    I was there! I was there! Yes, I'm an old man now, but I was there...back when they had this original "star studded" line-up. These guys are truly the most underrated rockers on the planet...with talent to spare. I've never seen a live act play as grippingly well as this band. Anybody who knows "live music" knows that Chicago was the pinnacle of the "live artform". Their brass section, as if Cetera, Kath, Lamm, etc. were not enough, that brass section was so darn precise...floating in and out of songs with meticulous beauty.
    You just gotta love this most original of all bands. Depaul University proved it could do much more than just produce great basketball teams...and Demon Dogs (of the Vienna variety). How a band like the Beatles or Chicago could contain such talent from irrational exuberance, one will always wonder?

    Kath, Lamm, and Cetera were what made this band awesome and as though that wasn't good enough they added the brass section which was unheard of for rock bands. Cetera chewing gum as he sings and plays, Kath with his phenomenal guitar playing and singing, and Lamm playing the keys and singing along with the brass sounding off is a band of sheer talent.

    • @waltersimmons946
      @waltersimmons946 9 місяців тому

      @PianoMan84 Thanks for responding. Yes, that's the main purpose that gum is chewed while singing. I used to do that (as a singer myself, but I stopped chewing gum years ago though I still sing), but honestly, I would never recommend a singer to do that because this could Happen (1). The gum could fly out of your mouth while singing especially in front of people (2) You could unwittingly swallow the gum while singing because you have to also swallow between the words of a song to also lubricate the throat and you have to catch your breathe too. There's a lot to maintaining the voice than people realize.

    One of the planets greatest band , artist , composers , performers They are ever lasting like the Beatles , Elton , zeppelin , steely dan , stones , ELP , Yes , all these groups and artists several
    Decades before their time .. Ownership of their instruments , voices , composing ... above the ones you believe are the best ... they took a huge leap higher and attained greatness

    ALL of you guys together in the early days really were incredible, even looking at it today.

      I believe Robert Lamm did most of his songwriting alone, but then he presented his stuff to the group and just let them fill in the gaps. Must have been awesome in that studio as this all came together.

      Yeah, Peter was-and probably still is-an amazing bass player, in addition to being a stellar and unique vocalist. Bobby was also a strong singer and keys man, and Danny’s drumming was phenomenal! The horn section and arrangements were just fabulous. The songwriting was fantastic. There’ll never again be as one-of-a-kind, talented and creative a group of artists as these, especially since the recording business nowadays, sadly, does not value and nurture musicianship and innovation so much as recording efficiency, adherence to formulas and profitability!
