- A rare look inside the Blue Angels pre-flight briefing room at NAS Pensacola on July 7, 2021, as the pilots prepare for a practice flight.
Watch the pilots "chair fly" during the brief to simulate maneuvers done airborne.

this is what my team and i go through before i approach a girl
LMAO!
...as she calls "smoke off" and sends you into a high-alpha with your stick in your hand.
This is the funniest comment I’ve ever seen
@@TheSeanBampton 😭💀😂
Seriously laughing out loud. Post of the Day!
The Commander's voice is legendary. 👍👍👍
This is the third time I have seen the Blue Angel's perform this preflight mantra. I had the privilege of being in the room during one of these and to say it was intense is an understatement. I have never seen such concentration.
My dad and I had the same privilege in 1991. Intense is right. Such a cool experience 😎
@@pilatus96 as a non pilot, i have to ask...is the commander speaking what will be said when they're in flight? That's what I got out of this video...that and the guys visualizing their moves when they are in the cockpit...also are they drawing out the flight route on the pictures on the table?
@@laraschaubleYes, yes, & yes. Amazin' ain't it ?
People don’t understand what goes in to this.
That is too cool to watch; almost as breathtaking as the actual demonstration!
They've been doing this since the days of Butch Voris - and you don't mess with what works. This is cool as hell.
What I'd give to sit through an entire briefing with them and then sit back seat in #4 for a show...I could die happy.
That was the coolest chair flying I've ever seen 🤙😎
Every time I need to be reminded what focus looks like, I come back to this video.
it was a privileged to see that.
Agreed!
Totally agree…total commitment.
Amen! 👍
i agree with u. Saw them this past weekend in Vero Beach, Florida
I want this guy to come read me a bedtime story like this.
Sometime at an airshow, tune into the comms and just listen to Boss the whole show. I'm a Thunderbirds fan but the Blue's Boss comms are THE BEST.
More brain power in that room than all of politicians in Washington DC put together!
Aaahahaha! Fact!
Especially in the late 2010s
These are some of the best pilots of the Navy
That’s actually not too difficult!
Small correction, these are the best pilots of the best pilots in the navy@@Juandinggong
I love the sing-song type of commands the leader gives, that perfect timing for those tight maneuvers…. Man 👌
This really put into perspective the amount of time, commitment, practice, dedication, and lifestyle they have to aviation. It never gets old watching the blues fly. I’ve had the privilege to see them live many times, each time is just as breathtaking as the first. Amazing- thank you for sharing.
Me too. Also, i share the same thoughts as you in your comment.👍🏼
I absolutely love hearing all the subtlely different versions of "A little pull..." "Smoke on..." "Up we go..." over the years. Truly a thing of beauty. 💙
Diiiiiiiaaamond hallf squirrel cage !!! Too kool, right!
The training, execution and diligence involved in trusting the Boss and following his commands with such precision is remarkable professionalism
It’s mind blowing what we’re capable of
Outstanding , it's amazing what you can accomplish as a team when nobody tries to take the credit.
The work they put into the prep for their shows is the reason they kick ass so well.
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
These guys do a lot to put on a great show. To outsiders their chair flying may look weird but it helps them during the demo
It’s what successful athletes and business folks do previsualization. Do it in your mind and you’re prepared for reality.
I think this is really cool that they practice with visualization. 👍
This is too cool. I'd sit and listen and watch them do the entire brief. The Blues are my obsession, passion, and inspiration.
When I used to race I would close my eyes and play out every gear shift. But that was just me, riding against everyone else on the track. To see these guys doing the same thing as they prepare to work together is absolutely remarkable.
Amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they can’t get it wrong.
Awe man.... I'm an amateur 😢
When I was learning to fly, I would get in the hot tub, and fly every flight, make every radio call, every landing with my eyes closed. It helped a lot.
Yea Neil, but did you make fart bubbles in your plane like you did in the hot tub? lol
I do this with VR now.
Given your training, do you now insist on equipping your plane with a solo hot tub for the captain's seat? How's the sloshing?
Wow, what a privilege to see and hear their preflight
i knew there had to be crazy planning behind all that
Visualation and meditation, I love it!
Awesome. There's a reason their show is so polished.
Notice how they’re all looking at the “plane” next to them in the diamond formation based on wherever their position is…. I’ve told people that when they’re in the diamond they are NOT looking forward and are looking at the aircraft 18” away from their cockpit to the side (or wherever). This is amazing to see.
This is WAAAAY COOL! Ward Carroll was talking through his ‘brief’ experience on his ride with the Blues..GREAT stuff!
Fantastic, many thanks for sharing. I’ve been admiring the ‘Blue Angels’ from across the pond here for a while and it’s my dream to see them one day .
They do occasionally tour Europe, but the schedule out to 2022 shows all domestic and Canadian dates. Check the website, as they post the schedule there. The 2023 schedule should be out by fall, if I recall correctly. For sure by the first of each year, you can see the next two seasons schedules. I know it probably won't make you feel any better, but I'll be seeing them a week from today.
Exactly as Ward Carrol described!
Stunning!! It is all in the prep!! When something looks so easy and natural, it never is… Chapeau and respect!!
Proud to have worked/flown with G in the Fleet. He's an amazing professional, smart as a whip, and truly a nice guy. I've been flying for over 20 years and I still chair fly. The day I stop prepping for a milk run is the day I find a new profession.
