Sat through all the 2 hours because the stories are funny and also the trivia sections are interesting to hear about cards. Interesting choice with the no attacking run. The early game being roughly low powered definitely made things more tedious and more difficult than later parts when the self-Ko strategy was more viable. Glad to hear you’re better from COVID!

Highlights for me: 1st and foremost, your progression with your health, Thank goodness you did well or at least with the commentary I hope but glad you are healthy. Must have been tough to play through this sick but again glad you are doing well. 2nd @17:02 the guardian stars expressed as the sailor guardians from sailor moon was a nice touch, sad they do not have a sailor sun though cause I was definitely thinking that. Though I will say that while some of the guardian stars do match the corresponding sailor guardian like venus, mars, uranus, and neptune; mercury, moon, jupiter, and saturn do not match but that's coming from someone who's watched sailor moon. 3rd: Your self imposed challenge to beat teana - villager 3 with your deck unchanged and no saving was funny as heck. 4th: your cutouts of Yami/Atem and Yusei break dancing The final one, highlighting mystical elf as your mvp of the run. She definitely deserves it. I ended up watching a duel links vid showcasing mystical elf recently. Glad to see and hear you are well. This strategy actually might work well with an exodia run. I watched someone else do an exodia run with this condition and won, he couldn't get megamorph though. Still requesting a spellcaster run, sorry to be a broken record here. Finally, we will get the TPFM run, with all the madness of like two people spamming A TECs for half the run and a bunch of MBD hunting (and me trying to get a REBD :V) So fun fact - in the original Yugioh Duel Monsters, the burn cards and LP gain cards were mirrored. The actual effects were... slightly different though. Hinoko/Sparks and Mooyan Curry were 200 points of damage/heal, Fire Ball/Hinotama and Red Potion/Medicine were 500, and Burning-At-The-Stake Penalty/Final Flame and Goblin's Secret Remedy were 1000... and you couldn't actually get the two better burn cards through easy means (and no opponent had spells in DM1 so you couldn't see them), but you could get one copy of Angel's Lifeblood/Soul of the Pure which healed 2000 and Cure God Dian Cecht/Dian Keto the Cure Master was 5000, so you could probably guess what Large Day-And-Night Fire/Ookazi and Burning Hell/Tremendous Fire did... ...but to get a copy of those cards you had to beat 150 different different opponents specifically in link battles for the first, and beat 200 different opponents. And you got one per save file. They nerfed the burn cards in DM2 to the forms you see in Forbidden Memories. Villager 3 didn't just win with Twin Head because... it had a bad star matchup with your monster, who would have had 3000 defense if they fought. Thank the lord you put that Forest up or you'd have lost. "Dark Duel Stories 2"... did you mean Duel Monsters 2, the game actually named Dark Duel Stories, or Duel Monsters 3, the game named Tri Holy God Advent which got dubbed as Dark Duel Stories? "Reshef is objectively easier than Forbidden Memories, I know this because I'm playing it now." - ah, so you haven't gotten all that far into it. Trust me, when you hit the midgame, you will uncover levels of bullshit that Forbidden Memories could not hope to match, and the final boss is singularly more horseshit than all the Final 6 together.
Mate how spot on you are with all this astounds me.... Reshef atm for me is artificially difficult because of the grinding & deck cost requirements, haven't encountered anything "broken" yet its just simply time consuming (playing with no card passwords or cheats other than speedup)
@@Jon_Oh The important cards for making Reshef easier for you, the player: ~Mammoth Graveyard ~Hourglass of Life ~Blade Knight ~Cocoon of Evolution ~Vampire Lord (remember that you can discard a card from your hand at any time) ~Doron ~Revival Jam ~ANCIENT LAMP ~The Darkness Approaches (to use with those three above cards) ~Earlygame, the Baby Dragon/Time Wizard combo is useful, but it falls off later ~Dark Flare Knight (see Vampire Lord) ~Most of the actually good traps (heavily nerfed from TSC but still really good for their cost) ~Most of the actually good spells (see above) ~Beastking of the Swamps and Fiend's Hand (additional destruction cards, essentially) ~The Egyptian Gods, but especially... ~Ra Phoenix Mode, the best card in the game bar none. It's locked behind a password and an ingame event however.
The final 4 have the millennium eye ability, Sebek and Neku are 50% and 75% chances per monster to attack into a facedown monster whether it's in defense or attack position. It's why trying to play some derpy monster against Neku to draw deeper usually doesn't work since it's .25^n chance to not have him attack you. Sebek is easier though because he's more likely to backrow whereas Neku will just go monster monster monster a lot. I knew Darknite would be rough with this, he can just go backrow for a long, long time. When it comes to the AI activating raigeki, it's based on whether they think they have field control. Say your biggest monster is a mystical elf in defense mode. The AI see's that as 2000 defense, or 2500 defense if the field is yami. Only way they're activating raigeki against that is if all their monsters have base attack and defense equal to or less than 2500 with field or 2000 without field. The exception to this is if the AI has a full backrow of magics/traps they can activate raigeki from hand if they're backrowing over playing a monster. This is also why Darknite is hard as piss for no attacking strats as filling his entire backrow is easy with how many spells and traps he plays. Glad you recovered from covid though, it can be super rough.

