- Prototype testing for the new T-Motor F2203.5 series of ultralight, extremely efficient FPV motors. (Soon to be released Dec 2020)
I was contacted a couple of months back by T-Motor to test out some motors which I would classify as mini-long range or lightweight race drone motors. I went through a few frame revisions and a myriad of test flights to see what these were truly capable of. This video highlights some of the flights and testing completed.
Please note the production version have been changed to 12x12 mounting pattern not 16x16 as depicted in the video.
Any idea on release date?
Do you have a link ?
Thankyou
Should be available very shortly. Check the T-Motor website or FB groups.
We will release the motor in next week
@@ScottTomlinson thanks for this amazing build, do you have a link of the frame? I want to build the same!
@@jordigrau83 I designed and machined the frames specifically for these tests unfortunately. Stay tuned though, considering some ways to get the designs out.
@@ScottTomlinson any news, are the motors released yet?
37mn ! It's insane 😲
Thanks for sharing with us this preview test 👏👍🙏
So smooth and nice flying!👍
love that shot at 4:22 ! really well done video, love to see the hobby pushed as far as it can go!
Cheers man, one of my favourites too
Agreed, the freefall shots are awesome. He goes through a cloud with the 6" build!
Why is the channel so underrated😂😂,Great videos🎉🎉
This is a very impressive setup! Just subbed :o) Happy New Year!
not gonna lie but you just cracked the perfect balance between a lr fun quad and a mini race ripper congrats. subscribed!
Thanks mate, I was also a little shocked at the versatility.
BOMB video. I LOOOOOVE the clud-high dives. And good tunes too!
I agree that was worth every second!
Wow ! I got to build myself another quad 😃 great video , thanks for posting 📸👋
Can’t like this enough!! BlackOpal pushing the RnD boundaries for Australia and QLD ❤️ Can’t wait to see how far I can push this frame / motor combo in terms of long range 💪
Exciting times!!
Killer! Great result mate! Very impressive.
Thanks mate, appreciate you checking it out.
New sub. 👍 Love these, "proof included," test videos!! Awesome footage too! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate! Haha yeah, half the fun is proving the concepts.
Amazing content, need such drones like that - plug and play for fun!
I hope Dave_C finds this vid. Excellent results! Without a doubt going to build this into a long range quad. 4" just doesn't have enough ooomph for the mountains, but this will be perfect and gets more flight time. Bravo, mate!
Thanks mate! Dave_C inspired a whole movement with this genre indeed! I feel the 4 inch is ideal for those needing/wanting to fit the sub 250g but 5 and even 6 inch (stay tuned) is where the money is at for useable performance.
@@ScottTomlinson I flew ultralight 4" (prototypes of the Bird of Prey) the entire 2020 race season, well since April 2020. I love how it feels and flies. I am faster with the 4" than my traditional 5" quads. Started off on 1404, then progressed to 1804. the 1804 provided much needed torque to turtle. Really interested in trying a wider motor on them as well.
AMAZING, nice flying
That’s so sick man ... nice work ..!
Cheers man, having so much fun with this thing.
Nice work Scott!
Cheers Todd! I'll have a freestyle arsenal soon man haha.
Amazing video 👍
nice! beautiful flying spot. subscribed!
Awesome! Thanks man.
Nice work pretty impressive run time. Kicking myself I didn't go ultralight 5" over 4" now, and great editing and presentation! Don't know how I haven't stumbled across your channel sooner :D
The 250g max thing deters some using 5 inch I think but a 6S Li-ion is already over that so it's kind of moot haha. Cheers man, I haven't really jumped on the YT scene much but picked up a few cams during Covid. I love the mid range proximity stuff though. Nice Gold Rush vid btw.
@@ScottTomlinson thanks mate! I've given up on sub250 just aiming to reduce noise and intimidation factors now.
Nice work mate 👍👍it's amazing how far motors have come over the years and these 2204's compared to the 2204's that everyone flew years ago show that
I'm wondering about that too. I've been searching through a lot of old gear as the sizes back then seem to be coming back in fashion so to speak. Light weight props are a welcomed advancement.