I appreciate the ‘insider look’ at your ritual. Fascinating :)
This is very interesting to see. Thank you for sharing this.
I've been watching these shows for 40yrs & this for me is still as fascinating if not more than actually watching them fly !
Thanks for sharing this.
How cool! Thank you for sharing!
Been a Blue Angels fan since I was a kid. Still remember watching them do Flight Shows at Barksdale Airforce Base when I was a kid. This is so cool to watch!
This was truly an awesome insight into the their preparation for their spectacular flight demonstrations! ✌️😎 🇺🇸
I followed along in my swivel chair at my PC. It was exhausting! Nothing like a visualization exercise to get your day started!
Interesting look at their prep.
This shit....is THE Shit! These guys are the best of the best....and I'm an Air Force brat, w/ a fighter pilot dad. Why?
My dad: "Those guys are nuts; they land on a moving runway, over water, with about 20ft. off each wingtip."
Even carrier based, they already have the Right Stuff.
I met them and talked to flight lead and he told me they don't wear G-lock suits. So they are pulling G's while doing these maneuvers because the stick is in the middle of their legs and can't risk having G-suit inflating and messing them up
That was awesome to observe, and inspiring.
I'm going to integrate into my own flying routine, as appropriate.
That is so remarkable. Perfect arm and hand sync is next level team work. This makes me want to be better.
Practice is soooo important. these guys are all over it... amazing
I watch a lot of Ward Carroll’s stuff, he was an F-14 RIO and did a video about the blues and he was talking about the preflight briefing. Very cool video. God bless those pilots and the USA 🇺🇸
Yes I was remembering Ward's video describing the Blue's preflight. This was just like he described!
Excellent video, thank you so much. Fly Navy.
Visualisation. Great briefing!!
That's awesome. Went by there base yesterday at Pensacola to visit the air museum but they are still closed to the public. The blues are the best in the airshow business!!
Captivating. The making of perfection.
Wow. This is incredible to watch!
What An Honor To See 👀 This!
Thanks for sharing. You did a great job, guys! New subscriber here
Man that’s a lot to remember
Hats off to you gents
Absolutely amazing!!
Amazing! I was there on July 10th to see the show and I have yet to find the words to describe how mesmerized I was at the skill level of this team. They are simply Amazing!
Me to they were awesome 👍
This helped me get focused on my pattern work 👌🏻
Wow, that was amazing watching that, they just completely go into the zone. No wonder they're the absolute best. I had the pleasure and thrill of watching them in real life and will never forget it
Chair flying is not easy. But once you get the hang of it, it prooves to be a very effective training tool.
Captions are like “You’re on your own dude”. Kinda creepy seeing everyone with pens doing the same thing. Incredible
This is damn cool! Thank you
Insane amount focus and concentration.
I finally see the faces of the blue angels. I love watching y'all come in for a landing right over brothers bbq. The little air show I get...
Fascinating! Utterly fascinating.
Just saw these guys yesterday in Pensacola ❤
And then...we watch the High Show from our back yard ...and love it when
we get the Delta fly by.. its one of the best things about Pensacola...
Amazing focus and concentration....
I love the part how they close their eyes and call out stuff. So cool.
So coooooool. Professional at its best. Love the blues.
These guys are the best of the best for sure. I enjoy taking my family every year when they fly over Huntington Beach to perform, it never gets old watching this incredible team of pilots. God bless them and keep them safe !!
Absolutely freaking amaaazing 😍
You’re about to have a shit ton of new subscribers.
That’s just cool as hell. Very man seeing it in their mind.
Power of chair flying, visualization and practise!!
Thats truly teamwork at its best.... True professionals and cool as hell!
Yes!❤,Karita.
That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen on UA-cam (and I've watched A LOT).
Blue Angels are amazing to watch!
So awesome!
The boss is really the boss very informative thank you for sharing God Bless
These pilots are the best of the best of the best.
Accurate
It’s all preprogrammed shit. Computer does all the work you just need to be weird like these mf just sit in there you’re pretending flying the plane. Fuck this was weird shit
That was very interesting
I noticed even there feet are going over the maneuver. This is amazing. No one is even distracted. Intense!! Or someone gets killed. Amazing guys.
Fascinating.
Amazing
This reminds me alot of when i’m headed out in the morning in my propane truck
Wow. just awesome
Even working the imaginary rudder pedals! Now that's co-ordinated flight!
Total professionals.
AMAZING
Wonderful!
Thanks for you’re service!!! Let’s go usa 🇺🇸
Even their briefing is done in cadence lol. Dedication!
Me when chair flying before my check ride
The Prep for Xmas Mass at St Peter's in Rome is very thorough. Likewise the Angels must prep as well.
the voice is amazing.
The inflection, the slowing down to highlight a manouver ... amazing!
It's weird, but I can see the importance of it ... to build a memory based also on inflection and timing, and not just on a series of things to do.
Pretty freaky level of concentration/commitment
Talk about muscle memory! These are the best of the best! Go Navy!
Now I understand why the Mars helicopter "Ingenuity" managed to roam the red planet: it has been a matter of talent and determination since Willbur and Orville Write flew the Flier to this day so the Blue Angels team is a vivid proof of that talent.
The best of the best ! ❤️🤍💙
Amazing…your mind is your most powerful tool 💪🏻👍🏻
