@@goodwifelucy5602 yup but you didn’t get a GCSE, A level or degree in it. We did social studies and social education. It wasn’t considered worthy of a qualification.
The topic may have been taboo even then. Still, they got some laughs and hoots. Nowadays, they’d probably be banned and I truly can’t see the King accepting it.
These A&M sketches remind me of this one time I was on the bus behind 2 girls who talked all chav like that, and one of them was complaining that she hated her English teacher and she was going to complain about him to the headteacher. The other girl asked her why, and she replied "Cuz ee said I was FICK!" - They both turned around and glared at me when I burst out laughing.
All the comments about the crowd seams to be from people who don't understand; 1. Sound mixing. They're not on max volume like in a sitcom. 2. How crowds work. They're laughing a lot, but silence quickly, politely, as it's a fancy event. Miller and Armstrong did not bomb here. And it's a great skit :P
I love him, too, he was so rare for a really handsome film star... Really happy to take the p*ss out of himself, never took his career seriously - but I don't know what is going on in his life, but he is looking so defeated by life - as though he is on a non violent suicide mission. Makes me so sad.
They only did three series of "The Armstrong and Miller Show". They should do more. These two are excellent. My favourite sketches of theirs are The Spring Cotillion - where they are dancing in a ballroom with high society ladies and exchanging lewd comments to their partners.
But for those who don't know, that's 3 series *with the BBC*. They have 4 series of 'Armstrong and Miller' previous from Channel Four days, in the late 90s.
Hilarious! "they blame me, cos i dunnit." made me laugh quite a bit :D Plus, because I love him, John Simm is the cherry on the cake! Though, I did feel a bit ashamed at one point: I took Media studies instead of French!
These characters are basically a WWII era bill and Ted. There, I said it. Basically two stoner youth inside of grown men’s bodies during the 2nd world war.
If you are unsure of what is being said on screen, then do read the comments section, as most of the script is quoted verbatim, usually followed by 'LOL', to indicate the contributor has fully understood the comedic techniques employed by the writers of the original script that is clearly heard during the performance. Many contributors also use uppercase to further emphasise that they really have understood everything, and are very keen to make it known to the reader. Remember - the use of 'caps-lock' means 'My comment is really worth reading'. Please respect the time and effort that they have taken to reinforce their insecurities, and that they should be congratulated for their sharp observations and not ridiculed or labelled as a half wit, capable only of stating the bleeding obvious. Thank you. Please ENJOY.
Just show a little kindness. They are repeating the bits they loved best, or most moved us, just as we all do, when talking about the things we loved best, walking out of a theatre or cinema. Except, we are alone in our experiences and can only communicate with strangers, who witnessed what we witnessed. It actually indicates a base loneliness online. As to caps, I know old people who have no idea there is an etiquette. If they accidently have phone on caps, they don't worry. If people write in caps, fewer people bother to read. If someone is indicating that much stress, I feel happy I am pre warned, and often jump the post. I don't obsess about feeling superior and happily judgemental about people. If it doesn't look like it will be calm, I generally jump it. Do you walk around pointing at Down's syndrome people, or emotionally unbalanced people? They may be a bit unbalanced or agitated, but YOU ARE UNPLEASANTLY SMUG. (Not an accident with caps lock. Just so you know)
