    Omgg this made things so clear!! You really have a gift for explaining!! It's easy to be a professor, but to be able to explain something highly technical to another person, and in layman's terms, is a real talent!! Better than my lecturer who forgot to tell us what's the meaning of a thick solid bond and a dashed bond 💔

    Great explanation. So many other video authors forget how effective it is to use the simplest model, a ball and stick, and then by hand show the difference in it's mirror image. If you have to imagine it going into or out of the plane, why use a video at all? as some others are doing.

    Hi! At 9:47 you say "if it's not chiral, it will not have a mirror image." Can you explain this? I thought you showed the mirror image of the achiral molecule at 9:05.

    • @Leah4sci
      @Leah4sci  10 місяців тому

      The achiral molecule at 9:05 had mirror images that were superimposable on each other. In other words, it was NOT two distinct molecules whose mirror images had separate molecular identities. It was one and the same molecule.
      The statement at 9:47 still rings true. Chiral molecules must be mirror images of each other, but they must also be non-superimposable. They must be two distinct molecules that are ALSO mirror images.

    hello ! a quick question,
    if a molecule is superimposable does it has to be achiral ?
    and if a molecule is not superimposable does it has to be chiral ?

    • @Leah4sci
      @Leah4sci  4 місяці тому +1

      To talk about being superimposable means to compare two structures to see if they align with each other.
      If a molecule is chiral, that means its mirror image can NOT be superimposed on the original structure. If a molecule is achiral, that means its mirror image CAN be superimposed on the original structure.

    @7:46 how is a molecule chiral but the same??

    • @Leah4sci
      @Leah4sci  8 місяців тому

      If you think of chirality as right and left, 2 rights are the same, 2 lefts are the same.

    You make it confuse...chiral are not superimpose and you say superimpose are chiral...

      I'm sorry if you find the video confusing, but it sounds like you already know the answer so you're all set.
