      They both bring love and joy and respect too the table , regardless of disability isn’t that the point , foot note , I’ve been married to my darling for 31 years , I had a traumatic brain injury 8 years ago and I now have cancer , but my darling girl still loves me the same even if I’m not as fit as before , that’s love ❤, that’s marriage 😊

    I finally got to the end of this video, and please thank Joe - and you - for discussing the supposed fragility of your body. I had similar worries/fears with my wife too. A lil different for CP vs SCI, as it is more about stiffness of parts of her body, but certainly the same fear of popping a shoulder/elbow/wrist out of joint, and worrying about how her arm was placed. I love my wife, and it’s been 42 wonderful years of marriage. Thanks Brittney and Joe!

    you guys are great and I hope more people follow their heart as you two have. I have cp and lived with my parents until I was 47. I met a girl through a friend that was also handicapped due to an auto accident. She got me on my own after a few, "dates." Unfortunately, she lost her legs from lymphedema . Gradually she required more assistance and I just jumped right in. My parents thought I was crazy but if it wasn't for her, I would have ended up in a group home or something. she taught me a lot.

    I saw one of your other videos and wondered how you were travelling through life. I am delighted to see how complete your life is, a beautiful part of a loving family. Every one has ups and down, your 'down' was far deeper than most people's, but your personality won. No wonder, your husband is a lucky man, and knows the fact. Most people have lucky breaks and bad breaks, I was lucky my spinal issues were treated in time allowing me to walk unaided again; my wife's cancers were twice treated in time, the third time not so lucky, but we had nearly 48 years of married life. With your attitude, personality, and energy, you look set for a bright future together. People often dwell on what I shall politely term the 'biological consequences' of eating and living, they should remember those consequences are part of being alive and deal with the matter. You eloquently showed how perfectly you accepted the need for solutions, preventing needs from being a problem. Live life to the full, seek out, and employ solutions to avoid problems, the alternative is worse.

    I love this video because I can relate to so much of it! Congratulations on your anniversary! My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last August. We had dated for almost four years when I was injured racing motocross in June of 1995. She supported and encouraged me during my recovery and never once thought of leaving me. She is a true blessing! If we ever had an opportunity to meet you and your husband, I'm sure we would have some fantastic stpries to share!

    Hey! Just discovered your channel 😆 what a great couple & it is obvious who wears the trousers lol. There is somebody out there for everybody! ❤️💙💖💗💘 & I can also relate to the part where people assume because you have a disability you require alot of care wich is rarely the case as most love to have independence 😆

    1. It was easy watching the whole video, because it was all about genuine love and respect. The topic was interesting, but the underlining theme of your love was what I really needed today. I needed to know that even though I never found my soulmate, it does exist. I would’ve been miserable if I settled for less. You made my day❤.

    Great video as usual. I love her attitude, openess, and confidence. In response to a wheelchair being an issue in deciding to start a relationship, I can see that it's something that both people would have to discuss as you both said. But when you think about it, or when I think about it, your not dating the chair, your dating the person in the chair. If you have feelings or love that person the chair should not matter. What if the injury occurred after marriage. I would hope the other person wouldn't leave because of the chair. And as we get older we are all going to have some condition that will require our spouse to help out. That's just part of aging being married. Hope this makes sense.

    • @EmpoweredPara
      @EmpoweredPara  Рік тому +4

      Makes complete sense! I think you're right, the chair shouldn't be a factor. The difference with dating and marriage is that if the injury happens after you're married you have already made those vows. With dating the person gets to decide if they want to make the vows. I would hope that the wheelchair wouldn't scare someone away but in reality it does. luckily there are good people out there that don't get scared away.

    I'm 63 and would never have had a problem with a girl with this disability. If I'd loved them, that's all that would have mattered. I've been with able bodied women that have grossed me out with their ways. I've been married but have never found true love. I feel really sad about it. I'm alone now and doubt I'll ever find it now. You two clearly love each other. That's wonderful x. I watched the whole episode too.

    Looking at my own situation and experiences, worrying about what to do 30-40 years down the road is useless. You can both start out perfectly healthy and “able” but, as we all know, excrement occurs and before you know it one of you is in special circumstances.
    A friend of mine who is not very healthy to begin with, fell down some stairs, shattered her knee and has had her leg amputated above the knee. Her husband is a really great guy who loves her to bits and he now has a lot to deal with but love conquers all (more or less).

    I know this video is a year old, but I just found your channel and have been watching a ton of your videos. I really appreciate how open and honest you are. I was born with Spina Bifida. I am 36 and married now, but went through some of the same things you talk about in many of your videos(I get out of bed at night to pee though haha). Thank you for your channel, and keep oversharing to strangers asking if you can have sex. It's the number one question I get as well. It amazes me that people have the gall to ask that, especially when they first meet me. Take care!
