The Subterror Nemeses being at odds with Subterror Behemoths in lore but playing together in practise reminds me of how the Ice Barrier tribe actually want to keep the dragons sealed, or how Revengdread Slayer actively fights back against the Vendread. There's a few instances of archetypes where they're comprised of 2 or more "factions" that're at odds with each other.

      True Dragon: Draco vs King.
Burning Abyss: Main Deck vs Extra Deck. (Ok, technically not opposing, but given what they are based on, they are 2 separate factions that are thematically opposing.)
      Ice Barrier: non-Dragons vs Dragons.
World Legacy: if you know the lore, you know.

In the evil eye archetype the two main monsters (serziel and medusa) fight eachother for the power of the evil eye, using each a familiar (basilius and catoblepas) and transform in the extra deck monsters when they achieve the power (zerzziel and gorgon), and the cards narrate that story

Ghostrick and Subterror are 2 of my top 3. The other being Abyss Actor (hyped for the new support).
If you like Ghostrick and Subterror, I recommend Tindangle. If you learn how they are really meant to be used, they can do silly stuff.
They can make a 4K+ triple attacker that cannot be targeted or destroyed and does double damage once per turn.
The way they mix Flip with combo and Tribute Summoning is so unique.. and as a fan of the Cthulhu mythos.. they're just cool cards.

The effect of Subterror Nemesis Defender is a lore-driven mechanic expressing the opposition of the Nemeses to the Behemoths: in the presence of the face-down Flip monsters, i. e. while you are in the terrain of the Subterror Behemoths, he is the reliable shield of his allies.

Thanks for being a good rep for Speleogeist. People sleep on him for some bizarre reason. He's the closest thing to a monster equivalent of Hidden City and Final Battle.
Fiendess isn't the younger form of Behemoth Fiendess, it's more like Attack on Titan where she shapeshifts. On that note, Guru gave his cloak to Warrior on Succession, because he knew he was becoming Speleogeist againt his will and needed a successor to defeat him.
Archer is super good. You might have other removal for Set cards, but Archer can shuffle away nasty cards like floaters, Absolute Zero, and Mirrorjade. Her own float effect is paramount, due to needing to see Guru as soon as dragonly possible.
Defender.. is just sad. He is somehow worse than even Dragossuary. Atleast that thing is a Zombie, so it can synergize with said support if you are based enough.
Cave Clash doesn't see a lot of play? It clashes? Bruh moment. That thing is a game winner. It's a name for Guru, the ATK boost is very noticable, especially with Speogeist who can poke for 6K+++. It's a soft once per turn even.. you can trigger multiple copies per turn and their boost stacks.

Cave Clash is very excellent with guru on book of moon shenanigans with summon limit, boosts for every def monster on board yours and opponents and creates resource loops and gains upon battle damage. A few things as an avid Subterror player.
Everyone talks about Dragoon Guru, but there are actually many other competitive versions of the deck I’d argue are as good if not better than Dragoon most of the time.
Krawler Soma let’s you get out F0 and search Ghostrick Scare for more Flip shenanigans. Branded Fusion and Fusion Destiny are other really good fusion cards to get out big bosses, but I’d argue Dinomorphia is actually the best because it doesn’t conflict with Duality, the fusion materials aren’t bricks as they act as starters as well, and Rextrum is a house. Dogmatika is also a really good engine since you don’t care about the Extra Deck. It even has synergy with aforementioned Branded Fusion.
Also, one little known fact about Subterror, we have an easy Accesscode line! If you start your turn with Hidden City face-up and Guru on the field either face-down or able to be flipped face-down, that’s Accesscode with at least 3 pops. You just need a Fiendess in deck and Selene, a Charmer, and Striker Dragon in the Extra. I’ll leave the rest for y’all to figure out.

Alright, I might be crazy, but, Calamity upon the hidden city in Ninjas? Like imagine setting a senior silver ninja via art of duplication on the opponents turn, and them trying to swing into it, leading to a 3700 defense ssn, where it then summons a swarm of ninjas face down. And if you have saizo on the field, who can't be targeted for attacks or effects as long as he points to a monster, wouldn't that create a sort of target lock (for effects I mean)? And if it gets blown up, you can get back someone like tobari, who can't be destroyed (if attacked) that turn even without it.

Archer is pretty good, its even played in Guru control. Better than like 90% of Subterror cards. And I think you are the first human being who ever said "Thats savagely strong" after reading the hillariously terrible effect of Speleogheist.

Speleogeist is the best Behemoth and most slept-on Subterror card, hands down.
He is the monster equivalent to Hidden City and Final Battle. He makes going second so much better, it's not funny.
He's a 3K name for Guru and Fiendess while letting you get 2 flip-ups off Hidden City. Making Guru AND Fiendess live instantly without having to burn Final Battle is big.
Poking for 6K+ damage is just a bonus.

@@flackenstien I tried Pure Subterror after Guru came out, Speleogheist was the first one I cutted. Why would I want him over Ultramafus or Stalagmo? Volteluric and Stygokraken are good disruption and Phosphero was good with Snow (now he's pretty bad as well).
Umastryx is of course the best one, with Ultramafus a close 2nd. Going second every Behemoth is terrible. How do you play through negations, pops ans banishes? Behemoths miss timing almost every damn time if your opp knows what he's doing as well.

    • @flackenstien
      @flackenstien Рік тому

@@tongatapu7325 The issues you are talking about apply to every card in the game..
Think of Speleo as Subterror's extender. You can flip him up with Hidden City and use his effect to flip up Guru. This means that by those cards on their own, both Guru's disrupt and Fiendess' negate are live without having to burn Final Battle. This lets you use Final Battle to either flip up another Behemoth or lets you save the anti-negate effect if they Called By your Fiendess negate, ect.
Obviously going first is best, but Speleo makes going second very doable and adds pressure as a throwaway 3K body.
If you don't believe that Speleo is good, then by all means, continue to miss out on the deck's best board maker.

Ultramafus was REALLY good when this deck first came out because links weren't a thing yet. The opponent would run into a set archer, which would set Ultramafus from the deck, and if they tried to run over it, the Hidden City would flip it face up, negateing the attack and setting all the opponent's monsters, and since most of those monsters were summoned that turn, it shut everything off instantly. Also, Final Battle's last effect to prevent negation actually lets this deck play under Skill Drain. While I don't recommend actually playing Skill Drain (cuz f*** that card), I can't tell you how many times my opponent has flipped SD on me only to see that it doesn't nothing at all.

Subterror was never meant to be good, with the effect they were given they it seem like were intentionally made too be bad, like their entire gimmick is summon themself when your filed is all face down monster and they gave them a link monster, the worse part is that it was better of being Shaddoll support! Konami seem to just want to offer a small story line of a heroic warrior an his companion vanquishing evil behemoth monster. Their story line supposed to end with final battle but with Darkwing Blast it seems like we gonna get a continuation of the story line. They would have just been a random forgetable archetype but then they made Guru, and the guy just decide to throw away about 90% of the Subterror away and decide to go control and fosake the entire spirit of the archetype! At least he will be the base line of what you need to make flip monster great again I guess
