so no need winch plate?
The winch mounted on bumper?
Thx sorry I’m new lol great video btw nice and clean look love it.
The winch plate is built into this bumper. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Quarter Pounder no cheese!
