The thing I like about the Kanto and Johto rival themes is that they make it feel like the battle has stakes. That your rival is a threat to you and your goals. Many of the other themes make the rival battles seem like a fun little challenge and nothing more.
Arven and Penny aren't rivals. N is. So i'm not sure why Arven is here but not Penny it really makes no sense. I also dont get why we have both versions of Nemona's theme but not both versions of Marniw's theme and stuff
If you look on the bulbapedia page on rivals it shows Wally and May/Brendan as rivals in the Hoenn games, N, Cheren and Bianca as the rivals in BW, Hugh as the only rival in B2W2, but Nemona as the only rival in SV

Hoenn and Sinnoh pretty much always have my fave themes, tbh. As someone who is super into the music in these games, if the main fights (rival, enemy teams + leader, gym leaders, e4, champion, legendaries) don't have epic music (imo), then I just don't enjoy the games as much. RSE blew it out of the park, and even more so with the actual Battle Frontier instead of just the Tower (why that wasn't brought back in ORAS, idk and it's a crime). And of course, DPP did even more so with the Champion theme. Swsh was a totally forgettable experience for me, simply due to the fact I only enjoyed ONE major theme song: Gym leader. SV is doing better from what I've been listening to (I didn't want to spoil myself, even regarding music, but at this rate, I might as well) so at least despite the gym leader music being total bogus to me, I enjoy some of the others, such as enemy team and one of the special groups (forgot if it was the Titans or another one).

SV is doing better from what I've been listening to (I didn't want to spoil myself, even regarding music, but at this rate, I might as well) so at least despite the gym leader music being total bogus to me, I enjoy some of the others, such as enemy team and one of the special groups (forgot if it was the Titans or another one).