Dope edit👊💀
I would 110% buy the frame tweaked for digital as soon as they come out. Side note-- that shot with the birds flying around the 3:30 mark was just perfect looking
My plan is 20x20 AIO and vista mounted under top plate. GPS mount on top plate
Congrats on 1k!
Thank you so much mate.
@@ScottTomlinson You deserve it - been here since 60 subs and the content has been non stop amazing. Keep it up and I recon you'll be at 10k in no time :D
(Also please mate that song in the flying montage is insane - I need to know what it is hahaha)

@@ScottTomlinson thanks so much man! Keep up the good work :D
At 3:15 my absolute favorite type of flying. Especially low to the ground on winding trails and dirt paths
Awesome video, this is great inspiration. I subbed! I'm into midrange lr and next year I want to start racing. I opted for a druckbär ultralight 4 6inch and 2 of their ultra light 4 race frames. They are only 28g and 36g. They should be a great substitute for us that can't cut our own frames. They can also house a vista if a 20x20mm aoi is used.
Thanks for your inspiration!
Oh, and btw, what's the minimum c-rating on that 6s 850mah lipo? Is 80c enough or should I go for the 95c?
Risking bird strike 😂
Awesome 👏🏻 Thanks for the info !
No worries mate, yeah a few close calls hey!
yes! finally some battery life improvement 🙌 😌
Wow nice information like motor and prop, thankyou for ShareThis, done !👍

Haha we had packed up for the day and I totally forgot to record some footage. Seemed appropriate!
Holy shit that’s impressive
Thanks for providing the frame! Do you mind also uploading the 3d printable parts for camera and antenna? That would be awesome :D
OK. Please - What song. That was insane
I have the same prototype motors .. i can confirm they are the most efficiënt motors i tested
Love this build I'm wanting something that will rip and still have long flight times for a multi purpose quad.. but I wonder how durable it would be for freestyle bando bashing...... subbed 🤘✌️👊
Durability is the trade off unfortunately. Not to say that you couldn't still get ~15 min flight times with more durable frames but yeah, ultra light is really the key.
That's amazing performance! Was looking to get a good long range 5" going so will definitely consider these motors! What was your FC and AIO?
Cheers man. Just a regular 20x20 stack here. Wasn't using an AIO.
You know, I’ve been building quads that fit this class, and now it may become a class...
Awesome man. I see this genre gaining traction everyday too so I think you're right.
You should try a naked vista, even lighter must be a beast. Your builds are awesome man
Cheers mate! Yes absolutely, save a bit doing that for sure. Would help fit it in frames that aren't as tall too.
Please provide the files for the frame itself.
LiIon batteries failed soo bad in some other channels god knows why , but with you it seems they are a game changer in terms of capacity.
Definitely not intended for heavier quads or hard freestyle.
So sick! im def gonna try this out!
Yeah man, such versatile builds. I love how this genre is evolving so quickly.
@@ScottTomlinson This is gonna explode now for sure! Bro i got some mambao 2204 1450kv with 16mm motor mounts. How do you think this drivetrain would fare on a normal 125g frame, i could use theiflight H7 to help with weight a little more. Could i also ask what max amps you drew and what kinda flight time you got with the normal 6s lipo? Thanks!
@@HarshFPV Those motors should be sweet too. Much the same spec. I've got a mate trying them out also. Low weight really is the key to extended flight times but I've managed to carry some pretty heavy batteries so you might be surprised.
The LiPo batteries on my analog build were getting me around 100 mAh per minute at cruising. Less as you go bigger obviously.
@@ScottTomlinson Awesome to hear that! i got 6s 1300mah only. although i can source some 4s 5s 6s li-ions. would you suggest the 6s for best throttle response or does the added weight offset the throttle response at that point, making 4s more optimal?(frame is 125g already) By throttle response i mean like how fast the quad reacts to throttle blips sorry for the wording and thanks for your time brother!
@@HarshFPV 6S for every instance is my recommendation. Unless you're going for a max hover time or something. 6S just gives you so much more freedom.
Subbed! This is bad ass! I want to build this neeoowwwww!!! 🤣😍💪🏽💪🏽
cool !
