Thank you very much for these lessons, as I'm trying to learn more about plainchant and the psalm tones i find your tips really helpful. If you don't mind, i'd have some questions as i'm trying to make a "cicit" myself (idk if it's the correct spelling😅).
The main question is, what should it include to be complete?
I know there are some particular modes like II* and peregrinus. Are there others to consider? In the video i can also see that mode 1 appears two times, probably two different versions of the first part of the psalm. Are there other important variations like that? Thanks again!

Many thanks for sharing this tip. I found it difficult to connect the mode to the chant but now with your help it is easy. Now my question is : is there any difference between the 8 Gregorian Modes and the 8 Gregorian Psalm tones? Or it is the same thing? Thanks in advance

Thanks for your feedback! No there is no difference. Yet one very important thing to remember: various pieces of the repertoire, from the graduale book to the antiphonale, all have there specificities. They almost all are, basically, antiphonae which can be followed by the chant of psalms. For introits it is very clear. Same for graduale, offertorium, communio. While the melody of the psalms in Gregorian is more in the « Norm » of each mode. You hear systematically the same Melody (only the end can vary : f, g etc.). The gregorian pieces of the Mass can have a lot of variations and a very unique identity, Even if they were written with the standards of a given mode. Hence the importance of identifying the intervals before singing them, to really enter the unity of their melody driven by their mode: minor (v.g. re - mi - fa) / or major (v.g. fa - sol - la).
