    • @ampedfpv
      @ampedfpv  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, INAV. I found the 2S just didn't have enough watt-hours to go this far. It would be interesting to test the 3.5" setup, but usually smaller props are not as efficient for long range. Thanks for the comment!

      @@ampedfpv I run 2s 4" on 6000kv 1404 and can get 20 minutes on vtc6 or longer on 21700 p42 but, the extra weight usually gives me less flight time how I fly. I had another 4" 2s on 4800kv 1404 that weighed a good bit less, I sold it because I like the extra power of the 6000kv but, the guy I sold it to said he was getting 30+ on vtc6 so I bet p42s flown conservatively would get about the same flight time as this.

    How is this possible? And that wasn't even a lipo? Is it because the batteries aren't capable of putting out big power but they can last a long time?

    • @ampedfpv
      @ampedfpv  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes, Lithium-Ion batteries are generally better for long-range vs. Lipo's. They don't have the same high C ratings that Lipo's have, but they have better weight to capacity ratio vs. lipo. Very lightweight drone cruising at constant speed doesn't have a high current draw, so li-ion is ideal.

      Thank you. I've posted the whole DVR so you can see the video quality all the way out to 15km. It was surprisingly good! The flight out was the most difficult this time, because I'm constantly making an educated guess about when to turn around. • @TechCoreX.
    @TechCoreX. 7 місяців тому

    Hi, I have some questions about your Mayfly V2.0 build,
    I find it very intriguing and would like to know more about the chassis and batteries.
    Is the 3D frame model available? did you cut it yourself or did you use some carbon fiber cutting service, for example on aliexpress? If I wanted to create one too, what are those iron rods inserted inside that distance the upper plate from the lower one called? What batteries did you get (amperage?)? , how does magnetic charging work and how do I connect the xt60 cable?
    I hope you answer me because I want to create a record-breaking drone like yours.
    Thank you and goodbye

    • @ampedfpv
      @ampedfpv  7 місяців тому

      1. I designed the frame and had it cut by CNC Madness. I wasn't happy with oscillations in the design, so I don't share it.
      2. The "rods" are called standoffs. They're aluminum with 2mm threads.
      3. Batteries are Molicel M35A 18650 in 3S configuration (refer to specs)

      flying above 120m 400 feet is illegal by the FAA

    • @ampedfpv
      @ampedfpv  2 роки тому +4

      This is true for the FAA, but actually in my case I'm in Canada and there are no altitude limits on sub250g craft so there was nothing illegal about this flight. 99% of the flight was under 120m anyway. With only the odd excursion above when I had a brief lapse in concentration. So I just blurred the altitude to avoid any "karen" questions :)

      Using the logic programming tab in INAV. Used the 6 position switch on my TX16S. There are some videos on UA-cam that show how to do it.

      I’d be curious if anyone has made a tiny fuel cell drone or one with a tiny nitro engine running a generator for more range. Smallest fuel cell I’ve seen is 650 watts.