Insaaaaane
Way to go! Thanks for sharing!! Do you have a link to these motors now? Can I get a hold of that frame set up of yours?
Motors are available now from T-Motor. Frame is a work in progress really. Just something I mocked up.
Hi Scott, great video and love the frame. Is there any chance you can share info on lion Pack you used?
Also, what's the difference using motors Star Vs Delta?!
Thanks mate, I just make my packs using the Sony VTC6 cells. In this instance it's likely done to fit the amount of windings needed to achieve 1500 kv on the smaller stator. A delta connection typically requires more winds to achieve the same kv. You can do it but it would require a higher gauge (thinner) enamel wire. You can achieve the same characteristics with either Delta/Star however. In theory, the start up current of a star connection is less than that of a delta connection but at the expense of low end speed.
Awesome. Do the Mamba next!
I'm super happy with how the these are performing but the Mamba is of a similar spec (configured as 1450 kv and Delta). The build quality is nice too. You'll get comparable results I'm sure.
@@ScottTomlinson they got a 2450 also
@@feralfpv3768 2450 could be a good 4S option. It's the really low kv that makes these though.
This is exactly what I want, DJI, 6s, 5", gopro, something that rips on lipo and long rang on li-ion. I want to know more about the motors, these ones vs the ones you just posted
The 2005 motors are a much better all around motor for the ultralight 5 inch I feel. They still get huge li-ion time too. The downside is they're all T-Mount...for now ;) The T-Motor or other 2203/4 excel for endurance and the mini long range style.
New sub great info! That bird is way to fast for old ass. Lol 💪💪👊👊
Yeah they seem to have a sixth sense. Very alert. I actually didn't realise they were there at first!
What’s the difference between star and delta wound? New to this and looking for new 2004 motors . Throng to fly as long as possible.

any idea to 7" frame motor (T - MOTOR) ? For longrange quad
Liked , subbed
what sony cells did you use, also love it and i want one
VTC6. They seem to be the best for this type of stuff.
@@ScottTomlinson if i wanted to buy a frame like the one you c and c ed what would be the closest match, because i cant seem to find a race frame light enough
Fantastic build! :o
What transmiter do you use??
Thank
TBS Tango 2
loving that frame , what was the weight of the analogue build no lipo ?
Cheers man. Analogue was 180g incl. batt strap
@@ScottTomlinson ah man so close to being light enough for a sub 250 build
This looks like the best of both worlds, with the Vista, what were the flight times for 4s, 5s and 6s Li-on? Which one was best?
Unless you're intentionally going for maximum time, 6S is always the answer in my opinion. Better flight performance. Useable performance on 4S once the cells get close to 3V diminishes. (e.g I'd hate to try punch out to miss a tree etc) I'd use the 5S without a GP or if I wanted to do a decent cruise along a beach or something.
@@ScottTomlinson Thanks for the reply! so, do you think a 6S lithium pack would give you more flight time than the 4s lithium ion that you used in your videos (even with the added weight)? I think that this class is going to get big and the 2203.5 is a better option than the 2004 that everyone is using.
@@DVRGNTraw flight time no. I agree on the size too! Small weight penalty over 2004 but huge performance gains.
@@ScottTomlinson Everyone seems fixated on overall max flight time. I would rather a farther distance traveled at a higher speed with a lower overall flight time. I wonder if the 6S li-ion would achieve that over the 4S Li-ion
@@DVRGNT 100% agree. That's where 7 inch quads shine too as they have the ability to cover a lot of ground.
Is it safe running these motors with 6 inch prop 6s battery?
Noice!!! But..im confused your motors have 5mm shafts while the production version have 3mm shafts?
Production is definitely 5mm shaft too. You're looking at the 2203.5 yeah? The 2004 have a T-Mount.
Ok nevermind it says M5 in diagram and shaft 3mm in specs I got confused store-en.tmotor.com/goods.php?id=1119 ...Though the site i have them in cart says 3mm lol; www.getfpv.com/t-motor-f2203-5-1500kv-2850kv-motor.html
What are the electronic specs? And have you had any luck with the alnolog frame production? Very interested in this build! Its sooo efficient! Hell I have never bought a pre built kwad but me very tempted to make you an offer. Pay pal ready 🤣
Just basic 20x20 stacks, nothing special. No frames released just yet but I'm looking at options to get the designs out for sure.
