@anastasiszaroliagis5066 This thing was one of the baddest things around in the 1970s. But in the years since, I can not say I've ever seen a Scania I'd take over a long nose Peterbilt 359, or a Mack Superliner with an E9. They are just pure classic cool, and still can hang with trucks of today. To the Euro's credit, Scania is actually still making V8s, and badass 770 hp variants. They're not horrible looking, if you have to be stuck with an ugly cabover. Mack unfortunately left the building when Renault bought them. Their coolest products are a thing of the past. Much like most manufacturers now. No manual transmissions, no v8s, and ugly spaceship looking trucks.
Wayne that’s a bad ass old Peterbilt, you brought back to life, breathed new life into it. That’s fucking awesome. Keep them coming man. I look forward to watching your stuff. You’re one of the best shows on the UA-cam.
I was lucky enough to drive the 79 Pete 359 on my uncles farm during harvest. It had a 3408, 15 speed, and 4.10 rears. That old truck would get up and move once you got the hang of her. The 3408s are definitely in my top 5 favorite truck engines.
back in the early 80's I had a 79 Freightliner with a 3408. yes it was hard on power dividers (i kept one in stock) the driveline wasn't up to all that power back then
At work we have an late 1990s very short wheelbase day cab KW with a C-15 Caterpillar opened right up. It has twin everything including 4x long range tanks (on a day cab ffs lol) twin aircleaners with high rise intakes with Donaldson plastic ram scoops and twin 8" exhaust stacks so is very loud. The Jake is hilarious particularly if you downshift and it gets the engine up to 2000rpm. Far from show this truck actually hammers. The hang on it has on hills at 1800rpm is astonishing. I don't know how much power it has but is someone told me it had 700hp I wouldn't be surprised. Anyhow across the bottom of the windshield just above dash level it has a perforated plastic banner on the inside of the screen. Printed on the black banner in barely noticeable but large faint Caterpillar yellow is in capitalized 6" high lettering, PUSSY POWER, each word being on each windscreen segment.
Had a shite day at work. Came home and farted around in my shop for a bit. Came inside and saw Ol 2stroker uploaded a new video. Just what i needed. Cheers Wayne and happy new year. 👊🏼
I learned something new today. After 30 years of wrenching I never knew some driveshafts had cardboard inside of them. I wonder if it had been reworked in the past and the shop that rebuilt it shoved cardboard in it. 👍for the content.
Wayne, back in it's day that was the truck few people could afford, and the guy that could everyone else was jealous of him. Great piece of history alive again. I look forward to the progress on the V12 359, there's no sound like the old 2 strokes! Keep the great content coming man!
bloody hell mate, good job bringing this back to life. Love older trucks, back when you bought them from the Men's section, none of this new girly crap. Keep on keeping on brother. Cheers.
That Friends is a real truck The driver of that truck Was exuberant To be behind the wheel and drove it with pride And honest-to-goodness pride By everyone who Saw him behind the wheel . All we got now is junk trucks An engine We're in the hell that we go wrong. And they wonder why we are short of drivers It is because of the awesome factor of a truck like that
If there was any money left to be made in trucking I would love an older model pete like that especially a unique one with that motor. GREAT FIND and glad to see it run and drive folks like you who rescue these older darlings are special! (I drive a 1999 Pete 378 short nose with a 3406E that I have put 800k miles on). Unfortunately I think if I quit the boss would probably park her out in the field to rust.
I do know how important that first drive is. Fall in love with them and you trade your bed for a lantern. No winning a truck over a day old that doesn't break something in my level of expectations. Yeah I have driven miles with out doing much except to add a little oil to those detroits but then they always marked their territory. Just like a Rottweiler, another kind of said animals, those petes did get that award but my heart lays with a W900 B
Well bud last week you made it 6 inches and this week you made it 600 feet a few times so you are like 10,000 times better. Not to shabby for an afternoon’s work. Good job and even as rough as it is overall it sounds pretty dang good. If you ever decide to sell it and are willing to take a keg or two of your favorite beer for it let me know and I’ll buy it. lol 😂

Love this classic truck…. Plz keep it original and just get it back in shape. We’re loosing these classic everyday from ppl custom building and destroying the look of original. This truck is classic and gorgeous truck.
The dealership I wrenched at sold on of the last 3408’s built. It was ordered by the owner of the company and he literally hauled feathers with it and it got a whopping 3.8 mpg. I probably worked on 6-8 of them in my years there. Most were heavy haulers and a couple were calendar trucks
So now that's three conventional Petes plus the cabover right? Love that lineup with the Brockway, Mack, International, and that 3408 BEAST!!! Got your own James Pretty or Peterbilt Mike fleet starting. LOVE IT! Happy new year!
Great vid , nice to see that truck rolling, big Cat sounds good many more jobs on this one , looking forward to seeing your progress, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨

I had been thinking about the General driveshafts but didn't think it would be exact fit.The truck looks good and more than ever deserves to be restored at least to good driving condition.Fukkin right it's way different to a Detroit !!. PS check the trans oil level after that long sitting.
Wayne - collection looks boss, dawg. Only cool stuff in your yard 😎 Ill tell you one thing, i was not digging that Lilac truck when you first showed it on the channel but now its looking phenomenal.
About spat my food all over, old cat stroker you get put on some sort of register with a name like that wayno 😂 loving the direction of this fine machine brother
Those rust jacked brake shoes made me laugh, reminded me of city salt trucks . Glad the GMC driveline fit perfect, and you may luck out on brake shoes on the rear axle . What a contrast from the car and pickup work you used to handle 15 years ago. I'm proud of how you roll with the obstacles, Wayne .

22:49 Now, I've seen diesels make white, blue, black, and grey smoke, but orange smoke is definitely a new one for me.
That’s a concoction of rat piss and rust, oh and the odd cob web. 😂😂😂
Love this channel!
Good job gump!😂😂😂
No charge for that!
wayne keep that truck She's a keeper It's hard to come by a 3408 v8 cat And it has a lot of potential
