At 52, having grown up in the 70s and 80s, this song brings back so many memories and the nostalgia of my youth. It saddens me that my children and their children will never know how amazing America used to be.

this is Chicago's finest song IMO. The drumming is out of this world, but great musicianship all around. I remember reading that Peter at first didn't like this song as some of the lyrics were cringe ("Howdy Doody..."). But I think it is a great sentiment - looking back on good times gone past. I was 15 in 1974... would love to go back there for just a few days.
The 70's lineup of this band was fantastic! Great musicians, great songwriting, great arrangements, great vocals. I feel so blessed to have grown up in that era and heard all these classics on the radio when they were originally released.
This song takes me back. My friends Charlie, Beth, and Trent would go parachuting to this song. Sometimes it was mild discomfort, other times we'd be in excruciating pain. But it left me a lot more humbler

Chicago is my favourite band of all time. They have the melodies that weak my knees, they have the virtuosic musicianship that blows me away. Seriously, no one else that I’ve listened to can bring a group of people together and have them be equally talented in both vocal & instrumental ability.
Only because it needed to, and it worked for the best. But Kath's vocals were, and will always be remembered for the original Chicago. Terry's vocals are very unique.
I remember as a youth my dad had a rambler station wagon he used to take us to Midway airport in Chicago pull the tailgate down let us watch the planes land and take off while eating white castle hamburgers listening to wLS radio DJ Larry Lujack listening to this song now those were the ol days I miss my dad❤
