A while back, I put HQ 4x2x2 props (that BARELY fit) on my 1306 3" quad. It is built to be a 4S quad, but I strapped Zoe's 3250 mAh 2S to the top and did some test flights. I was able to squeeze the GPS, a Caddx Turtle, and a big VTX in just barely under 250g.
The first flight was over 19 minutes and the quad traveled 6 miles.
I did the same thing again, but with more throttle. It was 6 miles again, but this time in 13 minutes. The next test got me 6 miles again, but this time in 10 minutes. On that poor 2S battery, I believe this was at a pretty constant 75% throttle.
I think the distance traveled is more interesting than the flight time, and I think it is even more interesting that the quad kept going 6 miles no matter how fast I went. Knowing that I can fly to a point 3 miles away and still make it back at (almost?) any speed seems easier for planning than knowing how long I can stay in the air.
You're doing a good job, Dave! Keep it up.

Congrats on being the first to make a RTF build that you can actually buy, that takes component builds into commercial quad territory. I often wondered why this hasn't been done before. Li-Ion and small efficient motors is not a thing for the race quad community, maybe. But the Lipo version for sale is very impressive too. Did the two blades have a big impact ? It's gonna be a big hit, so I hope you can keep up production with the demand. This is the biggest shift in the industry for a while. Just wait until the other companies get on it. I'll order the analog 150$ version and perhaps swap the video for an old Connex HD camera/tx-rx digital no latency system I've got laying around. Not gonna shell out for the DJI system just yet, when I already got everything (except the few km longer range though). Also looking forward to see what it does with a Li-Ion option under 250g, so I can fly around in the city.

You will need to buy the receiver separately as most pre builts had stopped supporting this protocol from their side. You can still find some prebuilts with the FSA8s still installed but I would say its about 25% out of every quad built. Once you bind it to your radio and connect it to your boar via soldering or harness you are good to go. You also need to enable Ibus on your flight controller so it can get the right signaling to the controls. You also have to check your orientation in Betaflight. Make sure you dont fly more than about 250 meters away from you with that particular radio and you should be good to go.

I'm getting ready to do my RTH and failsafe testing but need to know what should my radio's failsafe setting be set to in order for the RTH and failsafe to work properly. I own a Jumper T16 Pro radio and using an XM+ rx for now. I followed the Betaflight configuration for GPS there but not sure how it should be set on the radio. Many thanks for such a great drone.

I'm going to try a 2S 4850kV setup to try and get the maximum Wh out of a set of Li-Ions, carry a naked GoPro and still be under 250g (otherwise, what's the point other than scouting?), but I don't think running below 2.5V per cell (5V) will be an option for the running gear. By the time you got to 2.5, your voltage was dropping like a stone, so there's not much reserve beyond that regardless. Would be extremely pleased with 20 minutes or 15 on lipo's if it flys OK. Won't be for awhile... waiting for parts.

Would the flywoo let have anny issues if I swap xt30 to xt60 battery connector. Also would it be a a good idea to fit a 4k runcam split with the flywoo?

That gopro of Flywoo seems optimal but, for a budget, a person like me that would purchase the normal gopro to use out of the quad aswell... Is it manageable? Can this drone manage the weight of a normal go pro?

Try using 18500s instead to save a bit of weight

Warning warning there is a potential fire hazard with this quad. the battery lead can short against the frame. The heat shrink on the positive lead is thin. the frame can cut into it causing a short hot enough to start the frame on fire other than that it is a great 4in

I recommend putting a grommet where the battery leads go thru the frame. u have to trim it up but it works very well

A single cell weighs about 48 grams. That multiplied by three plus some wires and two connectors, you should be at around 150-155grams I guess...roughly

zeDoSauRus if you fly 4 km using 700mAh at a speed of 40 km per hour, this does not mean at all, 2800mAh you will fly 21 km even at a lower speed.

    Very good review.
So for a REAL long range not limited by the transmitter, do you suggest the crossfire version and then change the vtx? That's all? It would be awesome to fly all this time without having range limit.

Hi Dave, great quad, I have been enjoying mine. Do you have any advice in getting better vtx range with the analog version?
I have the the f7 v2 pro analog with 600mw goku vtx and true-d receiver module tried both triple feed patch for a max of 1.2km and the IRC LZ mini -patch array for a max of about 1km.
Any tips from anyone for getting better range will be much appreciated.

Are you flying behind obstacles or with clear path to the quad? I got 1k + with some random patches, with truerc xair on goggles I flew 2km and did not have any significant breakup.
