In the past few weeks I have watched several other cattl farmers channels on UA-cam. It has made me realize how kind and gentle you are with your ladies. You never seem to yell at them or hit them with your hand or worse, one of those cattle prods. You always seem to genuinely care about how they are doing and I just wanted to let you know that not every channel is like that. Thanks for how you treat your animals.
Great explanation. Yan you could be a professor of Dairy Farm Management. You explain technical things so clearly. And you can tell that you are just made to be a farmer...you love those beautiful animals and they like you! Thanks for taking the time to do these great videos.
Jan, I recently traveled from Alaska to Fargo, ND. traveling through Saskatchewan. It was very rewarding to see the country you dairy in. I have enjoyed yours and your sisters videos now for some time.
The crawler looks like a vehicle from a Road Warrior movie. Cool looking for sure. Always love to watch your work and get the explanation on what you are doing. Also love your interactions with the cows. Thanks till the next one.
Cool machine. Sorry for the crappy weather but there’s nothing to be done about it. I’m always impressed how well maintained you guys are with bedding for the cows. Great job Jan.
Yep it got real very fast. Went to bed Monday night it was fall. Woke up Tuesday morning to full on winter. I always wondered who invented the lagoon crawler, this is what I found. “Ian Nuhn designed and built the first Nuhn Lagoon Crawler prototype in 2013. The Nuhn Lagoon Crawler is an amphibious, remote-controlled vehicle that agitates lagoons on farms. It's manufactured by Nuhn Industries Ltd., a family-owned business that has been making manure equipment since 1902.” I was surprised they haven’t been around that long.
Jan, with all your cows, I know it's not possible to completely empty the lagoon. However, is there a time where you would scoop it empty as close to the bottom, as possible?
Wouldn’t it be more practical to have the load out pump closer to where the manure enters the lagoon, so you could pump the sand out or at least have a load out station on both sides of the lagoon ? The crawler looks cool and I didn’t realize they pump that many gallons per minute
@@daveklein2826 If you have a specific argument then make it. Centrifuges are in fact sold for manure solids separation. If centrifugal separation not applicable for the scale of their operation or other concerns, then my mistake and I would appreciate the reasoning behind it instead of a random insult.
I was wondering if you could either and/or extend the manure pump hose that fills the tanks. If you extend it a bit, would you be able to drive the tank under the outlet and not have to back up it the spout?
When you were cleaning the corrals, Jan, this question occurred to me. I meant to ask then. I’m asking now. The corrals become muddy with a mix of manure, hay, and bedding. The cows stand in that wet mix up to their hocks, meaning their feet are constantly in that mixture. How do you avoid hoof issues?
Please keep showing the shots of you petting or scratching a cow. It demonstrates that the cows are content and not abused as most of the "animal rights" crackpots claim. My Grandfather would comment when we were combing the cows in a stall barn "a contented cow gives more milk".
Hey Jan, Ive got a question. So over in germany were Im at they always tell you to not go into manure lagoons because there isnt enough oxygen to breathe. And people actually die because of that. But I see a lot of US / CA channels which do it. I it maybe only possible because yours are bigger thus having other earodynamics and the wind clears it out or is there another reason?
I’m wondering why there hasn’t been a manure lagoon scene in any of the jackass movies. Those guys haven’t proven their manhood to me quite yet, so I think that might do it something with a lagoon😂 Edit: maybe play a game of manure Polo😂

I had the same thought about the Road Warrior! 😂
Nice hat from a Wisconsinite. Come and visit again anytime ❤
That lagoon crawler was build at Nuhn 10 minutes from me. Great to see them in action.

Very interesting. It’s good to learn at least one new thing every day - keeps your brain young and healthy!
Love seeing videos drop from my favorite content creators ❤
Thanks my friend for the new episode! 👍
Thanks for the excellent explanation of the lagoon process!
Stay Warm Brother.
great job!!!
Sounds perfect for your manure lagoon lowering level timing - just before freeze up
Very good info on the manure agitator and how it works .
2:09 Oh, op, op - I thought that articulated buggy wasn’t going to behave there for a second!
I always enjoy your videos! The manure lagoon process is really interesting!
never seen a cow smile until she conned you into putting your hand in her mouth -too funny!
Another very interesting video Thank you and God bless you and your family 😊😊😊😊

That's what they are now
Love your videos Thanks for sharing.

I wonder if they should use a centrifuge to keep the sand out of the pit.
More recliner professionals😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Its snowing in the city again, looks like a long winter ahead.

Good Hat- Mad Town! Wisconsin guy here.
The new tire really is bright black on the manure tanker.

The cows go through foot baths several times a day

TONGUE CITY!
Jan..........How long does the sand-manure stay mixed before it starts to settle out ??
that crawler was definitely loaned from Mad Max film set. Maybe it was driven by Immortan Joe himself
Jan, how many yards of concrete were poured when your dad built the cow barn?
Goeiemorgen haha.
Good video.

A lagoon crawler is just another name for a farmers bass boat. I haven"t seen any No Swimming or No Fishing signs around the lagoon yet, by the way.
Ritchie brothers have a crawler in a sale next week in ontario
The Lagoon Crawler looks like something out of a Mad Max movie.
Looks like a new Lagoon Crawler costs about as much as a fully loaded Raptor. 😛
12:57 is that cow laughing at you?
Full circle, field, cows, field.
remember: no diving
I didn't know this was remote control! Makes sense, for the methane and rank gas it would churn up.
Am I wrong thinking this lagoon crawler showing up plastered in a different farms lagoon waste poses a huge bio security risk?
Funny, I was wondering something along those lines too?
You are wrong...
No
Jan couldn’t you pour a 2-3’ extension on top of the pit wall to give you guys some more capacity without changing the foot print
The S.S Manure
Would you guys ever dig it out so it's 100% cleaned out of sand so you get a fresh start with max room
how much wear and tear does the sandy liquid manure inflict on your equipement ?
Do you any type of septic tank bacteria to help dissolve the solids or anything else maybe beneficial) 🎉❤😊
You should get robotic feeders, milkers and scrapers
Send them the money to do it
@ they can get a loan from the bank to finance it. They have cash flow.
Jan, you are one ballzee man. That is not a place i would want to be walking with a camera😅
love the hat. i an from wis
You should go visit 10th gen!
-you farmers get up so early! part of the territory I guess
60,000 kg is about how much a US abrams tank weighs. its about 10,000 pounds more. but real close.
🇨🇦👍
What if the remote control guy needs to take a dump? Does he just go in the pit or does he go in a mini lagoon?
❤️🇵🇱👍
She wanted a bite indeed
The engine has to work for it.😉
I bet it doesn’t smell like a bed of roses in your area! 😅😂
HOW THE TIRE DOING ON THE TRACTOR?
It's going round and round.
👍👌❤🇨🇦
On average, how many hours a week do you work?
That ciw wanted the salt off your hand,, shes craving salt
👍👌👏
What does that thing cost an hour?
I’m wondering why there hasn’t been a manure lagoon scene in any of the jackass movies.

Too bad you can't go for a ride or put a camera on it. Would be interesting to see it up personal
Why not just buy a crawler then wouldn’t that pay for its self over time?
So the crawler is robotic…