I’ve found you on my recommended this past couple of months and have encouraged me to actually finish this game for the first time since I was small. Currently grinding trying to find dragon capture jars but ready to beat heishins butt!!! Love what you do and would love to see an either a magic only deck or a fused magic only deck? This is a heck of an idea to try and pull off. Didn't know about that glitch where the AI just attacks regardless of what you have on the field if your LP is low enough. Pretty interesting video all around. Thanks for powering through it, especially while sick.

holy moly, no attack run was nuts! Also, thanks for explaining the AI quirk that made me notice the AI suicidal strat back then when I ran the female run. I gotta admit, it's quite the insane exploit. Also, I did totally forget that Villager 1 & 2 could be rematched later in the story. After a no attack run, what's next? a no DEFENSE run, aka, all monsters are in attack position only????? My official vote would actually be for the Winged Beast run. That Mavelus you won in one of the matches is a sign for you to UNLEASH the Crimson Sunbird (the marvelous Mavelus is part Pyro)

Well played! (At Ishishu, so guardians and final six may see additional strats, but so far, fairly interesting run -- though I'm sure was probably pretty repetitive to play)
great video, but just wanted to clarify two things that were mentioned in the video the self delete glitch, AI does take into account guardian star and field boosts along with base attack value. It just doesn’t pay attention to equip boosts. There’s a thing called spell lock. If the AI considers hat it has the advantage via having the strongest monster on the field (not factoring equip boosts), the AI does not use spell cards like Raigeki, Shadow Spell and the like. edit: he didn’t specify the advantage thing around the time he did Kaiba in the tournament and just got to where he explained it properly later at final 6
Didn't know my playthrough was a challenge run! I remember just playing this game on the sidelines to get footage of the 3d models! I'm still sad I can burn enemies to death like I did in my playthrough of Duelist of the Roses! I love playing defensively, especially to watch the cpus freak out. This ep is kind of reminiscent of the current format where Yubel is a tiered deck which includes a monster and spell combo that forces your opponent to attack it and take reflection damage

The final 4 have the millennium eye ability, Sebek and Neku are 50% and 75% chances per monster to attack into a facedown monster whether it's in defense or attack position. It's why trying to play some derpy monster against Neku to draw deeper usually doesn't work since it's .25^n chance to not have him attack you. Sebek is easier though because he's more likely to backrow whereas Neku will just go monster monster monster a lot.
I knew Darknite would be rough with this, he can just go backrow for a long, long time.
When it comes to the AI activating raigeki, it's based on whether they think they have field control. Say your biggest monster is a mystical elf in defense mode. The AI see's that as 2000 defense, or 2500 defense if the field is yami. Only way they're activating raigeki against that is if all their monsters have base attack and defense equal to or less than 2500 with field or 2000 without field. The exception to this is if the AI has a full backrow of magics/traps they can activate raigeki from hand if they're backrowing over playing a monster. This is also why Darknite is hard as piss for no attacking strats as filling his entire backrow is easy with how many spells and traps he plays.

This is a heck of an idea to try and pull off. Didn't know about that glitch where the AI just attacks regardless of what you have on the field if your LP is low enough. Pretty interesting video all around. Thanks for powering through it, especially while sick.

holy moly, no attack run was nuts! Also, thanks for explaining the AI quirk that made me notice the AI suicidal strat back then when I ran the female run. I gotta admit, it's quite the insane exploit. Also, I did totally forget that Villager 1 & 2 could be rematched later in the story. After a no attack run, what's next? a no DEFENSE run, aka, all monsters are in attack position only?????
My official vote would actually be for the Winged Beast run. That Mavelus you won in one of the matches is a sign for you to UNLEASH the Crimson Sunbird (the marvelous Mavelus is part Pyro)

great video, but just wanted to clarify two things that were mentioned in the video
the self delete glitch, AI does take into account guardian star and field boosts along with base attack value. It just doesn’t pay attention to equip boosts.
There’s a thing called spell lock. If the AI considers hat it has the advantage via having the strongest monster on the field (not factoring equip boosts), the AI does not use spell cards like Raigeki, Shadow Spell and the like.
edit: he didn’t specify the advantage thing around the time he did Kaiba in the tournament and just got to where he explained it properly later at final 6
Didn't know my playthrough was a challenge run! I remember just playing this game on the sidelines to get footage of the 3d models! I'm still sad I can burn enemies to death like I did in my playthrough of Duelist of the Roses! I love playing defensively, especially to watch the cpus freak out. It makes my heart flutter seeing you play like me! Cheers, and I'm glad you feel better! Maybe you'll use more walls next time!

This ep is kind of reminiscent of the current format where Yubel is a tiered deck which includes a monster and spell combo that forces your opponent to attack it and take reflection damage