@@ScottTomlinson very interested in a frame + motors for a vista long range
Reminds me of the RacerStar 2304 low kv that was discontinued.
Take my money! 37min! That's what I get on my 7"
It's funny you know, I'm going through all my old gear and clearance sections on stores looking for the old sizes we used to run, probably some real gems around.
I've also just built a new 7 (non UL) Yet to run it to it's limits but I'd use it for fast paced mid range stuff where 100kph+ is required. I still feel the 5inch covers most things however.
may u advice me a drone setup for long range bmmcc+laowa 7.5 mm setup
Curious what's the kv of this motor you were using?
1500kv mate.
💪😍👍
Awesome footage, to bad it is kinda blocky, don't know if you exported as such or it is youtubes fault setting the video to a lower bitrate.
Oh really? Might be your settings my dude. Watch it in 2160p60 if you can. Looks fine for me.
What was the flight time once you added the vista?
Lost approx. 10 mins by adding digital. I'm only flying the DJI version on 6S though. So Li-ion around 25 mins with the GoPro. 10 Mins with my typical 1300 race LiPo packs. I could definitely shave some weight on the digital build however. Monoplate frame, naked vista, AIO would take away a lot of the fat.
@@ScottTomlinson what’s your dry weight on the digital version?
what’s the flight time while cruising at 80km/hr with the 6s li ion?
Got no data to say unfortunately. You can cruise at 80kph on 4S with a bi-blade fairly comfortably however.
For this quad is it better 4s or 6s li-ion battery ?
6S if you need a bit of speed also. 4S for cruising is fine.
Ok...I need this....what props are those? Where can I get the frame? where can I get the motors? :) NEED THIS NOWWWWW
Props are the Gemfan 5125. They really make a build like this. If you check the T-Motor site you'll see the motors are available now too. Frame situation is a TBA.
Whats the flight time with the GoPro on the 6S liIons?
Around 25 mins (I haven't maxed out a battery for a purpose test of this nature though) I've flown 20+ mins quite a few times. Gets boring after that haha!
Damn I want to build this so bad! Which GoPro are you using?
* I finally got 2 Runcam 5's and a Session 5 to start recording with but I really wan't a 6 or 7 for stabilization asap.

which vtx did u use for the analog setup? looks like u got good clear range w it
Rush tiny tank mini on 350 mW. VAS crosshair extreme on the goggles.
@@ScottTomlinson oh. ok. Thanks
When will we be able to purchase the frame and motors?
Motors are now available.
I was searching for frames for this motors and came up empty. Would you mind sharing you're frame?
Don't wanna be that person, but if it's not tooo much of a hustle maybe you could also make it fit the 12x12 production motors. Otherwise I guess I will have to learn CAD... If you would sell the frames or designs I would also be willing to pay for it...
Hey mate, just working on tidying up the frame files and getting them out.
do these feel fast enough for competition racing on a ultra light build? on 6S
Might be a touch soft on the bottom end I think. Up high they're fine. I'm just doing some testing on a better revision of this frame specifically for racing. Spoiler, I'm using a 2005 stator. Video in a week or so.
I am sorry I don't understand spoken English well. What battery voltage/capacity was used for 37 minutes flight?
4S 3000 mAh (Sony VTC6). This was using Gemfan SL 5125 and 1500kv motors.
@@ScottTomlinson thank you. So 4s 3000mah means about 200g, and auw is just below 400g with hover throttle 100g per motor. I have diatone mamba 2004 1450kv motors, I think they are very similar but didn't check them yet.
@@ScottTomlinson what ESC Amp would you recommend for this motors? I have seen you used mamba 35Amp ESC. Is that ok for current with picks up to 40amp? I got Sussex mini ESC 35Amp I wondered if that will do?
Would it be a good idea to use a vista on it?
I'm building a freestyle oriented version currently with the other XING motors and a naked vista.
Can you send me that exact setup? I've been wanting to setup a race drone. I have a few DJI drones that I use for photography but want something more maneuverable.
