    I want you to know that unlike my professor you actually know how to properly teach it whereas he rushes through it once and expects us to know it and he doesn’t properly explain it. You will be the reason I pass and I want to thank you greatly for it.

    I'm having a hard time understanding why in the example at 7:10 the #2 is priority over #3. Is it because you would consider that chain to be CH2C(CH3)2 vs CH2CH2CH2? I feel like I understand this stuff well until I get to long carbon chains with multiple substituents or alkene/ynes, then I get lost.

    Does OH have more priority than O or is it the opposite?

    • @Leah4sci
      @Leah4sci  7 місяців тому

      An oxygen will not exist by itself so it depends on what else is there. Meaning, is it a pi bond or ether? Pi bonds count as 2, ether has a C on the O which outranks H on the O in OH