Where i can buy the frame?

Could you please publish the files for the frame, or link to where I can buy it
Toying with a few ideas for getting these designs out. Not available just yet however. You could do the same with any 'toothpick' style quad too I guess.
Hi man, very well build quad, Where can me (South Africa) buy (import) the part needed to build a light racer like yours?
You'll have to look around and see what shops send to South Africa. Most of the bigger shops will stock the components required for a build like this.
Wow 35mins really ?
Whats is the AUW with hero + 6s 1300mAh ?
Can't hardly wait for the release
The heaviest config I flew was 285g. That was a Hero 8 light with ND etc. So add that to a ~220g ish 6S lipo.
@@ScottTomlinson hero 8 light ?
285g is impresive ... you are a racer. I'm not ... my 6s freestyle rig was 391g. + 3d mounting + hero8 + 6s lipo 1000mAh = 698g 😅
@@gonebdg Naked GoPro. I'm still using the original metal front though. Bit more protection.
@@ScottTomlinson oooh I see 😁👍
@@ScottTomlinson hi ... it's me again 🙂 ... I've saw the spec. On their official site ... the thrust on 50% throtle is only 285gr, so I guess the AUW should not more than 570gr. The mounting size is 12 instead 16 like the 2306/2207.
My question is ... do you have suggestion for the frame ?
Nice. Those motors will run 7" on 2s I bet too.
Hmm, possibly might be a bit of a stretch to try get flying nicely. Not too sure what lightweight props are around either. Would be cool to see though!
@@ScottTomlinson There's already an ultralight 7" with 2004 motors the Brotherhobby Hyperbola. It will run on 2s and slowly chug along. You are right the tune will not allow any kind of creative flying but efficiency will be high and motor bobbing caused by the 7" props and light weight will smooth out once you put on a heavy battery. Oh and for props contact HQ and ask for 7x3.5x3 2vS prototypes.
Nice build!! What liion 6s was that?!
Sony VTC6 cells.
@@ScottTomlinson Mm thank you! So the C rating that li-ion is enough...what is the weight of that pack so I can make some calculations? :D
@@BobCorey For an ultralight build with motors this size yes. Approx. 310g battery.
I'm a bit confused. You said that the weight of the frame is 30g, and that the AUW is 180g. Since these motors combined weight is 78.48g, this leaves you with 71g for battery+components. Is that even possible?
Quad dry weight was 180g. I miss spoke there sorry mate. Answered a question earlier about that too. This isn't a sub 250 build. 6S li-ion alone weighs 300g ish.
@@ScottTomlinson makes more sense! Thanks for clarifying
Hi Scott you’re the man dude , hey I was looking for some help I’ve been flying for about two years drones I learned how to fly by teaching myself and my skills are that I can even fly a real plane I was a solo pilot with about 30 hours of flying some years ago, anyway I’m trying to get into FPV and I’d like to get your opinion I like the BNF 4 inch HD flywood freestyle drone, and I like the QX7 RC transmitter because it looks like I could keep that transmitter forever without upgrading it. But goggles I like the DJI but I don’t want to go with $600 goggles so what goggles would you recommend and what do you think of the items I’ve mentioned for learning how to fly FPV I would appreciate any help you can give me !
Hey mate thanks for dropping in. Are you aware of Joshua Bardwell? Check out his content as there will be some good comparisons. Personally I'd go with the best you can afford. Your FPV experience is really defined by what you can and can't see. If you're not opposed to buying second hand, a set of Fat Shark HDO might be worth a look!
@@ScottTomlinson Thanks Scott , i’ll check him out too, so because I don’t have any real experience with FPV do you think I should start with a simulator and the items that I mentioned before ? or should I go with like a package that’s a whoop toy drone and a simulator an TX16S transmitter an maybe a $100 goggles to hone my skills first and then buy the best package I want what do you think of that ? although I hate not buying all professional gear first , I know it sounds backwards but I always buy the best first but I don’t wanna buy the equipment and then regret that I should’ve bought something better if you know what I mean .
Is it possible to buy this frame?
How much does it weighs
